Hi Girls,

Back from Geordieland!

Glad to hear you're having a fab time with your DH LG&T. Assume the ball was fabulous too and the champers flowed.

MKG - Got the nose bleeds too, but only intermitently. Thank Goodness.

Bethnalhembub - my 20wk scan is on the 16th too. Is your's at the Royal too?? Mine is 9am.

Got my mw appt today. Hoping she listens to heartbeat. Am getting anxious as little weight gain and it's too early for me to feel movement as this is my first, so convinced all is not well - pure pg-panic mode.

Pebble - sorry your DH is being a bit of a tw*t. Sounds like he needs to grow up a bit and make some grown up choices. He needs to put you and the kids first and give his mum a good talking too. She's only bluffing with the ultimatum. If he tells her how it's going to be she won't risk loosing him. MIL's - ARRRGGGHHH

Hi all, Hope you are all OK.

Sorry I haven't posted for ages, have been having a very tough time. I am pg with no 5 (have 4 school age children) an also lost 2 babies, one with a chromosomal problem (very rare)

I have spent the last few weeks worrying about bleeding (thankfully stopped at 12 weeks) then worrying how to tell my family who were very negative about having another baby. Also REALLY worried about the birth as I lost nearly all my blood after a c/section.

Well, a couple of weeks ago I had the triple test and got a call last week that I was high risk for Downs, tenfold compared to my age. 1:110. The risk of miscarriage after an amnio is 1:100/200. Having faced late TOP in the past I am terrified of that happening again, equally I am scared of miscarriage if i had an amnio, and of coping with a child with Downs on top of my 4 kids (one with mild SN) Guessing all the way through the preg is also scary. I feel ill. My parents had me in tears saying we shouldn't really be having a 5th child never mind one with Downs, I felt like they wanted me to loose it..

I went for a private scan and am waiting for a result next week. Nothing to show Downs was seen on the scan which in effect halved my risk. I did find out we are having a DD which I am very happy about, I wish i could relax or make a decision one way or the other.

Sorry to be a big moan but was hoping some of you may have words of wisdom

CreenaberrySauce · 17/12/2006 16:04

Shnowy - thanks for that. Will investigate ACAS link further!

LetitShnowLetitShnowLetitShnow · 17/12/2006 16:05

Hello jellybeans, lovely to see you back here and sorry to hear you've had such a rotten time.

No words of wisdom re Down Syndrome I'm afraid but there are many, many threads on here from women who have been in your situation. Can you search the archives or start a thread asking for more advice?

Not much help, sorry, but have a big (((hug)))

largevirginbirthandtonic · 17/12/2006 17:14

Poor you Jellybeans, i hope you are ok. Sending you lots of love and hugs. I think you should wait for the scan results and go from there. I have never been in your situation so i cant say what is best. Only you can make that decision anyway. at your parents, just when you need support they are being very mean.

We are all here for you, wait for the results and come back and chat. I know i would be having the amnio to find out for sure as i couldnt wait on a what if....even if it turns out to be nothing your mind would be at rest. Lots of hugs xxxxx

Creena, bugger your employees. Burst in to tears and go off with stress caused by them. Go straight to your docs tomorrow. Im useless at employer trouble advice but very willing to go round and box their ears if it helps?!!!

Im having a stella... Anyone else????

I love darling buds of may.....i am the epitome of ma larkin....not quite Catherine Zeta Jones unfortunately.... All i need is a rambling farm house

jellybeans · 17/12/2006 17:25

Thanks for your kind messages and I will update you when I know anymore. After I get the new quad test risk results (combined with scan/nuchal measurements) from Leeds we will decide whether to go for the amnio. I can't imagine feeling like this all the way through yet am scared to face decisions if it came to that, the waiting is horrid.xxxxxxxxxxxxx

TwinkleTwinkleLupinsXmasLights · 17/12/2006 17:45

Hi all

Jellybeans, sorry you are going through this, If it were me i would have to have amnio (obviously depending on result from Leeds) as it would do my head in not knowing, hope it is all ok for you,

Creena, grrrr at your employers, make them feel awful, it is totally outrageous that they would even think of stopping pregnant ladies money, whether they were entitled to or not, which it doesnt sound like they are, hope this gets sorted asap for you

Anyone finding wee coming out slowly - is easier if I tip forward (please dont try to picture, will be falling of soon)I remember this from previous pg's, also heartbeat has decided to dissapear, not too worried it was there loud and clear this morning, squirt has probably tucked itself in a snug little soundproof corner somewhere

Right off to try and get dd to eat chicken chassuer and lentil rice, wish me luck

Lisa x

jessinwa · 17/12/2006 18:25

jellybeans, no words of wisdom from me, but i just wanted to echo the words of the others and say i am so sorry that you have to deal with all of this and we are all here for you. i agree with lvb&t and lupins in that i would def have the amnio if the results of the scan are inconclusive. your family's concern is justified as i am sure they just want what they think is best for you, but only you and your dh know what is truly best for you. good luck and keep in touch.

JonahB · 17/12/2006 18:52

Jelly, unfortunately, I have no pearls of wisdom, other than that my thoughts, along with everyone elses, are with you. Sorry to hear you?re having a really tough time of it at the moment.

Hi Lucy, welcome to the thread!!! Glad you could join us. Only you have to promise me one thing. I don?t want to hear any references to the year that you were born. It will just depress me!!!!

Katy, glad Snowpatrol were fab! I?d love to see them and work that bump girl!!!!!! More importantly, I didn?t know you were a fellow Manchester girl . Can I be nosy and ask what area? You don?t have to answer if you don?t want to. As I say, just being nosy.

Letitshnow ? poor DH and his nightmares! I thought it was the pgt ladies who are supposed to be having the stress dreams!! Your DH does sound like a real sweetie (if we ignore the marathon), doing something so thoughtful.

Creena, I?ve no advice, but lots of virtual good-wishes flying down my broadband. How horrific for you!!!

Well, LVG&T, I hold you entirely responsible for my actions on Friday night . Once you had named all your KK flavours, I cracked. As I live up North, thus no KK retailers, I texted my mate, who is passing through Euston next week and have put in a hormonally-inbalenced request for some KK to be shipped by Virgin trains to me. She laughed, but agreed. This is the effect you are having on your fellow MNers!!!!!

katybumps · 17/12/2006 19:03

jonah i live in stockport not strictly manchester but grew up in denton and dh is from clayton nxt door to the city stadium so a true manc at heart how bout you x

lucyw19 · 17/12/2006 19:36

I got given some mittens today, their so sweet i love white new born things, which is probably a bit naieve as they wont stay white for long but hey, they will untill baby arrives =]

Letitsnow = I dont think we have to be enemies, im not from suffolk thank god (no offence ment) so its all good =]

I have one slight problem, im eating all the time, started a few days ago and i eat eat and eat .. mehh!! and i want to start swimming, where can i get a costume big enough??

Anyway ill be back on in the week i hope.

xxx

katybumps · 17/12/2006 19:37

wiil definately catch up on thread after work tomorrow feel very ignorant only repling to top post but cant sit for long due to baby lying on a nerve causing shooting pains down my leg so have to get up and walk round.when i get back to lap top ive forgotten whats happening sorry x

lildrummerKel · 18/12/2006 09:28

Morning all & happy Monday (?) I'm actually feeling a bit grim today. My old workplace is insisting I come into the City to meet with them and they just don't understand that I'm not on holiday here at home, I've a 9mo old and I'm not one to break his routine for half a day when it can all be sorted out over the phone or email!

Katy just to say, white things are actually probably fine for a wee baby. After all it's really just milk and some mild nappies in the beginning. When you start weaning, well, that's when everything turns orange (carrots, tomato, etc etc)...!!

lildrummerKel · 18/12/2006 09:29

Oops meant Lucy not Katy, sorry !

Pinkjennyjoytotheworld · 18/12/2006 09:56

Morning ladies

George was AMAZING!! I haven't cried at a concert since I went to see New Kids on the Block when I was 12. When he sang I'm your man, I swear to god I nearly exploded.

Creena - I am an Employee Relations Manager - all the advice the girls have given you is correct. Your absence is definitely pregnancy related and in my opinion, the paragraph is not contradictory in any way. Let me know if you need anything, together we'll raise a nice, juicy grievance and freak them out.

17 weeks today - its going so fast now! Baby is moving about when I sit or lie down, which is all the time. No big kicks that dh could feel though. 20 week scan is on 8 Jan and I am sitting here on pins now waiting for the triple test results, which I should have by Friday.

Have decided to stop eating rubbish and start giving this baby some good food. Decided this last night after I had a packet Pasta n Sauce and a mars bar for tea.

Welcome Lucy!!

largevirginbirthandtonic · 18/12/2006 10:11

LOL at you Jonah!!!! KK should start giving me commission

Hello to you all, im present wrapping today. Well watching dh do it anyway (im not very good)

CreenaberrySauce · 18/12/2006 11:41

Morning all! I'm still embroiled in work stuff today and still haven't properly read this thread, so apologies for my ignorance in not catching up with you all - I really don't mean to be rude!

I just wanted to say thank you for all the good advice and support you've given me regarding my current predicament - especially Schnowy, who's a star and the lovely PinkJenny. It really means a lot to know that there are people out there who will freely offer their support and advice and I really do appreciate it.

I'm off now to have a hormonal blub in a good way)!

scootermum · 18/12/2006 12:13

Hi all,
Had a very welcome week off last week so couldnt get on-spent the first half of it recovering from the week beofre as I went to see the Charlatans on the Friday and had a great time but nearly fell over I was so tired by the end of it.No kindly security gard for me, grrr!

I hope everyone else is well.I am getting a lot bigger but I still dont really look pg, just fat.It all down to the custard KK,which is the superior type in my opininon..

Could only scan the thread from last week but who was it asked about where to get nice but cheapish baby clothes? Its a bit hit and miss, but H and M often have some quite funky things, and also their maternity clothes are not bad and at the momnet all that nice mini mode stuff is half price in Boots.I went crazy buying dd things in there last week and consequently am now officially the poorest I have ever been, including when I was a student.Thank the lord we get paid early for Christmas tomorrow else I would be stuffed!

I am going to the Wolsely for afternoon tea tomorrow, (nice gaff in London for those not from these parts).Lovely sandwiches without crusts, cakes and I think I might have a little glass of champers whilst im at it, since its Christmas and I dont get to go there every day of the week, (tho last time was there, Boycey from only fools and horses was on the next table).
Which puts a thought in my head, do any of you London ladies fancy a meet up at some point? All this talk of Hammermsith Primark etc makes me think its silly not to, as Im in there all the time, (our head office is in Hammersmith), and also I work no distance from you 12days..Just a thought-hope you dont think im being stalkerish..

My dh has got us tickets to go and see the Arctic Monkeys in July.Baby 2 will only be 2 months old.Do you think thats too soon to leave it overnight?(with parents, clearly, not on its own..)

Well I feel very festive and jolly even though Im working nearly all of the Christmas period, (just Christmas day and boxing day off).Got quite emotional last night as was thinking about this time last year when I was huge and waiting for dd to arrive-my little boxing day treat as she turned out to be..It was such a lovely time..Really excited about the new one now if still a bit nervous about coping with the two of them being so little..
Lildrummer is it you with the 9 month old?Have you any thoughts on what you will do regarding a buggy?I only have a ford Fiesta so I need one that folds into a small space..

Sorry this is so long..have missed you all..

Largevgandt-is there any chance of borrowing your ball dress-have a black tie wedding on the 30th and am stuck totally for a frock..Hope its all going well with dh-is he home till after Christmas?Loving the darling buds as well-if I could live in a TV prog that one would be it..I am so so sad..

love to all..

Baublesbenson · 18/12/2006 12:54

Lildrummer,

I've been off air all weekend and only just catching up - I'd use a sewing machine, but you could do it by hand. There are a million knitting patterns for shrugs, and I'd even offer but I know that at current rates I'd probably finish it when your dc is about 3...

I had another look at next later and noticed that most of the shrugs they have are for wee ones (ok if your're small...)

lildrummerKel · 18/12/2006 12:57

Heya Scooter welcome back!

I've also got a frock if you need - full skirted, below knee, red satin from Monsoon (non mat) size 12. Sash ties round the waist, wide-ish straps. I'm normally an 8 in the top half.

I'm also up for a London meetup. We live in SW London so won't be so easy but honestly, if I can't get into the city now dunno how the heck I'm going to get anywhere when I've got two LOs to cart around!!

So yes, I'm def thinking about things like double buggies (just took me 10 tries to spell 'double' correctly, gahhh. What is 'dubble'?!?). I've read a ton of reviews and seems the Phil&Teds is very well loved and can fit into a Ford Ka (!!) if need be. We're giving up our beloved Mini anyway but kids come first... Anyway the other big choice is Maclaren twin but it's too wide IMHO and I want the option later to remove a seat once DS is old enough for buggy board or walking. He'll only be 15mo when the new one comes along tho might be awhile, worth investing in a decent one.

Pinkjennyjoytotheworld · 18/12/2006 13:58

I have to have a Bugaboo. I'm obsessed. This baby is so stubborn - it moves and as soon as I put my hand on my tummy to feel it, it stops.

Can't wait to find out the flavour. Hoorah for Sky and her baby girl!

largevirginbirthandtonic · 18/12/2006 16:14

Scooter....> Ive missed you. Course you can borrow my dress i will put it in the post with yours (so sorry, crap at getting round to sending them back) How lovely a night out is great for making you feel all festive.

The phil and teds are fab....i have one. I love it, it fits in my miniscule boot too. I am being very recklass when it comes to this baby, i have my heart set on a silver cross kensington. I borrowed one from a friend for 2 of my children but she has packed it away in storage now. I need one..... They are soooooo lovely. Im a bit mean when it comes to dressing the kids too, the twins have only just been allowed to wear jeans, the babies are always in smocked rompers and flanellette. Rachel Riley is my fave kiddies clothes company, so expensive but the sales are great. Aztec are good too for their lovely vintage knit wear, i love the 1950's pram coats and bonnets.....

You are probably all laughing at me now

We did loads of wrapping pressies today, i feel very festive

lucyw19 · 18/12/2006 17:18

Hello everyone, any newbies especially. Grr I can't type on an English keyboard.

Hope everyone is well, we have neally come to the end of our UK trip. It's been hectic but really nice to catch up with family and friends.

I've missed you all but haven't had much chance this week to get on. Sorry!

I have just spent all afternoon packing the car, god I'm glad we have a people carrier but it is still full to the roof. I can't believe we managed to get it all in. Taking all the familys gifts back for all of us, and Mum and Dad and ds b'day which is on the 27th. Just wan't to go home now really as the car is packed but still have a day and night at Grannies tommorow.

lg&t haven't heard from you yet? Hope you are still able to meet tommorow? I have warned grannie and she is quite happy for an hours peace. I'm going to come and find you at the school gates if I don't hear from you anyway. hehe joking!

Will catch up properly as soon as I am back, I'm dying to read up on some of the flavours we have arriving, some of you must know by now?

SnowyMeadow · 18/12/2006 18:52

Hi ladies

MN - hope you have a safe journey back home.

Creena - sorry your bosses are being such t**ts. Make sure you stand your ground!

Bubs is moving around a fair bit, mainly once i am sitting or lying down. Think i knacker it out at the weekends with all the things I plan.

Hope the scans go well tomorrow for you lucky ladies. I am counting down til Friday. I am really looking forward to it.

I have been very domesticated this weekend. Have made soup, a casserole and a meatball dish. As well as making some yummy breakfasts and lunches. Now i know that this sounds like fairly obvious Wife/Mother duties, but i suck at that. Dh is fantastic and does my share as well sometimes. I think i have worried him as he wants to know what has happened to his wife. I think it must be early nesting! The only bugger of it is, is that my brand new dishwasher broke after ONE week!! THe door wont shut and hasnt for a week now. We have the repair man coming out on Wednesday, but that doesnt help the ten ton on washing up i created whilst becoming the new Nigella Lawson!

Hope you are all well and have had a good Monday.

partridgeannemepeartree · 18/12/2006 20:36

Hello all
I received my relaxation hypno type cds from my yoga teacher today. Went off to do a half hour relaxation session and my headache of two days has GONE - hooray..mind you it might have been because I could hear DH having real probs with DS and I wasn't involved - that's relaxation for you!
OK - it's a big step from a headache to labour pains but, hey, I', hopeful.
Lots of mat shopping in H&M today - yummy big grey long cardi thing - and quite a lot else.
