Jo the alcohol should burn off in cooking so should be fine. One of my pregnancy cookbooks has a recipe for beef in red wine sauce, so sure you will be fine x

Vickie360 · 24/11/2015 11:50

Thanks for the good luck messages I will let you know how it goes. Good luck with yours lily it seems like a lifetime while your waiting for it

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 11:54

I cooked a beef stew on Sunday with half a bottle of red wine in it and ate loads of it. I always thought the alcoholic content cooked off when you used it cooking? I might be wrong though, and would then feel very guilty. But it tasted bloomin lovely though.

Cookiesandcoffee · 24/11/2015 11:56

I would think you will be fine jo - I have the same issue with in laws putting alcohol in gravy! But my children have survived it Wink

Good luck for your scan tomorrow vickie hope everything is all good in all the right places. I would phone up in advance! My docs had changed the procedure so I had to book in for docs first which added to the time and i nearly didn't get seen til I would be 10 weeks. Grr.
bluebell and sonia really hope the sickness eases soon. Hopefully in a few weeks it will have buggered off. I'm just eating what I feel will help and not going too long. Would explain my expanding body (in all areas!)

Just waiting at the docs now.. Tick tock Hmm

Kaytee1987 · 24/11/2015 12:17

Hi everyone thanks for the welcome. I have the worst sick feeling just now :( think I need my lunch. I know it's early to be thinking about this but I'm worrying about being able to find maternity swimwear, I'm a 32G and size 10 on the bottom so need a proper underwired / sized suit (usually wear bikinis but probably won't want to show off my tummy later stages) anyone have any advice from previous pg? Xx

Jo6526 · 24/11/2015 12:27

Thank you everyone you're right cooking burns alcohol off xx

lilygirl81 · 24/11/2015 12:44

It's daft how much little things panic me, having gone from almost being sick at my desk, I just managed a small bowl of soup, some salt & vinegar crackers and some fruit without feeling at all sick. Panicking now that I'm the last 2 hours everything has gone wrong

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 12:56

kaytee are you katie price with those stats ? Wink very lucky. i'm a size 12 with small boobs so probably not the best person to advise but i got my mat swimming costume from mothercare last time. i hate it though it literally looks like a bin bag. so i'll be watching for other's recommendations too.

lilygirl the sickness feelings come and go luckily. otherwise i wouldn't be able to go to work.

Kaytee1987 · 24/11/2015 13:05

God no sonia mine are real so I don't hold out much hope of them looking great after pg and bf Blush on the downside shoulder and back pain isn't fun and I spent £300 on bikinis for holidays last time :( I want to keep swimming so will definitely need to find something, hopefully someone can suggest somewhere xx

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 13:07

i had my midwife booking in appointment this morning. the midwife i was supposed to see was off so i had a locum and she could only do half the appointment which was disappointing. i have to go back again on 15th Dec (it was supposed to be in 2 weeks but there were no appointments) with my completed forms to finish off my booking in and to get my maternity notes.

the main thing is she did the form to fax to the hospital to book in my 12 week scan to hopefully get it booked in this side of xmas (like i know a lot of us are hoping to do). my 12 weeks is 19 Dec so she's requested it for that week so hopefully it will be. it will make a lot of difference to xmas and ny if we can get past those tests and relax. last time we had a really high probability of edwardes syndrome from the 12 week tests (1:6) and i had a CVS which we then had to wait days for the results for. it was a really stressful time and i really want to get that out of the way this time.

hope everyone else is ok today?

8+3

VulvaVoom · 24/11/2015 13:09

Thanks all. It's just about sinking in now, all happened so fast. The tube had ruptured as well.

I wanted to say that I had no bleeding at all with this, so if you have pain but no bleeding, make sure you get in checked ASAP.

Good luck with all your pregnancies and little bundles. I actually, weirdly feel blessed that I have a DD already and that my other tube is OK.

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 13:10

oh and on the way back i popped to the shops and bought:
a pack of bagels
a multi pack of orange clubs
a pack of 12 mini sausage rolls
4 cheese baps

!! and i normally eat really healthily. plain carbs all the way at the moment!

Kaytee1987 · 24/11/2015 13:10

Fingers crossed you get your scan before Christmas, mine isn't until middle of January so have booked a private scan for 22nd December so we can tell family & close friends before Christmas :) I've just realised my mw appointment is actually 15th December too not 16th. Xx

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 13:15

oh vulvavoom that sounds so tough and well done for being strong and seeing the positives at a time like this. you are right you are blessed with your DD.

redstrawberries101 · 24/11/2015 13:41

Sonia shoe - was your baby ok despite the high probability of illness?

Voom - well done for your strong attitude, you are an inspiration. Was your pain severe?

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 13:45

yes she's a very happy healthy 3 year old now. edwardes syndrome is very serious and from what i can remember of all the googling i did at the time, most babies only live about 6 months and never leave the hospital as they need so much support.

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 13:46

melvali just to be clear, we had the CVS test and that came back negative so we knew before we continued through the pregnancy. we had to wait a few days for those test results though.

redstrawberries101 · 24/11/2015 14:07

aW sorry to hear that. I know someone who had a baby with that syndrome
And she only lived to
About 2 months. Very sad.

I've just stuffed down a bean burger from Burger King. Feeling yucky now.

gnat99 · 24/11/2015 14:13

Thanks for the warning Voom. Really kind of you to think of the rest of us at a time like this. You do seem an extremely strong person. Good luck with everything. Flowers

gnat99 · 24/11/2015 14:18

Glad you had your appointment Sonia, even if only half-done! At least they got the scan form off so hopefully you should get the scan before Christmas.

I've got my booking in appointment in an hour. I'm actually getting nervous. I'm sure this headache is at least partly stress.

I'm not having any cravings, feel quite lucky when I hear all the stories. Just feeling a strong urge for healthy food, more veg than normal. And fewer sugar cravings then normal. Weird!

My nausea doesn't seem to be triggered by anything in particular - last night I had homemade (by DH) pumpkin soup and some crusty bread and I felt terribly sick after it. Had to spend ages explaining to him that it wasn't his cooking - he really is an excellent cook!

Whenever I do feel terribly queasy, I can really only stomach plain rice cakes with nothing on.

Bluebell20 · 24/11/2015 14:20

Loving the shopping list Sonia. I was most miffed in Sainsbury's yesterday because I REALLY WANTED a particular snack that I suddenly remembered from parties of my childhood... Cheesy buttons! The really thin ones that were hollow inside - remember them?! Anyway, they don't seem to exist any more - gutted!

Had the most incredible lunch today which totally fixed my nausea for a while - Covent Garden slow roasted tomato soup, with granary baguette and sliced avocado. MMMMMMM. I might be having the same again in an hour or so!

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 14:45

melvali that is very sad to hear about your friend and her baby. can i ask, was it detected at the 12 week tests? i'm quite worried about these tests and as i'm now 40 i'll be more aware of downs (i've already had a little read about it)

good luck for your booking appointment gnat

Cheery1 · 24/11/2015 15:21

lilly - it's the smell of greasy stuff that makes me feel ill. Bacon being the worst! Not too bad though so can't complain too much. Also there's lots of bloating in these early days so I've read, so I've given up on skinny jeans or anything tight on the waist, just too uncomfortable!!!

Vickie - good luck with your scan tomorrow, as Mordirig said keeping finger, eyes and toes crossed for you xxx

Cheery1 · 24/11/2015 15:22

That'll be keeping fingers crossed not finger, that'd be weird! x

redstrawberries101 · 24/11/2015 15:33

Soniashoe - she was more an acquaintance than friend so I'm not sure when they were made aware. They seemed prepared for it though.

It must be such a tough decision to make.

6+2 today. Just taking it one
Day at a time and keeping an open mind
