Hi all, couldn't sleep so thought I would come on here and see what I missed yesterday. What sadness in our group, Roto and Voom so sorry to read your news and hear of your losses. Hope you have some great people supporting you in real life as well as the support of our little group.

MissClarke86 · 24/11/2015 07:04

I'm so sorry to hear the sad news :(

pulpi · 24/11/2015 07:16

Oh Voom, I'm missed your news last night. Sorry to hear about your loss.

BergamotMouse · 24/11/2015 07:20

So sorry to hear the sad news Roto and Voom. I'm thinking of you both.

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 07:39

I'm sorry to hear your news vulvavoom and wish you all the best. There has been a lot of sad news on the thread recently which shows the reality of these fragile first few weeks.

beautician you asked about food for nausea. I just turn to cards. Things like bagels with marmite and cheese, flapjacks, toast, anything from greggs! It is making me put on weight but it's the only thing that helps me and my nausea has been really bad most other things make me feel sick just the thought of them. And lots of liquids. I've been drinking decaffeinated tea and squash because water tastes metallic to me at the moment.

I've got my midwife booking in appointment today.

Bluebell20 · 24/11/2015 08:40

Sonia, I agree about carbs for food for nausea. Plain and dry! I've been nibbling on Dr Karg's pumpkin seed & Emmental cheese crackers, and have just started on the odd Rich Tea biscuit as well. Sometimes all I need to do is just break off a corner and nibble that - just so there's something in my stomach!

Good luck with your midwife appointment!

Gx91 · 24/11/2015 08:45

Sonia - don't worry about needing carbs think we are all indulging in the naughty stuff lol good luck for ur app today xx

Bel- early morning for u , hope u get a nap at some point being super tired on top of pregnancy hormones could be a rocky combination! Lol X

I was woken up at 7 with a very happy birthday girl ( she got a lala teletubby and is over the moon with her ! ) 2 today what a fast couple of years ! X

Kaytee1987 · 24/11/2015 08:56

Due with #1 at the end of July, have my midwifes appointment 16th December, private scan 22nd December and nhs scan 13th January. So excited :) I'm 5+2 today xx

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 09:17

Hi kaytee and all the other people who have joined the thread in the last couple of days. there are so many of you sorry i can't name you all. but its lovely to have so many of us and CONGRATULATIONS everyone Flowers

bluebell we're obviously at the peak of nausea time at 8 weeks if we're both feeling it so strongly. i've got loads of q's for the poor midwife! i had a c-section last time so want to ask about VBAC, plus i had high blood pressure at the end last time (hence the c-section) so want to try to do what i can to avoid that this time if i can. plus they found a cyst on my ovary at my private scan the other day which apparently is common but i want to know more about it as its worrying me a little bit (I've googled loads about it and it looks pretty common). anyway, going to get my (theoretical) moneys worth out of this appointment Grin

Stinkilinky · 24/11/2015 09:19

How many weeks are you all seeing your midwife for your booking in appointment?

I've been told it will be the first week of Jan, seems a bit late.

I can't remember when I saw her with my last pregnancy but I know that I ended up cutting it very fine for tests etc.

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 09:25

hi stinkylinky the first appointment is usually at around 8 weeks, and its called a booking appointment. when will you be 8 weeks? (I made my appointment 4 weeks ago and the last 4 weeks have felt like 4 months they have gone so slowly!)

some docs surgeries like to do a doc appointment before the first midwife appointment but some don't. i had one and it was a complete waste of both of our time (he had no idea about pregnancy or maternity and just told me not to smoke, take drugs or drink alcohol....er....ok then) except i used the appointment to get my flu jab but i requested that in advance.

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 09:26

sorry if all that sounded a bit obvious, but someone up thread who is on her first pregnancy was asking about the appointments so thought i'd put in lots of detail just in case

Mordirig · 24/11/2015 09:27

Oh no, Sad more sad news. So sorry Voom I hope they are taking good care of you, sending lots of post op hugs your way.

Stinkilinky Most Booking in appts are between 7-10 weeks as you need that appt first before you get your scan appt which needs to ideally be between 10-13 weeks to get the most accurate information.

How far along are you now?

Vickie360 · 24/11/2015 09:27

Hi I'm 5+6 and I haven't made my booking app yet I've got a scan tomorrow so I wanted to make sure everything was ok first so I'm hoping I haven't left to late to get everything done.

Mordirig · 24/11/2015 09:30

Is it a private scan Vickie360?
They can book ahead appointments by a few weeks, just tell them when you're supposed to be 8 weeks and they should pencil you in.
If god forbid something goes wrong (knocks on wood) you can always cancel.

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 09:32

vickie it might be worth calling your GP to get it booked in as sometimes it can be a few weeks wait for an appointment and you'll want to have yours in less than 3 weeks?

Vickie360 · 24/11/2015 09:37

Mordirig no it's an nhs as I've had a previous ep so they need to check its in the right place. I know I should just book it but I'm really nervous it's going to be bad news! It's just such a stressful time for everybody

Stinkilinky · 24/11/2015 09:44

I'm only roughly around 4 weeks. My cycles hadn't gone back to normal from my previous pregnancy before falling pregnant this time so my due date so far is just an estimate!

Mordirig · 24/11/2015 09:45

That makes sense Vickie360 I can't imagine how stressful and worrying this time is for you, Its hard not to get your hopes up, but just try and focus on being as positive as you can.
There would be no harm in you booking an appt with your midwife, like I said you can always cancel and it depends on your area but like SoniaShoe mentioned sometimes there can be quite a wait.
Good luck for tomorrow, fingers, eyes and toes crossed for good news [happy]

Vickie360 · 24/11/2015 09:50

Thank you mordirig I think it's a scary time for everyone especially with all the sad news we have had over the last few days x

Mordirig · 24/11/2015 09:51

Stinkilinky In that case the MW will probably just go from lmp as standard.
My cycles have always been varied, any where from 25 -40 days and sometimes even months go by without any sign of a period, although that's happened less since I've had children.
Let your MW know and if she thinks its relevant she will tell you.
Sounds like you'll need to be seen around Christmas time, which can be busy so I would book it in asap.

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 09:55

wishing you all the best for your scan tomorrow then vickie. i'm sure its a nervous wait [cuppa]

SoniaShoe · 24/11/2015 09:56

ha that's supposed to be Brew not [cuppa] ! too lazy to check and just guessed.

lilygirl81 · 24/11/2015 10:22

Vickie good luck for the scan tomorrow, I'm in the same boat, booked in for a 6 week scan next Thursday, but have my midwife appointment that day too.

Well today I am really uncomfortable, how is it possible at 4 + 5!!! My work skirt and tights feel super tight and if it was physically possible for me to be easily sick, I'd have thrown up at my desk. Thankfully I have hydrotherapy this afternoon so will be away most of the day. Typical, as I managed a lot of my fruit & yoghurt this morning before the feel of it in my mouth got disgusting, so thought maybe I was going to have a break from the nausea.

Is anyone else finding the it's the texture of things that is making you feel ill? Anything greasy or slightly slimy and I can't get it out my mouth fast enough.

Jo6526 · 24/11/2015 10:40

Feeling tired today! But no symptoms as such.

Can I cook with red wine? I'm going to friends for dinner this week and she normally out glass of red wine in her spag Bol!
