I keep meaning go buy a counting kicks braclet. I keep telling DH that I haven't felt anything for a while and he looks at me like I'm mad and points out I said he was kicking an hour ago. I blame baby brain!

Welcome Polly!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 27/01/2016 09:09

Talking of "me me me" (you totally didn't do that southy!!) my morning has been like this...
Barely slept between 2.30 and my alarm, but then up an 'attem to go through with the builder all the remaining bits and pieces that need doing in the kitchen, including phone calls with a v bleary DP just off the red-eye flight from Canada, calls to the kitchen designer to figure out WTF they delivered, emails to plan taxi arrival in Goa on Friday, calling work to make sure a few things are sorted - might not sound like much (before 9am on v little sleep) but I am feeling all MUM POWER this morning!! Like I can do anything!! (Either that or I will collapse in an exhausted heap before 10am...)
Wish me luck with my 3000 point to-do list today!!
(Me me me, sorry Wink)

Nicky333 · 27/01/2016 10:04

I thought about getting one of those kick counting bracelets but I've downloaded an app for my phone. It's called Baby Kicks and I think it was 79p. I've not used it yet though.

Madam did a MASSIVE kick yesterday evening. It was as though she was body slamming my stomach!

Welcome Polly and good luck with the not collapsing in an exhausted heap Can't Grin

Southy84 · 27/01/2016 10:51

How exciting polly I assume you found out you are having a boy? That's lovely you are getting lots of movement.

Hehe cant thanks you made me feel less paranoid, think I've been shut up in the house for too long!! I am Shock at how much you've done already! I am feeling so lazy it's untrue!! when does your flight leave and how long are you away for?

That app sounds good nicky I didn't even think about a app, although I have a severe lack of storage on my phone so not sure I could have downloaded anyway. It's so exciting to hear about baby movements now, time is picking up. I have my 25 weeks midwife appointment tomorrow and quite looking forward to it, it's like another milestone.

Is anyone suffering with painful boobs again? Mine seem to have flared up again and have grown again .... Think I'm going to have no choice but to buy more bras.

PollyPocket100 · 27/01/2016 11:32

Good luck, can't!

Definitely a boy. DP very kindly booked a surprise gender scan for my birthday so I found out quite a while ago!

ODog · 27/01/2016 12:37

Taking of resurgence of early symptoms. I randomly puked this morning after catching a waft from DS's nappy. Not been sick or even felt sick for months now! Crazy! Feel fine now. I hope this isn't the start of morning sickness again....

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 27/01/2016 13:31

odog if I had to deal with nappies I'm sure I'd be feeling pukey too!! And about the boobs - I read somewhere that 25ish weeks is usually when you need to buy yet another phase of bras due to rib-cage expansion... Should probably buy bra extenders instead but so far I'm just suffering!!
We leave tomorrow evening for 2 weeks - squeee!! And I turn 26 weeks tomorrow, according to my app I now have 99 days of pregnancy remaining - WTF??!!
Ok more busy busy to get on with now! Am amazed at myself today!!

Southy84 · 27/01/2016 13:31

What a lovely gift from your DP polly :)

No odog :( I will take the painful boobs over nausea and sickness, hope it was a one off!

frozensmoothie · 27/01/2016 14:10

Welcome Polly

Hope you have a great holiday cant and your day calms down a bit, although it is very satisfying when you manage to fly through a long to do list!

I think my rib-cage is expanding too so bra extenders will definitely be needed soon. I don't really want to buy more new bras as I already bought a load a few months ago so hopefully extenders will be enough.

Slightly worried that over the past few days I've developed pain around my pubic bone. Hoping it will settle down and this isn't the start of SPD.

GunShotResidue · 27/01/2016 14:59

Good luck with your to do list cant!

My boobs are a bit sore, although I'm not sure I would have noticed if DD didn't use me as a climbing frame!

I have an app but I'm rubbish at remembering to log it.

Hope the pain goes soon frozen

PollyPocket100 · 27/01/2016 16:24

No sickness for me until a few weeks ago. Punishment for thinking I'd managed to avoid it I reckon!

Southy84 · 27/01/2016 16:30

Sorry cant I seem to have crossed posts with you! Thanks for the bra info, that makes sense im 25
Weeks monday. Sadly I think I will need new ones again as the cup is cutting my boobs in half. No issues with the back size. Annoyed to be buying new ones again too frozen!!

ODog · 27/01/2016 16:48

I've noticed my bras are right round my back too. I'm just going to go straight to nursing bras once they get too uncomfortable.

Thanks - I'm hoping it was a one off puke too!!

ODog · 27/01/2016 20:50

So after a bit of self doubt and spotting a bargain on a FB selling site I have bought a Phil and teds sport double. after banging on for months about how I was going to manage with a buggy board and slings . Not convinced I'll ever get both kids in it at one time but at least I have the option now. Picked it up earlier and been playing with it since DS went to bed and I'm actually really pleased with it. Even as a single. I didn't think I would ever want to put a small baby in one of those one up one underneath arrangements but it's really not too bad and I like that baby can lie flat and I will be able to see her and make eye contact, like in my parent facing travel system.

Nicky333 · 28/01/2016 08:24

We've booked a babymoon! Well, we're off down to London at the end of February for my birthday weekend. Well, to be perfectly honest, we're going down to London for a cup final and fitting a weekend around it but hey, I'll take anything Grin

I'm not actually going to the final, just DH. I'll be sleeping or shopping during that time...

Daphnedolittle · 28/01/2016 09:32

Hey ladies,
I was once a member of this thread a looong time ago for a few weeks when I first got my BFP. I then had 7 weeks of migraines which were hell and was signed off work, think it was a combination of pregnancy and having a hard time at work with a horrible boss!
I then had a 20 week scan that showed I had a cervix length of 11mm (should be 35-50mm) and was put at high risk of premature labour. I was so worried I'd lose the baby as they didn't seem able to offer reassurance that the baby wouldn't come any time!
I'm now 26+1 and my cervix has remained stable and closed and I go for an internal scan every 3 weeks till the birth to check it.

This is my first baby and we are having a boy! Starting to allow myself to believe I'm having a baby now we have got to the stage of viability. I can start getting excited and decided to rejoin the thread Smile
I've had a little read through and glad to hear all is going well for you all.
Fingers crossed we all have a healthy happy 3 months!

Southy84 · 28/01/2016 10:08

Hope you're feeling ok today odog great news on the pram, I do like a bargain buy :) we managed to get a mamas and papas cot bed for £20, it's in fab condition and just need to get a new mattress.

The baby moon sounds lovely nicky I love the idea of that!

daphne welcome back it's lovely to have you back, so sorry to hear you've had such a worrying time but fantastic news that things seem to have settled down and that they are keeping a close eye on you. Congrats on your little boy, how exciting :)

ParsnipSoup · 28/01/2016 10:12

Welcome back Daphne! Sorry to hear that things have been a bit rubbish for you up to now, but massive hurrah for a stable cervix and getting excited!! It find it strange now that I'm past viability that my baby is bigger than some of the babies I've looked after (and I'm only 23+2!!).

Cant I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing holiday to make up for all the kitchen drama.

Nicky Babymoon sounds like a lovely plan. I've been trying to get my DP to agree to a babymoon but we have no time in Feb where we're off for more than 24hrs together and I don't have a March rota yet. Really fancy a nice couple of grown up days away pre-baby.

I can sympathise with all of you with growing boobs (although mine are still probably smaller than most!!). I've given up with normal bras mostly now and I'm wearing sports bras. Sooooooooooo comfy, although I've now turned into the least sexy person ever with my sports bra and hairy legs :-s

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 28/01/2016 10:53

Welcome back daphne and yay for finally being able to get excited!!
The "viability" thing is so weird in some ways - when I posted on another thread about going to India at 26 weeks I got asked if I was happy about the idea of giving birth there - errr no, but nor would I choose to give birth at 26 weeks in London!
Checked in for our flights and going to work for a few hours, ironically I think the kitchen will be finished today - 3 months after the start of the "4 week" project!!
Am feeling weird about going - excited in some ways and terrified in others! Doesn't help that I woke up in the night with severe leg cramp that made me tell and woke DP and still hurts today - perfect prep for a long haul flight?!
Wishing everyone a good Thursday with no puking, boob ache or pregnancy moodiness!! Wink

Southy84 · 28/01/2016 13:26

Do you work on a neo-natal unit parsnip? I will join you on the un-sexy front, I barely ever wear makeup at the moment and feel like a slob!

cant you will have an amazing time, if you worried about going into labour the whole pregnancy you would barely go anywhere and you are right no place is a good place
To go into early labour. Do you have flights socks? I'd wear a pair of shoes you can easily slip on or off and maybe a pair of slippers/slipper socks? My feet swelled up on a flight to New York pre-pregnancy and I stupidly wore boots and took them off...could barely get them back on when we landed! I'd also buy a couple of bottles of water once you are through security as I struggled to drink enough. Not sure how long the flight is but try and get up and move around too if possible. I'm sure you will be fine and be there before you know it :)

ODog · 28/01/2016 13:59

No puking or nausea today thank goodness southy as we had a busy morning testing out the new buggy, stocking up at the aldi baby event and then DSs swimming lessons. He's now napping abd I'm have a coffee.

We had a lovely baby moon in the Cotswolds around this time when I was of with DS and we still look back fondly on it. Lots of lovely grown up meals in nice restaurants. Enjoy your trips cant and nicky

Welcome back daphne. So glad things are a bit less scary. Have they given you pessaries? A friend of mine had a short cervix and had daily pessaries and fortnightly scans. She ended up overdue, induced and birthed a chubby 8lb something.

ODog · 28/01/2016 14:07

Also I've been thinking about a gift from new baby to DS. I don't think he will totally get that it's from the baby (he won't be quite 2) but I think it will be good for him to have something fun and exciting. I was thinking of getting him a little George pig rucksack so he can have his own 'big boy' bag when we go out. Then fill it with fun things that are practical for me to do with him while I'm BF. I'm thinking sticker books, colouring, stories, peppa DVDs (he is a peppa addict) etc. what do you guys who are 2nd, 3rd+ timers think?

ParsnipSoup · 28/01/2016 14:54

Cant you'll have to get DH to give you intermittent leg rubs throughout the flight and let you stretch out into his leg room! It's so good that your kitchen is going to get finished today! One less thing to be on your mind while on holiday. I have to admit, I'm more than a little bit envious of you!

Yes Southy, I do work on a neonatal unit... Hence my super-paranoia about so many pregnancy things. Great place to work when not pregnant, less great now!!

ODog I'm only a 1st timer but I think that's such a lovely idea!!

Daphnedolittle · 28/01/2016 17:41

Thanks for the welcome back messages Smile

odog - I take pessaries every night and I have scans every 3 weeks. She seems to think the pessaries must be working.

icant it's funny cause I never even knew what 'viability' was and it would never have occurred to me that a baby could survive at 24 weeks! Suddenly it became something I was clinging onto as I was so worried about going into labour.

We were going to go on a baby moon somewhere exotic late January/early feb but couldn't go, luckily we hadn't booked something - first time it's helped being so disorganised Grin. We went to ireland instead go see DH's family. It was lovely to see them. I think going away at this stage in a normal low risk pregnancy is a great idea though! Make the most of it for sure! Smile

southy so good to see you still going strong I remember you had a few scares at the start! Has it been smooth sailing lately for you?

parsnip it must be so emotional on a neonatal unit! How do you cope! Must be amazing at times too, such an interesting job.

I'm starting to look into buying things now. We are tempted by an icandy strawberry travel system or an oyster 2. There are so many options to choose from! I don't want to waste money but can't help being tempted. Need to start looking for bargains!

ODog · 28/01/2016 18:44

Yes sounds like they are working daphne. Smile like is say, a friend in the same position ended up induced after all that.

Lots of people I know really recommend oysters for value for money. Usually a bit cheaper than Icandys and from what I hear, just as good.
