Happy Saturday everyone! What has everyone been up to?
DP left for Canada this morning and thanks to yet another fucking debacle with our kitchen delivery people I only managed a few hours out in the sunshine before having to dash home without doing any food shopping. Have spent the rest of the day in the sofa ignoring my to-do list and instead obsessively looking at baby items in the sales, trying to film my belly jumping around and...watching Netflix - but I'm just about realising that this isn't going to feed me, so I'll have to venture out again shortly, urgh!!
He's away until Wednesday and I have barely been home alone since I've been pregnant so please watch out for signs of Internet obsession and potential madness in me...you have been warned Confused

Southy84 · 24/01/2016 05:02

parsnip hows the phone, did you manage to rescue it?

I am awake again... Grrr. Worrying about baby not sure why just feeling anxious. Ive booked a quick reassurance scan for today to try to help me relax.

Luckily and I don't seem to have a problem with jobs and baby names being off the list for that reason - ours is more the problem of we are both fussy!! Although we have two
Shortlisted, one boy one girls name which is a start.

cant hope you sorted things with your kitchen. Im sure time will fly and it will be Wednesday before you know it, does your DP have any other trips before baby is due? I will keep checking in to make sure you are ok :) ps make the most of the extra room in bed! That's the bit I like when DH is away Grin

ODog · 24/01/2016 06:41

southy the worrying is horrible but hopefully your scan will reassure you. This baby moves much less than DS did so that's always playing on my mind but I just need to remember that they are 2 different people hopefully it means this one is a sleeper .

We had a lovely day yesterday as DH and I managed to pop into town with DS asleep in car, then transfer him into the buggy without waking him. We got all our little jobs done and managed a quick lunch before he woke up. I think we have only ever managed 3 lunches without someone having to hold/chase DS in over a year and a half. It was lovely! Then he went to bed nice and early and we had a Chinese in peace too. We normally all eat together which is lovely but it made a nice change to have 2 grown up meals. Making the most of it before the chaos starts again!

Planning a bike ride and sausage and mash for dinner today yum!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 24/01/2016 08:21

odog sounds like a lovely day! As much as I was cross with myself for being lazy yesterday it did occur to me that the days of being able to do this are numbered!!
And thanks for keeping an eye out southy Wink slept brilliantly wrapped in the duvet like a spring roll!! Although wasn't sure if I'd be able to sleep as I was a bit freaked out by the mouse which appeared on the rug right in front of me while I was watching TV and then ran under the sofa!! One of the joys of the kitchen building work taking so bloody long - great big holes have been left around the pipes and given the mice a brilliant new house to live in!! No more sightings yet though...

Southy84 · 24/01/2016 09:10

I'm glad in a way I have nothing to compare to otherwise Id worry more, baby has been quieter the past couple of days but I think it's moved position and Is lower. It sounds like you had a lovely day odog nice to have days like that before your new addition is here :)

Definifely don't feel bad about lazy days cant my days are permanent lazy it seems at the moment! Glad you slept well, I'm very jealous! Not so jealous about the mice situation although think my cats would take care of that Wink do you have a completion date? Or is it still work in progress? Sounds stressful

ParsnipSoup · 24/01/2016 09:58

My phone is semi-working!! Unfortunately the speaker seems completely broken so the alarm and actual phoning people doesn't work... Annoyingly this means I'll still have to claim on my insurance and spend £100 excess, but at least I can rescue all my pictures and things.

Southy I hope your scan goes well today and helps you to relax a bit more. Keep us updated!

Can't the kitchen situation sounds like a nightmare. Must be really chilly if there are holes in the walls!! I hope you have lots of pampering planned for while DH is away... I'd spend all the time starfished in bed eating custard creams.

ODog your day sounds lovely, but now you've made me want Chinese food and it's only breakfast time.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 24/01/2016 12:24

Kitchen was supposed to take 4 weeks and started at the end of October...
Needless to say I have given up trying to figure out when it will be finished!! We go away on Thursday for 2 weeks so don't know if realistically it'll be done before we go/while we're away/after we're back!! Thank goodness we didn't leave it till the last minute!! Mind you we also need to make our mezzanine bedroom non-open plan so still plenty of work to be done before the baby comes...
Custard creams are such a good plan!! Been to yoga and had brunch with a friend now and currently wandering a bit aimlessly in the direction of John Lewis...

GunShotResidue · 25/01/2016 07:44

I hope your scan went well southy

I stepped off the bottom stair onto the side of my foot yesterday morning. There was a loud crunch and then I was on the floor, but I'm pretty sure I didn't hurt bump. Walking is agony, got up to use the loo in the night them laid awake for an hour or so whilst my foot throbbed! Hoping DD will consent to cuddling on the sofa reading and watching movies today!

Southy84 · 25/01/2016 08:50

Oh no parsnip at least you tried and at least you have insurance, although £100 is something you could do without paying. So pleased you can save your pics etc.

Blimey cant that's a long time to wait for your kitchen! I have my fingers crossed that it will be finished by the time you are back.

Keep an eye on your foot gunshot sounds painful! I have a friend who tripped over the end of their bed and broke their hand, they didn't realise it was that bad Til the following day.

The scan went so well, I ended up paying £5 extra and got a cd of images 4 print outs and upgraded to 4d, DH and I didn't want 4d to start with as we thought babies never really look like babies, however totaly take that back! It was incredible, I ended up crying when I saw our baby's face, it now definitely feels real! We managed to remain team yellow which I think the sonographer enjoyed (think she was so used to looking at the other end it was nice to look at a face Grin ) we got amazing pictures, which apparently is fairly rate for at this point in pregnancy so I'm currently on cloud 9. For those who haven't had a 3d/4d scan I really would recommend it :)

frozensmoothie · 25/01/2016 09:14

Glad your scan went well southy. I'm very tempted by a 4d scan too.

Hope the kitchen gets sorted soon cant and that things are ok with your dp being away.

I had a busy day yesterday seeing friends and with a combination of insomnia and the cat wanting to sleep on my head I only managed about an hours sleep last night Sad Feeling horrendous today and went downstairs to find cat was sick all over the sofa Angry. Now have to clean it up, get to dentist appointment and then head straight to work when all I want to do is go back to bed!!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Southy84 · 25/01/2016 10:33

If you have a 'window to the womb' near you frozen there is a voucher code online if you google Emma's diary window to the womb voucher there's a code you add at checkout which gives you 20% off. I went for the basic package as I wasnt quite far enough along to pay for the gender scan but they do ask you if you want to find out the gender so you can just say you don't want to know. Mine cost £45 (was £40 but I upgraded to include a cd of images and 4 printouts and to get to see baby in 4d. if you book the gender one its £44 inc discount. Think you need to be a member of Emma's diary to qualify for the offer but it's an online sign up :) I have a cat that likes to do that and one that likes to be under the covers so they are permanently banned from our bedroom as I don't sleep with them in the room! That's not nice you had vomit to deal with too :( hopefully that was a one off, cat sick is gross...

ParsnipSoup · 25/01/2016 21:53

Your scan sounds amazing Southy, and actually quite a bargain. I think I'm going to look up if there's a window to the womb anywhere near here.

Turns out I panicked too soon about my phone and the reason it wasn't charging was a grain of rice (from drying it out) stuck up the charging port. The speaker still doesn't work, but I've decided just to use my hands free for now (and hope it miraculously recovers).

Having a bit of a sulk tonight. DP is one of those people who desperately needs his 6-8hrs sleep a night, so having finished a 13hr day at work which he knows has been rubbish he didn't even hang about for 15 minutes to let me talk about it. I shouldn't moan because he'd saved me some dinner and heated it up but I'd really have liked a chance to chat. It's extra annoying when I'm sleeping 3-4hrs a night and a lot of that is due to his bed hogging and flumping on him while I'm trying to sleep. I know it's nothing in the grand scheme of things but I'm actually really upset.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 25/01/2016 22:26

parsnip how bloody dare he!! Wink but don't worry about being annoyed with him about it, I probably would too! Having said that one night a few weeks ago DP was in a total RAGE with me for having woken him in the night (after I'd been awake for 70 bajillion hours just laying there trying to sleep) and daring to not apologise to him in the morning, so I think he might be prey to the pregnancy hormones too!!

Meanwhile, I just played a really fun game of trying on ALL my summer weather clothes to see if I have anything I can actually wear on holiday (we leave on Thursday for India!) - including bikinis!! Waaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!
(Although actually the bikinis weren't the worst of it, owing to the fact they have gaps where I have grown...it's the shorts/skirts/trousers made of bastarding fabric that are the worst!). Did have a few pleasant surprises of long forgotten items that actually work on my new barrel-shaped body though! Am feeling absolutely massive though and having all sorts of weird pelvic pains going on...

GunShotResidue · 26/01/2016 09:18

Glad the scan went well southy, it sounds amazing. Is it you who has an anterior placenta? I do, and did with DD, and find myself drinking a cold can of coke and lying on my side every few days as he's moved into a position where I can't feel him as much!

Cant have a good time! Where in India are you going?

Parsnip Pregnancy hormones mean I am always either annoyed at DH or really clingy!

I'm able to hobble without too much pain now, which is handy for running round after DD, although she was very good yesterday. Still taking it easy as I need to drive to her 2 year review on Thursday!

Southy84 · 26/01/2016 09:51

The stuck grain of rice made me smile Smile at least it's usable for a while. I would definitely have been upset too parsnip if my dh had done that!

I'm so jealous you're going on holiday cant sounds lovely escaping this weather! i don't think I could face trying on my pre-pregnancy clothes though! I don't think anything would fit :( at least you found some hidden surprises :) ive also been having pelvic pains and sure I felt some cervix kicks Hmm

gunshot well remembered - yes thats me with the anterior placenta, I have days with lots of movement (last night I could actually watch my stomach moving) but then I can go days where the baby has moved and I barely feel anything, it is a worry on the quiet days. Did they say if yours is high or low?

fizzydrink1807 · 26/01/2016 10:12

I have an anterior placenta also. I tend to feel movements either low down or right at the sides. mainly feel him at about 3 o clock in the morning!

GunShotResidue · 26/01/2016 11:15

They didn't say but I'd guess low, I feel high kicks or very low kicks. I'm starting to feel stuff inbetween, I guess as he's getting stronger, but still not as much. I'm a worrier anyway, which doesn't help! But I can usually get a few kicks when I drink a cold drink and lie down.

frozensmoothie · 26/01/2016 11:35

That's a great deal on the scan Southy I just checked and unfortunately there's no window to womb near me. I looked at the cost of a 4d scan at my local place and it's £170! Shock

I don't have an anterior placenta but still go for periods without feeling movement. She's definitely most active at night and in the day I can often only feel it low down and it feels quite faint. I think there's still a fair bit of room for them to hide at this stage as the midwife struggled to find the heartbeat at the 25 week appointment. As soon as she found it the baby moved away she must have moved quite far back as the doppler couldn't pick up the heart beat anymore.

PollyPocket100 · 26/01/2016 11:55

Hey ladies! I'm 24+2, mind if I join you?

ODog · 26/01/2016 12:34

Welcome polly.

I defo still have times where the baby hides a bit, although she is getting more active but still not predictable. However I don't think I ever noticed a pattern in DS's movements either.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 26/01/2016 13:33

Hi polly!

My baby has gone nuts the past few days with movement, so much more happening and more throughout the day (and night) when it seemed more specifically timed before now.and I'm sure I had my first cervix kick last night too...Confused
Right now I'm a massive stress case about going away (on THURSDAY!! I have south to do before then!!) - have interviewed 3 people to potentially join my team today and just quickly grabbing lunch before a meeting with my boss to discuss the 40 people who applied for my maternity leave - is exhausting !!

GrouchyKiwi · 26/01/2016 13:39

Hi Polly. Smile

Sonographer said my placenta is at the back and high up, but the baby has been swanning around as low as possible for the past few weeks (hence reattempt at scan). Last night, though, I started getting a lot of massive kicks closer to the middle so I think she's finally moving up. That would be nice; I feel very uncomfortable when she's low down and the round ligament pain is a nightmare.

Was supposed to go to a pregnancy osteopath today to get my back pain and SPD symptoms looked at but had to postpone as I have a miserable cold. I've basically been unwell with colds since the beginning of the month and really want a reprieve.

Southy84 · 26/01/2016 19:32

I often get low down kicks too fizzy they are like pube kicks Blush

I'm a worrier too gunshot I was annoyed when they said anterior placenta as I knew it wouldn't do my anxiety any good. Luckily I am feeling way more than I though I would at this stage

Hmm £170 blimey frozen!! That's a lot. I had a hiding baby when I went to the hospital last week, took ages to find the heartbeat, normally I would have been worried but we were watching my stomach moving at the time.

It sounds like movement is fairly similar for those with anterior and posterior placentas just that movement may be in slightly different places. I ordered one of those count the kicks bracelets to keep an eye on movements (although they've renamed to "kicks count" now)

Welcome polly :) is this your first baby?

Do we have stats anywhere?

How was the rest of your afternoon cant? Sounds like you're in need of your holiday!

Sorry to hear you're unwell grouchy hope you feel better soon, let us know how you get on at the osteopath when you see them. Hope you're currently relaxing with a nice Brew

Southy84 · 26/01/2016 19:33

Just read that back and I sound a bit me me me, sorry Blush I think I just had a relieved moment of "glad it's not just me these things are happening to"

PollyPocket100 · 27/01/2016 02:01

This is my first, yes. Only pattern with regards to movement is that he never stops!
