started a new thread as the old one was getting full up. Thought I would post the link to stats here too so people can update if they want!

I think that pain is the round ligament pain the books & apps mention. I get it when I roll over in bed (and it continued occasionally after I had DS). I've had it when I sneeze too.

Today my belly feels smaller. And I feel better. Which is obviously a worry! Scan is a week on Tuesday.

maybebabybee · 06/09/2015 13:25

another one with stabbing pain when sneezing - glad it's normal!

Looking really pregnant now even though my bump isn't 'hard' yet - fingers crossed it stops being squidgy soon as I'm feeling a bit like Father Christmas at the moment :S

marmitemofo · 06/09/2015 14:23

I'm also absolutely knackered despite being in second trimester Sad

My belly is massive but I can suck it in, so think its just my crappy stomach muscles stretched after last pregnancy and can't keep anything in!

My boss has been on holiday so haven't told her yet but if I see her this week I'm gonna have to do it - DP told me I look 'ridiculously pregnant' yesterday Confused

Another one here with the stabby pain - mine is only ever on the left. Been getting it for a few weeks now but all was well at my scan.

ffauxlivia · 06/09/2015 17:29

Hi, I'm a newbie here! Was going to hold off until 12 weeks (nervous from previous mc) but am 11wk 2 right now and just wanted to join in!

I'm 35, first baby due March 25, nervous about everything! Am from the UK but moved to the US recently (DH 2 year contract), so have come in here to keep my sanity as I miss the British humour and all my friends from home. Some American boards are just soooooo cheesy :)

Am kind of worried about lack of family support here, and lack of maternity leave (will likely have to be back at work after 10 weeks!!!!), but there's been good things too - i've had 2 scans already and the medical care is excellent provided you have good insurance (poor buggers who aren't so lucky).

I have endometriosis that was undiagnosed back home, fobbed off by doctors for 10 years, no baby joy ... ..came here, found a specialist and within a week had surgery - stage 3 endo diagnosed and removed....3 weeks after that boom, pregnant! So can't really complain, though of course I miss the NHS.

Anyway have the big scan next week and might start to relax a bit after that. Looking forward to sharing and supporting on here :)

maybebabybee · 06/09/2015 17:32

welcome ffaux, congratulations :)

must be tough being away from your family. Also am always shocked at how crappy American maternity leave is - my boss is American and was Shock that we get 9 months - a year.

What do people do with their young babies? Do they go into daycare?

QforCucumber · 06/09/2015 17:54

Hi ff we welcome you with pg tips and cadburys dairy milk Smile
It's amazing to actually stop and think how things are done elsewhere, my cousin is Canadian and remember her maternity procedures being quite different to ours. Also know that some American insurers won't pay for any scans until 20 weeks, id go crazy with impatience by then!
It is fantastic to hear your great story of fixing your health issues though - just that one thing and now here you are - where abouts in the states are you if you don't mind me asking?

Panic setting in for tomorrow now, really don't want to get too excited and be blindsided with another mmc but also know I can't spend the next 24 hours on such a downer argh.
Hope you shattered ladies have managed to squeeze a nap in today.

ffauxlivia · 06/09/2015 18:01

thank you maybe!

Yeah it's crazy - there is no official government leave so technically the US has the worst maternity leave provision in the western world. I work for a huge University so you would think they would offer more than small employers but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Yes people either use family, quit work or send babies to daycare, who take them as early as 3 months. And costs where I live are ridiculous too - will be 3/4 of my salary. Just can't imagine giving a baby to strangers that young so going to try and persuade my mum to come over for a month or 2 if visas allow, luckily she is about to retire.

I keep reading about how important it is to mother and baby's health for the mother to be home as long as possible after the birth, just can't believe it's not seen as important here! Work ethic is everything

Anyway rant over, there will be many wonderful things to look forward to as well I'm sure :)

ffauxlivia · 06/09/2015 18:07

Hey Q thank you! Oh man I miss cadbury's so much!

I'm in Minneapolis, and totally love it - very liberal and cool arty city, not what I was expecting at all. Yes I'm lucky my insurance covers all prenatal care for free with no restrictions - as an 'older' mum I also get a free harmony test.

Good luck with your scan tomorrow, mine is on Tuesday. It's awful having that dread after a previous mc, especially mmc but just remember odds are always in your favour of a successful pregnancy. Hopefully you can start enjoying things then :)

IndomitabIe · 06/09/2015 18:12

Yay, ffaux a due date buddy!

The U.S. Maternity leave thing is appalling. (That and the treatment of women in general). Obama needs to sort that out before he finishes.

When it comes to leave, I took less than 6 months last time and will do the same again. And will return ft too. But I'm not cut out for being at home with babies/small children. Our childminder/nursery are waaay better at it than I am!

I was worried about my smaller belly earlier. Then I ate everything I could find and it came straight back!

DH has just agreed to be a groomsman less than 2 weeks after my EDD. Might be interesting.

ThePug · 06/09/2015 18:36

Welcome ffaux - I'm a relative newbie too. I'm due to fly to Minneapolis for a conference in 2 weeks time so I'll have to get a weather forecast from you in advance (the reports I've seen say it's been lovely and hot up to now, then it'll start rapidly cooling off before I arrive)! I had no idea of the limited maternity leave you got in the US - shocking!

I need to have a serious chat with my business partner soon about what I'm going to do about work... it's a 2 person business, my colleague will be 67 in January and was planning to scale back from October 2016. I'd love to have a full year off, and if I was an employee I definitely would, but it doesn't look like it's going to be that easy!

ffauxlivia · 06/09/2015 19:05

IndomitabIe yay my first date buddy :) That's good to know you coped okay going back relatively early - I have to remember it's the norm here and everyone seems to manage, so I'm sure things will work out.

My belly has got bigger but at the top, not where the uterus is supposed to be popping up - so it's definitely just food and bloating :) Wasn't allowed to do any exercise due to 2 large cysts, and have only wanted to eat junk food - hope I don't get a lecture from the doc when I get weighed this week, ha!

Pug it's super hot and sticky right now - it's not actually nice heat, very humid and gross - so I'm looking forward to cooler temps next week. I think Sept is normally around 21 - 24 so should be quite nice when you're here! If you need any tips for the city let me know!

Your work situation sounds tough - yikes. Can you work from home more?

julesldn · 06/09/2015 19:33

thepug - im also part of a 2 person business (self employed) and we're going to have to have a big chat about what to do! She's been great about it so far (me not working much because I've just felt so rubbish) but it's really hard to know what's best for the baby, me and the business! Plus childcare is so expensive!

Welcome to all other newbies too ????

And also ginger, Id get the test done again with the NHS so they can give you the care/advice needed and so it's on their records too. I even found at my 12 week scan my sonographer was quite dismissive of info I told her from the early private scan I had so I think it would be awful to have that with a higher risk pregnancy I think. Whatever decision you make will be the right one though!

Crispylicious · 06/09/2015 20:25

Just catching up, now I'm back from holidays. Back to work tomorrow Sad No idea how I'm going to manage the nausea & exhaustion & work.... Probably by being a grumpy cow!

ff I'm a scan buddy, if not quite DD buddy! Anyone else got scans this week? q good luck with yours!

I'm sure she's no longer reading but wanted to send some big loves to lil. I was so sorry to read her sad news and it all seems very cruel and unfair.

ginger I'm pleased to read your test results were negative! I'm sure they'd have said if trisomy has shown up, as the combined test screens for that too. Now step away from google! (Easier said than done I know)

I'll be leaving work in the shit too. My boss is leaving at the end of Oct and my 2 immediate juniors have left, plus we're another member of the team down! We will be replacing them all, but I'll be leaving a v new team in charge. Ah well, am sure they'll manage and it was amazing last mat leave how quickly I forgot all about work... I can't imagine having just 10 weeks off. DD didn't start sleeping until 9 months, so I'd really have struggled to work before then, but she's always been a bad sleeper.

Sighing · 06/09/2015 20:55

I'm not sure if I am on stats. But I've been bumped up a week for EDD following my 12 week scan and I'm now Feb. I am sure there's some overlap though! With my history of 38 weeks I feel I'll be Feb. (No doubt i will now be proven wrong). Best wishes!

AdorabeezleWinterpop · 06/09/2015 21:04

Great news on the results, Ginger. Definitely go for the NHS ones too.

Gingerlady123 · 06/09/2015 21:17

Thanks everyone. I will do.
We are still very worried about baby.
I just don't picture bringing home a healthy baby in March after all this stress. I have terrible images of my twenty week scan showing up extreme abnormalities in bAby.

Re the sharp pain I have been told I have a corpus cyst on right ovary so I assumed that was causing my pain their when I sneeze, I thought I was the only one really surprised that others get it as well.

BeautifulLiar · 07/09/2015 06:36

I get the sharp pain when I sneeze too!

Crispy I'm hopefully having my scan this week, although I rang the hospital yesterday to ask when and I wasn't even on the list apparently! She seemed shocked that I'm nearly 14 weeks and suggested i ring again today.

I know I need to but I really don't want to, it'll be the fourth time in 5 days I've phoned and each time I get the same answer! Anyone got any words of wisdom??

docmcstuffins1 · 07/09/2015 07:10

What a hassle Beautiful, I'd ring you MW, she should be chasing this up, not you!

BeautifulLiar · 07/09/2015 08:19

I did think that doc, but then remembered what she said last Wednesday... "they should ring you within a week". So she'll just repeat that I guess. Still, I'm definitely 14 weeks before Friday, just want this to be sorted!

QforCucumber · 07/09/2015 08:59

How awful beautiful I suppose to you it's your priority but to them we are all just 1 of many.
Woken up with the most painful backache today, feels like I've pulled something in my lower back.
Been at work a hour - only another 5 to get though, can't take my mind off the scan, guessing not much will get done today.

Rosieblossom123 · 07/09/2015 10:36

Beautiful how annoying :( I'd keep ringing them and pestering them seriously that's the only way they operate.

Anyone peeing at lot recently? I had it between week 4 and 7 and then it calmed down but now its come back again especially in the night and it does really break my sleep :(

ffaux Same here my belly is getting big, not where my uterus is tho so annoying I just a big bump already!!! haha

marmitemofo · 07/09/2015 11:39

morning all! beautiful that sounds like a real pain in the arse. hope you get your appointment soon.

had a bit of an embarassing incident in the pharmacy today. tried to buy canestan pessary as thrush has come back, and she took one look at me and asked if I was pregnant (so looks like I'll have to tell my boss this week then!). When I said yes, she said she couldn't sell it to me and I had to go to the doctors. I told her the dr had previously prescribed me the exact same thing a few weeks ago, so she went off to confer with another pharmacist, then came back and said no, in case anything went wrong, they'd rather I went to the dr and got a prescription. I said I couldn't go to the doctors for a few days, after which point she said if I was desperate she could sell it to me. I looked her right in the face, said I'm desperate, trying to convey that my foof is on fire at the moment, and she seemed to get it and shouted over to her colleague 'the lady is desperate' at which point he gave the go ahead Blush. however now I'm getting paranoid that I shouldn't use it... the doctor would just prescribe me it anyway right? it's totally safe to use the pessary?

marmite oh dear, it's moments like those when you wish you were really quick witted and had a fantastic come bac - not that I can even think of one now.
20 mins at work to go, 50 mins until the scan! Arghhhhhhhhh

Rosieblossom123 · 07/09/2015 14:03

Q good luck, keep us updated Flowers
