started a new thread as the old one was getting full up. Thought I would post the link to stats here too so people can update if they want!

I've just caught up on about 6 pages worth of posts!

Glad to hear most of you are doing O.K and most of you with sickness it's dying down a bit!

I'm 18.1 today, can't believe it. And think I'm feeling the baby move too! A real fluttering on my right side but can't tell. I just ate some (2 barsBlush) of chocolate to see if movements increased when I ate it and they did! Woo! Want to feel kicks now though so DP can join the fun.

I'm convinced I'm having a girl but not going to find out although so many people say it's obvious if it's a boy or girl at the scan so will see how I get on. 2 weeks today yay Grin

Beautiful, I think you're having a boy and rosie I think you're having a girl. Just my theories though haha Smile

Me624 · 22/09/2015 18:25

Glad the scan went well Beautiful and can't wait to find out once you've told your DH! You must be our first gender reveal? I've got my 20 week scan on the 16th of October (same as Rosie!) and I can't wait to find out. I've got my 16 week appointment tomorrow at 16+5, hoping that I'll get to hear the heartbeat and maybe that will give me a clue?! I don't really mind but think DH would like a girl, I'd probably prefer a boy because I'm not a girly girl at all and slightly dread the thought of having a princessy pink girl - I won't know what to do with her! If it is one though then hopefully she'll be a tomboy like me!

Sorry to all the ladies who are still being sick Sad

I bit the bullet today and did some online maternity clothes shopping! Recommend the ASOS outlet - I have picked up some total bargains, 9 dresses and 2 tops for £160! I'll probably end up sending some back but that should do me at work for a while. Still need to look for some jeans but I still just about fit into mine at the moment.

Gingerlady123 · 22/09/2015 18:39

I have a preference for a girl but only because I don't have any boys names I would like to use but plenty of girls. I'd be happy with either though. I feel so far behind all you ladies . Scan not until 30th.
I don't like any names that end in "ie" sound eg sonny, Ellie etc.
my fav girls names is hazel, for boys Nathan is the only name I remotely like but even that is not the "one"

MyNameIsSuz · 22/09/2015 18:56

me, I just got some lovely jeans from gap, with a discount code. Definitely recommend them!

Me624 · 22/09/2015 19:05

Thanks for the tip suz I'll look at Gap.

Ginger I know what you mean, a girl would be easier for us too in terms of names as we can't agree on any boys names!

Paperblank · 22/09/2015 19:08

We've go aaaages to go until our scan. [impatient smiley] and midwife appt isn't until next Wednesday.

suz I never thought of gap for maternity stuff I will have to have a look.

MyNameIsSuz · 22/09/2015 19:12

It's a bit expensive but great quality and there are always discount codes. One thing I learnt the hard way - go a size down as they come up big!

I'm off to check out asos outlet...

BeautifulLiar · 22/09/2015 19:21

I've got the name and middle name all sorted for this one, which is weird as our last baby was nameless for about 3 days! I don't know any other babies/children with this name - wondering if there will be more popping up locally once we've dared to use it!

16 week appointment is a week today, I'll be 16+6.

I'm meeting DH for his lunch break tomorrow and will tell him then :) will be so weird me telling him rather than a sonographer... can't wait to see his face!

The sono printed out a pic of in between the baby's legs and typed out the sex on it. I'm going to put that inside a "Congratulations" card and hand it to DH.

Hope everyone's well x

MyNameIsSuz · 22/09/2015 20:07

Ooh Beautiful I so want to know what the name is! I've kind of had what you're wondering about - when my boy was born 3 years ago I didn't know any with the name, since then two people I know have had baby boys and called them Frank or Frankie! I am obviously a trend setter Smile. Dead jealous of you having your name sorted, I think if this is another boy he will be nameless for a week!

BeautifulLiar · 22/09/2015 20:11

Suz don't forget I'm in rural Lincolnshire - in a village right next to a very working class town - (sorry DH, I know you were born and bred here!) but I can almost guarantee this name won't be very uncommon to most of you guys on here. I will tell you tomorrow of course!

I suggested Frankie to DH a while back! I really like it. He was a bit Confused damn him! Haha.

julesldn · 22/09/2015 20:26

Me - I did the same, got tons on Asos outlet! I can recommend their jeans as well - theyre really cheap and comfy and look good too. They sell 2 packs of new look leggings as well for about £18 and they're great too. Got 2 jeans 3 leggings and 7 tops (I think!) for under £100. Bargain!

JustTheOneThanks · 22/09/2015 20:35

Due date buddies Rosie ? I like it haha. My scan isn't till the 20th October and I am definitely finding out the sex. I am too impatient to wait. I don't have a preference but I'm 99% sure that it is a boy for some reason!
Have fun telling your DH tomorrow Beautiful it'll be so great for him to hear it from you as opposed to someone who is practically a stranger.

QforCucumber · 22/09/2015 20:39

Oh bet you can't wait to see your DH's face tomorrow beautiful
My 16 week appt is next Wednesday and scan is on the 21st October - can't wait even though we aren't finding out the sex.
Maternity shopping on asos now to make me feel better.

dobbythedoggy · 22/09/2015 20:51

17 weeks tomorrow here. Still sick, no where near as badly as at the start, but seem to have a couple of all day sick days a week and just first thing the rest of the time. Had a lovely dinner planned for tonight but couldn't even look at the bits for it in the fridge! Need to restock tomorrow as I struggled to find anything to feed poor dd.

Feeling quite a bit of movement sproadically which is lovely as I didn't feel it until quite late on with dd.

IndomitabIe · 22/09/2015 22:59

Exciting stuff, Beautiful! Glad to see you seem more upbeat about it now too.

My Vertbaudet trousers arrived today. They're a bit big, but wearable and so amazingly comfortable. And even better, they're almost exactly the same as my favourite work trousers!
However, they charged me an extra £1 for delivery, and I'd picked next day delivery as it all seemed to be the same price. Ordered it Saturday night: it said delivery would be the exit working day, but they turned up today instead of yesterday. So they've charged more for something they couldn't provide. How rude. Good job the trousers were cheap! I've already complained about the extra charge, but of course they haven't responded.

Missikat · 22/09/2015 23:46

Congrats on your scan beautiful, can't wait to find out your news!!! I'm thinking it's a girl. We are also 20 week scan buddies, with Q too. Can't wait, although not finding out the sex. I hope your DH is happy with the news and you get some answers about why he's not been contactable.

I've got my 16 week app tomorrow, really hoping the midwife will listen in to the heartbeat as with DS they didn't at the 16 wk one, they said it was policy not to do it until later so as not to worry or have to refer to hospital if they couldn't find it. On Sunday I also felt baby move for the first time which was amazing! With DS it was not until 18 weeks and even then there were a few weeks of not being sure if it was baby or not. This time I was certain that's what it was and have definitely felt it a few times since (I'm 16+2 I think) hopefully will start feeling it a lot more now.

A few pages back marmite you were talking about home births. I planned one with DS, had a pool set up in my not very big dining room. Unfortunately had to be transferred in after 22 hours but I would definitely recommend it if you're thinking about it. (Ina May Gaskins Guide to Childbirth was a great read and really encouraged me to give it a go). I also have a good friend who had both her children in a pool at home, 12 hrs first birth and only two stitches and 4 hours with no stitches
for no 2. I'm gutted this time round I'll be consultant led due to previous section and strapped up to the monitor. Indomitable, you were talking about still having some movement during yours. I was definitely able to be on all fours with monitor on but also had issue of it slipping all the time but by that point (8-9 cms), I really didn't care like you said! The consultant I met a couple of weeks ago did day they have wireless monitors at my hospital so if they're free there is the chance I could possibly go in the pool....really really hope so!

Hope those of you who are still feeling sick start recovering soon. The heartburn has started here already, yuk!

julesldn · 23/09/2015 01:04

Indomitable - nothing better than comfy trousers (finally!) my pre-pregnancy trousers are officially at the back of the wardrobe now yay!

Missikat (and others who have mentioned it) - I think I want a home birth too so will definitely read the book you recommended. A shame you'll be consultant led missi but I'm sure it's for the best if that's what's recommended. Hope you don't mind me asking, was it awful having to go into hospital after trying at home or not so bad? I think that's what DP is most worried about, something going wrong and having to go in (even though we're in London so never further than a 10min drive from a hospital). Hmm I can't decide..!

sherazade · 23/09/2015 08:14

Hi everyone !! Have missed a lot here... I blame work .... Aggggh
Glad you're all well and it seems like there's so much going on .. What have I missed am all confused now as not read the full thread but beautiful last thing I read you weren't finding out gender as it meant a preference and now Uve found out through a private scan and are doing a big reveal today Smile exciting !!!! I bet it's a girl !! Can't wait to find out here either .
Would like a boy for variety as have two dds already but I have a strong feeling it's a girl !
Feeling lots of movement for the past week which is lovely and makes up for the fact am still nauseous .. The only odd thing is that the movement is always in my right side !! No complaining though ..
Had my consultant appointment and 'smiled and nodded ' throughout the whole thing as the doctor talks about getting me induced , waters broken, hooked up to monitor and epidural .. Umm no thanks ! My sister who is a midwife is going to be in charge of my delivery . She worked at the hospital I'm delivering at for 8 years before moving abroad last year to live the glam expat life and works as a midwife in her new home town .. But she'll be booking time off and flying back for when I'm due so am very lucky as I trust her 100 %.
Hope everyone else is ok

Missikat · 23/09/2015 08:22

Jules, don't mind you asking at all! TBH I was pretty philosophical about it both before and during labour. I knew that the stats say something like 50% of first time mums who plan a home birth end up being transferred so I knew there was a fairly high chance it could happen. I'm really pleased I did the majority of my labour at home on my own (well DH was there obviously!) with only the tens and paracetamol. I didn't even get to get in my pool as had to wait a really long time in the night due to the only team of midwives in that night being at another birth, (they said not to get in until in established labour 4cm + and I'd not had anyone with me to check) and when they finally came I
was already 8cm. They then took observations and for three sets in a row my pulse and BP were high as was baby's HB. It was because of this I was transferred. Ended up going in ambulance but as I was in transition didn't really give a shit! In the end (after 3 hours ish on the monitor in hospital) turns out he was breech and he was showing signs of distress so they knocked me out and gave me a c-section. He also had to go to neo-natal for 5 hours after birth so was very weird coming round from GA and not having a baby there. But, he was fine in end so all was ok. Good job I was transferred really as wouldn't have liked to attempt breech birth at home! Still don't regret decision to try and think it's the reason I made it so far on my own as got to go walking round the park in labour, in my own bath etc. much more comfortable than in hospital and very active. I did find up with about the most opposite birth you could imagine to the one I'd planned, but oh well! If I'd not had a section I would definitely be trying for a another home birth this time.

Sorry for epic post!!!

marmitemofo · 23/09/2015 08:50

thanks for the book rec missikat and sharing your home birth experience! I deffo want to have one, and I think DP is getting on board slowly too! We live so close to the hospital that being transferred there would be fine.

Can't believe it's only Wednesday, I really cba with this week at work. the weekend seems so far away...

Ha Sherazade I just couldn't wait!

So I've been awake since 4am ridiculously excited about the gender of the baby. I'm getting all emotional thinking about it... don't know what was up with me yesterday!

DD2 is the apple of DH's eye so I've kept her off nursery and brought her with me to surprise him. She doesn't know either. Yay :)

Me624 · 23/09/2015 10:17

Got my 16 week appointment in half an hour. I'm excited that I might get to hear the heartbeat! I haven't felt any movement at all yet, not even a hint of a flutter, so I'd like some more validation that it's ok in there - the 12 week scan seems like a long time ago!

JoannaZZ · 23/09/2015 10:35

Me624 I also wouldn't know what to do with a pink princessy girl! If it is a girl I'm hoping for a tomboy but otherwise I would just have to learn. Maybe I would also get into princesses and making jewellery haha...

Good luck at the 16 week appointment, I have mine on Tuesday.

JoannaZZ · 23/09/2015 10:37

Have any of you been to the dentist while pregnant? I'm considering going for a check-up, haven't been in over 2 years and I know the teeth can get worse during pregnancy so now I'm feeling guilty about not going for so long. Is it recommended to go during pregnancy?

marmitemofo · 23/09/2015 11:06

yes joanna it is recommended to go; also if you have your maternity nhs exemption card then it's free. I'd recommend you go anyway tbh, I left it two years between going to the dentists a few years ago and ended up having to have three fillings! I'd never had fillings in my life until then, so was a bit of a shock.

me good luck with your appt - I was also getting a bit nervous this week about how long ago the 12 week scan seems and that I haven't really felt any movement yet (thought I did but now not so sure). However my expanding waistline is telling me something is going on there Hmm

also regarding girly girls: I am also the same, have always been a tomboy (have 4 brothers! 2 of those step brothers but I grew up with them so I think of them as 'proper' brothers if that makes sense), so not sure how I'd feel about having a girly DD. However, I just encourage my DD to play with all types of toys and be interested in both stereotypically boys/girls things and am hoping for the best! Honestly though if she turned out to be princess-y I'm not sure it'd bother me as much as I thought. But maybe thats because not so secretly I'm convinced she won't be, hahaha.
