started a new thread as the old one was getting full up. Thought I would post the link to stats here too so people can update if they want!

Was it Countdown to Life or something? It was ace!

Rosieblossom123 · 17/09/2015 19:20

Yeah it's countdown to life, it was amazing!!

Herewegoagain31 · 17/09/2015 19:24

Hello everyone! I've not been on mumsnet for a long time, password issues etc and just never reset. Hope everyone is well! First just a reminder that the Facebook group is still going with a few that came over from here earlier on - I know a lot wanted to wait till after 12 week scan before joining but if anyone wants to join now send me a PM! Just getting to the time we can start to share gender scan and 20 week scan pics so it's lovely and you can dip in and out of both Facebook and here of course! I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and 2 weeks till my 20 week scan (actually at 19 weeks!) We are definitely finding out - although the sonographer told me at 12 weeks he was pretty sure it is a boy so I think I know already! Beautiful I know what you're getting at with what you say about finding out or not - I have that with a lot of my friends, they count it as a class thing rather than an educated thing, that it's a bit more of a 'common' person's thing to do to find out the sex. I know, it's ridiculous!! But that's snobbery for you. So they think they are being classy and superior by not finding out. I think if you want to find out or not, do it for you not because of what anyone else thinks. Or - if it does matter - then find out for yourselves but don't tell anyone you know. I have a couple of friends that did that. I just don't have the patience to wait till the end to know! And I feel I bond better knowing what 'it' is. Plus I like to plan! But it is each to their own and you should do what you and DP want

Herewegoagain31 · 17/09/2015 20:30

I should also have said to add to Facebook all you need to do is PM me your email address associated with your FB account and I can add that way. The group is secret and closed so nobody can see that you have joined or when you post anything and you can't search for it in Facebook either!

marmitemofo · 18/09/2015 09:16

Me and DP both have PhDs and we're finding out the sex this time again! I think the whole 'less educated people' thing is just snobbery tbh. I know a couple of people who are v anti finding out the sex and have asked me and DP quite aggressively why we are, I tell them its a personal decision and we like to find out! Honestly beautiful if you want to find out, go for it! Don't be made to feel bad about it Smile

Marmite both myself and DH have STEM masters degrees and we'll be finding out the sex. I really don't think the level of education comes into it at all.

Poppins27 · 18/09/2015 09:38

My baby, my choice whether to find out or not!!! Personally I don't think I will, only to stop myself but silly amounts of clothes etc so will save me a fortune!! Haha

It would make things so much easier to plan/organise if we knew the sex...but I'm not a very organised person in general so doesn't bother me. Can see how this would be an advantage massively. My Sil paid to find out before her 20 week scan and is itching for us to as well....we shall see, still time for me to change my mind again!!

Battleshiphips2 · 18/09/2015 09:46

Beautiful my baby was very naughty the other day! They had to check the umbilical cord but it was snuggled against the wall of my uterus and wouldn't move. The sonographer made me run up and down 3 flights of stairs, didn't work. Lie on my side, didn't work. Have a wee, didn't work. Tilt me up on the bed so my legs were in the air, didn't work. Finally she said go and have a coffee in the cafe that should make the little tinker move. It did! Now I shall have a coffee chocolate or cake before each scan because it wakes them up. Although I was a bit Shock to find out that what I took in affected the baby that much!

BeautifulLiar · 18/09/2015 10:18

Thank you everyone - I feel MUCH better now. I'm a very organised person and I want to bond with the baby during this sickness so i will be booking a gender scan for Tuesday :) SO nervous for some reason. I won't be telling anyone the sex either - apart from you guys of course! And yes I will waste a lot of money on clothes once I know, oops!

Battleships glad I have a naughty baby twin :) that was one dedicated sonographer!! I did actually eat a huge bar of Yorkie raisin and biscuit right before my last scan but baby was still naughty - although did bounce once! I've never drunk coffe before but I could force down a cappuccino...

Sorry for TMI but last night DH was back and made a roast lamb dinner. Half way through it I was squatting in the living room doorway throwing up into my hands Blush oh and when I'd finished my trousers were soaked?! Assumed I'd wet myself but it didn't smell. Weird. Pregnancy is so fucking glam!

Rosieblossom123 · 18/09/2015 11:00

Beautiful wow Tuesday, good luck not long now :) I wish I could do the same I'm so impatient and DP said we might as well wait for our 20 weeks scan but it's not until the 16th Oct I'm driving myself nuts!!! keep us updated! :)

blondiejess1982 · 18/09/2015 11:47

Hey everyone Smile I have had my first scan and it was great! It took ages because of a retroverted uterus that I have and I also had to empty bladder, walk around, refill bladder so that the baby could be in the right position! I saw a really strong heartbeat and seeing it wriggling and stretching was just amazing (first timer here if you can't already tell) they didn't say anything about the nuchal measurement fold being a concern but I have had the blood tests. She said everything looked good. Its so amazing what you can see !

BeautifulLiar · 18/09/2015 11:57

Congrats Blondie - it's amazing isn't it? Glad it went well for you :) do you have a due date then?

And yes Rosie - half 11 on Tuesday! Will def keep you posted. You should persuade your DP Grin

blondiejess1982 · 18/09/2015 12:06

Thank you Beautifuliar my due date is 29th March, so exactly as predicted. I am just literally sitting at home (day off work today) trying to take in how amazing the scan was. And that there is actually a baby in there! I hope everyone else is okay today? It's lovely being off work watching daytime TV Smile

BeautifulLiar · 18/09/2015 12:25

Congrats again :) it's nice to have the day to reflect on it all. We're just having a carvery (me and a 2 and 4 year old!).

Rosieblossom123 · 18/09/2015 12:41

blondie that's great news, I did exactly the same thing took a day off work, and kept staring at my scan pictures for days, first timer here too :) it's amazing knowing that they're a little wriggler in there :)

Beautiful I had enough of persuading him seriously, he didn't want me to have an early scan when I had side pains at 9 weeks I had to go to the gp and beg them to refer me to the EPU and now he said why do you want to spend money we will find out in 4 weeks and if not we could go for a private scan but we're away the weekend after the scan so If they don't tell me on my 20 week scan I will go bonkers!!! haha

QforCucumber · 18/09/2015 13:16

in a way I am glad we have decided not to find out as like you rosie I'd be so annoyed if i had got all excited to know and then at the scan they couldn't say. The would really peeve me off.

feeling massive today, just look like i've eaten all the cake though, or a huge sunday dinner - not really bumpy as such.

Congratulations blondie I loved that feeling too, had to send dp the pictures of the scans again today as his phone has deleted all his pics - was lovely to see them next to each other and see the difference from 9 weeks to 13 weeks.

marmitemofo · 18/09/2015 13:40

congrats blondie Grin

I have to admit I still don't think it's sunk in that I'm actually pregnant. It's weird but I think because I'm so busy with work and DD, I haven't had time to sit and obsess about it in the same way I did when I was pregnant with DD!

15+3 now and my sickness has pretty much gone, thankfully. I still feel a bit ill after eating large meals so going to try to eat little and often, but generally feeling more normal. I am however feeling absolutely knackered. not sure if pregnancy related or the fact DD has been teething and waking up early Hmm. I'm slightly worried though as I'm a vegetarian and my iron levels often sit around the anaemic threshold - last pregnancy I got anaemia and had to take iron tablets, but it wasn't until later on. I feel weary and lacking in energy enough that I'm worried about it. I've been a vegetarian for 6 years now, but I have to admit to recently being tempted to going back to eating meat (infrequently), but I can't bring myself to do it! I have my 16 week midwife appt next Friday and might ask her about it then. I do know vegetarians who have randomly decided to eat meat during pregnancy due to cravings, who have gone back to being vegetarian afterwards, so that's always an option. Hopefully it's not anaemia anyway and is just the leftover of first trimester exhaustion!

Me624 · 18/09/2015 13:47

marmite I'm a veggie too and when we were having trouble ttc I had blood tests which showed I was so ridiculously anaemic I should have been practically dead. I have been veggie for 15 years! It took 4 months on iron tablets to get me to hovering around normal levels (11ish) after which I finally got my bfp, but the midwife said they will need to keep a very close eye on my iron levels and I will probably have to go back on the tablets after my 16 week appt depending on my count. Which is a shame as they play havoc with the digestive system!

BeautifulLiar · 18/09/2015 14:02

Oh god Rosie I got the most annoying answer at my last 20 week scan:

"I haven't seen anything that makes me think it's a boy, but the legs are quite close together, so don't buy anything pink!"

Id rather she'd just said "sorry I've got no idea." I'd always had a feeling she was a girl anyway so did buy some pink babygros and she was!

I asked the scan clinic people about what happens if the baby is awkward. He said they've got a birth ball to bounce on (!) or they send you for a drink etc, but they nearly always get it. Fingers crossed!

Rosieblossom123 · 18/09/2015 14:03

Q You're right I'm scared they say sorry we can't tell, but worse case we'll do a private one but it won't be until two weeks after so fingers crossed they tell us on the 16th!
Also same here, I've got an app on my phone that edits pics and merges them together so my screen saver is my 9 week scan and 13 week scan next to each other, I love it, the difference is amazing couldn't believe how much baby has grown. Can't wait to see how big baby will be in 4 weeks!! Grin

Rosieblossom123 · 18/09/2015 14:10

Beautiful seriously?? I would've been sooo peed off, exactly would've been easier on everyone just to say I don't know! Simple! To be honest I feel like it's a girl, I posted a picture of the nub on 'What to expect' and everyone that commented on it said it's a girl about 26 people but I just don't know, I'll have to wait I guess :(

If they ask me to dance I will do it haha anything to find out!

BeautifulLiar · 18/09/2015 14:24

Yep seriously!! I was really upset, then pulled myself together as I was very grateful we had a healthy baby and we kept it a surprise. But I knew she was a girl! I think you're having a girl too Rosie (not that I'm any good at guessing, ha!). I'm so excited for Tuesday... paid a deposit so no backing out now!!

I'm going to the scan alone as DH will be at work and kids will be at school/nursery. I'm going to meet DH for lunch the day after so has anyone got any cool ways I can reveal the baby's sex to him?!

Rosieblossom123 · 18/09/2015 14:44

Beautiful I hope so I really don't mind but it'll be the first girl in my Dp's family and I have a stepson so dp is convinced that he's only going to be having boys haha

The best way to reveal it is in a cake that's what we're planning to do to dp's family, it'll be a bit tricky to get a colored sponge haha unless you make it :)

BeautifulLiar · 18/09/2015 14:51

Haha I said that to DH when we had our first girl! "I bet you can only make girls..." and so far I've been right!

I love the cake idea... can't really do that in the middle of the high street/a restaurant though! :(

All I can think of is writing it in an envelope and letting him open it... seems boring!

Rosieblossom123 · 18/09/2015 15:06

Beautiful I hope he's not right haha I can't have a house full of boys! It will drive me nuts!

Oh yeah that would be weird if you bring your own cake to a restaurant, maybe not! haha Envelope is a good idea I think it's quiet exciting to know that your future baby's sex is in that envelope! it's cute you should definitely do that!
