started a new thread as the old one was getting full up. Thought I would post the link to stats here too so people can update if they want!

Great news about your scan Indomitable. It won't be long now until the 20 week ones start!

I've had to trek up to London today for work. Just waiting for a train home and praying I get a seat. I'm not massive yet so don't really need a seat but I really don't fancy standing for the whole 1 hr journey home!

IndomitabIe · 15/09/2015 17:58

Thanks all! I'm so relieved!

Just told DS (gave him the pics to look at and work out) - he's very concerned that I don't bump the baby too much or burn it drinking hot tea! It's very cute!

Hope you managed to get a seat, Me. I used to commute to London about 10 years ago (feel old) and used to sit in the luggage rack most times. Which is one thing for a student but probably not the done thing for a pregnant grown up!

Sorry to hear about the weird dreams. I haven't had anything too odd yet. Last time I dreamt about losing the cat in weird buildings.

No proper cravings yet, but I can't eat enough potato (all forms)! I also have a 'see-food' problem, in that I'll see some food (on TV, or fb, or someone will mention something) and I'll have to eat THAT. Nothing else will do! DH is a bit of a foody and doesn't mind a bit!

BeautifulLiar · 15/09/2015 18:46

Aww Indomitable that's so cute! Bless him. Love the way kids' minds work.

Me - hope you got a seat. Rural Lincolnshire seems like a world away... although I was born in Peckham!

I moved my living room round today. Hello nesting :)

Me624 · 15/09/2015 20:24

I did get a seat, phew! I just missed a train but that's actually better because then I was on the platform at the front of the 'queue' for when the next one came. Glad I don't have to do the commute all the time though, there's a thread in pregnancy about getting a seat on the tube and how everyone just ignores the baby on board badges, I'd hate to have to ask someone to move for me but everyone on there is saying it's the only way to sit down!

I only have to go to London about once a month ... I think when I'm big I'll get taxis and claim it back on expenses on health grounds!

julesldn · 15/09/2015 21:47

Indomitable - thank god for that - I think I'll just put my list on here soon and then all of you experienced mums can cross bits off for me haha! Good news about the scan too :)

Me - I have a baby on board badge! And yes, it's quite crap but mainly because people don't look up when they're on the tube! However Id still order one and keep it in your bag (it's free) because it does work when people see it. Also regardless of bump size you need it more than most others. I don't even have a bump but still get tired!

ThePug · 15/09/2015 22:00

It's not just when you have a massive bump that standing up for long periods is a problem; even now we have so much more blood going around our system/to our uterus area so it is more likely that you will feel lightheaded after standing up for long, especially if it is hot. I'm so glad I don't have to get the train or go into London very often!

No weird dreams here yet; I'll probably have a horrible nightmare tonight now I've said that though!

I've made a spreadsheet with a list of things to buy on, with columns for the brands/models I like and best price found so far. I asked DH if he would 'take ownership' of something on there so he has chosen the baby monitor as its the only remotely techie thing that he has any interest in! I can't wait to go pram shopping to test drive some but he has already complained about this and can't see the point Hmm

Trinpy · 15/09/2015 22:24

Ooh indomitable there was someone from the local university doing a study on first time mums when I went for my scan! We're not at the same hospital are we?

IndomitabIe · 15/09/2015 22:58

Where are you Trinpy? SW?

Missikat · 15/09/2015 23:21

Wow, it's been busy again on here!

Hope you're all well. Congrats Indom on your scan, bet you feel relieved!

With regard to prams/buggies we got a baby jogger city mini GT for DS. The criteria was easy fold (this does in one motion by lifting a handle in middle of seat, amazingly easy even with baby in one arm), good for off-road as we like walking in the countryside (this is why we went for GT model rather than standard as it has 'forever air' off road tyres), able to use from birth and folds small, as at the time we had a little Fiesta. It is fab, really easy to manoeuvre with one hand, brilliant off road and great in the sun or rain as it has a massive hood. dobby, the standard baby jogger city mini may be a good option for your pushchair maybe? Downsides are small basket and the fact you can't have baby facing you but it's the only buggy we've had for DS since birth and it's still fab for him age 2 1/4. I think we won't buy another but aim to baby wear No 2 as much as possible and use it for the rest of the time when DS is walking.

Regarding best baby buys for you FTMs, one amazing thing we got recommended by my sister in law was a big sponge with a baby shaped indent in it to use in the big bath. We never bought a baby bath or those horrible hard plasticky seats that look really uncomfortable and just used this. It was fab, and easy to take places with us.

Slings ....we had the Boba wrap sling which I loved carrying DS in (I get that the wrapping could be a bit of a headache for some though!). I found it much more comfortable than the more structured ones (really wanted an Ergo but when I tried one at a sling meet it really wasn't comfortable for me across the shoulders which I was gutted about). Thinking about maybe trying to get a half wrap half buckle type one this time round, not sure if anyone has any recommendations of this sort? Other ones I've heard recommended are the Connecta which a friend had and rated highly and my sister has the caboo but her son has refused to settle in anything facing in. I think with No 2 that baby wearing around the house is going to come into it's own, particularly when dealing with cluster feeding in the evening, when DH is at work and DS needs putting to bed......argh....how do people manage more than one child, the thought of logistics is already frying my brain!

Welcome back battleship, hope you start feeling better soon. Great news Q on your results.

poppins, that must have been really scary. Glad EPU isn't worried for you and that your bleeding has stopped.

I've also been having very weird and vivid dreams the last few nights. Two nights in a row it was about feeling and seeing baby move which was fab but the last one I could see baby's feet appearing through my skin under my rib cage, very odd!!

The last week I've definitely started to look pregnant so am enjoying just letting it all hang out rather than trying to suck it in. 15 weeks yesterday, woop, definitely showing much earlier this time round.

maybebabybee · 16/09/2015 08:40

Goodness it's busy! Sorry I've been a bit radio silence lately, going on holiday for 2 weeks on Saturday and have loads to do at work before then, feeling really stressed Confused

All the baby buying will have to wait til I'm back. To be honest I'm quite tempted to leave the majority of my buying til after the 20 week scan - I'm superstitious (I know it's daft).

It was my mum's birthday at the weekend and saw lots of family friends etc, most of whom said congratulations but still had loads of comments on 'what I was going to do with my cats'. I started a thread about this the other week but I'm whinging about it again on here because it's driving me demented!

QforCucumber · 16/09/2015 09:01

oh maybe not one person has asked about our cats, we have 2 and no one has even commented on them other than laughing about them hiding (as this is what they do when niece and nephew come around)

Missikat · 16/09/2015 09:02

maybe, what about your cats? As in they think you should get rid as you're having a baby? We have two cats, never been any issue with DS at all. When he was small, and probably even more so now they don't want to be anywhere near him! We were planning to stop them sleeping in our bedroom but realised quickly there was no way they would be jumping in the Moses basket with him. I guess all animals are different but there's never been any issues here. (Apart from we see less of them when DS is about!)

vroc81 · 16/09/2015 09:05

Ah maybe I'm getting that with my horse because no one before me has managed animals and babies at the same time?!!

One of my friends asked when I was selling her so I asked why she hadn't put her daughter on eBay in preparation for the next ones arrival... It hasn't been mentioned since...

Rosieblossom123 · 16/09/2015 09:10

maybe I've got the same issue, I have to cats but I think I will keep them I love them way too much to let them go :(

Rosieblossom123 · 16/09/2015 09:11

I meant two cats!

maybebabybee · 16/09/2015 09:35

I would never get rid of my cats unless the baby was severely allergic or something (even then I would probably really struggle TBH). I have grown up around animals and can't even fathom the idea of my children not having pets.

But yes, the implication is that one shouldn't have pets around babies. My SIL won't even bring her baby over to my PIL because they have a dog, who is a soppy thing anyway.

Rosieblossom123 · 16/09/2015 09:47

maybe I agree, if they were harming my baby in any way then yeah but I really doubt it they'll probably be hiding all the time anyways.

Missi I need to do the same my cats always sleep with us in the bedroom maybe I should stop that soon, feel really bad though because they love sleeping with us :( it's going to be hard!

QforCucumber · 16/09/2015 10:05

ours are going to be quite easy I think, they sleep closed downstairs anyway as otherwise they have a tendency to start playing on the bed at 3am and we just couldn't deal with it - they have beds and scratching posts etc downstairs.
When we leave for work on a morning they are allowed free roam of the house and then go outside from about 4:30pm until about 7pm, or when they jump at the window to allow them back in haha.
They love us being off as they can go out through the day then so think I'll keep the same but open the door through summer as I'll be on maternity leave.
We have started closing the door of the room which will be the babies room, but when it's done are going to allow them in to explore before the baby comes just so they can see what's been going on.

they are 7 and 3 and aren't fans of loud, small people.

magpiedreams · 16/09/2015 10:37

Oooh, yes it's crazy-dreams galore here, some of which are very x-rated and not suitable for sharing here Blush. I normally love having mad dreams, but last night I did a whole day of work, literally - full colour detail, stress, decision-making JUST like a real day and woke up completely exhausted. Not so into that kind of dream. Wondering who to invoice for that work - the sandman?

I have not even got motivated to look at any baby 'stuff' yet, normally, when I'm not pregnant I love nothing more than perusing the prams on the JL website, but since I've been pregnant can't be bothered to look. We will probably reuse most of the stuff we already have - Oyster pram which has been great but is looking a bit worse for wear. DH said he assumed we'd get a new travel system since that one will be 3rd hand but I said I'd rather save the money and not bother. He was very Confused owing to my usual pram-obsession and keeps asking if I'm feeling ok now! Maybe I'll feel more enthused after my next scan.

We don't have any pets, but I've heard people say it's a good idea to have the baby stuff - cot, seat etc around for a while before baby arrives to let the cat/dog get used to it / learn its not for them. No idea how true/useful this is though.

Battleshiphips2 · 16/09/2015 14:24

Glad I'm not the only one having weird naughty dreams! I'm off for a scan in 30 mins. Is there any chance they can tell gender at 15 weeks? I'm hoping I don't throw up when my tummy is being pressed with the scan. Chicken soup probably isn't as appetising coming out as it is going in! Also I've noticed a few mention cats but does anyone have a dog. I'm a bit nervous over him as my ds was 6 when we got him so he's not really been around babies.

BeautifulLiar · 16/09/2015 14:32

Good luck Battle. I don't think you'll find be sick at they're pressing on uterus and stomach is quite a bit higher! We found out what DD1 was at about 15+4, but that was a private gender scan. I don't think the nhs will tell you.

I'm not going to buy anything until after the 20 week scan. Never waited that long before, but 1) I still have morning sickness so it's not overly exciting yet (sorry Baby!) and 2) once I start I won't be able to stop...

I had a look round Mothercare and Mapas and Papas today though, which got me all emotional Confused

dobbythedoggy · 16/09/2015 14:33

Thanks miss I'll have a look into the baby city mini and see if I can play with my friend's. We've got the tank for everyday use but will need something sutable to take on the bus when we go to visit dh's family and something that will fit in my mum and dad's car boot. Not planing to spend more than £60 so will keep an eye out for secondhand.

maybe my friends who's dd is a bit younger than mine has never had any problems with their cat. It spent a lot of time guarding her before she became moblie and then became very good at staying out of reach. They did have to rehome their dogs with family after one of them suddenly tried to scratch her and they weren't prepared to take that risk. Dogs went to live with his mum so they still see them regually (and pay for their keep).

I went through a nasty period of having very raunchy dreams about Mr Tumble, had to stop dd watching anything justin related. Have had other x-rated dreams but they weren't any where near as disturbing. Not sleeping so well at the moment so not been dreaming. Last night bearly slept as had such bad heartburn, had to go back to bed for a few hours when dh got in from work.

BeautifulLiar · 16/09/2015 14:33

15+3*

Battleshiphips2 · 16/09/2015 14:50

dobby I had a Chicco pushchair for my ds that you can use from birth. It was fab. So easy to use and great for bus journeys. I loved it so much that I've just bought the travel system version. Same kind of pushchair but you can click the car seat onto it. I had a big beast for my ds first of all but it was the size of a small car! The Chicco one was so much better.

Trinpy · 16/09/2015 14:55

Yes, in the sw indomitable. It must've been for the same uni. I had my scan at the Rd&e.

I've bought one set of babygro babygros to celebrate a successful 12 week scan but that's it so far. There's not much I need because we've still got all the masses of baby equipment from ds up in the attic. I do need to sort through all the clothes and replace anything that's looking a bit tired, but I'll wait for the 20 week scan first so I know baby is fine and also which sex I'm buying for!

I had a Hana wrap sling last time (similar to Boba, Etc) which I loved but ds hated it because he didn't like having the strip of fabric supporting his head. By the time he got decent head control it was too hot to babywear. I did use it a lot during the autumn and early winter when he was 6-9 months but he's tall for his age and I'm quite short so from 9 months I stopped using it because we looked ridiculous (and I couldn't see where I was going!). I don't know whether to try a different one this time or just hope this baby is less fussy. It would be much easier to do things with the toddler if I had my hands free.

Confused at the x rated dream with Mr tumble! Although I strongly suspect Mr tumble isn't that way inclined.
