Great news about the scan fussy

Had my booking appointment this morning which went really well, makes it all feel more real and official. Another milestone ticked off and just over 3 weeks until my 12 week scan now so that's exciting too!

CarrotVan · 01/09/2015 13:44

How are people handling the caffeine withdrawal? I seem to have a permanent state of tiredness and slight headachiness and I'm sure it's because I've cut down from 2 diet cokes and 3-4 cups of tea to 1 diet coke or 1 cup of tea

CordeliaScott · 01/09/2015 13:46

The scan photo is amazing Fussy.

I have my booking appointment on Thursday and then should be about 4 weeks until the 12 week scan.

I could swing for MiL at the moment though. DH was on the phone to her yesterday and was saying that I was going for a nap as I was feeling rough with morning sickness and she started going on about how it's not like I'm sick. Grrr...

watermaid · 01/09/2015 13:56

aww just saw your scan pic fussy! cute :) And congrats on your booking in glitter, very exciting! I can't wait till mine, my MW (all being well of course) would be the same lady who looked after me and then delivered DS2 which is just lovely.

carrot ahhh I am not doing too well with a caffeine cut-down. I have one cup of filter coffee in the morning and another, or weak instant, in the afternoon... I don't drink tea or coke or anything tho and am off chocolate (wtf). I know it's controversial but there still aren't any proper stats that say caffeine is the enemy so can't be arsed to stress my poor body (and mind! I love my coffee breaks!) out too much. Is always a good reason to cut back on caffeine isn't there tho really. Hmmm...

Speaking of which, did anyone see some advice on babycentre (ahem) I think it was, saying pregnant women should only eat half-toasted toast?! Some chemical in actually cooked toast is meant to be dangerous (but as usual, no-one actually knows if it's dangerous... but it MIGHT be so, you know, put us on lockdown!) it was funny and annoying.

oh heck, I forgot - I cried at x factor at the weekend. My much younger sister and her new gf were over, it was veer embarrassing!

CarrotVan · 01/09/2015 14:19

What the hell? I refuse to eat soggy toast. A decent piece of toast is a thing of greatness and I can always managed toast even when I want to throw up with everything else

I'm finding tea tastes a bit weird but I miss my diet coke habit

Dexlie0806 · 01/09/2015 14:39

Fantastic scan pic fussy congrats.

I'm just about to leave for my first mw appt. I'm nervous and very scared in gonna puke in the room Blush

Wish me luck !!Smile

Rinnyx · 01/09/2015 14:52

Hello ladies, posting cause I'm stuck on a hour round trip on the bus, doing a test run today ready for work tomorrow, now £60 lighter to for a months pass Sad

Still no symptoms here (minus still no AF) and I'm wondering what the hells going on Confused I might ask my new Dr tomorrow to do another test, I've done 4, all BFP right away so what will one more hurt, right?

watermaid · 01/09/2015 15:39

agreed carrot

MazzleDazzle · 01/09/2015 16:36

Great scan pic fussy!

I've booked a private scan for the end of the month when I'll be 10 + 6. It's so exciting! Think i deserve an award for waiting for my husband to return from his work trip. It is so tempting when there is a scan clinic just 30 mins up the road!

Can't wait to shop! I was very practical with my first 2 and just bought the essentials. This time, since it may well be my last, I'm going to be a little more frivolous! Had a mass clear out and sold all of my baby things, so I need to start all over again.

PallasCat · 01/09/2015 16:48

Yay new thread! Thanks definitely

Sorry and sympathy to those going through a rough time. Rinny and Twll sounds like the last thing you need.

Just got in and actually feel too tired to post. I'm going to go for a nap.

Carrot I really miss caffeine! It's mainly the tea for me. I started a thread about this last week actually, which to my surprise got slightly controversial. Who'da thought?!

6+3 and the bloating has gone, mainly just so tired, sort of nauseous but more in that tired way, like when you're jet lagged. Waking up this morning though I did think maybe there's the start of a bump, as there's a definite pooch there even when I'm lying flat on my back, which I don't have usually.

Re: nausea - ginger tea, ginger biscuits, peppermints, lemonade and yeah, getting out in fresh air.

Right, nap time for me.

Feefee45 · 01/09/2015 17:24

Great pic fussy can't wait for mine which should be in two weeks

Good luck with work tomorrow Rinny

I know what you mean pallas I luckily have flexible working so came home early and napped for two and a half hours.

Definitelysometime · 01/09/2015 17:28

8 weeks today and now have to undo the button on my trousers when I sit down Blush. I don't think the three (yep, three) packets of crisps this afternoon to stave off nausea have helped matters.

Feeling so so sick and sorry for myself. Had a couple of coughing episodes today that ended with proper retching. My colleagues will guess in no time.

In positive news, have booked a scan for Friday - just couldn't hold out for the nhs one. Will be 8+3. Need to reassure myself there's just one baby in there. I feel SO much worse than with DD that I'm freaking myself out somewhat...

ashboo76 · 01/09/2015 18:13

I'm 8 weeks today too Definately and have same button problem. I stand up at work all day which is actually very helpful with fitting in my trousers ... So far.

Funny I wanted to tell the world last week ... But didn't excluding MIL ... This week I'm on shut down don't want to tell anyone.

Sorry all of you feeling awful and Twyll having such a rough time xx

FussyHendricks · 01/09/2015 18:45

I've completely gone off tea and coffee. They just don't taste the same as before.

My body is missing the caffeine though. I'm in a permanent state of exhaustion, and can't stop yawning once I reach 4pm. If I could stomach a cup I'd definitely still have a coffee on the train each morning just to keep me awake!

Emileelogan · 01/09/2015 18:47

Thanks for all the tips... I feel like it's getting worse the nearer I get to 12 weeks... Just me? Xx

Want2bSupermum · 01/09/2015 19:10

I am craving coffee so do a half decaf and half regular. I drink a large cup every day. Its about 2 regular cups. I could drink a gallon of the stuff!

The one thing I never do is drink alcohol once I am pregnant. The smell puts me off anyway and I was unlucky to see a baby with FAS. It was so very sad and really highlighted the dangers of drinking whilst pregnant. I force myself to eat veggies through soups and take my prenatal vitamins too. They are $75 a month but they do help me.

Emilee 12 weeks was my low point in both of my first two pregnancies. I pray this one is the same too as I really can't be doing with this funk going on much longer than that. I am 8+6 and I am just trying to think about it. Sadly I look pregnant and I don't know how long I can hide it for!

tappitytaptap · 01/09/2015 19:20

Hi ladies
Can sympthasise with the caffeine thing carrot though agree with one of the pp who said it all tastes a bit weird now!
I also have a little bump (9+5 today) and I know some of my friends have guessed - one who knows was having to fend off questions on Saturday night!
Went to the nurse today for more blood tests (ferritin, B12 and folate) as my booking in bloods last week showed a low platelet count. Not a massive surprise as my mum had the same thing when she was pregnant. No one has told me what any of these results might mean treatment or monitoring wise yet though!

Emileelogan · 01/09/2015 19:59

Im 8+5 and look like I've put weight on... Work don't know yet so I've said I've overindulged on my week off Wink

Dexlie0806 · 01/09/2015 21:15

Yes emillee. I'm 9 weeks now and I am def feeling worse not better. With both ds it calmed down at 12-14 weeks so really hoping this one does too. Grin
Had my first mw appt today and all was fine. Had bloods taken and answered lots of questions. I got weighed and have lost a stone already in the past few weeks. Not surprised with all the sickness. I don't know where off however cos I look no different in fact my stomach is def bigger.

Emileelogan · 01/09/2015 21:51

Hi dexlie I didn't have blood taken at my booking I'm secretly glad though lol... I'm not actually sick just constant nausea... Just can't wait for the scan now Smile

5madthings · 01/09/2015 22:17

My midwife tried to take bloods at booking app, but I have crap veins, so she couldn't get any. I need to go up to the hospital to get a specialist phlebotomist to do it.

I feel more sick in the evenings rather than the morning and I am missing tea but can't drink it as it makes me heave. Was the same with my other five, so I do cut down on caffeine but not through choice! Have also gone off chocolate and I am a chocoholic normally.

MsTea · 01/09/2015 22:29

I wish I'd gone off chocolate! It's the only thing I fancy most of the time. I am forcing myself to eat fruit and veg occasionally though. I daren't weigh myself but I wouldn't be surprised to have put on a stone already Blush. I just hope I can rein it in when the nausea subsides (though previous experience makes me think otherwise...)

CarrotVan · 02/09/2015 09:19

I still have very few symptoms. I'm tired but that could be other factors and really there's not a lot else. Roll on the 11th and my second EPU scan. I'll be nearly 9 wks then so should be able to see a lot more

MsGlitterJunkie · 02/09/2015 10:53

Can empathise with the crap veins 5madthings, usually it's a very traumatic experience but the midwife yesterday was fab although she did take the blood from the back of my hand, ouch!

Have a date for my 12 week scan - 24 Sept - 22 days to go and counting!

I'm feeling really rundown and now have two cold sores which is just annoying and I scared myself reading up about cold sores in pregnancy which can be really dangerous Confused another thing to add to my worry list!

poco2015 · 02/09/2015 12:31

marking place whilst i try and catch up... been without internet for a couple of days (its almost killed me)
