I am normally a ten when not preg and running etc, I have been very lucky after pregnancy to bounce back pretty quickly. It is just luck I think and as I cycle and walk everywhere that helps I think. I have a friend loaning me a coat that will fit with bump, mine is just Ok at Mo but as we head into winter I will need one thst fits.

Your children are quite close in age aren't they supermum? I think that makes a difference to recovery afterwards, there are 2 and a half years between each of the madthings, quite deliberately so maybe the larger gap helped. Oh and physio seemed to think all the swimming I have done might have helped tummy muscles. I am hoping it's the same this time but am a bit older now so will see.

I don't know any good American sites for maternity stuff, h&m is Ok in yhe UK, is it available over there?

ComeLuckyApril · 25/11/2015 16:26

Had my 20 week scan today - but baby didn't co-operate! So I have to go back on 10th December for a repeat and hopefully this time they can actually see the heart and spine (maybe also the sex!). Going to be a bit longer worrying, but at least what they have seen so far is normal and we got to see the baby grabbing their own feet, which was sweet.

I'm a size 16 and I just got a maternity coat on ebay, I'm so relieved because everywhere online seemed to be out of stock. Gradually building up a wardrobe from ebay, mostly trousers so far as normal tops are OK with a bellyband.

5madthings I did have my first two close together. I also went back to work when DD was 5 months old and DS was 8 weeks old. I was working FT until 12 months ago so I had zero time to exercise. When I went PT I reduced my hours from 60 to 40. My big issue is finding time to exercise. DH has been away quite a bit and when that happens its awful. I'm also so so tired with this pregnancy. I am in bed about half an hour after I get home from work.

H&M and motherhood maternity are the two big maternity clothing shops. I am thinking of trying on my mothers mink coat rather than spending the $120 on a coat I will only use for 4 months.

pingoose · 25/11/2015 17:43

want2b what about Old Navy/Gap? I'm hoping they do some good Black Friday deals on maternity and baby stuff...

PurplePoppy17 · 25/11/2015 17:45

I had to buy some maternity jeans, I'm
A size 10 usually and the buttons just seem a bit right now so I got mine from new look. It's over the bump so still a little baggy but much more comfortable than normal jeans.

Me and my OH usually have a bit of baby time every night laying in bed and as soon as he puts his hands on my belly baby moves towards him. It feels amazing. Baby keeps pressing/pushing hard against my belly so it looks really weird as one side of my belly is huge and the other isn't bit not all the time. Just when it's getting attention. Lots of movements lately. I'm 20 weeks today Smile

Want2bSupermum · 25/11/2015 17:50

Old navy stuff is horrible. It looks great on the hanger but awful when you put it on. It's also not that cheap plus maternity ends up being all online with the stores giving you are hard time if you want to return something you have had delivered but doesn't fit.

Want2bSupermum · 25/11/2015 17:51

I'm going to try Walmart after this weekend. It's going to be a zoo there on Friday.

KnitsBakesAndReads · 25/11/2015 23:42

Poppy, this is a bit of a late reply (have been away for a few days) but if you're still suffering then I really recommend Aveeno products for sore or itchy skin. They have a bath / shower oil and a light moisturiser which are both lovely and soothing on sore skin. (No, I don't work for them, just a loyal customer!)

Brooke, that's exactly what the first movements I felt were like too. I mostly felt them when I was lying down or sitting in an upright chair (like at a desk) but now I sometimes feel them when standing too.

April, good luck for your repeat scan, I hope they manage to see everything they need to and you're able to find out the sex if you want to.

I've been wearing maternity jeans for a couple of weeks now. My regular jeans would still just about fasten but were getting so uncomfortable that I finally gave up on them. I can still fit into some of my normal tops, but it's starting to get to the point where non-maternity clothes just look a bit too stretched around my bump. I really need to get a maternity coat soon, at the moment I'm trying to make do with my regular coats unbuttoned but the weather is getting a bit too cold for that to work much longer. Hoping I'll manage to find one that's not too expensive as I don't really want to spend a lot on a coat that I'll only be wearing for a few months.

RalucaMorena · 27/11/2015 18:36

So I am 18 w+1d. If this baby is anything like his/her brother this means I'm halfway. Last time I got to this point it was different. So here comes the question:(tmi warning) do any of you lovely ladies get sharp pain in the back passage? As far as I know I don't have hemorrhoids but maybe they develop internally? The pain is like sharp needles and doesn't stay long. It comes and goes.

Want2bSupermum · 27/11/2015 20:37

ral that does sound like the start of varicose veins. It starts as piles. I'm praying I don't get them. My stomach is shot after my second so I am praying the God of pregnancy is kind to me this time.

I'm very irritated in general. It's thanksgiving and DH has been on my nerves. It's all what he wants. I'm ready to throw the play station and beer out. He got into bed last night and stank. Fell asleep and snored so loudly that I just went and slept on the sofa.

crumblybiscuits · 27/11/2015 20:56

RalucaMorena
I get that but thought it was baby leaning against it painfully as I can feel her kicking it a lot!

MazzleDazzle · 27/11/2015 21:29

Yes, varicose veins start internally. Pain first, visible veins will eventually follow.

I have vaginal varicose veins, never had piles though, but I'd imagine it's similair? My midwife says that as hormone levels fluctuate, they might not stay the whole pregnancy and might get better. I'm doubtful!

RalucaMorena · 29/11/2015 17:24

So what does one do in this situation?

Want2bSupermum · 29/11/2015 19:58

My friends here who have piles during pregnancy get put on a different supplement and told to drink tonnes of water. Not sure what the supplement is or if it helps. If they have any constipation they are given stool softeners.

PurplePoppy17 · 29/11/2015 21:39

I have internal piles and have done for a couple of weeks now. I have IBS which makes it worse. I was given lactulose to 'soften' stools and a cream to apply too. It's very sore. I often get shooting pains ect internally in the back passage. Way TMI sorry!! Just one of those things I suppose Sad

MrWriter · 30/11/2015 11:50

Oh goodness, sorry to hear some ladies are suffering.

I have piles and a few weeks back I thought my arse was gonna explode but after making sure I drink gallons of water and using the cream, they are thankfully a lot easier to manage.

Oh the glamour of pregnancy.

MazzleDazzle · 30/11/2015 13:11

I've upped my water intake too as I had a bout or cystitis (and thrush, and vaginal veins, and molloscum!).

Feel so much better today. Water can make such a difference to so many ailments.

Decorating the tree with the kids today. My DH is away working for 5 weeks over Christmas, so we're putting it up early to make the most of the time he's at home. Usually we go for a full size real one, but as he'll be away when it's time to take it down we're going for a smaller, artificial one instead.
