Twll I'm a qualified lv3 early years practitioner but I'm starting a job as a KS1 TA Wednesday so all new to me as Ive only covered the EYFS while doing my lv3 Diploma & training, that's part of the reason I'm nervous plus telling them I'm pregnant Sad
Another reason I want a scan ASAP

I'm not sure what to take in on my inset day apart from my DBS check, just know I need to be there at 8:30 tho my bus arrives at 8 and it's gonna take me an hour to get to the doctors via bus & walking

TwllBach · 31/08/2015 17:08

You will love it Rinny I teach nursery but cover PPA across an infant school as well and the whole of KS1 is just so much fun Grin

That should be all you need really... although take a pad and pen in case they have you in meetings and take food as you'll be surprised at how hungry you will be - even if you weren't pregnant Smile

Sorry to hear it'll be a pain getting to the doctors though Sad

MsGlitterJunkie · 31/08/2015 17:51

Hi all, have been away for a few days for the bank holiday so just catching up.

Big hugs to sophia, cotton & mascara.

rinny and twll I'm sorry to hear your having issues, sometimes it seems like there's a mountain of crap to deal with all at the same time but you will get through it, ditto carrot - hopefully each journey you do will become a tiny bit easier and before you know it it won't be quite as awful as it was when you first started. Also only 11 days until your next scan so that's to look forward to. Re: Mr Van can he get some help with the anxiety and are there any friends or family that could step in and help out over the next little while?

I'm now 8+4 and have my booking appointment tomorrow which I'm quite excited about, makes it feel much more real I think!

Emileelogan · 31/08/2015 18:46

New thread :) anyone got any nausea tips please.? Ginger biscuits aren't working anymore lol... Think it's sickness as I'm back in work tomorrow after ten days off :(

TwllBach · 31/08/2015 20:22

Sorry Emilee I can't think of any SadSad

Can I ask a potentially stupid question? When dating, does it go 5+2, 5+3, 5+4, 5+5, 5+6, 5+7, 6, 6+2 etc

OR

5, 5+1, 5+2 etc? I'm confused... I was 5+5 on Wednesday last week...

ComeLuckyApril · 31/08/2015 20:26

Nausea tips...depends how bad, do ask for medication if needed! But the main thing that helps me is to try to force down something every hour. Blander the better - those water crackers are good. And weirdly, getting out and walking around in the fresh air, while not what I want to do, helps when I do it - I think any distraction helps. In the early days snacking on nuts helped me.

meganlilly89 · 31/08/2015 20:32

9 + 2 now. Nausea has stepped up over the last couple of days. Couldn't even eat my Nandos yesterday ????

I am coping with mints and water. Then eating whatever I can when I feel like it. My diet hasn't been the best for the last few weeks.

CarrotVan · 31/08/2015 21:13

It's +1, +2 etc twil

TwllBach · 31/08/2015 21:19

Thanks Carrot so I was 5 + 5 on Wednesday, 5+6 on Thursday, 5+7 on Friday, 6 on Saturday, 6+1 on Sunday, 6+2 today is that right?

I'm finding it really difficult to understand BlushBlush hope to God you're children are not being taught by me

MsTea · 31/08/2015 21:39

Not quite Twll, there's no +7, just 5+1, 5+2, 5+3, 5+4, 5+5, 5+6, 6. So if you were 5+5 last wed you'll be 6+3 today.

Feefee45 · 31/08/2015 21:52

Twll to add to Tea it's because the day after you are 5weeks+6days you would have moved in to another week thus 6 weeks. Hope that helps you understand it a little better.

TwllBach · 31/08/2015 22:02

Thank you Blush there is no end to my stupidity sometimes!

SaltySeaBird · 31/08/2015 22:12

Oh new thread!

Well I'm entering my ninth week now, still very nervous about things but I've had three scans now (not because of problems but because of medical history and other issues). All have been find though, at the last two they did it so we could hear the heartbeat sound in the room which was lovely.

I've also told work, I had to due to forward planning, they were lovely though.

I'm getting very bloated, no bump just overall inflation ... very few clothes are fitting well and I've not helped myself by eating a lot of rubbish carbs - in part to try and help the really strong nausea. I have two modes - eating and feeling sick .... I piled on the weight with DD and to be honest haven't lost it all yet so determined to try and limit it this time.

EmilyBlackthorn · 31/08/2015 22:17

Hi Salty I'm glad work were good about it! Would you mind telling me a little bit about your scans? Have you had early ones? Any as early as 6 weeks? What could you see/hear?

Sorry Blush

SaltySeaBird · 31/08/2015 22:52

With this pregnancy I've had scans at 4, 7 and 8 weeks.

With my DD I had scans at 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 24, 32, 34, 36, 38

With my other two pregnancies I had 5, 6 and then 6, 8.

So when it comes to scans while I'm not a sonographer I'm a bit of an pro from the lying on the bed point of view!

With early scans I saw nothing at 4 weeks, gestational sac + yolk + foetal pole at five weeks and then have always seen a heartbeat from 6 weeks onwards (even when I've then miscarried). I know a few people who haven't, but did see one a week later.

I was quite surprised by the difference with this pregnancy between 7 and 8 weeks - it was still a blob rather than distinctive baby though. By 10 weeks my DD looked more baby shaped though.

I have a fair few complications and I'm also diabetic with the nicest consultant team you could hope for. I see them fortnightly and they are quite happy for me to be scanned as part of the appointment, hence the number I've had.

It is most interesting between 10-34 weeks I think, either side of that the baby is too small or too big to be that clear on the screen.

Hope that helps!

EmilyBlackthorn · 31/08/2015 22:57

Wow thank you very much! That's really useful and interesting, although I'm sorry that you've had the need to have so many. Flowers

Emileelogan · 31/08/2015 23:10

Thank u everyone no actual sickness but all day feeling blergh lol xx

KnitsBakesAndReads · 31/08/2015 23:56

Emilee, have you tried ginger tea? I've been lucky not to have really bad nausea so far but I've found ginger tea really helps when I do feel a bit ill. I also find not letting myself get too hungry helps so I try to eat not long after getting up in the morning and then have regular snacks and meals. I'll probably be the size of a house by next April if I carry on eating like this though!

5madthings · 01/09/2015 00:14

Marking place on new thread.

Sorry to those who have had losses or are having a hard time

rhinny I will see you thu at school! Xx

I am Ok, feeling tired and sick and my boobs hurt. Terrified of something goung wrong and dh is being grumpy. I just need to get to 12 wks and dating scan etc, I had my booking app with midwife and she was lovely so that's good.

Will be back to read and catch up properly soon, well prob when school is back and I have more time!

pingoose · 01/09/2015 01:06

Hi all! Just checking in. 6+2 today and feeling the nausea and bloating, and having hot flushes! Also, notice my nipples have definitely grown the past few days! At a conference at the moment, told my coworker I was feeling delicate after a big night drinking and she's not really asked why I've not had any drinks since Saturday. Fingers crossed she's a bit clueless!

FussyHendricks · 01/09/2015 08:18

Thanks for the shiny new thread Definitely. Fab title!

Hugs and Flowers to Cotton, Sophia and Masacara, such sad news

Rinnyx best of luck for your first day tomorrow.

Twll sorry you and DP are having problems. That sounds tough. Maybe he needs a bit more time to get used to the idea? Good luck with the scan today.

Carrot hope work is a bit easier for you this week and DH settles into his new job well.

I had an early scan this weekend and happy to say all looked good and we heard a nice strong heartbeat which was lovely. Dates changed slightly making me 9+6 today but no doubt that will change again at my 12 week scan.

I'm going to attempt to post a photo...

FussyHendricks · 01/09/2015 08:21

Here goes...

April 2016 babies. Nausea, bloating and wind - feeling HOT!
MazzleDazzle · 01/09/2015 08:28

Morning,

Just marking my place! I've been more of a lurker that a poster. DH is now 2 weeks down, 3 to go. I'm surviving. Just. Will book a private scan for the day after he's home.

The constant nausea and tiredness are tough. Doubt by DH would have much sympathy if he was here. Hard to believe that symptoms can be this size when are babies are only the size of a blueberry!

The NHS have definitely forgotten about me! Went for a Dr's appt 3 weeks ago and no word of a booking appt or scan date. Will call again today.

Survived a sober concert at the weekend! Hopefully I managed to fool my friends as I really don't want anyone to know for as long as possible.

Rinnyx · 01/09/2015 08:58

Thanks Twll I'll sort a pad & pen out tonight, only got a small handbag, all the rest at packed and in storage Blush

Thanks Glitter and Fussy
I think after Everything that's happened the last 2 years DP and I get on better not being around each other 24/7, think that's why it's been abit stressy of late
So hoping me being out from 7am til 4/5pm will be good for us both even tho I'm still so nervous about the job Blush

I'll catch you after school madthings if that's ok, not sure if I'll get out at 3:15 or 3:30 but can't get a bus til 4 if I get out after 3:30 and will be at school at 8 each day

watermaid · 01/09/2015 13:13

Hey everyone! I don't expect you to remember me as I have barely posted, but have a second to pop in and say HI! I am really touched that I am on your stats list, thanks for that :) I was unable to log in again after the mumsnet password/hacking debacle... I got all confuddled and needed new passwords etc.

Great to hear about everyones symptoms! I am busy looking after my two young boys and doing holiday stuff etc, and because it is a secret am all alone with my pg-induced weirdnesses. I pretty much can't eat food that isn't brown, can't eat very much, want to swim but MAN I am tired, everyone STINKS, and I feel sick, hot, cold, angry and just plain off ;) All good signs I know, but still is reassuring to read of so many of you feeling the same! Scan next week (at 7 weeks-ish... please be a baby in there).

It is great to hear that so many of you are doing well, but my heart goes out to those of us who are not. Miscarrying is an utter, utter devastation - been there, done that, on one of these boards too Flowers The grief cannot be underestimated. However, if it helps at all, we and so many others on the mc board conceived again not too long after and have our babies and more... there is happiness again.

Will read back through slowly but surely this aft and catch up properly. My kidlings are finally tired out so am not in such demand (heaven).

Ah. Spoke to soon... laters ladies!
