Morning.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
largeginandtonic · 28/11/2006 14:33

Our poor dh working all these hours to support us. It is hard at home but i would rather that thn have to leave them and go out to work, im very lucky.

Welcome and Congrats BenfnalBub (that is a mouthful) so pleased you are joining us. Prepare for the crazy onslaught...

I know what you mean MKG, when you are on your own you just get on with it. When they are home you find yourself resentful of them as they dont do things that we do a hundred times a day without thinking. I hate the fact i have to prompt (nag) Sometimes it is better on your own...

Juicylucythe2nd · 28/11/2006 14:39

Befnalbub - Welcome - are you by any chance in E2?

MKG · 28/11/2006 14:42

I know, I feel like a single parent sometimes. I don't know how you do it with 5.

Creena · 28/11/2006 14:50

Hello and welcome, BefnalBub - I'm due the day after yourself and MKG.

I forgot about TPT! Have just done my measurement and I'm up half a sheet from last week to nine sheets. Mind you, I have just eaten a whole chicken salad baguette.

largeginandtonic · 28/11/2006 14:51

It's not so different i dont think MKG, once you are thinking about another person every hour of every day, its just a few more people! One baby is all encompassing and life changing, the others just tack on...... Oh and a bigger washing pile....that is a killer.

Am off to do the dreaded school run now, back on later

twelvedaysofchristmas · 28/11/2006 14:57

I have had a shocker of a headache since I woke up this morning and have already managed to have a fight with DH over instant messenger over NEXT Christmas, having asked if I can invite my mum (thus meaning my step dad would probably come). Ended up blocking him from contacting me, which is the nearest you can get to hanging up on someone I suppose.

Will try to remember to measure next time I go to the loo.

I just need to go to bed and sleep it all off I think.

12DOC - poor you luv. Go to bed for a lie down. A siesta is just what you, your poor head and your LO need.

Hope it goes away soon - have you taken paracetamol?

Been getting headaches myself, but only really light ones. You have all my sympathy. xx

twelvedaysofchristmas · 28/11/2006 15:19

Had some this morning but it really upset my stomach. I've had loads of time off work lately, otherwise I'd go home now. Oh well. Moany moan moan.

My friend had a baby last night. Am dreading going to see them. Her husband made a pass at me the last time I saw them and sent me explicit texts, which I told her about. Awkward beyond belief! I can usually avoid him, but can hardly expect him to be out of his own house.

MKG & Creena - we'll have to see who gets farthest into June - I'm aiming for the 6th for some random pregnant reason, though the sonographer told me its head was rather large for the may 26th which may bring it back into May. Didn't have the heart to tell her DP has a huge head (can't find sunglasses to reach his ears) so probably just normal for his family. Dreading the birth . JLT2 I'm in E2, just near cambridge heath station - you?

Juicylucythe2nd · 28/11/2006 15:32

Befnalbub - now that is wierd. My birthday is June 6th - I live in Whitechapel near the hospital, so we are practically neighbours!!

12DOC - It really isn't your day, is it!

If it's any consolation I'm off to the dentists in 1/2 an hour to see what damage my ms/toothbrushing fandango has had on my back tegs. Dreading getting a telling off for not brushing properly!

ShowOfHands · 28/11/2006 16:00

Afternoon pregnant people.

This thread moves too fast! I just can't keep up. Wasn't able to post over the weekend as our boiler/plumbing/pipes gave up the ghost on Friday and left us with no water or heating. Had to decamp to the ILs for the weekend while the plumber supposedly fixed it (still isn't fixed now but hey ho). Plus, the estate agents have invented a game called 'stall our house move and make stupid mistakes'. Still, getting on here and reading about Charleymouse's news has put it all in perspective. If the power of collective positive thoughts can achieve anything then I have high hopes for her and her little babies. I'll be thinking of her.

I have my 16wk appointment tomorrow and frankly I have been in a right old tizz about it. You'd think the growing bump and the fact that I can feel the baby moving would reassure me somewhat, but no I seem to be able to blindly panic with no just cause. The upshot is that I have bought a fetal doppler (arrived this morning). Stupidly I tried to use it without checking the archives on Mumsnet first, did it all wrong and couldn't hear anything (cue more panic). Thankfully, I've read up on it, am using it properly and now I can hear a very strong little heartbeat and some whooshing which is apparently the blood in the placenta. Now I just have to stop myself strapping it to my tummy permanently and using it as an alternative MP3 player.

So what happens at a 16wk antenatal? Triple test I know, I'm positive that there will be a fair amount of weighing and measuring, blood pressure and I'm going to be carrying a wee sample round with me all day as I assume they'll want one. Anything else I should know about?

Oh and I have a hairy stomach. What's all that about then?

Welcome newbies and my TPT measurement is back down to 7.5 after an exciting increase to 8 last week. Pah!

pebblemum · 28/11/2006 16:14

Welcome BB, im due May 23rd but ds2 was 8 days late so im another who may be joining you on the June thread at the end

I have just found out that my parents are going away for two weeks on June 1st (my anniversary) I really hope this baby arrives before then. My mum was a great help for both my previous labours (nice having someone in the room who understands what you are going through and who knows exactly where to rub your back) and although i havent really spoke to dh about it i was kind of hoping my mum would be there for this one too even if she was just on standby outside the room It is nice that my parents are finally treating themselves though so i cant be too upset. For years they spent all their time and money looking after us, the house etc and working. Now they have retired and moved to a smaller place they finally have time/money to enjoy themselves. Before June last year they had never been abroad, now this holiday in june will be their 3rd

MKG i feel the same when my dh is off work, he drives me mad. When i had ds2 dh didnt take paternity leave as he works evenings anyway so he could spend all day with us. It was just the evening that he wasnt there but thats what ive been used to for ages so changing it just would have annoyed me. A while ago he badly damaged his back and had to have three weeks off work, how i didnt kill him i dont know And when the new baby comes along i wil be grateful for his company during the day so i can rest a bit but at night I will still want my time without having to put up with him. Dont get me wrong i love him and its nice spending time together but after about three days it starts to get annoying Im so glad he doesnt log on here and read my posts lol

Frenchsmallfry · 28/11/2006 16:21

Welcome to the may thread Befnalbub, congratulations.

Sorry you have been feeling rough 12DOC, I hope you feel better now. Can't believe you are fighting about next Christmas, poor you.

I actually felt baby today, Yay!!!! Am sure it will probably be the only time for a while again. I was sat chatting with a friend, drinking a nice cup of tea. Gave my bump (fat) a gentle poke and it poked me back, right on the side though, so maybe it's right what people have said. Only feeling things at the side with a low placenta. ?

I have a quetsion for the Londoners? Now don't laugh because I am probably being stupid but is it Befnal (eeeek here comes the stupid bit) as in Befnal Green? I have no idea how it is spelt but it always sounds like Befnal, but I presumed it was Bethnal and that the people talking just can't talk proplerly. I should say in my deffence I really haven't been to London that much!

twelvedaysofchristmas · 28/11/2006 16:30

It is Bethnal Green, and yes, some people pronounce it Befnal. Suspect Befnal's name is toungue in cheek, if indeed it refers to Bethnal Green.

Maybe she can put us right...

OP posts:
peacemakerukuk · 28/11/2006 16:30

I always thought it was pronounced Befnel Green but don't hold me to it

Frenchsmallfry · 28/11/2006 16:32

SOH What a pain about the house, there should be licencing laws about just inventing games like that, surely they need some kind of risk assessment done first. I have a doppler; you are right you need to be very rational with it, do NOT panic if you can't find it, go to the loo, jump around for a bit and then try again. Always worked for me. I have to say I love mine it can be very re-assuring but I believe you have to be the "right" kind of person to own one, maybe somepeople could go out of their mind with worry? IMO anyway. I used to use mine alot at first but the novelty does where off, I use it about 3 times a week at the moment but with dd once I could feel her move I hardly used it at all. Ds enjoys listening to it with us.

Sorry for another long post. xxx

BefnalBub · 28/11/2006 16:58

PMSL at the Befnal stuff - very toungue in cheek i'm afraid! Been here for 7 years but still a relative newbie - the locals do say 'Befnal' but it is Bethnal Green. Hope I haven't offended anyone [Blush] on my first day posting!

Frenchsmallfry · 28/11/2006 17:16

No offence at all,Well to me anyway, it was just something that I thought about and you know what it's like when you see something that you've always thought was something else but don't really know you stat doubting yourself.

lol at the locals saying Befnal though, it's very londony, do you know, I think I've only heard it from the occassional trip on the tube. Thank you for clearing it up in my silly mind for me. I might be able to sleep tonight now.

twelvedaysofchristmas · 28/11/2006 17:18

I don't think any of us are particularly easily offended.

OP posts:
Frenchsmallfry · 28/11/2006 18:14

Too true, 12DOC,, ( I cant get used to calling you that, may still have to call you TYG )

largeginandtonic · 28/11/2006 19:14
