Good to know sleepy - being jostled is a good point. I'm not so fussed about seats yet but am lucky enough to usually get one (near the start of the bus route there and back!) and when I'm big enough to need one am fairly sure my fellow travellers will accommodate Smile

But for other trips across town for meetings etc or when I get the tube home (as a treat) it might be nice to have just in case...

lilyb84 · 06/08/2015 16:44

Valancy the spa sounds heavenly! Hope you're feeling very relaxed, boob stabbing aside... Grin

Nightfall1983 · 06/08/2015 16:48

I have a Baby on Board badge for the rare occasions when I use the tube (it's busy where we are so though I use the bus and train fairly often I don't need a badge), as mentioned above it's not so that I can get a seat, it's to avoid being pushed around. Having said that we got the tube to the Natural History Museum on Saturday and I forgot the badge at home, sigh!

Romeolovesjuliet · 06/08/2015 16:57

Kep so sorry about your friend, as others have said even when you know it's coming it is no less painful. Also, such sad news for your friend going through ivf.
I walked from Waterloo to work this morning and back this evening so a bit achey but didn't have to contend with crowds. I also share the dislike of the baby on board bases for no particular reason, so do t

Romeolovesjuliet · 06/08/2015 16:59

don't have one (someone just practically say of my lap on the train and I hit send early!). That said I can always get a seat on my train and just hang back if the tube is rammed to avoid getting shoved.

SleepyDragon · 06/08/2015 17:03

I think it sometimes make a difference which line you use and where you work too...

my SIL never had one, she used to get the C2C straight in and had no issues, if i have to use the tube its H&C, Central or Jubilee so its rammed even at quiet times (why DO tourists travel in rush hour?!?!?!)

I'm always fine on C2C but the tube i always get shoved around.... and as for walking through LBBD, i may as well just wear a target, everyone just walks into you, i learned very early on to walk round with my elbows out LOL

Pugmumlondon · 06/08/2015 17:04

Still on the bus! Not even at kings x
Yet but in comparison to last time this is progress!

I do have a BOB badge but I have to contend with getting on the tube at South ken and travelling for an hour. I normally get a seat - eventually - normally through someone getting up to get off. I have been offered but never ever by a woman. And people actively pretend not to see you. What I find the most difficult is lack of space - it's so so crowded in the evening. Worse than the Victoria line if that's possible!

lilyb84 · 06/08/2015 17:07

I think you're right sleepy, it really depends on your commute. Think I'll just perfect my belly-out pose for the rare occasions I'm on busier tubes and be thankful that my journey's not a bad one! Thanks for all your comments.

lilyb84 · 06/08/2015 17:09

Forgot you were around South Ken, pug - nightmare. Hope you haven't had any more horrible experiences like before though? I get the Victoria line occasionally from Kings X and actually find it quite easy - going but I travel south so most people get off at Oxford Circus and Victoria!

SleepyDragon · 06/08/2015 17:10

Lily bend your back inwards, push your tummy out and rub it with the occasional 'oooof' noise .... LOL

Grin
Pugmumlondon · 06/08/2015 17:19

Yep lily horrid. It's been ok actually. Packed and boiling but ok. Traffic is sooooo bad. Now on a different bus... May get off and walk.

Loving the thigh theories btw - hoping it's true, mine are huge!!!

dinosaurdaughter · 06/08/2015 17:31

I have a badge, I don't wear it much but keep it in my bag as it comes in handy at Piccadilly Circus in the evenings when the tourists are about. The Bakerloo line is pretty quiet when I travel so usually get a seat. Luckily was working from home today as had a consultant appointment. Can I ask has anyone here had a vbac after c section? My consultant really seemed to be pushing it and I wanted to get some views.
kep so sorry about your friend

Brooke113 · 06/08/2015 18:42

dinosaurdaughter I was asking about normal delivery after cs early on, with dd I went through a gruelling 26hr labour only to be told she was too big for me to push out, so with DS I cowardly went for another cs and have always regretted it. I would LOVE a normal delivery this time around and although a lot of hospitals don't like to do normal deliveries after two cs my trust here in Shropshire seem to ok it, my midwife was all for me trying a normal delivery :)

Juniper404 · 06/08/2015 19:30

Valancy my scan is scheduled for the afternoon on 3rd Sept, which is the first proper day back (Wed is INSET). Such unfortunate timing that, seeing as I only work 2.5 days a week, I'm going to have to miss half a day.

Looking forward to my scan but that'll also mean the holidays are over so definitely not counting down!

dinosaurdaughter · 06/08/2015 19:51

brooke thanks for the reply. Good to hear you gace the option of a normal birth. I think my inclination is to have a c section because I know what to expect but I don't want to regret it if don't try for a natural birth.

dinosaurdaughter · 06/08/2015 19:52

*get not gace

mrschatty · 06/08/2015 20:00

Aw I'm watching obem...sobbing at that young girl who had pnd Sad only half way through the show now!

hotcrossbun83 · 06/08/2015 20:07

I have a BOB badge because I don't like it when (pre-preg) someone stands near me and I think they're pregnant but can't be sure and don't want to offend them, then feel guilty for not offering my seat. I also had a couple of awful reactions from people when I asked for seats last time I was pregnant, so if I can be offered one instead I prefer it. I'm almost fainting if I stand for 30 mins, I think my bp is low

kep1979 · 06/08/2015 20:09

brooke that is interesting, which trust is that? I'm in Shropshire too and was told that as I'd had two sections they wouldn't go for a vbac. In my case I have a narrow pelvic arch and seem to make big babies so probably necessary anyway, but just interested as I'd like to at least consider it - I had big pph after last section and always wondered if it was cause of the section.

Brooke113 · 06/08/2015 20:29

kep I'm at Princess Royal. I see the midwife there, and at my 16w apt when I asked whether a natural delivery was an option at all, she said at least twice that as a trust, they would prefer you to try a natural delivery even after 2 cs, she did say that I would need a consultant nearby in case they had to do a cs, but I thought maybe it would be worth it, il discuss it later on down the line :)

spydie · 06/08/2015 20:57

Avoided all London travel chaos today by having this week off work Wink Thursday's are my London days as well.

I also don't like the BOB badges, great concept but just feel gimmicky? But no issue with others wearing them, but as my usual work location is Surrey and always get a seat on train don't see the point for me. When in London I've started getting a later train so I get a seat, and giving myself plenty of time to get to London Bridge so I can again get a seat. If not I have no issue sitting on the floor if I feel the need. Actually, I don't hold out any hope of anyone offering a seat.... Had a ruptured ovarian cyst last year, maybe should have gone straight to a&e rather than take myself home (practically passing out in the process! Confused) and ended up collapsed on floor on train... Not one person asked if I was ok... Apparently I was grey when husband collected me from station, and I did then get admitted to hospital for 3 days. Gotta love commuters lol!!!

Sorry to hear of your friend, kep, sending hugs Flowers, and to those also with worries right now Flowers

MissSMartin · 06/08/2015 21:02

for a ftm is there any more mw appointments between 16 and 28 weeks?

spydie · 06/08/2015 21:06

MissSMartin I have another at 24 weeks; I took a pic of the appointment schedule in my notes if that's of any interest Smile

kep1979 · 06/08/2015 21:32

Thanks Brooke. I'm in Shrewsbury although will have to deliver at the PRH under the consultant unit.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts, sometimes life seems very unfair. Dh is gutted, he wanted to ask him to be godfather when we had a baby, so it's extra sadHmm

spydie · 06/08/2015 22:00

Ok here's a weird one.... Is anyone else finding they are reacting to toothpaste now pregnant!?

Ever since I fell pregnant I've been suffering a dry mouth roughly an hour after brushing, and with it is all this yucky stringy white stuff. Lasts half hour or so and the white stuff is the last bit, then feels normal again. Isn't thrush, and mentioned to MW who said maybe it's a dairy intolerance, and to avoid dairy for breakfast (no idea if it happens at night as only brush right before going to bed and tend to zone immediately!). Cut out dairy and still happening. Been googling tonight and came across it being a reaction to harsh toothpastes, causing the skin to slough off, described exactly as I'm experiencing.

Always used the same toothpaste, and never ever had any issues. Really bizarre!? And rank too, I might add!!!! Going to try a different toothpaste and see what happens.
