Hello all! Sorry I haven't been commenting as much lately, it's been a manic couple of weeks. Still reading though! Have been reading the bf comments with interest as I'm definitely going to be giving it a go but don't have any real expectations as yet - plus will need to have a solution that works for both me and my DH when I go back to work (don't think we have enough locakable rooms to do what you did, lutrinae!).
So glad to hear things are going well after all the worry, brickie, congrats to those of you also getting encouraging news at various scans and appointments, and hugs to those with ongoing concerns. MissM, also very glad to hear you seem to have come through the worst of the sickness at last!!
For those going through crappy times at work, you have ALL my sympathy. I don't particularly enjoy my job and am struggling a bit with it emotionally as well as practically, but can't imagine how stressful it must be when your very basic contract or entitlements are in question. Hugs to you all and fingers crossed for positive outcomes.
I watched OBEM and had a similar reaction to lots of you to the amazing baby save! Having no experience of birth as yet but knowing from things I've read (rather than things seen on TV) that I'd very much like an active labour, I don't totally understand why pretty much every single birth on the show is laying down on the bed..?
One thing I've noticed, though: really young mothers giving birth make me weep, whereas older mothers (even post-25, even with cystic fibrosis like the lovely lady on last night's show) don't move me so much. Maybe I want to mother the mothers?! The 21 year old in the tracksuit had me bawling - it was just so moving how she wanted to feel the pain after being detached from her first baby for so many weeks. Bless!
My 20 week scan is still 5 1/2 weeks away on 15 September when I'll be 21+4. Looking forward to it given the massive gap, and hoping I get to hear the hb at my next mw appt in a couple of weeks' time! My tummy's permanently round but not yet at bump levels, although have finally started putting on a couple of pounds, and bought a (decidedly matronly) maternity bra earlier this week.
Finally, hope you fellow Londoners haven't been too inconvenienced by the strike today. My bus journey was loooooong this morning and I'm feeling a bit nauseous again after a couple of weeks' respite so kind of dreading the journey home...
