Thanks everyone, as daft as it sounds i am feeling pretty down about it, i can't help but think its something i have done and i am to blame.

Stupid yes, they want me to keep trying for another week as the tablets apparently 'don't give those kind of side effects' so they think i've not got enough food in my stomach to absorb them when i'm taking them.

Brickie fingers crossed for you that you don't need it, and that all goes well with your scan

In fact - FX for all scans today!!!!!!! Grin

i had my first was it planned question today... is it normal to want to slap the woman.....??? lol

17wk tomorrow and 20wk scan on 27 august!!!

brickiemum2 · 05/08/2015 12:40

Erm....when I had all those side effects I was told they were less common but still recognised symptoms of labetalol. It also crossed the placenta and meant that my dd couldn't maintain her blood sugar for 48 hours after birth. Fortunately we managed through that on breastmilk alone.

mrschatty · 05/08/2015 12:43

When I'm at midwife later ill definitely discuss uti see what they say they will take a urine sample there! sleepy I hope your ok hunni Sad

SleepyDragon · 05/08/2015 12:57

Brickie thats exactly what my google search showed them as too!

i am SOOOOO jealous of you ladies getting to ehar the HB again at 16wks, because mine was overshadowed by the BO he didnlt do any sound scans or anything so i haven't heard/seen anything since 12wk scan and have to wait till 27 August...

Thanks MrsChatty a bit up and down, like i say i'm blaming myself despite doing everything im told to (apart fromm the losing weight bit funnily enough...)

mrschatty · 05/08/2015 13:02

My midwife sais ill defo hear hb today...so my whole clan have decides they'll 'meet me at the hospital..." Hmm they are here from Scotland visiting during the last of their summer holiday...7 people in a midwifes office. Great idea.

Lookingforadvice123 · 05/08/2015 13:25

I've been feeling movements since 15 weeks so really early, I have a posterior placenta though which makes it easier to feel (think that's what it's called when it sits at the back of the uterus)? They were only tiny little flicks / twitches and random, no pattern to them. Today I've felt loads though sitting at my desk in work! Had loads of little flicks one after the other, then baby must've done a somersault or something as I felt a little wave over to the middle, it was a bit like the feeling you get on a roller coaster but across rather than down! Lush.

Definitely on countdown until the 20 week scan! 17th August, a week Monday. Can't wait but I know I'll be so anxious on the day as they check everything in so much detail!

Lorksalordy · 05/08/2015 13:59

Sleepy - my 20 week scan is also on the 27th and I am 17 weeks tomorrow :)

Yokyil · 05/08/2015 14:24

On the uti front - what symptoms did you all have? Have been quite painy under my bump, no burning when I pee, but my tummy is quite sore down low when I go, am going a little bit more than normal.

18+5

TeenieDeenie · 05/08/2015 14:28

Spydie I also had my 16 week midwife appointment this morning. Wasn't expecting to hear the heartbeat, I thought the midwife just wanted a feel of my tummy. Next thing I know she's got the doppler on me and found it straight away. Such a lovely sound, I thought my heart was going to burst! Grin She also said that he/she is very active in there, which is how baby was at our 12 week scan. Seems we have a little gymnast on our hands! Smile

Sleepy I'm sorry to hear about the high BP again, please don't blame yourself though. As you said, you have done everything they've asked you to up to this point and I can't imagine it'd be too easy to lose too much weight at this point in your pregnancy?! Really hope giving the tablets another go this week works out for you, fx! Smile

Blackandwhitecat3 · 05/08/2015 14:30

A rainy day here on holiday, so catching up. I think I've felt some flutters the last few days, mostly a double flick movement Smile.

I'm going to try to bf because it's natural, free and sounds less hassle for night feeds. I can't believe some people think it's disgusting! However, so many of my friends have had trouble with latching, tongue-tie, mastitis etc. etc. I know it's not easy and although I'm going to give it a good go, I won't beat myself up if we don't manage it. I quite like the sound of having to eat plenty of cake to keep the calories up for bf!

I imagine once I go back to work, I'll need to combifeed? Even if I can find somewhere at work to express, doesn't the milk need to be stored in the fridge? And at nursery will they feed with milk I've expressed the day before?

Think I need to get a new coat soon, can't do it up any more...

Sleepy sorry to hear about your bp. Did you ask about monitoring at home? You say you've not lost any weight, have you been trying to? Can't imagine trying to lose weight when I need those carbs to stave off nausea.

Pug work stuff sounds like something you really don't need. Hope it gets sorted.

Nightfall1983 · 05/08/2015 15:38

Hey, just wanted to report back that my 16 week scan went well. The consultant basically checked all the things they go through at the 20 week scan (I'll still be having one of those) and looked for Down's Syndrome soft markers (we know baby has DS but want to know about any additional "problems"). Everything is looking good, growing appropriately, all internal organs looking good so far - have a detailed heart scan next week but initial views of the heart look good. Am very happy :)

lutrinae · 05/08/2015 16:02

Blackandwhite I went back to work whenDS was 9 months and pumped for about a month at work. I stored it in the fridge at work (inside a bottle cool bag so no one would be weirdly offended by there being breast milk in the fridge). Then commuted 1.5 hours with it, stored it in fridge at home and gave it to the childminder the next day.

I got kind of fed up of doing it, as I had to travel across a large building and sit in a locked room in HR (next to the interview room!) which took ages, so after a month or two I switched to formula (with breast at home) until he was one.

I'm glad I tried it but the formula was fine too. And we are still bf-ing at 28 months!

loveulotslikejellytots · 05/08/2015 16:49

Glad to hear it all went well Nightfall! It's so lovely seeing them on that screen. I was in a bit of a daze at our 12 week one, I'll try and pay attention a bit more at the 20 week one!

impatientlywaiting · 05/08/2015 16:58

Black and White that was pretty much my view last time, I'll give it a go and see how it is. I knew if loads of people who had struggled so presumed I would too. I was actually surprised by how I got on with it, DS seemed to have a good latch from the start and I think that is the biggest factor.

Breastmilk can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days and frozen for longer than that. When I went back to work we combi fed as I found expressing to be a bit of a hassle, but did express and store in the fridge in the early days when DH would do the late night feed meaning I could head to bed about 7pm and get a few good hours in before bfing overnight.

impatientlywaiting · 05/08/2015 17:00

Glad things went well today Nightfall.

Brooke113 · 05/08/2015 17:01

Had my 16wk check up yesterday, apparently baby is extremely low, by my knicker line, which is why I'm still getting low cramps. I've had a Google and he could stay that low the whole way through if my stomach muscles are shot :(

brickiemum2 · 05/08/2015 17:28

sleepy don't blame yourself or your weight....that just a possible factor. My bmi is in the normal range and I'm wearing size 10 maternity and it's still happening to me.
Scan went well Grin Baby looking good and active, placenta looking perfect with no sign of additional bleeding to come, though it can't be discounted. Bp measuring 142/84 so they started wondering if it was creeping up but I think it was just because I was in hospital. I'm going to practice nurse at gp to have it checked from now on. Got 20 week scan in 2 weeks time and then consultant the week after.
Still undecided what to do about work...
Scenario 1.. go back with a fit note stating that I basically can't do 90% of my work and end up with all the bitches that work there being even more awful to me. May end upstill over doing it and panicking that Iwill out the baby at risk. Positives of that...still get paid and contact will roll over to a new 6 month one guaranteeing me income until maternity allowance kicks in.
Scenario 2....get signed off completely. Worst case with that is that they decide to not renew my contract and In our of a job. If I do keep my contract I'll be on half pay when off. Positives of that....no stress that I'm putting the pregnancy at risk or being forced into things that I'm uncomfortable with.
Decisions decisions.

SleepyDragon · 05/08/2015 17:44

Yay Lorks!! Is you EDD 14 Zjsn too then? We'd be mega Twinnies if you were lol!

Teenie & B&W I've cut down on a lot of stuff but haven't been trying too hard as I figured there wasn't much point. I've not had any cravings or eaten for two so thought that may help

LoveULots I was exactly the same and that's my goal too... Pay more attention lol!

Brickie thanks for the reassurances it's nice to know it's not all about weight although it is horrid for you too!

With work, would it be worthwhile going in and braving the bitches do you get the new contract then you could go off sick again if too much? X

spydie · 05/08/2015 18:10

Yokyil my UTI symptoms were burning when weeing, and constant urge to wee but not actually needing to. I've had loads of them over the years and I knew the moment I woke up that I had one. Left it 48 hours thinking flushing it through would work but ended up with burning in my belly and a course of antibiotics from the GP!

Teeenie ah snap! Was amazing wasn't it!? Mine was kicking away too! It was sleeping face down at the 12 week scan, and then once we'd woken it up started kicking like mad Blush

I've also been feeling some tiny flutters occasionally. Only when I'm led quietly in bed and in the same spot right at the top right of my womb. Have an anterior placenta so hasn't expected to feel anything but maybe that's why I'm only feeling them right at the top. Bump pic attached, 15+4, hardly a bump at all so maybe that's why I'm feeling something! Getting paranoid now as everyone is like, 'really, your pregnant!?' Excuse the cats bed in the background!!!

Pugmumlondon · 05/08/2015 18:18

Hi all. Glad appointments went well for those who have had them.

Mine isn't until 25th! But then 20 week scan is the 4th sept. Woo!

An update on the HR situation, Hi my love. So sorry I missed your calls. Have had an awful few days at work.

Basically because of some idiot in HR messing up I have had a nightmare. They misinterpreted the 'the 11 weeks before Ewc' as 'after' Spent last night at my mums going through everything - contacts, law, policy and then composing a letter to my boss to put my interpretation in writing.

Have had a very long day - been in work since half 7. But - my boss showed me an email before I left to say that my interpretation was right and that I am entitled to mat pay and leave, that my contract would need to be extended to enable me to do that. Then it's the discussion about whether I come back - which I want to. But the bottom line is that this HR person royally screwed up. Literally have not slept for two days have been so anxious and worried about it all. Freaking out that I will lose my job and I won't be able to afford not to work after the baby and all sorts.

Anyway! Hopefully now have a resolution, but will feel much happier I think tomorrow once it's confirmed then what we are doing about a maternity cover and then at least I know what their intentions are formally.

Pugmumlondon · 05/08/2015 18:19

Whoops part pasted a text. Ignore that part but you get the gist!

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 05/08/2015 18:31

So glad things are finally getting sorted for you pug! Such a stressful issue to deal with when there is enough going on already!

Spydie I bet it won't be long before baby has a growth spurt and you can't hide the bump. Mine is growing but still very much at the flabby stage! I want to pop soon!

Lookingforadvice123 · 05/08/2015 18:32

spydie don't worry some people still say that to me and I'm 18+4! They must've thought I was already fat before...I was little like you though before I got pg Hmm so where I could see a little bump others just thought it was how my stomach would look. I'm now fat round the hips though to even it out, lucky me!

AlohaMama · 05/08/2015 18:39

Thats great news pug, glad you've managed to get it sorted and can now hopefully relax a bit!

Glad to hear brickie that your bleeding has settled down. That must be a relief.

Nothing to report here. Staying at PIL right now which means I get occasional afternoon naps, and don't have to cook. On the downside DS is taking longer to settle at night but not too bad.

I have definite and growing bump but am concerned thighs are growing at a similar rate!!! Crappy bump PIC at 17+4

brickie so pleased to hear things went well today.

pug so glad it got sorted for you, what a monumental cock up from that HR wally. If only they knew the stress they'd caused!
