Hiya - just thought an alternative place for those of us on our 2nd or more pregnancies might be a good idea. I just found out and already it's very different than the first time!

I'm on #2, EDD 25/3/16, one DS 2yrs and 2 months.

It is last week to see the Head due to holidays!! I think they expect me to be back in Sept but no-one has asked. I can take the full year legally. I doubt anyone would expect me to be pregnant due to a history of infertility/ICSI etc needed!

I am unsure legally how much notice I need to give before return.

rdr15 · 19/07/2015 17:43

In my work place u need to tell them before 25 weeks I don't know if there is a legal minimum or whether it's just individual company policy. Sorry not helpful!

rdr15 · 19/07/2015 17:45

Not sure I've understand your meaning. Do you mean notice of your rtw from mat leave or notice of your pregnancy? It's 25 weeks for notice of pregnancy in my workplace and I think it's 8 weeks notice for rtw date but again that is probably individual company policy.

Raeside · 19/07/2015 17:55

Rooibus - can you go to, say, the fetal medical centre and have an early scan? I think we will def do that and will probably go on to do the Harmony test too.

Yes I think part of it for me is I can't go through another 13 months of trying - it's too much and I'm too old!

Today have kept v busy going to the Wetlands Centre and then park with dog and then painted the whole front fence. Only partly successful in diverting my attention!!

Isn't 15 weeks before you're due you have to legally tell them?

RooibosTeaAgain · 19/07/2015 19:08

Sorry I meant to tell them when I plan to return from my current maternity leave ( due to loss I qualified for it). I told them earlier this year I would not be back before Sept but I do not know now if I should return in Sept as I would need a good 12 week scan and a clear CVS/Harmony ( or both).
8 weeks - gosh that would mean I would return after 20 weeks. Not ideal. Would like to return at 14 weeks I guess if had a choice - or at end of mat leave if bad news with this pregnancy.

I will be under Fetal Medicine as have been for both pregnancies but they do not offer early reassurance scans ( always gone private for them - FMC etc). Unless I was bleeding or risk of ectopic that is and hope that is not the case.

On a lighter note - does anyone have any cravings? ( trying to convince myself my current craving is linked to Bfp as I hate fish normally!!)

MayFlowers16 · 19/07/2015 19:51

rdr I was also separated from dd as soon as she was born. She spent the first 12 hours in the SCUBU so we missed out on all those precious moments. I didn't get to feed her properly either until then and I always felt like my milk supply was playing catch up after that.

Rooibos no cravings as such, just major food aversions going on here. I have gone off nearly everything except crisps. pasta and mashed potato. Hmm

Fugghet sorry for getting you name wrong earlier Blush

rdr15 · 19/07/2015 19:53

I see your dilemma Rooibos not sure of any helpful advice I can give. Could you tell them you want to go back after October half term? That means you will know in September the outcome of your scan (fingers crossed for u) but could give them 4 weeks notice should you wish to use your full years mat leave.
Cravings mostly just anything unhealthy I can get my hands on! And walkers picked onion crisps. Cheese. Milkshakes.

SunnyL · 19/07/2015 20:26

I had very little skin to skin immediately after birth too as they had to take me up to theatre to extract the placenta. To be fair I was so tired after my 65hr labour I really wasn't in any fit state for cuddling something so precious. Instead DH had a lovely time sitting with her watching Top Gear Smile

Raeside · 19/07/2015 20:36

I had a lovely time immediately after DS1 was born but by the time he was 24hrs old things had gone properly to shit and he was rushed to NICU where he stayed for ten days with operations, life support and other not-gun stuff.

Everyone has their own crappy bits of the whole process, I reckon, but if you're lucky enough to get your baby home and safe then that's a win.

*not-fun stuff. Obviously. We are not a pro-gun family. Hmm

Hey, can I join? I am due no 2 around 4th feb, but scan this Thursday will be our 12 week.. We had an early scan at 6+5.. Our dd1 is 2.5 and is with a childminder who she loves.. She'll be going to nursery from sept, though.. I'm full time at work and will be for as long as I can waddle. So far this preg has been much worse than last.. Nausea and time off work.. Have been on various drugs which has been pretty tough.. But have same lovely midwife as before which is great..

ThursdayLast · 19/07/2015 20:46

Craving salt and carbs. Then some more salt. With more carbs. And repeat.

rdr15 · 19/07/2015 21:14

Hi surferchic :) sympathise re nausea I'm on my 3rd week off work for it. It's interesting how many of us are saying that it's worse with these subsequent pregnancies.
Just a thought it's a leap year next year. Wonder if we will have any February 29th babies?! Grin

IrritatedPartyOf1 · 19/07/2015 21:29

hi ladies,
can I join too? I'm 7 weeks on dc3 edd 05/03/16
ds1 is 5 and ds2 is 3.
I'm finding it hard to follow the general thread as there is lots of people on it and it moves very fast.

RooibosTeaAgain · 19/07/2015 23:04

May - oh dear, hope things improve from your beige diet.
Thursday - ah!
rd - am liking the sound of pickled onion crisps from your cravings!! Yes, half-term is sounding a good option ( enough time to get over a 12 week loss I hope but being off the remainder of first trimester).

SunnyL · 20/07/2015 07:44

Bah - another faint line. I bought another test last night but if you go to asda after 6pm the shelves are rather bare so could not get the digital clearblue one. May have to spend a bit more dosh today because I want it to categorically state I am up duff.

ThursdayLast · 20/07/2015 07:51

Hello Surfer and irritated

sunny have you missed a period yet? Tis definitely worth shelling out on frer

Indomitable · 20/07/2015 08:07

Morning, can I join you?

I'm 4+3 with #2, EDD is almost 5 years to the day since DS. (And is the exact same EDD as DS had)

No solid symptoms yet. Which I should be grateful for but am starting to have that familiar feeling that I've imagined the whole thing!

Raeside · 20/07/2015 08:28

Welcoming welcome to the new people......lots of us in no-mans land of positive tests (faint or otherwise) but no real symptoms. Gah!

Sunny - am trying to NOT go buy a stack more tests so thus will definitely do so...! The ICs are still faint though I suppose the line is appearing a bit faster. It's almost like I feel 'if this is go, then go, don't f*k about. If it's not then don't f*k about either'. Ahem.

OP posts:
RooibosTeaAgain · 20/07/2015 08:31

Hi Indomitable - I am about the same stage as you and apart from blue veins that seem to come and go have no symptoms either.

Sunny hope a digital is helpful today.

TeddyRuxpinsSmile · 20/07/2015 10:37

Hi All,
Can I join you please? I have a 14 month old little girl, and got a (ahem few) BFP yesterday (faint but there...although clearblue contradicted all the others bah!). Last month I sadly had an early mc at around 4 weeks so I'm not sure about due date. Although I'm guessing it's around 2 days until my period would have come, given the test results, so late March sounds likely :)
Am trying very hard to not get too excited and to not be too pessimistic- so realistic optimism sounds great Smile hello everyone.

rdr15 · 20/07/2015 10:37

Hi irritated and indomitable :)
Thursday sowing my ignorance here but what is frer?
Rooibos tbh I could probably eat a while pile of pickled onions just on there own but that would just be weird :p

ThursdayLast · 20/07/2015 10:48

I think it's first response early something rdr I'm not sure! I wasn't on the conception thread long enough to fully pick up the lingo Grin it's basically a digi one so there's no need for squinting and interpretation!

LastOneDancing · 20/07/2015 10:58

Morning!

Can I join please? Im nodding in agreement at so many posts on here already. Plus second time round it all feels a bit different and this thread seems calmer than the other antenatal threads.

EDD 26 March - already have one gorgeous 'spirited' 15mo DS. He was born by EMCS after a long first stage labour and failure to progress which left me a bit traumatised I think, but at the minute I'm still edging toward trying VBAC.

This baby was planned and it took a very long 6m to get pregnant but now I'm thinking WTF am I going to do with two?! Shock

I have virtually no symptoms either except grinding afternoon tiredness and very occasional nausea. Last time my boobs were agony so it's made the irrational part of me a bit concerned but I refuse to keep POAS!

Im looking forward to sharing the baby roller coaster with you all!
