Hiya - just thought an alternative place for those of us on our 2nd or more pregnancies might be a good idea. I just found out and already it's very different than the first time!

I'm on #2, EDD 25/3/16, one DS 2yrs and 2 months.

Ta all.
Never realised how much I do normally. Been so bored. Smile So wishing for a glass of wine. I'm guessing I'll have to deal with a glass of something else.

Anyway how is everyone else?

Fugghetaboutit · 18/07/2015 21:45

I had my scan already as I'm 16 weeks today, it was lovely to have my ds there watching too!

Is everyone finding out what they're having? I was really keen on finding out at birth but now I really can't wait!

mayaknew · 18/07/2015 21:51

Yes we are finding out . My 20 week scan won't be til around September . Didn't find out with dd , did with ds but Didn't tell anyone . This time I think we will just find out and tell .

I'm just looking forward to getting rid of the sickness . And enjoying food . I haven't enjoyed a single thing I've put in my mouth for the last two months .

ThursdayLast · 18/07/2015 22:02

I'm still so early my MW hasn't called back to make a booking appointment yet, no idea when I'm likely to have a scan.

We didn't find out the sex with DS, I'd prefer not to again this time too Smile I like the surprise!

I currently only don't feel sick when I'm asleep or eating salty, crunchy carbs.

hufflebottom · 18/07/2015 22:06

Yucky sickness. Seems to worse the second time.
ThursdayLast surprises are good.

MrsSimkins · 18/07/2015 22:16

Hi all,
I have a 2 year old dd and have an estimated due date of 15/2/16.
I had a scan at 7 weeks due to having cramping and a little blood. It was so reassuring after having a missed miscarriage last year at my 12 week scan. My midwife has been great too and has told a little white lie about me being on holiday to ensure I got my 12 week scan through nice and early. Bless her!

I'm also terrified of labour after a pretty traumatic time last time but also kind feel I have a score to settle with labour IYKWIM?!

hufflebottom · 18/07/2015 22:34

Awww Mrs
Have everything crossed

RooibosTeaAgain · 19/07/2015 08:13

Hi, may I join?
Am 4+2 and have a 3yr old. Very scared of a mc but was looking for a friendly thread as had a stillbirth at 31wks (2nd child) and never joined a thread/bus/posted so wanted to start something positive!

Raeside · 19/07/2015 08:56

Of course, welcome Rooibus! I'm also 4+2 and wake up every day convinced I'm not pregnant....I have a few internet cheapie tests and am peeing on them first thing in the morning but the line isn't getting darker!

Hi Rooibos I reckon this thread provides realistic optimism Grin

I'm sorry for your loss Thanks

rdr15 · 19/07/2015 09:03

Thursday I didn't find out with DD either so looking forward to the surprise again this time!
Raeside I keep wanting to but more sticks to pre have to keep telling my self it's a waste of money I know I'm pregnant because of the evil sickness!
Rooibos sorry to hear of your stillbirth. I seem to be more scared this time of a mc or of having no heartbeat at the scan. Fingers crossed everything goes well for u.

ThursdayLast · 19/07/2015 10:12

Help, I'm not even 6 weeks yet and I feel so grim.

Fugghetaboutit · 19/07/2015 10:25

Eurgh you poor thing. It's so hard in the early stages and you can't even tell people!

How often are you eating? I literally had to nibble on something every 20 mins or I felt terrible. Breadsticks, crackers, slice of Apple. Drink plenty. A teaspoon of Apple cider vinegar in hot water really helped.

rdr15 · 19/07/2015 10:42

Thursday it's horrid isn't it. Despite feeling so sick like fugg I have to constantly be nibbling on even though it sometimes comes back up (eww) it's definitely harder when you've got other children to run around after as well! Keep drinking fluids as well and just be gentle on yourself.

ThursdayLast · 19/07/2015 11:07

Thanks Fugg and rdr. I'll be alright, I can keep food down ok and am managing to keep a relatively healthy diet up I'm just feeling a bit sorry for myself!
I appreciate the sympathy though Smile

Fugghetaboutit · 19/07/2015 11:56

I'm having a very rare lie down in bed, watching Netflix while H has taken ds out to the park for a couple of hours :) pure bliss.

Is anyone off on holiday this year? We decided to book our last holiday as a family of three in September as a treat for ds. Looks like my idea of hell - all inclusive resort with splash pools and kids disco and playgrounds - but ds will bloody love it. Beach looks good though!

hufflebottom · 19/07/2015 12:36

I'm off to visit family. (Joys)
Love the summer hols, spending time with dd but will be a knackering one

Raeside · 19/07/2015 13:40

We have been to Australia (where I'm from) and Italy already so no further holidays planned although if this pregnancy sticks will probably head back to Oz again around November.

I am not an anxious person at all but I keep prodding my boobs like a crazy lady (!!) as this time around I'm seemingly quite nervous of it all going wrong. I just peed on a FRER after 5hrs of mammoth wee holding as I am just not feeling upduff.

Although obviously at 4+2 that's not unusual I can't shrug off the feeling something isn't right. I think that's probably to do with fact I'm 3yrs older now (just turned 41) and it took 13 months of trying this time around, whereas first time we didn't really try at all!

Anyway the FRER came up positive but not as dark as the first FRER I did on Friday. That's not good, huh.

Bloody pregnancy. V bad for the brain...

OP posts:
hufflebottom · 19/07/2015 14:18

Glad I'm not the only one feeling anxious.
Bed rest sucks, all I've done is googled (bloody Google) things and now not sure if I'm imaging things after yesterdays escapade. Think I've scared myself silly.

Roll on tomorrow.

SunnyL · 19/07/2015 14:21

Rae I'm feeling similar. Think I may buy another test to check. It wasn't the strongest of lines when I tested on Friday and currently I'm symptom free. Nada nothing. Last time I knew I was pregnant because i uttered the immortal words to DH 'touch my boobs and I'll punch you in the face'

hufflebottom · 19/07/2015 14:28
Grin Brilliant Sunny
MayFlowers16 · 19/07/2015 15:07

Hi, I've just read through this thread and would love to join you Smile

I'm 12 weeks today, edd 31st Jan, although my scan is not for another 8 days. I had an early miscarriage in March so have been a little more wary this time around. I'm also worrying more about the 12 week screening and anomaly scan this time.

I have one dd already who is is 2.8. Like Fuggle we're also planning to enrol her at nursery (part time) sometime in the autumn, so hopefully she'll be fully settled in before the new baby arrives.

I've been finding it harder this time - nausea and tiredness are worse and lasting longer, maybe because there's a toddler to look after too, although dh is a great help. Oh, and I'm also 3 years older of course!

Maya I may also be consultant led. Despite being told at my booking in appointment that I was 'low risk', I have had consultant's appointment arrive in the post, with no explanation as to why. I'm hoping it's just because of my age (late 30s) and nothing else. Dd was over 9lb though so I'm bracing myself already!

MrsSimkins I can relate completely to your comments about having a score to settle with your labour. My experience was quite traumatic and I'm hoping that a positive experience this time will have a healing effect on those memories.
I feel a bit like that about other aspects too, there are so many things I plan to do differently this time around. Does anybody else feel this way?

Re holidays: We've already been on holiday when I was 8 weeks, which wasn't the greatest of timings as I was feeling quite poorly that week.

Re gender: I think we will find out this time. We didn't with dd and, while the surprise was nice, it's just more practical to know the second time around. and if it's a boy I have the perfect excuse to buy more clothes

Phew, sorry that was so long!

rdr15 · 19/07/2015 16:59

mayflowers Hello :) can sympathise with finding it harder my DD is 1 and im so exhausted running around after her all the time and I think the nausea is definitly worse.
Can also relate to being more worried about the scan I'm terrified that there isn't going to be a heart beat but I don't know why still have 3 weeks to wait for my scan as well.
There are a few things I think I will do differently such as insisting on skin to skin time afterwards I had to be taken to surgery post labour and didn't really good my daughter until 5 hours after delivery and I've always felt aggrieved at missing those first few hours.
I understand the practically of finding out the sex as if it's a boy we will need to get a whole new baby wardrobe however as this will be by last baby I I think im going to be strict and leave it as a surprise!

RooibosTeaAgain · 19/07/2015 17:11

Thursday realistic optimism right now sounds perfect!

Raeside - am addicted to testing also ( but ran out of FRER and no point doing another CB Digital, so IC it is). And the trying for longer and age thing for me is definitely part of my concern ( and age being a big issue in why had a 3rd trimester loss).

Now have a dilemma - am currently on maternity leave ( due to stillbirth) and was planning on returning in Sept ( can guess my job Grin) but will not have had a 12 week scan and worried in case up the baby has the same issues. Need to declare this week as well. No idea what to say/do. And 8 weeks til I have a scan.

rdr15 · 19/07/2015 17:15

Rooibos why do you have declare this week?
