Thanks looking it's nice to know other people are not exercising as much! I really struggle with my body image after having an eating disorder at 17 then went up to size 20 before slimmimg down to size 8-10 and getting fit!! Struggling with tight waistbands and everyone looking and commenting on my tummy!

Lookingforadvice123 · 20/07/2015 21:56

Bless you I know the feeling. I've never had a full blown eating disorder but I've had weight issues since I was about 17/18 and have finally been happy with my weight for the last couple of years, so have not been accepting the weight gain very well! Just remember it's only temporary, once baby's here you'll be able to get back into your routine with confidence xx

fourlegstwolegs · 20/07/2015 21:57

Harmony tests back - I have a 1/100 chance of baby with Turner Syndrome. That's very very bad. I'm really upset. Only way to be sure is an amnio or cvs. This is just horrible and I am so upset :(

lilyb84 · 20/07/2015 22:14

Oh fourlegs so sorry to hear that, what a horrible shock for you. I'm afraid I don't know much about Harmony and its accuracy, or indeed about Turners, but thinking of you and a risk is still just a risk - I hope the further tests will bring better news Flowers I know there's a whole board dedicated to antenatal tests, you might find some more support and reassurance there?

Big hugs x

mrsfazruns · 20/07/2015 22:21

Oh fourlegs so sorry to hear that!! I too havnt heard of turners syndrome!! Try to focus on the 99/100 chance that baby will be fine untill you can have further tests! Sending hugs

firsttimenewbie · 20/07/2015 23:53

Really feel for you fourlegs. I know it's easier said than done but do try and focus on the 99/100 chance the baby is perfectly fine. As I have heard someone on here say before if you were told you had 99/100 chance of something great happening you would be chuffed. Also I have heard Turner syndrome often isn't very severe at all. Some effects on a girls height and fertility but apart from that people with the syndrome can lead very normal, happy and healthy lives. But of course I completely understand you concern and worry. Will be thinking of you x

coffeenut · 21/07/2015 04:23

fourlegs I'm so sorry, I know you must be feeling really upset Sad Like the others have said, there is 99/100 chance your baby doesn't have Turners. I'm sorry you have to have invasive testing to find out though.

mrsfaz I really don't think men can understand what it's like to have something growing inside of you, squishing your insides about and taking so many of your essential nutrients. I have to laugh personally at even the idea of running. My idea of exercise at the moment is looking after my kids.

canesten cream is fine btw. I've had mixed opinions from Gps and pharmacists about whether the pessary is safe, and likewise the applicator for the cream (some have said don't use it, some have said it's fine to use, some have said be very careful how you use it). Might be a good idea to see your doctor to get his/her opinion.

frozenfairy123 · 21/07/2015 06:37

Ah four legs I really feel for u it must be a shock but have your amnio to find out for sure. When are u 16 weeks? 1-100 is still a big chance your baby will be fine. After all my worries and tests I have found lots of people who have had the amnio and it's been fine. We are all here for u. Hugs xxx

mrschatty · 21/07/2015 07:59

Oh fourlegs sorry to hear this news will you test further

fourlegstwolegs · 21/07/2015 08:34

Yes I will - but have to wait 4 weeks till I can have the amnio (which in itself is a concern). I have my 12 week scan this morn. Going into it really sad and worried.

BeeMyBaby · 21/07/2015 08:38

fourlegs may I ask if you would act on the result if it turned out to be positive? As if not perhaps just waiting for the anomaly scan findings would be less risky?

frozenfairy123 · 21/07/2015 08:47

U can have the cvs now? Before I had a high risk result I would always say that I wouldn't risk the invasive tests but honestly when it happened to me I decided I needed to know and then I could make a decision or be prepared. They should offer u genetic counseling. Ask for advice xx

Oysterbabe · 21/07/2015 08:57

How stressful fourlegs Sad Thanks
I thought harmony could tell you these things for sure?

fourlegstwolegs · 21/07/2015 09:15

Yes I'm afraid I couldn't continue if I knew the baby had this particular chromosomal condition. It makes me feel sick/guilty just typing that but I just can't do it and neither can my OH. On the other hand I want to minimise the risk to what might (hopefully!) be a healthy baby so the amnio is the safest option. I don't yet want to think about what might happen if the worst is confirmed.

fourlegstwolegs · 21/07/2015 09:17

Oh Oyster I know, I thought Harmony was definitive too, but it only gives odds, albeit more accurate ones. I got less than 1-10,000 for all the other things (Downs etc) but not this one, which is exclusive to girls. So at least I know the gender. Bittersweet....

kep1979 · 21/07/2015 09:38

Oh fourlegs so sorry you are having to go through this Flowers. Would you not have CVS instead of waiting for amnio? From what I've read the risks are pretty similar if carried out by experienced practitioner? Like everyone I am hoping it all turns out well for you.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 21/07/2015 09:48

Sorry to hear about this worry, fourlegs Flowers really hope you are in the 99%

Lookingforadvice123 · 21/07/2015 09:53

So sorry about your worrying news four legs, but focus on the 99/100 and remember it's only odds.
From what I've read Turners Syndrome is v v rare, more so than DS, risk is 1 in 2000 girls.
I don't think the usual NHS chromosomal screening even checks for it? Remember it's only an odds number they've given you it's not decided. I would speak to your doctor/midwife about the CVS as I don't think there's actually a higher risk with that than with the amnio, it's only that the odds of miscarriage are higher before 16 weeks anyway so there are more reported instances than with the amnio. At least you'll know you have options other than waiting for 16 weeks.

tinyme135 · 21/07/2015 09:58

I'm so sorry fourlegs sending out as many hugs as you want. Try and keep your chin up and think of the positive side of it.

melonface · 21/07/2015 10:02

fourlegs I'm a sorry to hear of your worrying news

MiniTickle · 21/07/2015 10:11

Fourlegs, my thoughts are with you! Keep your chin up, odds are just that! Odds! Stay positive! Millions of hugs to you! Flowers xxx

fourlegstwolegs · 21/07/2015 10:17

I've been in for the 12 week scan twice already this morning and they've sent me out to drink tea as they can't get a clear picture. I just want to cry! I'm now drinking coke at 1015 in the morning (yuk). Third time lucky I hope. And hopefully no markers for Turners. They can sometimes see things at this stage.
Looking you are right. NHS screening doesn't look for this. So I would not be worrying if I hadn't had Harmony....

Thank you everyone for your kind words....

SleepyDragon · 21/07/2015 10:25

Fourlegs fingers tightly crossed for you, so sorry to hear your worrying news.

How is everyone else doing?

We got adventurous last night and actually DTD for the first time since BFP (we've 'played' in other ways but not actual deed - apologies if TMI) it was lovely to be so intimate again but this morning i have a banging headache and feel awfully, horribly sick..... if i were religious i'd think i was being punished LOL

My DM went home yesterday after spending the weekend with us, she bought me some new dresses and leggings as all trousers and waistbands are evil and bought a couple of neutral babygrows as well.

I have to say i am very jealous of all these perfectly beautiful neat bumps you all have, you can 'tell' its a baby bump. Me, because i was fat anyway, i don't have a defined bump, you can't tell i'm pregnant, i just look fatter and more horrid than usual.

mrsfazruns · 21/07/2015 10:33

Oh sleepy must be something i the air .... Terrible headache here too!! Having an extra long lie in and don't want to get up! Hardly slept last night between feeling dizzy (how do you feel dizzy lying down in the dark) sick and uncomfortable!!!

I'm jealous of everyone's bumps too ..... I was a lovely size 10 at BFP but I still just appear to be "spreading" rather than getting a bump!!! Hate looking in the mirror at the moment!!

SleepyDragon · 21/07/2015 10:33

FourLegs i don't know much about Turners i must confess, but i've just been reading up on some of the symptoms and it sounds similar to what a friend of mine went through with her daughter.

J has always been short for her age (she comes from a tall family) and didn't really hit puberty, in fact she was 18 before they started worrying there were no periods. She went to the GP, underwent a series of tests and a previously undiagnosed genetic disorder was found to be the cause. J has been on tablets since (she is now 24) and has no issues or problems since and is slowly 'developing' into a woman and has a full time job as a Cancer Carer - she has no obvious disabilities etc

Like i say i can't remember whether it is/was Turners but i will try and find out, it just seems very similar to the symptom list and i thought it might give you an insight into the condition......
