kep Grin

Lily precisely. I think pregnancy makes other people do and say strange things.

I got my bump touched for the first time today. It was a friend, so I didn't really mind, but it made me realise how weird that would be if a colleague or MIL did it. I shall be on alert.

Fourlegs sometimes if I keep eating it keeps it at bay, other times eating makes me nauseous. My absolute fail safe is to go for a lie down (tricky at work...) - I don't feel sick when horizontal!

kep1979 · 20/07/2015 18:02

juniper i would have guessed boy - but a) i am guessing nd b) not sure i believe in skull theory. Here's my little she-Bean. She apparently has a girlie head! I need to find my scans from my boys - when i finally move into the new house i can dig them out - 9 days until we get the keys, 12 days until moving day Grin

That's a beautiful bump kep! I think I'm the same at 15 weeks. It's really started to get rounder and more bump like which is nice. I had a feel to see if I could find my uterus and think I can feel a pretty hard melon sized lump!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 20/07/2015 18:21

I think it's going to take me some time to get used to this new tight feeling of my bump!

TeenieDeenie · 20/07/2015 18:24

Fourlegs I'm still wearing my seabands as my nausea, although definitely not as bad as it was, is still lingering. Would agree with the other ladies that they help but don't cure. I also found that not letting myself get too hungry helped. Grazing throughout the day instead of having three main meals is also a good idea.

Interesting chat re skull theory. I like the fun aspect of it but I'm not a believer after watching my 12 week scan I have to say. Reason being, my babies skull took all kinds of shapes and sizes depending on the pressure the sonographer was using and also what way she was looking. So I can't imagine one image of the skull at 12 weeks can tell much.

Am thinking of booking a private gender scan when I'll be 16+3 and asking our two sets of parents to come along so we can all find out together. My dad hasn't been well recently and I know the mums would love it, seems like it would be a good, happy surprise for everyone. It does seem a little extravagant at £79 when the money could be put to better use but it means we wouldn't have to wait until 20 weeks, we get a midway check to make sure baby is ok and we can find out the gender early.

TeenieDeenie · 20/07/2015 18:50

B&W I'm looking forward to having a tight bump rather than just jelly like bloat ha ha! Smile

mrsfazruns · 20/07/2015 19:09

On subject of "I knew you were" ... I had a friend that IVE not spoken to in 3 years text me in March to ask me if I was pregnant (no one knew we were trying) and when I said no chance she replied that I will be soon ... And I'd find out it may! She wasn't far off as got my BFP the last day in April!! Weird!!

Having a "feeling sorry for myself" day! Just tried to go for a run and it just felt all wrong!! Felt clunky and heavy and like my insides were going to fall out .... So didn't even make half a mile and came home and DH decides to give me this "you gotta push through it and have some determination" speech that made me want to punch him!! I'd love to see his determination to go out when all you want to do is sleep!

lovelylara · 20/07/2015 19:43

Definitely have a bump now @ 16 weeks this Wednesday and have reluctantly put away my lovely white jeans until next summer!

Due early Jan and I plan to start maternity leave on my due date but to finish work in Nov and take my annual leave first

Pugmumlondon · 20/07/2015 19:45

Hi all, sorry for absence. Have been keeping up and reading but started feeling v anxious about mmc and worrying constantly. But! Scan on sat and all was fine! Edd still spot on for 25/01. NT was 1.9 which I think is still pretty far below the threshold? Bloods back in a week or so. Not hugely worried given age and general health.

Had booking appt today and all fine. Will have shared care because of period history but all fine to be in the birthing centre.

Have started running again (hoorah!) and also made first maternity clothes purchases. I'm down to x3 pairs of jeans that still fit. They were my 'fat' jeans.

Any ideas on where to look for long (34/36) inch leg jeans welcome. Asos were dreadful but now have the comfiest over the bump velvet leggings - amazing!

Have small bump - although if you didn't know me (normally v flat) you'd probably just think I was porky!

20 week scan on 14th sept post hol. Think that's everything! Now to tell my consultants at work....

Pugmumlondon · 20/07/2015 19:48

Ps. Mrsfaz - I spent most of my run conscious of my uterus and bladder being v well acquainted! Totally get you!

I am going at 36 weeks. Taking 12 months but mat leave for ten. The rest is banned annual leave!

Joey0805 · 20/07/2015 19:58

Pug - Topshop do maternity jeans in a 34" leg and for me the skinny jeans pair are nice and on the ankle. They have over the bump and under the bump ones; so far I got an under the bump pair for when my normal jeans won't fit any more!

Joey0805 · 20/07/2015 19:59

Think I'm going to start my mat leave on Jan 4th (due the 6th!) but be off over Xmas using annual leave. Given I'll only be takin 4-5 months I want it all to be with the baby.

Joey0805 · 20/07/2015 20:03

Oh and for those in London wanting to do NCT, worth booking now as apparently the popular ones are getting booked up!

And those near a John Lewis, we booked our 2 hour shopping session where they run through what we'll need, first sat appt they had was for end of Sep so get it booked soon or you'll end up doing it over Xmas shopping season, 8 months pregnant which will be utterly grim! Loads of you seem to have bought everything already though lol.

Ok, I've finished spamming you all for this evening!

Wynsey · 20/07/2015 20:04

2 more sleeps until the scan!!! Thank god it's not just me that worries and thinks what if there's nothin there!! Think positive thoughts!!! Smile

I had a meltdown on Saturday night because I couldn't decide what to have for dinner!! Hahahahaha I've just had no appetite and the thought of anything made me feel bla!! DH went to Asda to get me my favourite pizza and Non alcoholic kopparberg's!! Grin cheered me up!!

I really wish I could start buying stuff in the sales but can't bring myself to! Too early. Hmm
And we live in my MILs house so she still has loads of stuff left here. She's promised to get rid of loads of stuff but it's just getting time!!

Anyone looking for maternity clothes. I got work trousers and cream chinos in H&M on Friday!! Love them!!! Although - I'm a 12/14 and my work trousers are a size 18!!!! How'd that happen?!! Anyway I don't care!! They are so comfy.

Couldn't help laughing at your comment MrsFaz - that's the kinda thing my DH would say!! I've wanted to keep running but my boobs are that sore - no sports bra is helping!! Confused

Oysterbabe · 20/07/2015 20:05

I'm due on 30/01 and planning to work until 22/01. I'm taking 10 months off and want as long with the baby after birth as possible.

Oysterbabe · 20/07/2015 20:11

Oh and there were some proper chavs waiting for a scan at the antenatal clinic today. A couple of then nipped out for a fag while they were waiting Hmm

lilyb84 · 20/07/2015 20:15

Thanks for the reminder joey, can't afford NCT at London prices but keep forgetting to book onto the hospital's parenting classes - will do it first thing tomorrow!

mrsfazruns · 20/07/2015 20:19

I actually hate my DH right now!!

mrschatty · 20/07/2015 20:27

Oh mrsfaz my DH has been on the brunt of my anger regularly!!!
Lovely bump picture- I'm 14+1 and my bump seems to have dissipeared!! Wish it would pop!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 20/07/2015 20:29

I'm due 11 Jan, will work til Christmas holidays, then start mat leave at the beginning of term which should be about 5 Jan. Unless the bean decides it doesn't want to miss Christmas.

MrsFaz I would be so cross if my DH said that. Maybe you should show him that video of all pregnant woman's insides moving around - just so he can see how your intestines are now swinging on the front of your belly! I'd really love to go for a run, but don't quite have the courage yet, and also I fear I won't get into my sports bra and need to buy a new one.

Pugmumlondon · 20/07/2015 21:06

Just had huge row with dh. He has accused me of being irresponsible by running and that I'm putting the baby at risk. Wtf?!?! He just won't listen. He wants to wrap me in cotton wool for 9 months.

lutrinae · 20/07/2015 21:10

Lily in case it makes any difference, when I did NCT they let us pay in instalments.
My group was awesome and one in particular became a close friend. But I know people who also did that through going to baby groups Smile

mrsfazruns · 20/07/2015 21:17

Oh pug our DH 's should meet and agree somewhere in the middle!! My DH thinks I should still be going out "and smashing it like a beast" .... I used to train really hard 6 times a week and since week 7 just have not had energy to do anything and can't just "beast mode" it!! THEN after I get upset that I felt like I couldnt do it and said I'd go to the gym to swim instead he cause a MASSIVE argument and just turned into a horrible evil person!! Told him to sleep on the sofa and feel free to move out!!

Lookingforadvice123 · 20/07/2015 21:20

My due date is 2nd Jan (although I think my full 40 weeks will be up earlier as I measured ahead again at my 16 week scan) - does anyone know if they change your due date again at the 20 week scan? The 2nd Jan is a Saturday and my office is actually closed from Xmas eve until Monday 4th Jan so I'll be starting my mat leave on the 4th, unless the baby comes before in which case I think the rule is you start it on the day of birth? Either way I'm taking two weeks' annual leave before Christmas, finishing on 12th Dec, and having the full 9 months off plus 5 weeks annual leave, so plan on going back 7th November, almost 11 full months off. I'm going to apply to go back 4 days a week, really hope they let me.

I've posted this pic before but I just love showing the little fella off! I'm not sure I believe the skull theory as his skull looks very similar in shape to some of the pics that have been posted of girls?

Jan 2016 #6 ....bumps and blooming ahoy!
Lookingforadvice123 · 20/07/2015 21:26

Aw mrsfaz that sucks, tell your dh to do one! I used to train hard as well, did a lot of spin classes which id go all out at, but I haven't been to one since I was 8 weeks and tbh now I don't want to, I know it's supposed to be safe to carry on what you were doing before but it just didn't feel right and I'm already feeling so over protective of my little fella! So all I've been doing is swimming (once), a pregnancy exercise class which was Pilates style and actually really good, and a low intensity workout at the gym which dh's brother put together for me for the second trimester (he's a personal trainer), and I'm starting a pregnancy yoga class tomorrow. I don't think I'll be doing anything more hardcore until after baby comes, I do feel a bit weird about it as I did so much before, but right now it's just not right for me! So please do what feels right and listen to your body, and don't let your dh pressure you.
