Thinking of you baby

Hi to everyone else. Too tired for individual messages.

I'm miserable with sinusitis and exhaustion and general first trimester misery. I'm also huge! I think it's 90% bloating but I can feel my uterus has moved up out of my pelvis too. It's far too early, I really wanted to keep it quiet for another few weeks but I don't think I'll manage it unless I just brazen it out and ignore the massive belly sticking out! I didn't tell work colleagues until 19 weeks last time and even then I could have said nothing for another few weeks so I'm a bit surprised to be so big this time. I'm finished with the progesterone suppositories next week so maybe that will bring the bloating down.

Anyway, sorry for moaning over nothing, I'll make a "telling people" plan if my appointment next week goes okay.

MayFlowers16 · 08/07/2015 20:18

Evening everyone Smile

Great news Jelly

Thinking of you Baby Flowers

I'm 10 1/2 weeks and the nausea is starting to ease slightly. Trying not to let this worry me though as the same thing happened at around this time, when I was pregnant with dd. STILL no news of my scan though

It's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one who looks more like they're 6 months along! Mawsymoo apparently you do show a lot more quickly second time round (knackered stomach muscles and all that!)

Curlywurlies · 08/07/2015 20:26

Hi all, mostly lurking, enjoying following people's progress. 10 weeks today and like others feel very bloated. Thankfully no vomiting, just feel hungover every day. Only investment in clothes has been a new sports bra (I couldn't do my old one up!) which is amazing. Despite temptation I'm going to wait for the 12 week scan before any other shopping.

jellypi3 · 08/07/2015 20:31

No apology needed purdey :) I basked in your comments for a secondWink

Pogmella · 08/07/2015 20:45

How can you tell I your uterus has moved up? What does it feel like? X

Phoenix80 · 08/07/2015 20:54

Hello, not posted for a while but still reading Smile

Good news for those who've had scans and good luck for those who've got scans coming up.

I've got my scan appointment through today, finally. It's 22nd July (2weeks today) I can't wait to find out how far on I am and obviously that everything's ok.

Ba8y - fingers crossed for you Flowers

PaulineGrigio · 08/07/2015 21:09

Hi all,
I haven't posted in forever, I've just been lurking & puking!

I'm 11 weeks today, scan next Thursday ... Eeek. This is DC2 (fingers crossed all is ok!)

I had a call from my doc yesterday... I have a UTI, fun! So am on amoxicillin ... Not what I really wanted but apparently ok during pregnancy.

One of the things I'd forgotten about was the lowered irritation levels & therefore more rowing, as my tolerance for crap is infinitely lower than normal.

We are wisely in the middle of a two storey extension... No kitchen for 12 weeks, it's like camping at the moment! Lol.

Anyway too long a post for only the second on this thread.

Thinking of anyone going through stuff! Look after yourself.

Mawsymoo · 08/07/2015 21:20

pogmella if you lie flat on your back and feel in around your bellybutton you'll notice it's soft and squidgy. Then move your fingers down and keep pressing and you might feel the top of a harder mass just peeking out of your pelvis - that's your uterus. It will move up a bit more every week then. It was a good bit later before I felt it on my DS (I'm 11 weeks now and was surprised to feel it) so if it's your first I wouldn't be worried if you can't feel it.

StockingFullOfCoal · 08/07/2015 21:22

Well. Gel pessary for thrush. JUST EXPLODED IN MY EYE. Must have been squeezing too hard to get it into the applicator. My eye burns. As a result I am now crying for the 6th time today. Proper snotted all over my sister earlier. Tres embarrassing. And now I have to call the GP for another script Blush Confused

Today can fuck right off. Although I am now in bed, with my new king size quilt (ready for arrival of king size bed) and the decision to put my old duvet over the mattress was a good one. Its so soft.

Ah stocking you poor thing, I'm glad you're tucked up nice and comfy now and hopefully you have a good sleep.

mayflower I knew I wouldn't be as lucky this time and would get bigger quickly but I'm a little worried that I'm feeling under pressure to tell people before I'm ready. I was planning to tell family next weekend if the scan goes well, then friends over the next couple of weeks, and then the work crowd maybe at 14/15 weeks. Ah well, it's nothing to complain about. Maybe coming off the progesterone will help reduce the bloat next week.

Pogmella · 08/07/2015 21:33

Thanks Mawsy! Just remembered the sonographer told me my innards are back to front (well, she said retroverted uterus but that's what I heard...) so maybe it will be a bit later for me anyway.

Stocking I'm sorry but that's hilarious! Play dumb and pretend that's where you thought it should go Wink

MayFlowers16 · 08/07/2015 21:35

Best laid plans hey?! Unfortunately for me the warm weather + short sleeves = sickness bands on show have meant that far more people know than I had planned to tell at this stage. if anything I wanted to leave it longer this time around. I think the mc in March (although very early) has left me very wary.

StockingFullOfCoal · 08/07/2015 21:48

DSis "Thats a pretty dim thing to do, but at least its not Karvol again." I genuinely thought my eyeball was melting in my socket when I managed to squirt a whole capsule of Karvol into it about 3 years ago. I looked like a crack head for weeks.

I'm just derping my way through the week, until DDs are at their Dads, and then I am going to stay in bed all weekend with Netflix and cake.

OP posts:
Mawsymoo · 08/07/2015 22:20

Jeez I'd say the karvol stung like a mofo! Sounds like a nice weekend, I hope you're coping okay Flowers

I'm off to a hen night at the weekend I'm sure they'll all guess but I'll just brazen it out and hopefully nobody will have the nerve to ask!

NoMontagues · 08/07/2015 22:24

Ooh stocking poor you. Although the tears will probably help flush it out of your eye quicker

swimming yes it is bloody dear. But in Ireland we don't have nuchal screening as standard and to get it done privately is a few hundred euro. So I figure just go for the Harmony test and pay the extra.

However there seems to be a massive discrepancy between what different clinics charge. Last year (Jan 2014) I had the Harmony test done in one place and it cost €800. This year, just 18 months later, I'm getting it done in a different place and its €350!!

The test itself is the same, it goes to a lab in the US, so whatever mark-up the clinic charges is for the scan and the taking of your bloods. That's it.

So if you're considering it then make sure to shop around Smile

Pagerty · 08/07/2015 22:29

Just on my way to bed but hugs to those having a crap time of it right now x

I found this earlier, it's a first date scan for just £39 in locations all over the country. Unfortunately no good for me as the earliest available appointment in my area is after my NHS one. Anyway, it may be of use to someone here :)

IrisBlue15 · 08/07/2015 23:03

Hello all Smile

Aren't we all glowing, serene balls of health. When does that bit kick in? It's going to kick in right?...

So far everything my symptoms have been mild-ish and come in waves. But, today, the boobs are looking a bit post-op and scarily large and round. It's like being a teenager again (before you realised that gravity was a "thing"). I'll take that over gas any day.

Anybody else have symptoms they don't mind?

Mawsymoo · 09/07/2015 06:48

NoMontagues where are you getting it done for €350? My local clinic charges much more and there was a sign up when I was in for a scan that the price was increased at the moment due to the weak euro versus dollar. I had ruled it out as a result - should have shopped around.

Brummiegirl15 · 09/07/2015 07:16

Swimming we've talked about harmony due to my age (38) and history but we are going to wait and see what the nuchal scan says first and then make a decision - rather than spend £450/£500 straight off.

Mawsy I've got sinus problems too and I'm so exhausted I can barely function but I'm also so bloated now it's obvious that I'm pregnant.

The couple of colleagues who do know have said yep I definitely look pregnant although they did admit that did they only think that because they know?

Hope you are doing ok Purdie great news after your scan, and hope the eye is ok Stocking

Right, better get up!

Brummiegirl15 · 09/07/2015 07:18

Ooh and just tried feeling for for uterus and I could just feel the top of it peeking over my pelvis

NoMontagues · 09/07/2015 07:29

mawsy it's up at the Beacon- I still keep thinking they're going to charge something else, I can't believe the price compared to the Merrion Fetal Clinic which was €800.

I'm going there now at 9.30 so I'll report back Smile

Littleoakhorn · 09/07/2015 07:31

Ooh Brummie that's exciting!

Purdie yes, tis I!

Who was asking about when the glow arrives? Last time for me I felt rough until 13 weeks, then I had no symptoms and no proper bump until I was about 16 weeks, then after that I was a glowing superwoman for ten minutes before the hormones kicked in an I was a sobbing, grumpy, soppy mess until dd was 6 months old Grin

Mawsymoo · 09/07/2015 08:27

Thanks NoMontagues do let me know as if that's the case I might reconsider. Is it the IMFF place?

And good luck today!

Brummie I was awake most of the night with sinus pain - I've DS at the doctors tomorrow for vaccinations so I might ask about it.

Raaaaaah · 09/07/2015 09:53

Morning everyone.

Excellent news on the scan Purdie, sorry home life isn't rocking.

I bit the bullet and have a viability scan booked for tomorrow morning. You get a discount if you have the viability scan, harmony and nuchal. It works out as £400 all in. Still very expensive but I'm 37 , haven't got an NHS scan date yet and we are away for all bar a 4 day window of combined test window. Can you tell that I'm trying to justify it? I'll see how the viability scan goes tomorrow...

BananaRaces · 09/07/2015 09:55

Stocking I hope you had a lovely long sleep. I too am planning a "bed and cake" weekend. I was supposed to be going to visit my parents this weekend but I have cancelled (saw them last weekend anyway so they know I'm not avoiding them) in favour of pottering and sleeeeeeeeeeeep!! Getting out of bed this morning felt like an enormous mission and I am so nauseous I keep having to take the kitchen bin out before it's even half full, because of the smell!
