That's great news chops! Smile Hope they find the cause of your sickness soon and there's something they can do to help.

I'm hoping we'll get the results on Friday, but it might not be until the week after. I told one of my best friends about it yesterday, and after holding it together quite well all this time I cried all over her! Was good to talk about it though.

MissMrsMummy · 13/06/2015 12:36

chops sorry you're feeling so terrible Sad really hope it passes soon.

Are your risk figures from the 12 weeks scan and bloods? How long do you have to wait after the scan?

OP posts:
chopsface · 13/06/2015 14:39

missmrs I had the scan/bloods Tuesday and the results in the post Friday! Was a bit concerned as the nurse said they let you know in 2 days if you're high risk but up to 2 weeks for normal results!

ChandlersFarang · 13/06/2015 15:40

I got my blood test result today - am in hospital anyway so went and asked (am currently
on a drip for diahorrea/vom-induced dehydration - potentially food poisoning, not sure yet).

Anyway my risk is 1:990 which is obviously not a massive worry, it's still higher risk than I would really want it to be. I analysed all the numbers and everything was bang on normal except my free beta HCG which is 4 times higher than it should be! Yikes!! Metal was that your issue too? If that had been lower the risk would have been way more acceptable.

I'm thinking about it as rationally as I can: there seems to be a lot of non-scary reasons why HCG can be high (may explain why I've vommed every morning!). Have read a few reassuring posts where women recount the advice their specialists gave them in the same situation - that having seen the nasal bone and the nuchal fold measurements being normal things are likely fine.

Saying all that it is a bit daunting having something come back 4 times higher than it should be...!! Shock

Metalhead · 13/06/2015 18:58

chandler yes my hcg was stupidly high too, even worse than yours - 9 times normal! I've not really been able to get any satisfactory answers as to what could be causing it, but have read stories of people who had similar and everything was fine. The last sonographer I saw was also quite positive that the nasal bone and nuchal measurement were reassuring signs.

Anyway, I think your result is nothing to worry about, the cut off for being high risk 1:150 so your odds are way better than that. Hope you manage to sort out your dehydration/vomiting soon so you can go home.

Cheshirehello79 · 13/06/2015 19:41

Right I'm flabagarsted ! As I've have had bloods taken on my 8 weeks dating scan and 12 weeks app but not had any results . Whilst everyone is talking about results -should I be worried that I've not heard anything ? I'm going for my 16 weeks midwife app on the 25th am I going to have my results then ? I'm just worried now as I've started being sick but don't know what it is ?
@ chandlers hope the results are super good and we're here if you need to talk :-)

cantthinkofaname87 · 13/06/2015 19:51

Hope those of you who are feeling sick start feeling better soon! Mine seems to have passed and have a bit more energy - long may it last...

afloat - I've just messaged you to be added to the FB group. Not sure my messenger is working properly but this is the first time I've sent it from my computer rather than phone so hope it will make its way through to you! Thanks

ThreeBeanRap · 13/06/2015 20:31

cheshire I got all my blood test results (although didn't have the downs risk test) at my 16 week appointment. Imagine you should get yours then.

Cheshirehello79 · 13/06/2015 21:22

Thanks three phew! Doesn't take a lot with these pregnancy hormones to start driving yourself mental :-)

chopsface · 13/06/2015 21:29

Cheshire I got my downs results only in the post. I'm sure my other bloods will be at my midwife appointment.

Just vommed my gorgeous carrot and butternut squash soup :-( sigh

MissMrsMummy · 13/06/2015 21:45

chandlers sorry you're so unwell, hope you are soon better and home.

Hi everyone, I'm due 11th with my third. lurked a bit when we first found out but due date by lmp was 26th nov so waited for the scan to see which group to join. Scan has put us fully in the christmas baby pile so joining. I'm in Crewe, cheshire and with one to one midwives who are amazing, planning a homebirth which was the plan with my first two but only pulled it off with the second. Have two girls already, will be 20 months and nearly 4 when baby 3 arrives. deff finding out which flavour this time as oh needs at least 20 weeks to prepare for the possibility of living in a house of women :)

Cariad2014 · 14/06/2015 00:25

Chandlers - sorry you're so unwell. Wishing you a very speedy recovery.

My hcg levels were double what they ought to have been the first time they tested but quite a bit less than that the following day, so the levels definitely fluctuate. I'd try not to worry (I know, I know, I'm a good one to talk), your risks are very low.

WonkyDonkBonk · 14/06/2015 11:15

Welcome Sparklez good to have you aboard. Can i ask you about your home births as I am thinking about it; what did you fo with your older dc whilst giving birth? Did you have someone else there to look after them or did dh run back and forth?

Thanks for the well-wishes everyone!! They let me out earlier today which is good. Had to hide my morning sickness all the time I was there which was a struggle as if they'd seen me vomming they'd have never let me out! The language barrier between me and the nurses was such that they just wouldn't have understood any of my explanations that it's normal and I've been doing it for weeks...!! Got home and vommed up the first thing I ate which was as usual exactly the thing that made me feel better for the rest of the day - typical! Am blaming my mad HCG levels... Wink

Thanks Metal for the reassurance. 9 times is nuts too! I've also heard about the fluctuations - it's almost worth having the HCG retested to see if it was a random hour that day or something, before paying for the Harmony test, but assume you can't just keep doing that on the NHS. Besides I guess it could be the same or higher and then you've just wasted more time waiting and worrying..!! Fx you get your results soon anyway. Xxxxxx

cantthinkofaname87 · 14/06/2015 15:16

chandlers you poor thing! Glad to hear they have let you back home though, must be more comfortable!

missmrs - I'm 14+3 now. Had to go and buy a bump band for my jeans today as they are feeling a bit snug!

chopsface · 14/06/2015 17:21

I have no idea if my normal clothes fit any more as I've been off sick all week and living in my jogger bottoms or pj's! Might get a bit of a shock if I need to get dressed this week!

bakingdiva · 14/06/2015 18:11

Hi, anyone else got the sorest boobs ever - when they get cold, it feels like there is a flamethrower being applied to my nipples! (and then when they are not cold they are so ITCHY!!)

I got my combined test results 1 in 26,000 which I was really pleased about - although it only gave the Downs result - there was no other information....this seems different from what others have received?

Also, help on joining the FB group? tx.

chopsface · 14/06/2015 18:44

baking! That's exactly what I get! When my nipples are cold it's agony! Like they are on fire! Apart from that my boobs rarely hurt, just occasionaly in the night.

To join FB you need to pm afloat with your email address that you use for FB and she can send you an email add. Can't remember who else was admin.

Metalhead · 14/06/2015 20:27

Urgh, I've had a pretty bad day today, didn't sleep well last night so was tired all day, and been feeling really sick all evening. So far I've not really seen a big improvement in the second trimester either!

bakingdiva · 14/06/2015 21:53

Glad it's not just me Chops (although obviously not pleased that you are also in pain). It's not helped by my 'd'h claiming that, because we had IVF, he had the hard bit......aiming is hard apparently!!

I have a kitchen blow torch and have offered to show him what the easy bit feel like, but he declined.....it's still on the side in case he changes his mind! Another 6 months of this and I can't even have Wine to make it better.

bakingdiva · 14/06/2015 21:55

Oh, and do you reckon the boob thing will improve (like the sickness is supposed (!) to? Or is this it for the duration?

WonkyDonkBonk · 14/06/2015 22:07

I have a horrible feeling that the boob situation will not improve for about a year Sad To make matters worse I am usually quite small of boob so am not used to them sticking out so much. I keep knocking them when i go through doors.

Withalittlesparkle · 14/06/2015 22:23

Sorry ladies a couple of you have messaged me about joining the fb group, I'll try and get on a computer tomorrow to catch up

As for the boob situation, they're going to get heavier I'm afraid
