I second the recommendation to take floradix - I had to take the prescribed iron tablets last time and they gave me horrendous constipation so I'm hoping to avoid them this time.

chopsface · 15/08/2015 21:58

I've got another blood test on Wednesday to check my iron again after being on pills for a month. No idea if i'll be still on them after that. Keep forgetting to take the bloody things anyway.

Sharon my dh is the same. Whinging about trivial ailments when I feel like death lol!

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 15/08/2015 22:01

They truly are from another planet aren't they!

Metalhead · 17/08/2015 13:19

I'm 24 weeks today, whohoo! (Even though I obvious wouldn't want baby to be born any time soon due to the long term health implications, it seems like a big milestone to reach the mark where she'd be considered viable.)

DH and I are still stuk on names, we have a few we like but none are clear winners so far. I remember it taking us ages to decide with DD1 as well though, so not too worried yet.

Hope everyone is doing ok, are you feeling better now cheshire?

Cheshirehello79 · 17/08/2015 13:45

High five metal - I'm 24+4 today and must say feeling a bit better. Still quite pale though but getting there.

Managed get put and about yesterday first time since feeling poorly and felt better . Seeing mw Thursday so got lots to ask. I'll also be listening to beanster's heartbeat :-) this appointment

Managed to to new mums event yesterday at mamas and papas and they had some great offer on everything so Ladies! I've got my pram and car seat. At last decided to go for cybex Priam dessert khaki and cybex to sirona for car seat which can be used till when baby is 4 so saving some money there. But ... Only to realise when got home that the car seat bought is fixed in the car and will need car seat to get baby from hospital ouch ! So might borrow my sisters then .

Apart from that just plodding along and hope I get back to 100% as still off work took some annual leave.

Have you all started thinking of hospital bags yet and what to pack? Since baby shopping is complete ( she says - hope no more temptation ) I'm going to start looking into packing my bag soon.

Has anyone started their nurseries yet? I've got everything delivered now just need to paint and get things up.

Soon approaching 3rd trimester ... Only yesterday was fretting going for my 12 weeks scan thinking what if ...

blueskygreengrass · 17/08/2015 15:14

Hey, thanks for everyone's replies about bad cramps (and bad craps! - made me chuckle too Smile Trying to stay hydrated and have randomly eaten bananas in the middle of the night. Using a pillow to sleep with already and DH massaging my now veiny legs - lucky him!!!

How you doing Cheshire? Hope you get things checked out x

Any weird nesting behaviours going on? I literally couldn't sleep the other night for thinking about how to remove limescale on shower head. Ha!!!

blueskygreengrass · 17/08/2015 15:18

Ah, just seen your post Cheshire glad you're feeling better.

chops and sharon, I second that! Ha!!

23 weeks yesterday. Haven't thought about hospital bag yet, and nursery will need to wait until we move end of September. So much happening all at once!

Metalhead · 17/08/2015 15:24

You're very organised Cheshire, I don't think I packed my bag until about a month before my due date last time...

We're not doing a nursery this time. DD2 will be in our room for the first few months, then we she's outgrown the crib we'll put her cot into what is currently my office/guest bedroom. Once she sleeps through more or less reliably or I need to go back to work (whichever comes first!) we'll move DD1 into that room as well, and what is now DD1's room will become my new office/spare bedroom. At that point we'll have to do some redecorating, but that's not for another year at least!

blue I'm also using a pillow between my legs to sleep. Just saw that Lidl have a pregnancy/body pillow on offer this week for £8.99, I'll have to try and get one!

Cheshirehello79 · 17/08/2015 15:39

Blue you've made me chuckle with the lime scale agenda haha ... Must say couple days ago woke up thinking I've got a lovely picture frame and could hang my nieces photo up and 3 am in the morning I was in the storage boxes roaming around looking for the frame. Managed find and put it up only to decide next day that doesn't look ok so it back in storage boxes ... The things you hate to admit .....

chopsface · 17/08/2015 18:33

Glad you're feeling a little better Cheshire. I cannot possibly start thinking of packing my bag yet! Way twerly! although I've looked into what goes into your bag As for the nursery, not got very far! Dh moved his computer out on Saturday and then Sunday it wouldn't turn on! He's lost his extra limb. Looks pretty fatal. He's really not in a good mood. Most of Sunday I cried a lot as I felt stupidly responsible for 'making him' move his stuff so I could have a baby. I'm over it now. I'm glad the bloody thing has broken so he can get off his computer games and spend time with me! The rest of the stuff in there needs shifting and then we can paint it and measure up to see what furniture we can get in there!

Think we've chosen our pram/travel system but it looks quite chunky and I'm worried it won't fit in our boot! Might be back to the drawing board...

mrsdiddlydoo · 17/08/2015 19:12

No nesting or preparing going on here. I have however bought the cutest rainbow coloured blanket which a local lady knitted. Have also had crazy cleaning moments but I think that's more due to the house being a state from lack of cleaning due to nausea and sickness.

Cheshirehello79 · 17/08/2015 19:13

Oh chops - as you said at least your dh can spend more time with you and might be an inspiration that he's got free time and you guys can start planning about the nursery ( I'm so optimistic haha) . Just remember as well there's sales starting again now - and this will be the last sales coming up to Christmas ( did I just say that !)

I would recommend to book yourselves a day out and go into a store and try the prams including if they fit in the car. My 2 first choice prams never did and was only looking at them online - when I went to test them I didn't like them neither. I would recommend anyone to do that.

Blue - glad "bad craps" are better and dh doing massaging role - get yourself some nice mild olive oil lidl/ Aldo are the cheapest as I heard it's the best for massaging and massaging your belly and back too. It's good for new born as well.

Metal - got names now - not sharing ;-) and love them will just have to wait for what beanster looks like and decide which suits better.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 17/08/2015 19:24

No nursery here- in a three bed with two kids this little one will be sharing with someone until we can afford to move/extend.
Going for a private scan Friday to try and find out gender so hopefully will be able to start planning the room he/she will be sharing to a degree

Cheshirehello79 · 17/08/2015 19:34

Exciting times Sharon. Gave you got any preference ?

Cheshirehello79 · 17/08/2015 19:35

Have...

Hate this iPad with it bl*dy predictive text!

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 17/08/2015 19:55

Not really. Got one of each already who are great in their own ways.

chopsface · 17/08/2015 21:51

Puked my dinner up tonight :-( feeling sorry for myself now Sad

SnozzberryPie · 17/08/2015 22:05

Hospital bags....I had my dd unexpectedly early at 35 weeks and hadn't packed a bag yet. I went into hospital when my waters broke with nothing but my handbag and had to send dp home with a list....he brought in the most ridiculous things, eg. I asked him for a nighty and he bought my silk evening dress! So let this be a warning to you not to do the same, and pack your bags asap!

Cheshirehello79 · 17/08/2015 22:25

Oh chops hope you're feeling ok - I'm not feeling that excellent this evening must admit but managed have something has bangers and mash with veg and that was ok

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 17/08/2015 22:25

GrinGrinGrinAt silk evening dress

Cheshirehello79 · 17/08/2015 22:26

Snooz thanks for re- assuring me that I'm not being mad thinking about packing mine and have it all ready by 30 weeks

Cheshirehello79 · 19/08/2015 14:13

Birth plan - anyone started thinking of this ? And do you have to have one and is it something you hand over to mw to add in your file or hospital when you are ready to pop?

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 19/08/2015 15:06

I think they discuss it at about the 28/32 week appointment.
No point thinking about it yet is my view as unless the placenta moves away from the cervix which I won't find out until 34 week scan anyway then it's going to be a c section

Metalhead · 19/08/2015 15:14

My birth plan this time is to ask for a C-section!

But in general, I think there is a page in your maternity notes where you can put down your preferences, and obviously discuss these with your midwives. My only advice would be not to get too hung up on what you think you want/don't want as it might all change when you're actually in labour. (I for example was determined to avoid an episiotomy or forceps at all costs last time, but after 2 hours of pushing I frankly would have consented to anything just to get the baby out NOW!)

SnozzberryPie · 19/08/2015 15:55

The birth plan is another thing didn't get around to last time Hmm

I think I will write one this time around as I have a better idea of what I will and will not want. It will be about which drugs and interventions I am happy with, rather than which flavour of incense I prefer Wink. I'm also thinking of declining to have internal exams. I think the important thing is to communicate your plans to your dp or birth partner as they will be in a better position to discuss things with the midwife on the day.
