For all those lovely bumps incubating until last few days of Oct and all November, spilling possibly over to December for the super comfortable babies- come and chat, rant, vent, chant, glow, sweat, watch nails grow whilst doing antenatal pilates/yoga/sleeping/eating/navel gazing and over analyse to your hormones content!

Optional - FB group is up and bumping, PM me with email to be added.

Place marking!

Lovely scan news for those who've posted on this new thread Smile. Annatha and lemon - that's rubbish service from your midwives. Hope you get to hear your baby's heartbeat soon.

I'm having my usual sleepless night but am getting up in an hr to fly to Barcelona. Really looking forward! Not looking forward to feeling a heifer in my summer clothes though. I weighed myself yesterday morning - have gained a stone already!! Blush

Amyyy27 · 12/06/2015 06:43

lemon exactly the same as yours. We had an mmc last year and ive been terrified of the same thing happening again so I ended up crying in my appointment and she still wouldn't do it!!! So bought myself a doppler lol x

austengirl · 12/06/2015 07:45

Great news about the scan Abbey, very pleased for you.

I'm sorry you didn't get to hear the heartbeat lemon and annatha. I honestly wasn't expecting to at my 16 week appointment, so it was a pleasant surprise when she did. Can you talk to the practice manager about if that's their policy not to do it, or switch to a different midwife if the one you've seen isn't being helpful?

The past few years we've gone to one family wedding every summer. This year we've been invited to four Shock. I'm hoping to get away with wearing some of the stretchier dresses I already own, but at least it's all different people at each (one is a week before my due date and a five hour drive, so we've said we probably won't make it).

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 12/06/2015 08:03

Didn't get to hear heartbeat at mine either. To be fair, she explained that they are advised not to do early because they sometimes cant find it and it causes unnecessary panic. Which seems like a fairly good reason.
I have so many appointments that seen pointless and it's annoying because I either have to take time off work or find childcare. But I guess it's just to do tribe and blood pressure checks regularly.
I've also been sent an appointment for anaesthetist clinic in the list. Anyone else under consultant care had this? No idea what it is or why I have to have it.

annatha · 12/06/2015 08:46

guybrush I've got an appointment with an anesthetist next month and I don't really know why either. I think mines just routine as I've moved up the risk scale since last pg.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 12/06/2015 09:25

My 16 week appointment was also like that. They don't listen to the heart for second babies apparently, weird.

I've not got an anaesthetist appointment but I'm being pushed down the vbac route currently so perhaps it's for those with possible sections?

stace1986 · 12/06/2015 10:44

I have to see the anaesthetist because I have a latex allergy and a clotting disorder and they apparently like to meet anyone under consultant care before the birth. Not have my appt come through yet but my consultant said I would get one.

tootsroots · 12/06/2015 11:58

Am meeting anesthetist as i fractured my lumbar vertabrae in a few spots . they have concerns about IF i need epidural or spinal block whether they feasibly can do it without damaging the scar tissue already there, so i am seeing them at 34 ish weeks. Kind of not thinking too hard about it to be fair as not alot i can do.

I am of the belief now that all appts given, as this is NHS and funding is low are good appts 'just in case'.

Oops posted on the old thread! So copying below. Just catching up though, sorry to hear about rubbish 16 week apts. Seems I was lucky as the midwife was happy to find the heartbeat. Apart from that there wasn't much to it- most of the apt was taken up with the midwife on hold to another department to get my Down's syndrome test result.

Anyway...Had my 20 week scan today. Baby was a right wriggler which is funny as I can't feel anything yet! All seems ok. Sonographer was very nice although the screen was so small and far away I couldn't really make much out! But I didn't want to constantly interrupt her asking what things were when she was trying to get all the important info!

I don't really have much of a bump, but have definitely put on a few kilos! Had the most excruciating leg cramp 2 days ago and can still feel the muscle aching. Hopefully a one-off....does anyone have any prevention tips?
Miss Scarlett I'm sorry you have such an unreasonable boss Sad How horrible.

BowiesJumper · 12/06/2015 21:35

Ooo there's a new thread. I thought the other one was quiet! You buggers sneaking off!

CoffeeTwo · 12/06/2015 21:42

Oh here you all are! Hello!

My pram arrived today eeee can't wait to play with it (then pack it away for another 5 months!)

NoMoreSashimi · 12/06/2015 22:04

Place marking Smile

Had my 20 week scan yesterday and all looks fine, baby was wriggling away. Starting to feel tiny movements, but doctor said it might still take a while to feel proper kicks because of the anterior placenta.

Pram related: has anyone looked at the Venicci travel system? They got quite good reviews and I'm really tempted...

flyingsprocket · 12/06/2015 22:12

Here you all are!

Great news on all the good scans Smile

TakesTwoToTango · 12/06/2015 23:33

Just place marking as I'm away atm with not much Internet access. Great scan news!

Laura7010 · 13/06/2015 06:06

Shortlashes, I get leg cramp quite a lot so I know when it's coming on usually. To stop the awful pain, if you feel it coming, twist your foot in a circular motion and rub your calf. This stops mine from going any further. Sometimes however I'm unlucky and it wakes me up too late! Other than that plenty of water.

ch1134 · 13/06/2015 06:17

Congratulations for all the scans. I had my 16 week appt yesterday and the first thing she did was listen for the heartbeat. Such a relief as I've had no symptoms and felt very little movement so I needed the reassurance. Now I finally feel like I can relax and tell people and stop being so touchy about the whole thing.
I am so excited! I had such a great time looking after my son in the early days... he's 17 months now. Can't quite believe I get to do it all again! And work is so unbelievably stressful. I can't wait for mat leave.

Lauramum23 · 13/06/2015 06:23

How come you started a new one? Trying to get rid of me eh? Wink

ehealy · 13/06/2015 07:18

Hideous hayfever! I'm using Vaseline as a plug but I'm starting my day at a park. It's henparty for my bestie I'm loaded up with nonalcoholic drinks I'm predicting im in bed at 11!

PinkaColada · 13/06/2015 09:06

Hayfever is awful here too ehealy. Lying in bed with the windows open, eyes streaming, throat itching and DH lying next to me suffering the same making his bloody itchy throat noise Hmm. I am tempted to go the doctor with it. I usually just use whatever DH gets from the doctor, but having looked on Nhs website they don't seem to even want you to use Piriton without doctors approval.

stace1986 · 13/06/2015 09:15

Shortlashes and Laura7 if the cramp happens at night its due to a lack of salts. I used to suffer with them terribly. I used to have to take rehydration salts before bed and that seemed to do the trick so something to keep in mind if they keep happening. From what I can remember the doctor saying its only lack of salts if they happen at night.

Crumbelina · 13/06/2015 09:27

Oh, here you are!

Congratulations on the scans, Abbey, Short, Nomore and anyone else I've missed! Such great news!

ShortLashes · 13/06/2015 09:32

Thanks for the advice Laura7010 and Stace1986. I also drank a can of tonic water last night as apparently quinine can help.

Seem to get horrible symptoms but only once or twice! A few weeks ago, my face was getting so sore when I used Simple moisturiser (which I've used for years), I had to wash it off - but it's fine again now! Wish I understood what was going on a bit better than 'hormones being all over the place'!

gennibugs · 13/06/2015 09:57

Yay to all the scan news. 2 weeks to go mine. Luckily we are on holiday next week so hopefully it will make the time seem quicker.

I had terrible cramp the other night - my leg was aching for days after too. DH said it was lack of salt too. I might try the tonic water tip too.

Focusfocus · 13/06/2015 10:08

Lovely new thread, like I said on the old one, so sorry to be lurking more than posting, am suffering from SPD and things are quite quite miserable out here. Work is peaking with pressure and well - just not finding it in myself.

But i do read and wish you all very well. The scan news is great all around! Those disappointed about no Doppler at 16 weeks, it sucks, doesn't it. I was surprised mine took one out, but it's not standard at all.

My 5 month scan is tomorrow and will definitely try to post an update of the little man.

S sorry for becoming an irregular, but I had never anticipated second trimester to get me down with pain this way. We are spending loads on mattresses, bed, pillows, therapy, yoga, oils, you name it.

Loulabellle123 · 13/06/2015 10:23

Morning all,
Some great scan news. I'm getting exciting for my mine on Tuesday. I passed the 20 week mark this week and my clothes are definitely getting tight so I am on a mission to get some maternity wear. DH is watching a bundle of clothes on eBay and I am desperately looking for a black knee length skirt (not pencil) which goes over bump. I have found one from la redoute but had to send it back as it wasn't right. Grrrr. How hard can finding a black skirt be - I'd like black so I can mix and match with tops and not feel like I'm wearing the same thing all the time.
Hope everyone's aches and pains are ok. My bumps been feeling uncomfortable so I'm guessing my uterus is stretching! Have a good rainy weekend.
