Go do it Carlton! I fell asleep on the sofa so have forced myself out for a walk to wake up. The fatigue is becoming pretty debilitating :(

Marsaday · 07/06/2015 17:32

carlton i can't pop out at lunch - the clinic is closed for lunch and housecalls 12-2 but in any case i have a 45 min lunch and work 50 mins from home and midwife.
Hi lynnie welcome and congratulations. Are you primary or secondary?

LynnieLurker · 07/06/2015 17:53

I'm secondary. What about you? I am not looking forward to telling work at all! There is an awful rumour mill! Any other teachers on here?

marsaday maybe try saying its a medical appointment that can't be rearranged then, and see if they push you as to what exactly it's for.

lynnie welcome and congratulations Smile

Secondary. When i found out i was pregnant with DS, my oh had ofsted... He came home, i showed him the test and all he said was "oh". I was quite underwhelmed by his reaction...

I think I would have been as well! The next question I was asked (after....is that a the monster?) was 'is it real?'. I do have a bit of a reputation as a practical joker but ......

I have had my first waves of nausea today and random tears because my marking is taking too long! Not like me at all....

marsday yeah I would say its a hospital appointment. They can't argue about that and would be a bit wrong if they asked you what kind of hosp app.

Been suffering with stomach and back ache this weekend but the main thing which is killing me is my hay fever! Really don't know how I will survive the summer not being able to take anti-histamines. Its lovely out there but been shut away all weekend as can't bear to go outside!

Welcome to Betty and Step Smile

Mars, I wouldn't tolerate a head of dept with such little respect for your privacy. I would go above their head and tell their superior why you need time off - the head of dept doesn't deserve to know, IMO.

Isn't it wonderful to be pregnant? I feel like the luckiest girl in the world Smile

It is brilliant! I feel very unpregnant today, no nausea and boobs less sore though still hurting. I'm sure they will be back with a vengeance tomorrow.

I love it Purdie, I have wanted to be pg for long before we actually started trying so is a dream come true :)

Aww, wait until you have a big bump and you waddle around town feeling on top of the world. My pregnancy was the happiest time of my life. Fact.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Marsaday if it were me i'd not want to my employer yet so would say it was an appointment that couldnt be moved. I've had hospital appointments in the past that i had to wait for and couldnt have moved so this is legit.

first i feel your pain with the hayfever. I popped into a pharmacist yesterday to ask if there was anything i could take and they said no, everything that goes into my body goes into growing bean but if reallysuffering i could go to docs. Its not as bad as it has been some years but i thought i might ask when i see the doc.

Oh my gawd we've nearly filled a thread!!

Welcome to the newbies. Ellie - you have a seven month old and you're expecting?! FAIR PLAY Grin

Sorry for lack of posts over the weekend; I've had my best mate over to stay. Hope everyone has had a great couple of days.

Nausea persists, big time. Tiredness is getting worse too.

Is anyone here going to find out the gender? We didn't with DS and won't with this one. Just found out my mate is having a boy though, which did make me ponder what it would be like to know.

Report
jellypi3 · 07/06/2015 19:43

We would find out for sure. It's still a surprise at the end of the day. It's just earlier :)

Whoever does the new thread can you link the stats in the opening thread

I didn't find out the sex when I was pregnant with Nancy but will do second time around. Those of you having your first: think carefully about finding out the sex beforehand; when you are in agony and exhausted from labour there is nothing more magical and exhilarating than the baby being put on your chest and your husband telling you what you have borne Smile

Report
nightandthelight · 07/06/2015 19:52

I don't know! I have no objection to the loss of surprise (as jelly says it is just earlier). My fear is then having everything given to us in pink or blue! MIL will crochet blankets etc and I want it all to be gender neutral. Once the baby is born nothing I can do but would like to prevent it being gender stereotyped before it's even born! Gender is going to be a big issue with ILs anyway I think as they are pretty traditional in that way and has already led to arguments in terms of how they expect me to behave.

Fingers crossed all going well I think I'd have to know!

Feeling very, very tired this weekend but no other symptoms. I sometimes question that I've dreamt the whole thing!? I check the photos of the tests I've done on my phone. (Yes I know I sound bonkers!)

Hello all especially the newbies. Sorry to have gone AWOL, I can't keep up with you chatty lot.

We're back in Wales fir our anniversary, the weather is glorious today. Unfortunately I've had cramps all day, enough that I had briefed DH on what to do if I went floppy on him and had looked up the nearest a&e as I was concerned about ectopic. Then had some spotting. It seems to have subsided now so not panicking but a bit worried.

Had a bath and scratched an itchy nipple and it produced something when I scratched it. This nipple did start producing milk at about 18 weeks last time but in January I had an infection in that breast. I don't know if it is my body producing milk mega early (6+2) or if it the infection back. It's not painful.

Do you think I'm ok to sit tight or should I give 111 a bell?

Marsaday - I used to work in a school as a Business Manager and know what it's like. I think I would just call in sick...not something I would advocate as a general rule! - in that instance, to keep your entitled privacy and not arouse suspicions I think it could be an easier option. x

nightandthelight · 07/06/2015 20:01

Sorry that you are worried goulash :( Not sure that 111 exists in Wales yet but am not certain! Can you wait till tomorrow morning when doctors etc will be open again?

DH says we don't need to find out because he knows it is a girl Grin

Report
peachybex · 07/06/2015 20:05

@ Raffertys - pregnant with first baby. DH absolutely wants to find out what we are having asap!. I'm not so sure but probably won't be able to resist the temptation. I think knowing would have a certain magic, though have always said befre being pg I would never find out!
