Every pregnancy is different Charlotte your nausea might start a bit later or not come at all. Or you'll have something else instead so aversion to certain foods, cravings, back pain (I have this really, really bad).

Don't think the worst when there's no indication the worst will happen, you'll just make yourself ill.

Betty5714 · 07/06/2015 12:11

Hello everyone, can i join?

I'm 31, got a BFP on Thu and 4+4 with DC#1. I think i'm due 11th Feb but not been to doc yet.

We started ttc in Feb, got lucky first month but early mc at 5 weeks. We had only told parents the day before so then had to tell them we'd lost it, but still glad we told them as they were so supportive. I know it was very early but i felt awful, bled heavily for a week with strong pains and migraine on and off for 10 days, then a couple of weeks later got flu which lasted two weeks i think because i was run down. Only started ttc again this month so been very lucky to get pg again and hoping this one sticks.

Sore boobs and mild cramping for 2 weeks. Had a work away day on Fri. Managed to get out of dinner but found it really hard to make excuses for not drinking before i left and ended up taking very small sips of pimms and taking it to the loo with me so i could pour half down the sink! Office busy body sat one seat away talking about who would get pg next and suggested it might be me, wanted to scream!

Excited to be here. I've found your posts really reassuring, particuarly comments to not worry if symptoms change. Was going to do second digi in a week hoping to see progression but now thinking better not to in case it raises anxiety! Really want to be positive and enjoy this, and fx it lasts!

rallytog1 · 07/06/2015 12:34

I almost did the same purdie! Fortunately it was just a wave of nausea so I didn't actually produce anything Grin

Stepawayfromthezebras · 07/06/2015 12:46

Hello thread, can I join?

Got my first ever BFP yesterday Smile I'm 36 and we've been trying for 21 months so this is a lovely surprise. I was on my first cycle of clomid but the doctor had said it probably wouldn't work as I was ovulating anyway but we thought we'd give it a try before starting IVF. I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow (too chicken to test earlier!) so EDD is 8th Feb

Boobear1983 · 07/06/2015 13:15

Hello to new peeps. Horrible nausea today but not actually been sick. Some mild cramping which is a bit worrying, but no bleeding.

Marsaday · 07/06/2015 13:38

Hello to all the newbies - apologies for not naming but it's awkward to scroll back on my phone.
Boo to the nausea for all those feeling sicky. I still feel very unpregnant, but this doesn't surprise me as the only symptom i had with ds was a bump, and i didnt get that until about 24 weeks.
Actually i do have a sore boob today - but thats because ds bit it. Youch! He thought it was hysterically funny, i was less impressed.
Anyone got any tips not gaining my.entire bodyweight twice over during this pregnancy? I put on too much last time, and it did come off while bf, but don't really want to do that again. Need to avoid the whole "eating for two" thing, but its soooo hard when you're hungry all the time!

pretzelpieces · 07/06/2015 13:53

Welcome and congrats step and betty!

Oh purdie sorry you're feeling so sicky Thanks [brew

At the baby shower yesterday the mum to be's SIL looked round at everyone and said 'is anyone else pregnant?' I wanted the ground to swallow me up. The whole event was torturous. There was one other pregnant lady there so she and the main mum to be were chatting about baby stuff and I couldn't join in cause I couldn't tell anyone! Boo!

Marsaday · 07/06/2015 13:53

Oh poo, just wrote a really long message and my phone ate it. Angry

Marsaday · 07/06/2015 13:53

Oh!! But now it's appeared after all. Confused. Confused

Carltonlives · 07/06/2015 14:14

charlotte I really hope it works out for you. I think all you can do is try and distract yourself from it for now. What will be will be

Welcome betty! We have the same due date :-) sorry to hear of your previous mc, hope this one sticks for you

Welcome butterfly and any other newbies I've missed :-)

purdie sorry to hear you are feeling poorly. You will cope with 2 just fine im sure :-)

marsaday I'm feeling very unpregnant at the moment too, it's still very early days though

Hope everyone else is well

purdiepie · 07/06/2015 14:20

I hate baby showers.

nightandthelight · 07/06/2015 14:25

DH told vicar today, vicar proceeded to keep telling us how dangerous the early weeks are Grin

Brummiegirl15 · 07/06/2015 14:45

Charlotte I agree what will be will be. All you can do is take it 1 day at a time.

Am waiting at Heathrow for a flight to Italy for work and started feeling really damp. Ran to loo in a panic thinking "oh my god don't let me be miscarrying at the airport"

Everything all fine....

nightandthelight · 07/06/2015 14:48

Ah yes the endlessly damp knickers cue panic run to loo brummie, has happened to me far too often Hmm very envious of your Italy trip! We are meant to be going to Rome in November but will pretty pregnant by then so not sure what to do!

Elliekins · 07/06/2015 14:51

Hi ladies, please can I join you all?
Only found out on Friday and am frankly completely in shock and not fully come to terms with the news yet, I'm due 2/2/16.
I'm very pleased in some ways as I wasn't sure we'd be able to have another baby, but feeling an awful lot of trepidation as well, as my daughter is only just 7 months old!
This is completely unexpected as my periods are hardly back, I'm still bf, plus we have been reasonably careful.
Oh, and I'm supposed to have very very low ovarian reserve, so much so that my GP thought I'd need IVF and donor eggs!
We thought our daughter was a complete miracle when we conceived naturally on Valentine's Day last year (cliché!) so for it to happen twice is quite amazing.
The timing is frankly not good at all as I'm just back to work, we are in a bit of a financial muddle, I just starting to feel like myself again and have literally just got (sort-of) back into my old jeans!
There have been quite a few tears and panics in the last few days so I'm hoping all your infectious enthusiasm and excitement will detract from my anxiety about such a weeny age gap as how we'll cope with two little ones.
Blush
Any one else in a similar boat with a very young first bubba?
Xx

Marsaday · 07/06/2015 14:54

So, about telling people... I will have to take time off work for my midwife appointment. I'm a teacher so can't take it as annual leave, and I know from last time that the clinic hours are the same as school day, so can't do it after work.
If I don't tell my head of department, what on earth do I write on the absence form that he has to sign? If I just write doctor's appointment I'm going to get asked why I didn't arrange it outside school hours. Any clever ideas ladies?

purdiepie · 07/06/2015 15:22

Ellie! Shock I thought I was nuts having a 14 month old and getting preggo. My friend has the same gap as you and she copes, but boy is it hard. Good luck, love, and congratulations Grin

Brummie, what kind of job takes you to Italy? Envy

purdiepie · 07/06/2015 15:23

Mars, just tell the head of dept you're preggo.

Boobear1983 · 07/06/2015 15:27

Mars i would just tell them, i have had to already. I've only told supervisors though and asked them to keep it confidential. First midwife appointment on tuesday for me.

Marsaday · 07/06/2015 15:31

Yeah, but I know that it won't be kept confidential.
When one of my colleagues told the Head of dept we all knew before she told us, then had to act all surprised when she did tell us.
Last time I told the head at 9 weeks, asked specifically for it to be kept totally confidential as so early, and 2 days a teacher from a different dept congratulated me on my news.

Boobear1983 · 07/06/2015 16:00

I feel it may be the same with me, hr have had to be informed so we'll see what happens.

Carltonlives · 07/06/2015 16:01

mars can you nip out at lunch time and say you've got an appointment that couldn't be rescheduled? If not I would just tell them, although if they don't keep it confidential that's really rude!

Carltonlives · 07/06/2015 16:03

ellie welcome! That is a close age gap, but just think how close they will be when they're older Smile I'm sure you will be fine, congratulations Smile

Carltonlives · 07/06/2015 16:06

I really do feel fine today. I dont expect it to last though. I feel like I want to go out and do loads of fun things before the tiredness kicks in Smile

LynnieLurker · 07/06/2015 16:36

Hi there!

Tentatively joining as I am 4 weeks, 2 days today. bfp on Tuesday, 4 days before period due but I just 'felt' like I might be. Used a digi one, my husband thought I was showing him a thermometer at first! Not quite the romantic moment I'd envisioned!

De lurking was prompted somewhat by Marsaday. Fellow teacher here, I know what the staff room grapevine is like! I would be tempted to call in sick for the day, or cite 'medical appointment - unable to move it' on the cover request and leave it at that? It's tricky isn't it?

Hope everyone is doing well, I have shared in many of the worries and excitement. Currently I am forcing myself NOT to get too excited at the prospect of Mat leave from Christmas!!!!!
