I recommend just going with eBay maternity used bundles as items have generally only been used for 6 months so still in good condition and saves a fortune.

Although a bit early, I just listened to a good hynobirthing free podcast for pregnancy and ended up having a very decent hour nap ??

mrschatty · 31/05/2015 16:05

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow with #1 so far so good clothes wise but had to be pulled out of my dress last night my d nieces so think I need to start shopping too thanks for tge tips xx

ValancyJane · 31/05/2015 16:15

Marvelette I'm really on the fence about when to tell. Was thinking about trying to keep it quiet until the last week of term (know they will give me a rubbish timetable for next year if they know) - but quite honestly I think I'll end up having to tell them as I'm starting to get nausea now. 12 week scan will be around second/third week of July so I might hold out until then!

Bee I've been looking at the eBay ones but I think a lot of people have that idea - they seem to get some serious bidding wars going on the ones I've been looking at!

Just found out a close friend is due in December, so OH totally caved and told her I'm due in January. We should really stop telling people, but just couldn't resist!

Also, when I was putting stuff away in the bathroom earlier I found one last internet cheapy pregnancy test and couldn't resist - test line came up darker than the control within about ten seconds. OH reckons I'm totally mega super pregnant now!!

Marvelette · 31/05/2015 16:47

BlackandWhite/Valancy - definitely holding on for as long as possible without telling (confess I'm a bit worried about being lumbered with a terrible timetable too if they find out in the next couple of weeks!). Let's see how we all get on! The kids at my school will be the FIRST to say something if they think I look even slightly pregnant mind!

ValancyJane · 31/05/2015 16:57

Marvelette Yeah my gut feeling is to try and leave it as long as I can to be honest! I don't think my kids will notice for ages (I'm carrying a few extra pounds, so there's no way I'll be showing before the end of term) - have seen challenging girls become utterly delightful for pregnant colleagues though in the past, there's definitely some empathy there and they like talking about babies, so hoping a bump might work some magic on my Year 10's if I carry them through to Year 11!!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 31/05/2015 17:22

So with maternity clothes, do they come in different bump sizes or is it a one size fits all bumps affair? So are things a bit wrinkly at first and stretched to bursting by the end? Experienced mums please comment!

Lookingforadvice123 · 31/05/2015 17:31

moonshine a friend of mine had her dating scan at 10 weeks as she would be away after that, but her mother in law was terminally ill abroad so not sure if she maybe got a special doctor's note for that? I know she had the downs screening blood test but not sure if they can look at the neck that early. I would try and have it before you go as I don't know if they offer the NT screening after 14 weeks? Tell a white lie and say that you won't be back until after you're 14 weeks but would like the NT test.

Maternity gear wise the best places I've seen (online) are h&m and Asos. There seems to be a lot of awful frumpy mat gear out there, like wrap dresses and constant polka dots Hmm grim.

Juniper44 · 31/05/2015 17:33

blackandwhite I found that different clothes fit at different times. I had a gypsy top that looked fine at 6 months, but ridiculous at 9 months. And then some that just did not sit right after the first stage.

I'd recommend buying what you need as and when you need it. You might not need all that much. I wore some of my normal tops until the end. Also, you might find that other people lend them to you.

OTheHugeManatee · 31/05/2015 17:35

Oh! We're at 40 pages! Would someone start a new thread and link it? I would but I'm on mobile Smile

moonshine25 · 31/05/2015 17:39

Thanks so much for the advice looking! I would like to have the NT test and would love to have a scan before I go so think I'll do what you suggest and say I'm away until after 14 weeks.

Re maternity wear, I was just going to have a look as and when I need it really - although I do live at the top of Scotland where shopping is limited so think it'll be perhaps internet shopping too! Although I may need maternity bras soon!! What are those ones called that pp's have talked about? Milk something?

Blackandwhitecat3 · 31/05/2015 17:47

Hot Milk Moonshine

Manatee I'm happy to start a new thread. Anyone got good ideas for a catchy title?

mrschatty · 31/05/2015 17:52

Rose85 · 31/05/2015 20:54

Hi can I join please, got my BFP on Friday :)
I think I'm due at the end of January, I'm so excited but also petrified until my scan and I hear the heartbeat.
No nausea so far (touch wood) but for the last two nights I have woken up at 4am and cant get back to sleep, although this could be due to excitement x

Blackandwhitecat3 · 31/05/2015 21:05
