Hi ladies, just checking back in after a week away.

parsnip I don't know if you're still around on this thread but if you are I'm so sorry.... Xx

We told ur parents last weekend (just before our big joint hol) and thankfully the overwhelming reaction was joyous shock.... Now however my mum is stressing that she won't see the baby as often as my MIL and she needs to move house for the baby to know her (she lives 200me away, not the other side of the planet) and she is stressing me right out!!!

kep1979 · 31/05/2015 02:37

Well i made it to the pool, slathered in factor 30 as i am definitely on the bluer side of pale. Struggling to eat much at the moment, and still felt horrendously sick so went to buy sea bands (pharmacy next to our hotel luckily). Have had them on all afternoon and felt marginally better and managed to stomach a lobster roll and a conch fritter, which is the most I've eaten in days so hoping they make a difference. Trouble is, how on earth to hide them at work?

I really need to keep things under wraps for at least a month as i am leading a major project, the deadline is the end of June, and my boss threatened to take me off it if i was pregnant (long story, convo after miscarried and boss has uncanny ability to fit his foot in his mouth!)

Carno13 · 31/05/2015 04:28

Agh! I feel so anxious! My last pregnancy I had horrendous sickness, couldn't eat hardly anything and was sick 10+ times a day. Stupidly thought id escaped it this time but no such luck, haven't actually been sick yet but really feel like I need to to feel better. Just forcing a banana down in the hope I feel better ?? sorry for the woe is me post hope everyone else is all good xx

HappyGirl86 · 31/05/2015 04:40

Hi Carno,

I hope the sickness passes for you soon. How many weeks are you?
I am absolutely dreading it. Almost talking myself into feeling it i thinkHmm

BeeMyBaby · 31/05/2015 07:02

juniper exactly, sometimes it's just eating properly that can help the weight fall off rather than having to starve yourself. I see it as nesting for the body. As DH keeps telling me not all calories are equal.

Still not told DH but we did have a good discussion last night (he said he would love another baby but it just wasn't the best time but if I got pregnant in the next few months he would still be delighted) so hopefully he will be happy when he opens the midwife letter. Lol

Lookingforadvice123 · 31/05/2015 08:34

kep I'm appalled at your boss!! This is illegal surely, you can't discriminate against a pregnant woman.

I would make a formal complaint to HR, his behaviour is disgusting xx

ValancyJane · 31/05/2015 08:48

Hi ladies, I've had a busy few days and missed loads here! Welcome newbies :) Am 6 weeks today which is exciting, feel like I've been 5 weeks forever after re-dating myself and having an extra three days of being 5 weeks!

Had a teeny bit of nausea the last few days, but mainly when I need to eat really. Am dreading going back to work this week and trying to teach teenagers while having on/off nausea and just wanting to sleep.

Juniper How are you feeling now?

Kep You do realise that's discrimination and your union/HR would have an absolute field day with that, right?!

mrschatty · 31/05/2015 09:11

Morning everyone! V jealous of these delicious meals everyone had yesterday...I was at a gorgeous Italian and could only stomach one fork of risotto...xx

Claire2628 · 31/05/2015 09:15

Hi all,

Another newbie here. Due 19th Jan with my first. Surprised how early these pregnancy symptoms kick in I've had to buy a maternity bra already, boobs are so sore! Got the all day sicky feeling too but if I eat it tends to go away. Think I'll be adding a few pounds during this pregnancy but hey ho. If it makes me feel better right?

We've just told some close friends and family. I also told my boss straight away and she just said do what you need to in the first trimester but I knew she'd be supportive. Had a 30th birthday last night where hubby had to drink from both our glasses to avoid suspicion. Think it worked Smile.

Booking apt in 2 weeks. It's such an agonising wait isn't it? Hubby is away with work in my 12th week so having to wait an extra week for my first scan. Hoping they'll let us go a few days early x

mrschatty · 31/05/2015 09:19

Hi claire welcome :) xxx

Marvelette · 31/05/2015 10:00

Hello Valancy - I'll be thinking of you tomorrow as will also be trying to teach teenagers whilst feeling wobbly and nauseous!

mrsfazruns · 31/05/2015 10:19

All the food posts making me giggle!! I'm
In the "I feel so sick because I'm starving but the minute I eat a mouthful of something I feel full" boat :... Driving me mad! Apart from that not many other symptoms here!!! No boobage symptoms apart from HUGE nipples/aerolas .... DH says the look like the size of a McDonald's burger!! (Mmmmm burgers) x

HappyGirl86 · 31/05/2015 10:21

Hi everyone, I just wondered what people have told their work places when they are experiencing morning sickness or feeling sick? I work in a job where I deliver training/education and it wouldn't be possible for me to just leave the room for about 3 hours. I didn't really want to tell work yet and it's making me feel anxious anticipating the next couple of weeks.

frozenfairy123 · 31/05/2015 10:41

Hi can I join u please? I'm 8 weeks with no 2! Vomiting loads and feel sorry for myself a bit. Can't wait for the first scan. Tempted to pay for a private one but don't want to waste money. X

ValancyJane · 31/05/2015 10:54

Marvelette I'll be thinking of you too!! I have a full day tomorrow so am crossing my fingers that sixth form don't show up (they seem to have given themselves study leave - would give me at least one hour of calm!). The seven and a half week countdown begins... Have you told work yet? I'm really not sure when I should.

Happy Maybe lie and say you're having kidney problems? That will give you a good reason to nip to the loo as and when.

Welcome frozen :)

KeepingKate · 31/05/2015 10:58

Hi All, can I please join you all? I am at 6wk+2 and nervous as hell! seem to spend most of my time hoping these first 12 weeks will speed up so I feel a bit more safe! Haven't told anyone other than my other half. But I don't think it will be long before they work it out!
I'm completely tempted to pay for a private scan to settle my nerves too! I just want reassurance that this little bean is growing!! I've felt a little sick but nothing major so maybe I'm one of the lucky ones! Although it's making me panic something's wrong! How is everyone staying calm??!!

SleepyDragon · 31/05/2015 11:01

I've been lucky so far by the sounds of it, despite feeling queasy I've not actually been sick (7+3 today) and until now ive not had the sore boobage, however I nearly jumped out of the shower this morning when the water hit the ol 'ipples' lol!

I have my booking appointment on Friday Grin

Oysterbabe · 31/05/2015 11:16

I'm not really staying calm Kate. Confused
I'm not stressing too much about miscarriage and ectopic because I'll know if that's happening from the pain and blood, currently I feel fine. It's missed miscarriage that's on my mind, I keep asking myself whether I still feel pregnant and resisting the urge to poas. I'm 5 weeks so that scan is a loooong way off.

moonshine25 · 31/05/2015 11:36

I'm trying to stay calm Kate but just have niggling worries that something will go wrong. Such a worrying time, I guess everything is so new and it's so hard to know what's normal or not as everyone is different.

Oh Mrs I'm exactly the same, woke up feeling queasy so my lovely OH made me breakfast but ate a bit then couldn't eat anymore - back to queasy now! Haha at least I've not been sick yet!!

I'm counting down the days till my booking appt - 11th June, although I know that won't really have much effect on my worry! Also on holidays when I'm 12 weeks so will have even longer to wait - rubbish! Does anyone know the earliest you can have your 12 week scan?

Tonicandgin · 31/05/2015 11:37

Welcome to all the newbies!

Calmness wise - I was terrible when I had dd. I was in such a state when I went for my 12 wk scan I cried when I saw the little bean.

Calmer this time, but I think it's because I know it feels the same as last time (rubbish) and there's nothing I can do about it. We have no control over it all we can do is look after ourselves and hope for the best. This is the hardest bit. After that you have the 20 wk scan (which is scary but not as bad) then you feel it moving all the time. It's like having a little friend with you (least that was my experience).

Tonicandgin · 31/05/2015 11:38

Anyone else absolutely exhausted??!

Went holiday clothes shopping yesterday and just had to have an extra nap this morning whilst dh took did to soft play.

Feel massively guilty I'm not spending as much time with her as usual..

Readyforthefuture · 31/05/2015 11:49

This won't be for everyone, but while we were having our fertility treatment the last time I booked myself in for a one-off hypnotherapy session. It had been a horrible dramatic cycle and my emotions were really scattered, so I was willing to try anything. I'm a sceptic, but I have to say I now have this sense of calm and a little voice telling me it'll be ok.

It helps, shame it can't stop me being repulsed by all food! Scan is now 2 days away, feeling really excited, makes the throwing up worthwhile!

Amymighalls · 31/05/2015 11:50

Hi everyone

Going this thread today, I'm 5 weeks EDD is 30th jan. This is my second child but my ds is nearly 11 (I had him young) so it's as if this is my first time again!
Symptoms wise I have ridiculously sore boobs that have grown already and extreme tiredness and the occasional sicky feeling but nothing too bad...yet!

Oysterbabe · 31/05/2015 11:50

Moonshine my midwife says 11+2 is the earliest.

Oysterbabe · 31/05/2015 11:56

Actually I think that's the earliest they can do the downs test so if you want that they do it at the same time as the dating scan. Dating scan should be 10 weeks onwards.
