Morning sickness- I'm trying to take advantage of my nausea this time and I'm going to try to use it to lose some weight before I hit the 12 week point- I'm hoping to lose just under half a stone in the next 6 or 7 weeks is possible. In previous 2 pregnancies I started heavier and ended ginormous with suspected GD the first time (luckily it wasn't though) so I'm really trying to be healthy this time round.

Lilliana · 30/05/2015 07:21

I was in for 2 nights after birth as DD wasn't feeding well. I refused to leave until I was confident at bf as I did not want to be in a situation at 2am when I couldn't feed her. Im so glad u did as I bf for a year and I'm intending to do the same again if I have to. I hate the idea of being chucked out before I'm ready

impatientlywaiting · 30/05/2015 07:48

Cubano, it definitely wouldn't be the only reason, but it is lovely. I think 8/13 of the rooms have their own water pool so if you want one it's likely they won't be full. I loved the fact it was so much like home. My sis had her 3rd there and she asked me to visit at 9:30pm, 3 hours after she had my niece. I took them in some champagne and her, her DH and the baby sat snuggled together in the sofa bed drinking a glass as I left, think they ordered a pizza too, seemed like bliss, she said it was better than a home birth as she got 24 hours off from her unruly DSs.

Juniper-hope the tummy ache subsided. I've had quite a bit of achy-ness and did last time too so was kind of expecting it. Plus I could literally explode with gas Shock

Marvelette · 30/05/2015 08:34

I've felt different the last couple of days, nausea seems to have passed and boobs not aching anymore. Is that normal? Or something to worry about? Am just seven weeks and this is my first pregnancy. Thank you!

brickiemum2 · 30/05/2015 08:38

The mw at my scan yesterday kept reminding me that symptoms come and go marvelette and that it means nothing.

Oh OK thanks Brickie! I almost missed the sickness for a minute! Now that I know it will probably be back at some point I'm not so sure Grin

Lookingforadvice123 · 30/05/2015 09:13

manatee my mum's always been really critical about weight (she clearly has some sort of hatred for overweight people) and this hasn't let up now that I'm pregnant! She actually took a slice of cheese which I'd put on my cracker off me at her house the other day! Im always slim but have put on about 5lbs since falling pregnant which I'm not happy about so it didn't exactly make me want to hug her! And even worse I've read online that this flippin' "harmless" cyst I've got on my ovary could make me look much bigger in the belly in pregnancy. Obviously I'm so grateful that the bean is ok but still!

Anyone else got back pain? For the last few days I've had mild but constant pain in my lower back when sitting, I've noticed that it's not there in the morning after a night's sleep so must be caused when I'm sat. Not sure if it's (a) actually a bad back as I do suffer with it but not this bad; (b) just a pregnancy pain; or (c) this sodding cyst again! Will have to ask when I have my hospital scan Monday.

Rant over! Sorry all I'm clearly in a mood today Angry

mrschatty · 30/05/2015 09:23

Aw looking :( I had really bad lower back pain yesterday but I was in a 3 hour car journey to see family! Other than that been ok! And nausea subsides to!
It's a big family party today- DM bday...I love her but I'm dreading it- I become Mrs grumpy around 10pm and the party is at the house I'm staying so can't retreat to a quiet place...I'm feeling sorry for myself but her no nausea today...yet!!

crumble74 · 30/05/2015 09:35

OMG looking If my mum had done that...oooh...I'm not sure I would have been quite so polite! Nobody stands between me & cheese!

I know it's not a free buffet when you're pregnant & common sense should prevail but I think at this time your body tells you what it needs so if it needs more calcium or iron on magnesium, etc it will probably express that in certain cravings. Smile

MissMartin1992 · 30/05/2015 10:06

crumble that's exactly What my dad said cravings are! expressions of what you body needs for this baby making process Grin

Blackandwhitecat3 · 30/05/2015 10:16

Ah Saturday morning! So many plans, so much nausea, heading for the sofa.... [sceptical]

Blackandwhitecat3 · 30/05/2015 10:17
Hmm
Readyforthefuture · 30/05/2015 10:53

Hi everyone, hoping I can join you all. I'm 7 weeks today, due 15th jan with my first. Very excited as we'd been ttc for 3 years and eventually got there through Iui. My first scan is on Tuesday, but nervous because I had two very strong follicles when I had iui, so very good chance of twins!

Also due to fly off on holiday on Thursday, a long haul flight while morning sickness is kicking my ass! Shock

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 30/05/2015 11:00

Welcome ready and congrats! Are you going somewhere nice and exotic for your holiday?

As for food and cravings, this little bean seems to like Marmite! Something which DH hates and so isn't happy that baby likes it, ha! Grin

moonshine25 · 30/05/2015 11:01

Oh blackandwhitecat I'm exactly the same, lying on the sofa feeling nauseous! Think it'll be a TV/sofa day at this rate...

Welcome and congratulations Ready! Hope the flight isn't too bad for you -we're going to Italy when I'll be 11 weeks so already dreading the flight and travelling!

Readyforthefuture · 30/05/2015 11:11

Thanks for the welcome. Off to Jamaica, we thought we'd treat ourselves before starting ivf- little did I think then that I'd be preggers! I've hit Amazon and bought acupressure bands, preggie pops and ginger chews, something has to work.

Personally having no cravings, can't stand the smell of food still, but I am occupying the popular position of laying on the sofa for the day. maybe, I'm with your dh on marmite, did you like it before?

coffeenut · 30/05/2015 11:12

Im on hols and have just skimmed through the lasy few days.

Im so so sorry to hear youve been bleeding parsnip. I hope youre doing ok & getting lots of support in rl.

coffeenut · 30/05/2015 11:17

Obs weighed me at my app on weds and I have put on 5 effing kilos. My mum (a gp) told me not to stress as its likely mostly water retention but still quite depressing!

Have decided to go ahead with the harmony test...

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 30/05/2015 11:25

Ready yes I liked it before, had a sniff of it and didn't feel any nausea so smeared some on toast. I wonder if further down the line I'll have any proper cravings!

Blimeygirl · 30/05/2015 11:52

Been away for a but just been busy! My nausea seems to be helped by biscuits! Defo not healthy but it works! I've put on a bit of weight but I probably needed to and it's probably water retention! 9 weeks tomorrow so it will pass soon, wishful thinking! Meant to be building a wall and then have a meeting later so obviously I'm sat on the sofa!

goodnessgraciousgouda · 30/05/2015 11:52

coffee - I wouldn't worry too much about the scales at the dr. It's fairly ridiculous that the doctors weigh people in the middle of the day, after people have had breakfast or just had lunch, been drinking fluids, are dressed...etc. I always weigh myself in the buff first thing in the morning and would expect a huge variation during the day. Also one word: constipation.

ready - I know what you mean re: feeling completely off food. Do try to force yourself to eat something plain if you can, even if it's just a small amount. I ate peanut flavoured crisps for about four days running, and then pitta breads. It's difficult to start, but the hunger pangs are so awful and hopefully you will feel much better afterwards. Fingers crossed for you and your holiday!!!

beemybaby - I really think you need to be speaking to your doctor. Losing half a stone in two months is not exactly a good idea when you're pregnant. Starving yourself is a bad idea, and you won't be able to do any intense exercise either. If you are worried about your weight, your doctor should be able to point you in the direction of some helpful resources, or refer you to a dietician.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 30/05/2015 13:19

Ha! nausea I have tricked you - been up and about and been to the garden centre, now having lunch (properly, with vegetables and everything, not just a snack) and about to attack the garden. I'm winning!

Bee I agree with Gouda weight loss in pregnancy is not ideal and if you are going to do it, needs to be managed carefully, especially as you need to make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need. Please see your doctor before trying to lose weight. Weight watchers (and I guess other slimming clubs) have slimming plans specifically for pregnancy.

Looking if someone had pinched my cheese I think I'd have punched them. Can't get enough cheese right now. Smile

All I want is a bacon sandwich .... Send DH to shop .... No bacon!!!
