Only if you've never had chicken pox before.

DeladionInch · 08/05/2015 18:49

I would, ditzzy but as much because I'd be fuming they thought it was OK to take an infectious child out in public like that - could be fatal for anyone with a compromised immune system or elderly who could develop shingles

BeautyBoo · 08/05/2015 18:56

ditzzy Have you had chickenpox before? If so then you're immune to it and have nothing to worry about it. The little boy shouldn't still be going to the party anyway though if he only came out in his spots a couple of days ago as usually they take 5-6 days to scab over and he shouldn't be out in public until then!

DoNotDenyMe · 08/05/2015 18:56

ditzzy, I mean to stay away if you've never had cp before. Totally agree deladion!

ambientolf · 08/05/2015 18:58

banter hope you're OK. Even if it's nothing it's still a really scary situation.

I have a bit if stretching/muscle pain today, I think (I hope). It's on my left hand side & quite low, it's quite painful twisting i.e. Getting out the car. I haven't had any aches & pains yet so I'm paranoid it's something else & its hurting my baby but I'm not in severe pain so don't think it's anything bad?

sauvblanc21 · 08/05/2015 19:03

Evening all, I've been avoiding the thread for a few days Blush as I was getting a little worried about feeling no movements and needed to step back and try to relax...
BUT had my 20 week scan today and little nibling was happy, healthy and moving about ALL OVER THE PLACE!! Grin Even the sonographer was chuckling when bub started kicking it's legs over its head, gorgeous! And got an hilarious pic of it! Anyhoo treacle I hope this may offer reassurance. Sonographer was completely nonplussed and unsurprised that I'd felt nothing and said it could still be a few weeks til I feel the nonstop movements of nibling! Phewf! Jessica, I'll be in contact for that coffee soon Smile

Ditzzy, I had same issue with a student with shingles at work - doc said wouldn't be a problem as I'd had chicken pox as a kid...

Treaclepie19 · 08/05/2015 20:05

That's great news sauv, glad all was well and thank you for the reassurance :)

I'm feeling a flipping sensation now and then which im wondering if that may be baby?
Anyway, scan monday so hopefully all will be well.
More worried about the aches and pains again :(
Sounds similar to yours though ambient.
I think this week baby is going through a growth spurt so it makes sense. I've just got quite a sharp pain in one particularly place tonight which is the worry.

Bring on Monday!

Oh I forgot to say treacle turned out I have an anterior placenta so that's probably why I haven't felt much movement either and the sonographer said its very common not to feel much at this stage. I'm in St Ives for the weekend so will be having some nice beach walks/pub lunches to take my mind off Tuesday's scan!

Treaclepie19 · 08/05/2015 21:07

Well after lots of moaning about not feeling him, I'm wondering if what im feeling tonight is baby?
Every now and then I'm getting this sort of flip sensation. If it is him he's very active.
Coupled with the sharp pain I am getting myself a bit worried though.

Thanks girls! I wondered if I was being a bit pfb (before she's even been b!)... As far as I know I've had chicken pox when I was little but then I was sure I'd had Rubella too and that blood test came out showing no immunity (and to be fair I spent half my childhood being covered in rashes and spots for one reason or another, so how would I ever know?!). I'm going to give the host a call in the morning and find out whether that family are still going and give it a miss if they are. Even DP agreed it's just not worth the risk (however small) and I thought he was going to think I was being daft!

Treacle - I've only just in the last week (23 weeks today) started feeling what I think are reliably baby movements - for me it feels as though a muscle is twitching in the stomach. Seems as though one little area twitches in and off for ten minutes or so then stops and starts up somewhere else. Maybe three or four positions in a session then she goes quiet for a few hours before starting again! Still feels weird but as long as I can picture her wiggling it's all good Grin

Jessica32 · 09/05/2015 16:05

Treacle definitely sounds like what you're feeling is baby to me! Mine started as a bit like tapping, then a bit flippy like you. Did that for quite a few weeks but I was earlier than you (18 ish) which is probably why it took a while to turn into anything much. Now 20+5 and just over a week ago got lots of strong frequent movements. Seemed to change all of a sudden, almost overnight so you may find that happens with you. You spend ages wondering and all of a sudden its really there!
Had my scan Wed too and all looked well. Baby was wriggling the whole time which was sweet. Did mean the lady took a while to get measurements and check everything. I also had tummy ache after.
Sauv message or txt whenever suits.

Lovely pic Jessica

Treaclepie19 · 09/05/2015 20:56

Aww lovely jessica :)

That's reassuring, i think it must be baby I'm feeling.

Can I just ask, with everyone's 20 week scans did you need a full bladder or not?
I thought we didnt but worried to turn up and be told I do.

ambientolf · 09/05/2015 21:24

treacle I didn't know either so just had a bit of water in the waiting room & she didn't mention it! Maybe just take a bottle with you incase, but don't bother holding it in like the 12 week one.

bonzo77 · 09/05/2015 21:35

The sonographer said she likes bladder half full at 20 weeks. A wee an hour before then 3 of the small plastic cups of water before the scan. Mine was not full enough so baby was too low in my pelvis. She got it to move by tilting the bed so my head was below my feet. Not that comfy but the baby moved into the right position. I wish they told you in the letter how much to drink and when.

Treaclepie19 · 09/05/2015 22:12

Thanks both :)
I might just give them a ring monday morning to see what they'd prefer.

Hi treacle at my scan I had been to the loo when I arrived then had a small cup of water and got sent out mid scan to have a wee so she could see baby's bottom!

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 10/05/2015 07:35

I had a wee before we left so about 90 mins beforehand and then didn't have much to drink in between. No probs with scan!

Just had a bit of a cry watching OBEM on catch-up... love the Greek guy!

ARV1981 · 10/05/2015 08:51

Hi, can I join? I'm 21+6 weeks today, due September 14th. This is my first baby. I've decided not to find out if it's a boy or a girl so does that make me team yellow?

ambientolf · 10/05/2015 09:19

lastnight I love OBEM I've watched every episode & series since being pregnant. Odly it's not put me off labour yet, I'm just excited for it! The terror will kick in soon I imagine.
