I gave in and called my midwife this morning to put my mind at rest as I keep having horrible cramps and aches everytime I move after I've been still for a while. She said it sounds like muscular pain and to just try and move slowly when getting out of bed/off the sofa, etc. Feeling a bit rubbish about it cause everytime it happens I feel like I'm hurting the baby! It's not as though I'm jumping off the sofa though or sprinting out of bed! It wakes me up quite a bit through the night as it's painful when I roll over and straighten my legs. Has anyone else had this?

20 week scan tomorrow, so so nervous but can't wait to see our little peanut again!

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 07/05/2015 14:29

Deladion I'd been wondering about her too. I know she'd said about leaving as it was making her too anxious but then seemed to hang on for a bit. Hope she's ok.

Snowflake15 · 07/05/2015 14:44

I've been thinking of worrywart too - if you're lurking I hope you're okCake

ovumahead · 07/05/2015 14:58

Re bio oil - just look at the ingredients - vile stuff! Absolutely packed full of cheap petrochemicals, totally unnatural. I use pure cocoa butter (smells like chocolate), shea butter, olive oil or coconut oil. All totally pure, natural and actually good for you! And not overly expensive either.

Went to vote this morning and realised that next time we do, in 2020, DP and I will either have an interested small person commenting on our voting choices or will have to do it in shifts Hmm I've got used to the idea of having a baby, but haven't wrapped my head around having a walking, talking child!

bonzo77 · 07/05/2015 17:14

Yep! 5 years ago I had a newborn in a pram. This time the same child did the cross for me and put the paper in the box!

missmillimentscardigan · 07/05/2015 17:24

Hi ladies, can I join you please, even though I'm a bit late to the party?! I'm 32 and expecting DC2 in September. DS is 2 years old. Am 21 weeks and don't know whether I'm having a girl or a boy. Thanks!

DeladionInch · 07/05/2015 17:32

hi missmilli Brew

ds had a fab time posting the bits of paper. last year I slung him (locals) this year I risked him pottering. toddlers are lots of fun, I find babies a bit dull Blush

missmillimentscardigan · 07/05/2015 17:38

Thank you, deladionlnch. DS will be coming to vote with DH and me shortly. It's crazy to think how much your life can change in 5 years!

Boodlymummy · 07/05/2015 17:57

Haha Missmilli we were saying same thing this morning!

DeladionInch · 07/05/2015 18:09

craftynanny · 07/05/2015 18:31

Hi Ladies! I had my 20 week scan today, all fine, they couldn't tell the sex because baby had ankles crossed and legs up!! anyway, I'm so sore now, I've found both the scans so far really uncomfortable and almost unbearable..do I need to just man up because that a just how they are?!Sad xx

bonzo77 · 07/05/2015 21:37

missmilli hi!

crafty i've certainly found all the external ones uncomfortable, like they're pushing really quite hard. They've been done by lots of different sonographers, so I suspect this is the correct technique. Not sure if it's related to one's build, ie is it sorer if you are slim as there's less padding, or sorer if you are not as they need to press harder to get through the fat layer? I'm was right in the middle of healthy BMI at the start, who knows?!

craftynanny · 07/05/2015 22:37

thanks bonzo77! I also missed out a. it of key info which was I had surgery on my tummy last year so wasn't sure if it's all a bit more sensitive than usual..I'd probably fit into that middle bracket too, I'm not over weight but got a curve or two!!
x

monkeymoonpig · 07/05/2015 23:13

I found the 20wk scan quite uncomfortable as well, i have plenty of padding and it waa quite sore at times. Got the real impression that baby wasnt too pleased about it :-(

craftynanny · 07/05/2015 23:31

Yer me too monkey, baby had its hands over it a face and legs all tucked up..I don't think it appreciated being shaken a lot by the lady..I don't blame her, I wouldn't like it either! back in just over a week for another goConfused

misssmilla1 · 08/05/2015 00:19

My 20 week scan was also uncomfortable. The sonographer could't get a good view of the heart so the consultant took over - he was pushing and squeezing like nothing else, I was actually quite surprised and it was uncomfortable. I also suffered with excruciating back pain as it turns out I was lieing on that nerve they tell you not to - nearly passed out as a result

DoNotDenyMe · 08/05/2015 10:06

Good morning ladies. I had my 20wk scan on Wed... all went perfect Grin
I have an endo-anal scan this morning though to assess the extent of my scarring from the birth off dd 3yrs ago (3b tear). This is the one I'm dreading Blush
If all is ok down there I'll get to go for anther vaginal birth... if not, it'll be elcs.
They're already running late... doesn't help with the nerves Sad

amusville · 08/05/2015 10:11

I've had 6 scans of various things, and none were painful but my first was very uncomfortable with my very full bladder. O think it depends on body size and where your little one is lying, if it's further back or behind your pibic bone they will have to push harder. That bring said on sure some sonogrsphers are naturally more heavy handed. I'm sure the previous surgery will also be contributing to the pain as well. You can always say at the start of your next appointment that you found the last one painful, they might just go a bit easier on you.

banterbus · 08/05/2015 10:12

Had 20 week scan this morning. Everything looking normal apart from some excess fluid near the bladder so I have been booked for a scan with a specialist on Tuesday. Trying really hard not to worry but I burst into tears as soon as I left the hospital! It's going to be a long weekend for me...

ovumahead · 08/05/2015 12:40

banter it's so hard not to worry isn't it?! Just try to remember that worrying won't change anything... Much easier said than done though. Can you plan a few distracting things in for this weekend?

misssmilla1 · 08/05/2015 14:39

After a few kicks two days ago, he's gone v quiet but seemed to perk up late last night watching the election results (probably bored senseless..) My stomach appears to have ballooned and I'm feeling v uncomfortable like my skin is at maximum stretching point and won't go further. Still can't sleep properly as i'm getting too hot now it's warming up.

Cheered myself up yesterday by buying the first baby thing which I've had my eye on for ages, which is a teddy bear for him Grin

missmillimentscardigan · 08/05/2015 14:57

Sorry to hear you need to have another scan, banter. At least you don't have to wait long and hopefully it will all be ok.

ditzzy · 08/05/2015 17:29

Lovely to be reading news of all the healthy babies showing up on scams at the moment Grin good luck for your extra one on Tuesday banter - they always seem to like to be extra cautious with all of us so hopefully the specialist will reassure you.

Quick straw poll needed here: I'm meant to be attending a party tomorrow afternoon and evening, but I've just found out one of the other guests (a one year old boy) was diagnosed with chicken pox a couple of days ago! If he's still going I need to stay away don't I?

ditzzy · 08/05/2015 17:29

Hmmmmm iPhone typing - hoping none of the scans have been scams!!!!
