Thanks both!

Everyone has been so pleased about my placenta position clarifying enough to avoid a section that I hadn't given it another thought! I think I'll just have to chat it through with them tomorrow and make sure the plan says something along the lines of giving up on induction quickly if it looks like it's not working. I'd rather take the bigger hit on my body upfront though and recover quicker than have a gentler option with longer recovery - so all things being equal I think the induction route suits me better.

Realising of course that the best laid plans and all that Grin and if my BP shoots up at the first step of induction then I guess the choice won't be mine anyway!!

ShootTheMoon · 16/08/2015 09:41

Whatever works for you! Good luck today and tomorrow.

Anyone else suffering awful pregnancy insomnia? I'm shattered all day and fall asleep quickly, then around 4am every day I wake and it's so difficult to get back to sleep - usually around 6! Two more days of work to get through...

ShootTheMoon · 17/08/2015 07:33

Good luck today ditzzy. Hope you're being fed enough in hospital. I felt like they had me on a starvation diet.

ditzzy · 17/08/2015 10:09

Thanks Shoot! They tried to sneak breakfast passed me (they'd already fed the induction bay ward before the side rooms and were in the process of moving me past the breakfast trolley when I spotted it!!) but I wasn't having them get away with that one. DP also left me a good supply of minirolls Grin

First gel in, let's see if it does anything...

Treaclepie19 · 17/08/2015 10:20

Good luck dittzy! Thinking of you :)

ooh the cheeky buggers, I remember that they did that to me too!

I will never forget being 2 days post-partum, and breastfeeding a ravenous child. They offered me a (tiny) bowl of cereal or a breadroll and I bloody well asked for both! And they feed you at crazy early hours, so lunch is over by midday and I spent the whole day waiting for dinner at about 5pm. Starving by mid evening! Do make sure you have enough food, especially if people can bring you reasonably healthy food with actual nutrients in. I ordered a lot of curry because it was made off site and contained actual vegetables. I wouldn't necessarily advise that before birth though Wink

misssmilla1 · 17/08/2015 15:08

Good luck Ditzzy! If you're staying in for any length of time, might be worth finding out if they have an Upper Crust or similar anywhere on site. When my mum was in hospital for a long term stay, it was a life saver for us and for her - better than the crappy ward meals!

I'm nearly 35 weeks and starting to feel it; have chronic indigestion on and off, am doing the pregnant lady side to side waddle / shuffle (much to the amusement of the OH), can't sit in the car and pull the passenger door closed without assistance and gave up on proper shoes a while ago, just glad it's hot enough here for flipflops / sandals. On that note tho it's 34C atm, it can't end soon enough!

ShootTheMoon · 17/08/2015 16:39

misssmilla 35 weeks here too and I have the waddle - and the groaning. Are you doing the groaning and huffing when you stand up/sit down/otherwise change position?

I'm really struggling with PGP which isn't really a surprise as I have hypermobility syndrome, but it's affecting my sleep which doesn't help.

It's actually my last day at work tomorrow so suddenly everything is feeling much more real!

Treaclepie19 · 17/08/2015 16:52

Same ladies! 35+2 here and feeling it.
Bedtime is a fight to get comfy and then the multiple bathroom trips are just added fun :p

We're nearly there!!!

OP posts:
ShootTheMoon · 17/08/2015 16:54

treacle you're so right, the bathroom trips don't help with the insomnia!

I am horribly aware that I could feasibly have another 6 weeks of this (35+4) - though hopefully a bit less as DD came at 40+6 (though they moved my dates further back this time around).

I suspect I may be on crutches if it goes on that long! I am so bloody grateful that it's not as hot as it might be - the week of hot weather made me incredibly grouchy!

Treaclepie19 · 17/08/2015 16:57

Oh no shoot :(

Im already feeling housebound as mobing around is painful so hoping not to go overdue but who knows what will happen. They will let me go 10 days overdue so I could have another 6 weeks and 1 day of this... I feel like im wishing the weeks away :p Even though as a ftm I feel quite unprepared!

ooh, if it's that bad, you need physio! You can ask for an urgent referral, certainly you should be given a belt and some advice about exercises. I am having physio and he's taping my SI joints to give a bit of support - I'm noticably worse today now that the tape is off!

You have my sympathy, it's a real PITA, isn't it!

Treaclepie19 · 17/08/2015 22:48

I've been referred but they've been useless :(
I had one appointment where they gave me some exercises then they cancelled my next appointment.
Took ages for me to get another as the woman I was meant to see had left and they hadn't told me. Then when I finally got one he just said to continue the exercises and phone back if I thought I needed crutches :/
Absolutely useless.

I just keep thinking, it's not that long.
I've had it since really early on, should've pushed them more really.

ditzzy · 18/08/2015 06:21

Oooo I've definitely been lucky in the moving stakes then. I hadn't realised the both of you were struggling Sad I'd slowed down a lot but still mobile.

Three doses of gel yesterday and I went from Starting at a Bishops score of zero to being 1 last night when they put the third one in. I'm pretty sure that was just the night shift midwife being generous too!! Same again today, let's see if we can get a bit more action though...

amusville · 18/08/2015 07:37

Good luck ditzzy! I too am on the groaning club. Just this week my hands and feet have started to swell up. Last week at work thankfully as yesterday by 3.30 I was in agony and refused to do any more till I got to sit for a while. Next few days should hopefully be easier. I just want to get this baby out now 35+3 today.

ShootTheMoon · 18/08/2015 07:50

Ooh amusville, watch out for RSI if you have a lot of swelling in your hands, I remember that from last time. Had swelling feet for a while her e too (there's always a groove in my foot when I take my shoes off - yuck!). And my hands are swollen enough that I can't wear my rings, but not visibly swollen. The indignity of bloody pregnancy Confused.

treacle if you are suffering and have any spare cash at all I highly recommend a sports physio - will be £40-60 depending on where you live but the relief will be immediate. Exercises are important but they need to get you started by straightening out your pelvis or relieving muscle spasm.

ditzzy how are you coping? Sounds like it's not having much affect yet? At least you are starting from a rested state I suppose! I hope today is the day Smile

misssmilla1 · 18/08/2015 13:47

A big yes to the accompanying groaning / huffing and puffing!

Spent this morning dealing with rising nausea and lots of kicks, am counting down the days til I can start my leave!

Is anyone else finding it difficult to turn over in bed? I feel like a beetle stuck on it's back half the time, waving my arms and legs ineffectively in the air Grin

The thought of it being like this for another 4-7 weeks depending on whether it's a csection or not (and let's face it, it's only going to get worse before it gets better) makes it seem like a lifetime!

My other pressing need is to figure out where to put stuff in our very small kitchen. We bought bottles in case we need them, and got loads of formula samples sent through which I want to keep, but am rapidly running out of cupboard space. I sense a project for the start of maternity leave!

ShootTheMoon · 18/08/2015 14:05

misssmilla oh a definite yes to the stranded beetle feeling. I so can't wait until the baby arrives and I can lie on my stomach again. The first time you do it, it feels very strange, and all... flobbly.

We are struggling to find room for the baby's clothes as lots of our spare storage is full of baby toys and baby clothes from DD, some of which we can reuse, but we've been given bags and bags of clothes from others. I still need to get the cloth nappies out and freshen them up. Got the car seat out and it was bloody mouldy on the straps - I told DH not to store it in the garage but he wouldn't have it, so that was another £140 we had to find. Plus, it is past its 5 year manufacturing date (but not our purchase date iyswim) so we decided not to risk it.

ditzzy · 18/08/2015 18:32

The beetle effect definitely applies trying to get in and out of hospital beds!! The gel might not be doing entirely what it's meant to (Bishops score now 2 - so at least it's going the right way!) but it's definitely making my legs and entire lower half a hey and stiff.

Have had total of 5 gels now which is all I e been prescribed. Have to have consultants opinion on whether to carry on tomorrow, have rest day tomorrow and carry on on Thursday or try something different...

Treaclepie19 · 18/08/2015 18:49

Thanks shoot, I'll look into it.

Yes to the beetle feeling!!!
Plus I keep waking up on my side and leaning quite far onto bump... hope I'm not squishing him.

Hope the consultant is useful tomorrow dittzy!

Been back to the doctors today thinking I'd got another uti, nope, just baby pressing on everything.

When will they decide today ditzzy?

ditzzy · 19/08/2015 16:59

Daisy born today at 0958, 5lbs 7 oz - ended up with c-section. Will write more when co-ordination a bit better Grin

ShootTheMoon · 19/08/2015 17:02

Congratulations ditzzy - I hope you recover quickly and she thrives. Aww, a squishy baby Smile. Take care of yourself!!

GoooRooo · 19/08/2015 18:54

Huge congratulations Ditzzy!
