I haven't had Braxton hicks either.

I'm feeling very worried as approaching 32 weeks (Monday) and my twin sister's daughter was stillborn at 32 weeks... I just feel I need to get past that hurdle to feel ok about everything. It's my milestone.

Baby doesn't seem very active a lot of the time, but it seems normal for me so I'm not going to bother triage with it... just wish it would move every 5 mins or so, so I wouldn't worry so much! If I don't feel it for a bit I panic. My husband gets cross with me for trying to wake it up, says I'm being mean to it, but I'd rather be reassured! Am I being mean?

Been getting heartburn quite badly. Keeps me awake most of the night. Dr won't give me anything stronger than gaviscon so I think a few more sleepless nights are on the cards for me over the next few weeks... then a few more with a newborn! I guess I'll just have to get used to no sleep!

Finish work next Thursday, and have today off. Grin Going to see my sister's new house today - most exciting!

Hope you're all ok?

DoNotDenyMe · 17/07/2015 23:04

Hi ARV, I can understand your wanting to get past that 32 wk mark after what's happened. How truly awful for your sister.
I don't think it's mean to try to get baby to move - it doesn't necessarily mean you're waking them up - just making them fidget Wink I do it all the time!

DeladionInch · 18/07/2015 06:56

ARV look after your own mental wellbeing, it's just as important as your physical health. I didn't see a Dr for omeprazole, just rand the surgery and said the mw had suggested it. Prescription was ready that evening

Treaclepie19 · 19/07/2015 09:44

I keep falling off!
Getting close now, 8 weeks 6 days to go :)

Oooh, I can get omeprazole without seeing a Dr! That is a relief! Seeing midwife tomorrow so will raise it with her then. Hopefully that will do the trick. Was horrifically sick all night last night. It's awful.

And thank you DoNotDenyMe - it does seem like a big deal for me to get past that date, even though it's totally arbitrary really. My twin has been incredibly supportive of me and my pregnancy even though she hasn't gone on to have another dc of her own. Losing her daughter was devastating for us all - she was the first of the next generation in our family so much anticipated and loved.

Glad you don't think I'm being mean to my baby - I just can't seem to settle unless it's moving a little.

bonzo77 · 19/07/2015 19:49

Totally fell off the thread, haven't yet caught up, but here's my news..

Had some extra monitoring last weekend due to reduced movement, but all fine. My next foetal medicine scan is this Thursday: DS1 is very excited to come with and see the baby. I'll be 32 weeks that day. So far they are happy with baby's growth, though he is following the 25th percentile instead of the 50th.

In a pique of optimism I have booked the kitchen fitters for the week after our holiday, when I will be I think around 36 weeks, hoping the baby will stay put till then. we will be without a useable kitchen for 3 weeks, though my Mum has volunteered for feeding kids and doing laundry. If baby arrives during that time then at least DH will be home on paternity leave, so actually the logistics will be easier: i.e he managing everything except for me and the new baby. Rather than me being 8 months pregnant and dealing with everything.

Not convinced I am getting Braxton Hicks, never had them with the previous 2. Having googled I think they are pretty distinctive and one would know if they were happening.

Right, off to catch up....

bonzo77 · 19/07/2015 19:55

ARV I don't blame you for your anxiety: you are not being mean. Believe me you will do the same once baby is here, checking it's still breathing and accidentally waking it up! I find if I lie on a hard surface (floor or kitchen table) on my side (either one), I feel movement quite quickly.

Bh make me think I need to pee Blush

Jessica32 · 20/07/2015 15:03

Hello everyone, I've not been on for ages as was moving house. Been in a week and all chaos here. Trying to do a lot at the same time so it's done before the baby. Finding it v hard not to do too much but have to take it easy now as made myself a bit ill. My own fault so can't complain.

31 weeks today and have had Braxton hicks for a while. I agree with shootthemoon that they feel like you've been winded. I've been describing them as pressure on my diaphragm and wanting to take huge breaths. Definitely don't feel like anything else I've experienced.

We are having a 4d scan on Sunday. DP's idea. I'm more than happy to have it but wouldn't have gone to the trouble of my own accord. It's sweet he's so excited.

Best wishes to everyone. X

Currently 37C here so haven't really moved or done anything where there isn't aircon.

It's all starting to feel a bit real now - went for the first baby related class last week (CPR) which was really useful as it covered some basic first aid and car seat fitting.

Went on a tour of the maternity unit on Saturday which was great. The nurse who was leading it was fab (also turns out she's the head lactation consultant) and took us through how to admit, triage rooms, delivery and post delivery tour. Made me laugh that the delivery room has a sofa for partners that rolls in to a bed, tv, and wifi throughout - live birth stream anyone Shock

They have an operating theatre and NICU in the unit so she also talked us through how that works. The only real downside is the approach which is on your back on the bed. Looking forward to discussing an actual plan with my Dr in the coming weeks.

ARV1981 · 21/07/2015 06:28

Hi... turns out I have been having Braxton hicks after all. I had to be monitored at the hospital on Sunday night and they said I was getting them then! I didn't even realise, I just thought the bump went hard every now and then... they're uncomfortable but not painful.

ShootTheMoon · 21/07/2015 09:26

ARV, hope all was ok with monitoring but yes, that's BHs!

ARV1981 · 21/07/2015 19:43

Oh, yes, thank you moon! Baby was declared ok after about an hour of monitoring. I fell down the stairs Blush so wanted reassurance.

Treaclepie19 · 23/07/2015 14:14

Hope we're all ok. I'm having quite regular braxton hicks. Ouch!
Not long to wait now ladies :)

Ooooh! I fell off. Glad all is well.

misssmilla1 · 23/07/2015 15:10

31 weeks today, it's flown by! Went for a regular check up yesterday, he's back in breech and is measuring big -both weight wise and his femur length is 2 weeks ahead Shock Dr isn't worried about it, just says he's likely to be tall which is funny as neither of us, or are our extended family are.

Interesting to note the differences now between the US and UK; speaking to my Dr, she won't deliver breech babies vaginally, it's c section only, and does not use forceps as part of delivery. She also said that there's a cut off weight for babies where they don't recommend vaginal birth as an option, due to the size.

Be interesting as a result, to see how this all progresses...

ditzzy · 23/07/2015 18:27

34 week midwife appointment today! All looking happy - although she did double check that I'd had the double dose of steroids when I was in hospital the other week; at the time I was describing the huge quantity of snot consistency discharge I had yesterday (sorry -TMI!) and she reckoned it was the beginning of a show Shock apparently it doesn't mean anything is likely to happen yet, just a reminder of the instruction to leg it back to the hospital if there's any trace of blood!

She asked if baby's movements were ok, and when I laughed she said 'oh, a wiggler?' and then baby proved the point by wiggling straight off the heart beat listen-y thingy Grin

Starting to feel real GrinGrinGrin

bonzo77 · 23/07/2015 19:00

32 weeks here. Growth scan again today, all looking fine. Consultant happy for me to go to Norfolk for a weeks holiday next month and has arranged a scan for a few days before we go. But she's clearly optimistic as she's also booked my section for 39 weeks. Actually it's 39+1 as we are meant to be having our work tops fitted the day before! All feels real now. Need to get a mattress for the Moses basket, a bottle steriliser, teats and a baby monitor. Oh and nappies and formula. That's it!

ditzzy · 23/07/2015 20:00

Excellent news bonzo - and have a great time in Norfolk! We went there for DPs birthday weekend in December, and look where that's got me now!!!

Treaclepie19 · 24/07/2015 07:55

That's great bonzo :)

I may be having an elcs so trying to get my head round the whole thing. I think my main worry (stupidly) is that dh will have to leave and me and baby will be in hospital. With me as a ftm not having a clue what im doing.

Anyway, going to the doctors this morning as I've got uti symptoms that haven't shifted with antibiotics. Then packing as we're going to Criccieth in Wales for a week from tomorrow :)

ditzzy Hello Smile

It's Loopyla here (nc recently) but just wanted to let you know I've finally got preggers again after our cps! Only 5+4 (due March 2016) so early days but feels good.

Also wanted to wish you well for the next month or so, hope it goes brilliantly for you. Good luck Smile

As you were September crew, sorry for the gate crash Grin

bonzo77 · 24/07/2015 20:14

Ooh celen lovely news. I was only just thinking earlier of the September crew members who wouldn't be completing their journeys with us. Fingers very much crossed for you.

Celen · 24/07/2015 20:26

I was the founder of the August bus but had to quickly get off it!

The lovely ditzzy had a cp the same time as me but must have fallen pregnant the month after.

Thanks very much bonzo, and wishing you all gorgeous squishy newborns soon!

Treaclepie19 · 24/07/2015 21:52

Oh lovely news celen, congratulations :)
I'm on the pregnant after mc thread and you'd be more than welcome to join if you wanted :)

celen that's great news!! Congrats!! Smile

Baby is being ultra hard (??) when moving this evening. I can see him scraping past - that's also the only way I can describe it - not fast kicking like it used it be. I'm assuming as his skeleton becomes more solid & he keeps putting chub on its going to get worse... Eek! I do love the feeling though, even if it does hurt, it amazes me every time!

33+1 today and I cannot wait to meet him! It's amazing the love I feel already for something that isn't "here" yet.
