Oo I don't think I ever gave my stats;

Age: 26
DC: 1
TTC : 10 months
EED 25/01/16
BFP : 15/05/15

Jealous of all you ladies having the private scans, 12 weeks feels ages away ??

Welcome Donna, wow 5 already ! You certainly have your hands full

Report
parsnipbob · 19/05/2015 08:45

Bluebird we have the same EDD :)

Haven't decided to have private scan yet. I'm only 4 weeks so assuming everything is still intact at 7 weeks I might arrange one then. 12 weeks is a really long time!

I feel like I can't think of anything else at the moment, good thing my job is not particularly high pressured. Having loads of family issues at the moment though so I hope the stress doesn't affect my bean :(

Coffee sorry about your migraine!

Looking I'm sure everything is fine, pains are quite normal at this stagei believe. Had terrible AF style cramps in bed last night but they seem to have gone now.

Report
OTheHugeManatee · 19/05/2015 08:52

looking as far as I know cramps are normal, it's only if they are accompanied by fever type symptoms, steady spotting or shoulder pain you should call the doctor.

Welcome new people! We're going to need a new thread soon Smile

Morning all.

I had a rubbish night's sleep due to my cramping. I keep thinking going to the loo will help, even though it never does. But I'd set my alarm for a 6am swim, so swimming I went. I figured I wouldn't feel any crapper for going. I do feel a bit better, plus I'm using my swim to justify eating too many peanuts.

But then from my nerdy hcg calculations (based on doubling every two days and assuming I had bhcg of 25 when got my first cb digi 1-2 weeks) I've not got enough hcg to get one for another couple of days wow I sound massively obsessed I cannot wait to get one as didn't make it to 3+ last time. If I go by date of ovulation\conception it puts me at 5 weeks not 6 as I don't ovulate till CD 19/20 is that a better way of calculating than LMP?

I missed a conversation about goats cheese! I bloody love goat's cheese, especially feta, and have still been eating it. I managed to find a pasteurised version in the supermarket over here. I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't have the same in the UK. If it's pasteurised then you can eat it uncooked (I think someone queried that a few pages ago), it's only if it isn't that you have to cook it.

I threw up for the first time today and it was awful. I haven't even been feeling particularly nauseous up until now.

Feeling pretty pissed off with all the websites that say "never let your stomach get empty and eat something bland as soon as you get up". I've been doing that, did that this morning, got up and immediately had a slice of bread and a slice of cheese, and then an hour later....bam. What the fuck?

CHEESE PLEASE

Soft, mould-ripened cheeses, such as brie, camembert and chevre (a type of goat's cheese) are not safe to eat in pregnancy. Soft, blue-veined cheeses, such as danish blue and roquefort, are also not considered safe to eat in pregnancy.

Hard, blue-veined cheeses, such as stilton, are less likely to contain listeria than soft, mould-ripened cheeses. In fact, the NHS says that stilton is safe to eat when you're pregnant.

However, though the risk of listeria contamination in hard, blue-veined cheeses is very low, it can't be ruled out. You may find it easier, and more reassuring, not to eat any blue cheeses, unless they're cooked.

Even if soft, mould-ripened and blue-veined cheeses are made from pasteurised milk, they still aren't considered safe to eat. That's because they are more moist and less acidic than other cheeses, which provides the perfect environment for listeria bacteria to grow.

If you become infected with listeria, you can get an illness called listeriosis. This causes flu-like symptoms several weeks after you've been exposed to the bacteria, though you may not have any symptoms at all.

Even though listeriosis is usually a fairly mild illness for a mum-to-be, it can cause serious health problems for an unborn baby. It can even lead to miscarriage, or in about one in five cases, the loss of a baby at birth.

Be reassured that listerosis is rare. In 2011, there were an estimated 147 cases of listeriosis in England and Wales, 27 of which were in pregnant women. If you are pregnant, you have a higher risk of developing listeriosis. This is because your body's natural defences against the listeria bacteria are weaker during pregnancy. But this risk is still low.

You can still eat soft, mould-ripened or blue-veined cheeses if you cook them thoroughly, such as oven-baked camembert, as this will kill any bacteria. Just make sure you've cooked the cheese until it's piping hot throughout, and not just melted.

All hard cheeses, even if they are made with unpasteurised milk, are generally considered safe to eat. This includes parmesan. There is only a very small amount of listeria bacteria in hard cheeses, so they are not considered a risk during pregnancy.

Here's a guide to which cheeses are safe and which are unsafe during pregnancy:

Safe cheeses in pregnancy

Hard cheeses: smoked versions, caerphilly, cheddar, cheshire, derby, double gloucester, edam, emmental, English goat's cheddar, feta, gouda, gruyere, halloumi, havarti, jarlsberg, lancashire, manchego, orkney, paneer, parmesan, pecorino (hard), provolone and red leicester.
Soft, processed cheeses, if made with pasteurised milk: garlic and herb roulade, cottage cheese, cream cheese, feta, goat's cheese without rind, mascarpone, mozzarella, processed cheese such as cheese spread and cheese segments, quark and ricotta.
Yoghurts: probiotic yoghurt and milk drinks, fromage frais, soured cream and creme fraiche, including natural, flavoured and live versions.

Unsafe cheeses in pregnancy

Mould-ripened soft cheeses (pasteurised and unpasteurised): brie, blue brie, cambozola, camembert, chaumes, chevre (goat's cheese with a white rind), pont l'eveque, taleggio and vacherin fribourgeois.
Blue-veined cheeses: bergader, bleu d'auvergne, blue wensleydale, shropshire blue, danish blue, dolcelatte, gorgonzola, roncal, roquefort and tomme.
Soft, unpasteurised cheese: goat's and sheep's cheeses chabichou, pyramide and torta del cesar.
