Oh and that makes me 5wk+4

nervous and happy!!

CharChar2015 · 18/05/2015 08:09

Hey all - yeah I'd definitely say step away from the tests! You'll drive yourself crazy. When I had my miscarriage I had seriel HCG bloods done and it was 1 month before my levels dropped back to 0... So in that whole month I would have had a positive pregnancy test, had I tested Shock

Valancy - I'd see how you go but if you have anything that bad again id get checked out. Cramps are normal but that sounded a bit more than cramps!!

4+2 here so just enjoying that short period of knowing I'm pregnant before I feel like total crap haha. And trying not to worry about miscarriage like I think everyone else is too

coffeenut · 18/05/2015 08:11

welcome sleepy Smile

valancy it may have just have been a stomach bug/upset? I think if was that bad I would get it checked though.

addstudentdinners2 · 18/05/2015 08:26

valancy I'm sure it's nothing, but why don't you phone your GP in the first instance to see what they say? You can't be too careful with ectopic, when my best friend had hers it was all over pain and she thought it was a tummy bug. Not to scare you as I'm sure it's all fine, but can't hurt to check it out :)

SleepyDragon · 18/05/2015 08:41

thank you coffeenut Grin

Here's the link from earlier in the thread in case anyone is looking for it spacefem.com/pregnant/mc.php?m=08&d=10&y=12 this]]

CharChar2015 · 18/05/2015 08:50

It actually made me feel worse as I had my miscarriage at 9 weeks!

OrangeBeehive · 18/05/2015 09:00

Morning all, this thread is moving quickly - welcome to all newcomers and congratulations Idris, twins is (are?) amazing news!

7+2 here and slowly starting to feel more tired and a bit more sick but it's coming in waves throughout the day. The biggest surprise of pregnancy so far has been the symptoms. I was expected tiredness, nausea etc to hit me like a wall and it's gradually crept up on me and still isn't as bad as I thought it would be TBH.

I second stepping away from tests and thermometers after BFP for your own sanity! I took many tests after finding out (guess that's common!) but there are so many variables and even the smallest changes can cause stress. I found taking BBT while TTC particularly stressful because I'd over-analyse every result - for the last 2/3 months I just used it for 3/4 days a month to establish ovulation was happening (and the month we conceived I ditched it all together, although I'm certain that was coincidental!) Got too tired of the disappointment from seeing the inevitable dip before the period.

One question... I booked my midwife appointment last Monday. Should I have received a 12 week scan appointment through the post, or does the midwife book you in for the scan during/after your appointment? Or does it vary region to region? I'm in West Yorks if it helps!

mrsfazruns · 18/05/2015 09:30

Orange I got my scan spot through within 2 days of visiting gp but Itd the gp who books it here (oxfordshire)!!! When have you got the midwife? Why don't yku call your gp reception .... My receptionist new more about booking it than the doc!!

I second with everyone else .... Step away from tests!!! I had brown spotting all the way through to 9 weeks with a hugely positive BFP up till the day they confirmed my oregnancy wasn't viable!!! And I STILL was getting hugely positive BFP 9 WEEKS after the day of MC!! Hcg is a pain of a hormone!! MC can crawl up on any one of us and after having one and starting this pregnancy stressing about having another I decided it wasn't worth spending the first third of my pregnancy stressed .... Therefore adding extra stress to the baby!!! Enjoy this time xxx

Tonicandgin · 18/05/2015 09:31

Orange - I'm in Cheshire, but here the mw books you in for the scan during the booking appointment.

Tonicandgin · 18/05/2015 09:37

Just booked our summer holiday! It's just a few weeks away, but I'm feeling really sick today (and was willing dd not to poo before nursery. Thankfully she didn't). Last time, morning sickness (nausea mainly) lasted until 2-3pm every day, and just hoping it doesn't this time. We have a villa, so at least I can eat what I fancy when I fancy.

Does anyone else think the food 'rules' around pregnancy have changed or I may have been really strict last time I thought you couldn't eat prawns or seafood, and could eat chorizo? But it's apparently the other way round, which is weird. Plus you can eat most cheese except those with white rind, you can even eat Stilton? Don't remember that either as I love that stinky cheese.

Belly is massively bloated so I'll look nicely rotund for our holiday.

OrangeBeehive · 18/05/2015 09:57

Thanks Tonic and MrsFaz...guess it's the same as Cheshire then, as when I rang surgery they booked me straight in with the midwife and said I didn't need to see GP first. I'm seeing the midwife a week on Thursday when all being well I will be 8+5 and just wondering with NHS waiting times whether my scan will be at 12 weeks or later!

coffeenut · 18/05/2015 10:01

Current guidelines here say avoid all deli meats (including chorizo, ham etc), any hard cheese is okay, all soft cheese is okay as long as cooked, and all seafood is okay if thoroughly cooked (except for cooked chilled prawns). When I was preg with DD1 in the Uk, they said avoid eating seafood out as the risk of undercooking and food poisoning is quite high.

jelly of your summer hol. I'm booking a snow trip!

SleepyDragon · 18/05/2015 10:09

Can i ask..... when i found out, i phoned my GP and they said i don;t need an immiediate appointment anymore if i have done my oent tests and that my first appointment will be my booking appointment at 6 - 8 weeks? Subsequenlty i'm not seeing anyon till 5 June when i will be around 7 weeks

is that right?

SleepyDragon · 18/05/2015 10:10

oh, sorry, i think oranges post just told me the answer

apologies.

parsnipbob · 18/05/2015 10:11

Sleepy I thought that was standard but as it happens I just phoned my GP and they asked me to come in today! Bizarre as I'm barely 4 weeks and my AF is due today but I'm not going to argue...

mrsfazruns · 18/05/2015 10:30

Orange I think there are set guidelines on scans that they need to be done no later than a certain time!! I don't know what that time is (something tells me 14 weeks) but I do think they try to get you in!! Mine is at 12+2!!! Having a private scan on Saturday though for some reassurance x

SleepyDragon · 18/05/2015 10:56

thanks pars the receptionist made me feel a bit stupid so thought i would check....

me: hi i've just found out i am pg and i would like to book an appointment with the GP or Nurse

her: What for?

Me: ummmmmm

her: why are you ringing, you don't get first appointments to confirm it anymore you only get 6 - 8wk appointments (sigh)

me: sorry, this is the first time i've done this so i dont exactly have that experience or knowledge (sarcastic i know but i couldn't help it, her tone was so 'you are thick')

parsnipbob · 18/05/2015 11:02

Sleepy that is so rude, what a horrid woman!!

Maybe it's to do with area. I Iive in London so maybe they want me booked in for stuff early as it's so busy here. Either that or the receptionist misunderstood me!

OTheHugeManatee · 18/05/2015 11:03

Just called the surgery back and they've moved my MW appointment forward by 3 weeks so I'll be seen when I'm 8+3 (ie in a couple of weeks) rather than 11+3. I was feeling slightly abandoned before so am relieved now! Going to make enquiries now about getting an early private scan; I've no reason to fret really but I just want to know everything's OK Smile

mrsfazruns · 18/05/2015 11:03

Don't apologise for the sarcasm sleepy .... That was nice compared to what o would have said!!! Cheeky mare .... Some people either need to remember or understand that pregnancy is a vulnerable time and attitudes like that don't help x

EdgarAllenPoe · 18/05/2015 11:10

I must admit to being a little jealous of all you ladies who know your booking in date and your 12 week scan date.

As mentioned, my gp surgery won't even give me the contact details for our local midwife service. I have to wait for them to call me some time in week 10. So I feel a little left out. I know there's nothing really to be doing at this stage, but I'd at least appreciate having a phone number to call, or a date to look forward to. I'm 6+1 and I'm not expecting them to call me before mid June. It feels a long way off!

Still super crampy, but no spotting so trying not to worry.

SleepyDragon · 18/05/2015 11:12

pars i am 'greater london' (lol) well, Havering actually...... i felt such a doofus lol!

mrsfazruns or relaise that for some people its the first time lol!

parsnipbob · 18/05/2015 11:15

I think I am going to book myself in for an early private scan too. Worth the hundred quid for some peace of mind I think. I have major anxiety issues so if I'm kept in the dark I go spare!

Just got my cb digital positive :)

parsnipbob · 18/05/2015 11:16

Sleepy most of my friends went to havering sixth form college :)
