Christmas and new years babies thread!

CuppaSarah · 19/04/2015 10:41

Just got my bfp positive today and am thinking we need a thread for all the babies that will be born around new years and Christmas. I'm due new years eve and just know I'll be sick of the comments real quick! So we can vent and plan low stress xmases together.

I know we have the December thread and will have the January one, but why the hell not there's room for everyone!

Sorry you both aren't feeling great NoArmarni and horseylady. It really is demoralising to feel so rubbish for so long. Hopefully once the heat passes you'll both feel a bit less sick and tired.

What was the midwife argument about? I hope you won.

Really loving the name choices. Zachariah is a lovely name and Madeline is one of my favriotes, but dh doesn't love it. I have never once thought oops a tragic event happened to a child of that name, better stear clear. I'm not sure many people would realistically.

Hope you win too horseylady - that sounds stressful.

Sorry to hear about sickness still lurking about. I'm feeling so tired and dizzy but it might be work and 5am wake up from dd. Zzzzz... Hope it all passes soon as we all approach 20 weeks.

CuppaSarah · 24/07/2015 07:39

It isn't long till 20 weeks at all is it? There's even an April antenatal club now. We're all getting pretty pregnant.

I know cuppa! Not long to go now!!

Hello horsey and armani - and sorry you're feeling rough. Sad The daily vomiting for me has subsided, but anything can set me off again, I feel so sensitive this time round!

What did your MW do, horsey? Also hoping you won! Mine is such a doom monger, it's only a matter of time before I sat something back!

Ahemily · 24/07/2015 08:28

say, not sat!

Tangoandcreditcards · 24/07/2015 08:45

Helpful hint for winning MW arguments: do not sit on them Grin

I am waking up at 4ish every morning with a banging headache, but that's the worst of it at the mo so not whingeing. DP is off to a festival this weekend so I'm on solo-toddler-wrangling-duties, fingers crossed no other minging symptoms crop up over the next couple of days.

Love Zakariah sherbert , also love Beatrice Queazy (adds to the list for future mind-changes).

I've got a baby shower on Sun. It is FANCY DRESS and has HOMEWORK. Too much.

Tangoandcreditcards · 24/07/2015 08:46

NB not MY baby shower!

Gillster · 24/07/2015 08:59

Morning everyone. Going to try and update the spreadsheet later today. Rather than me going back in the thread and trawling for info, can people remind me what to put on there. Think we have a couple of newbies too, so will need full details there (or as much as you want to give me).

Tried pregnancy yoga last night for the first time and liked it. Not sure if I can totally buy into the "woo" just yet though. Will need a few more weeks of brain washing to accept that labour doesn't exist and that it's just a "long journey"!

Also signed up for NCT classes for Oct/Nov. I have no family or mummy friends very close buy do definitely need some new mates in the area (hope they end up being nice).

I was thinking about adding a rough area where we're from on the spreadsheet. I'm from Manchester but appreciate that you may want to kept this to yourselves.

Working from home today- woo hoo! Must not fall asleep on the sofa this afternoon!

Ahemily · 24/07/2015 09:07

Phew, tango! What will you go as?

Hello Gillster - good idea re NCT, lots of my friends say they met some great people there. I wanted to do it this time around but it was too pricey to justify it really.Sad

For the spreadsheet, I'm in London, and am having a little girl on Christmas Eve. Am I missing any more deets? Thank you! Smile

Tangoandcreditcards · 24/07/2015 09:25

It's a pink theme ahemily, and I'm now both untoned and pregnant, so a massive wobbly blancmange, I guess. Pink is SO not my colour. I'll make sure to put a snap on the FB group for your delight.

Nothing new bump-wise to add to the spreadsheet for me: I'm in Surrey (KT postcode)

OhHolyFuck · 24/07/2015 09:34

Boy due Christmas Eve - I'm in Lancaster

I've got a baby name app thing, it's like tinder in that it gives you choices and you swipe if you like them or not. Your dP downloads it too and it gives you a list of all your matches - I'm hoping this will get us away from Derek as a viable choice!

Sickness still staying at bay but the tiredness is unbelievable - 18 weeks already though, it's moving pretty quick atm I think!
Still not felt any movements, had a midwife appointment this week though and heard the heartbeat so things look ok

Ahemily · 24/07/2015 09:37

Oh god tango, poor you! Pink is sooo not my thang either! Perhaps go for a really vivid pink to buck the powder pink trend? Confused

Ahemily · 24/07/2015 09:39

Ooh, we need that app in our lives, ohholy! What's it called??

Felt my first proper kick yesterday and we're exactly as pregnant as each other (!) so I guess it won't be long for you either!

OhHolyFuck · 24/07/2015 09:54

Ahemily it's this one baby name app

Yea, very odd being exactly pregnant as someone else!

Ahemily · 24/07/2015 10:36

Fab, thanks!

It's lovely actually, nice to be going through the same stages together!

This thread is great. Smile

roseformyrose · 24/07/2015 12:05

Hello all! I realise it's late in the day but I'd love to join you all. I've been too scared so far because my pregnancy is v high risk, but I'm just starting to think I might really truly be having a baby!

I've just turned 37 and this will be my first, due January 1st (what a terrible day for a birthday!). I have a septate uterus so being scanned every 2 weeks at UCH in London, likely to need a c section but at the moment they're just seeing how it goes.

Most of my friends already have kids and are old hands at this stuff, so I've learned loads from Mumsnet when I didn't want to ask silly questions. Everyone here seems lovely, wishing you all well with your growing bumps.

Ahemily · 24/07/2015 12:48

Welcome rose! Exciting times! Sounds like you'll be meeting your little one before new years day if it's an ECS which will be nice!

Mine is due Christmas Eve but may also end up having an ECS for various reasons - it'd be nice to meet them before Christmas day l reckon!

Are you finding out the gender or will it be a surprise?

roseformyrose · 24/07/2015 13:41

Thank you! Yes, would be so lovely to have the baby by Christmas but i know the main thing is that he or she is healthy.

I think we're definitely going to find out at the 20 week scan, I'm incredibly impatient and can't imagine I'll be able to wait. I've read back a little on this thread and seen that lots of people have already found out, it's so exciting!

I've had a feeling from the start that it's a girl but very prepared to be wrong. Did others have strong feelings about what they were having, and were you right?

Ahemily · 24/07/2015 13:44

Well, I was CONVINCED my DS was a boy, and it was confirmed that he was - which resulted in me thinking I was Mystic Meg. With this one I was also CONVINCED it was a boy - and it's most definitely a girl - which has resulted in me thinking that I just had a lucky guess the first time around!

I've been much more sick and tearful with this pregnancy than I was with the first, but I honestly don't know it that's because it's a girl, or if it's because I'm three years older and moaning more!

SweepTheHalls · 24/07/2015 16:10

What a day! Up from 2-5 with insomnia, in the car by 9 to set off for a camping weekend, car broke down by 10.30, the AA have just dragged us home again. I am so done with today! Must get that baby name app as I have no idea how DH and I are going to agree on a name 3rd time around! My Midwife is driving me mad as well Horsey, my email us just so drippy!

Rose, New Years Day is a great day for a birthday as DS1 will agree!

Ahemily · 24/07/2015 16:20

Nooooooo, sweep! You poor thing, what a shitty day Sad Thanks

CuppaSarah · 24/07/2015 17:27

Oh wow what a busy day on here!!

Gillster I'm in Hampshire otherwise I'm.up to date, thank you for taking charge on the spreadsheet.

Welcome Rose! Lovely to have another person on board. We have a Facebook group too, its secret so only members can see it. If you want to join pme and I can add you in!

I NEED this baby name app on my life, totally getting it today!

We get the keys Monday! So excited about it. Annoyed the appointment is during work hours again! Might ask if we can go later. Or will have to take it as lunch. But whoopie moving house! Gonna get packing tommorow.

Queazy · 24/07/2015 18:33

Sweep, what a day, you poor thing Hmm Hope it improves for you.

I'm finding that app now!

Welcome rose! NY is a great day for a baby's birthday. I was two weeks late last time so wondering if I'll end up a mid Jan date!

Have a good night all. Up since 5am and soooo sleepy. Zzzz

CuppaSarah · 24/07/2015 19:17

Sweep just read the thread properly! That's awful. Hope you feel a bit better in the morning, but that really is beyond shit. Feel free to rant away if you need to.

roseformyrose · 24/07/2015 23:29

Thanks for the welcomes everyone! And sorry about your terrible day sweep.

I've also been playing with the baby name app today, so far me and OH have only managed to agree on two names, but at least it's better than none. Until yesterday he was trying to convince me to name it Battlecat...
