Just got my bfp positive today and am thinking we need a thread for all the babies that will be born around new years and Christmas. I'm due new years eve and just know I'll be sick of the comments real quick! So we can vent and plan low stress xmases together.

I know we have the December thread and will have the January one, but why the hell not there's room for everyone!

Aw a nice mix then, fingers crossed it's not an awful winter this year! Confused I've already told my hubby he'll not be able to have a drink over Xmas and new year just in case Wine

CuppaSarah · 23/04/2015 05:42

I haven't thought of any Christmas names, but I have nicknamed the baby in the making, fireworks baby. I keep singing Katy Perry's firework too Grin.
As for themed names
Noel
Joseph
Eve(Christmas eve, new years eve)
Bailey

I can't think of anymore.

Hi Griffo, will this be your first baby? Does anyone have many symptoms yet? I feel like it's all I'm thinking about at the moment and feel a bit nervous all the time, hope it passes soon Blush

ChandlersFarang · 23/04/2015 19:24

Hello festive ladies!! I'm not sure if I'm allowed to join, with my EDD of 21st December...? SmileSmile Frankly, I'm late for everything, so already feels like it's a dead cert for Xmas day... Lol!! It's DC1 for me, and had been TTC 18 months (!!!!) so hoping this sticks! Am 5+5 today.

Loving the Xmas names!!! Envy

OhHolyFuck · 23/04/2015 20:15

Welcome Griff and Chandler Smile

Griffomais · 23/04/2015 20:16

Hey everyone - this is my 2nd baby. My DD is 17 months - it took 3 years to conceive her we were about to embark on our first round of IVF when we discovered I was pregnant. Very different story this time around - husband works away for long periods of time so we only DTD once in the last 3 weeks and yesterday I realised my period was late then it dawned on me my boobs were aching then it was confirmed by insomnia for the last couple of nights ( I had exactly the same feeling first time around) so this morning I just knew and POAs - BFP. So in shock, now worried about how Ill cope with a newborn and a 2 year old when my DH is away. Congratulations to everyone how is everyone feeling?

Twoinjuredswans · 24/04/2015 14:04

Can i join?! Due 30th December if my dates are right! This will be number 2-got a just turned 2 year old. Feeling ok but crampy and a bit nauseous.

LauraMcW · 24/04/2015 15:21

Twoinjuredswans we will be due date twins if dates right! I'm the same been crampy (knicker watching like a mental case) and emotional Wink

ChandlersFarang · 24/04/2015 19:38

Thanks HolyFuck & hi twoswans! Grin

Griff that's the best story! I was on the IVF waiting list too and due to start in June, when we move back to England, but some magic happened and here I am - 6 weeks today! I had a very early mc in Jan too (at 4+5) so have been super cautious about this one sticking. But the longer it goes on the more it's sinking in so am praying it's all OK!! Smile I plan to have an early scan in the next week or so, as my fertility issues were down to weird hormone levels so need to get it all checked I guess.

So how's everyone doing symptoms-wise? AFM, my boobs have gone bananas - huge and solid like rocks, which feels sore, with super sensitive nips. I've also had lots of burps and gas (sexy!) and currently quite low-level nausea... Seems to just be when I get hungry, or weirdly when I see an advert on TV for some food I really don't like the look of!

Me and DH are on a big holiday at the moment and yesterday I flew from Vancouver to Tokyo... Am now so jetlagged!! It's 03:36 here...!!! Luckily the fatigue thing hasn't hit me yet but am going to be a bit of a mess for the next few days anyway I think... Shock

Twoinjuredswans · 24/04/2015 20:10

Hi Laura! That's my name too! Knicker watching is exactly the right description for how i'm feeling-if it wasnt for the test i would be convinced i was just late!
Will this be your first? Rang GP today but they dont see ladies until they're 9 weeks along! Thats ages! We've moved house since we had number 1 so it all seems very different here!
Griff and Chandlers-what lovely stories! Hope the jetlag gets better soon!
Have you ladies told anyone? We arent telling anyone until had 12 week scan but we've loads of weekend friend plans in may and june so i think some will guess.

OhHolyFuck · 24/04/2015 20:26

Grrr...rang the GPs today to get a midwife appointment, massive lecture about how "I'm too early really" and then this is the rest of the conversation...

Me - I say I know but it was an absolute nightmare trying to get hold of her last time and I remember there was some stuff I needed to do before a certain point?
Receptionist - Oh yes, she says you absolutely MUST have these bloods done at week 10
Me - Ok, says I, I'll be 10 weeks around the last week in May so can I book in then?
Receptionist - Oh no, we've no appointments until the second week in June (when I'll be 11+4)
Me- What about the 12 weeks scan?
Receptionist - Oh, she'll book it then
Me- For 3 days time after the appointment?!
Receptionist - Well we've no appointments sooner so do you want it or not?!

My doctors surgery is great usually but they have 1 midwife for too big an area!
I wanted to ask about folic acid too (I'm fat so wondering if I should be on a higher dose that you can only get prescribed) but by the time I see her, first trimester will be pretty much over

aletea · 24/04/2015 20:39

I'm due over Christmas again. I already have a Christmas Eve baby. Expensive :/

CuppaSarah · 24/04/2015 20:54

Wow Griff that's amazing, I'm so thrilled for you!
Chandlers that sounds like an amazing holiday, just what you need to let the news sink in.

I called the gp yesterday and have a booking in appointment for 8 weeks. The midwife also called me back about some issues with gas and lead at work which was really nice. As for symptoms I keep dry heaving, have some mega boobage which hurt so bad. I'm cramping a little too so I'm part of the knicker checker club. When I lay on my back the bottom of my dtonache sticks out the tiniest amount and feels puffy (totally the bloat but I can pretend its pregnancy right?)

OP posts:
ChandlersFarang · 24/04/2015 20:57

HolyFuck that's absolutely abysmal! I'm assuming there's only one surgery you're eligible to go to in your area? As for the folic acid, I'm taking a 'double dose' (800 instead of just the 400 in usual prenatals) as I was taking a medication last year that reduced its absorption. Holland and Barrett sells them in 800s, which is what I take. Have a read up and see what you're comfortable doing? m.netdoctor.co.uk/ate/pregnancyandchildbirth/205001.html

aletea - congrats!! I'm assuming you mean double spend every Xmas?! Must save a bit on birthday parties then though, I'd imagine most can't make Xmas dates...? Wow hadn't thought of any of this! Lol!!

ChandlersFarang · 24/04/2015 20:59

Thanks Cuppa, and I've totally been stroking the bloat too!! Mwahahaha!! Really hope I make it to bump stage GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

OhHolyFuck · 24/04/2015 21:09

Chandler I've read advice that if your bmi is over 30 then you are supposed to take a 5mg dose (so 12 times the normal 400mmg dose!) and that you should get that prescribed - I'll see if I can find a link

OhHolyFuck · 24/04/2015 21:10

www.babycentre.co.uk/a476/folic-acid-in-pregnancy - it says it here

ChandlersFarang · 24/04/2015 22:05

Wow!! I didn't know that. My BMI is normal so that wasn't the reason for upping mine!! I wonder if you could get an appointment with a nurse more easily that might be able to help on this specifically?

OhHolyFuck · 24/04/2015 22:34

Thinking about it, I have an appointment with my gynea consultant early May so I'll ask her but the midwife doesn't know about that because it's through the hospital so if that wasn't the case, it might well have been a bit too little too late

LauraMcW · 25/04/2015 01:02

Yes first baby, so glad I'm not the only knicker checker Hmm I'm feeling quite nauseated and not much appetite but not sure if pregnancy nausea or just nerves! I know this time will just drag til first scan don't think I'll relax til I've seen it with my own eyes lol. What about supplements what is everyone taking? Did anyone take folic acid prior to becoming pregnant, I've just been taking it for about a week and got some pregnacare today is that all we need to take?

CuppaSarah · 25/04/2015 06:18

All the advice about folic acid is a bit confusing. You can't overdose on it can you?

Laura I'm taking boots own pregnancy supplements, they have folic acid and um...vitamins of some sort.

Is everyone managing to keep their news secret or has anyone let it slip yet? After getting a giant bfp, I went to boots and bought a crap ton of tests and an old school friend served me, so it did not stay secret long! I'm seeing mum today too, for months she has told me I'll get pregnant in April abdw give birth in January, she'll know the second she see's me.

SweepTheHalls · 25/04/2015 06:33

After 2 and a half years I got my BFP this morning so am tentatively joining you. Due date 2nd Jan but he'd better not turn up then as DS1 is a New Years Day boy! We had a miscarriage lays year but this BFP came up really quickly so fingers crossed this one is a sticker. I'd given up taking folic acid after the first 30 cycles so am going to need to get pill popping!

SweepTheHalls · 25/04/2015 06:41

Showing you guys as DH is away until tomorrow lunchtime! I assumed it would be negative like all the others since December 2013 when we first started trying!
