Bramshott sounds good thankyou but dont have any chorizo and too much to do today to go shops. Your creamy nutmeg one sounds really good but dont wanna put you out if you not got it to hand. Started a thread earlier asking for recipes and someone has posted one with spices and honey which sounds simple enough for me to do although not quite sure bout the honey but might give it a try.

CFK thank you thats really kind but i have a boy and a girl and ive kept nearly everything they've ever worn so should be ok for clothes and still have most of the baby stuff i need and plenty i dont I just need a new highchair and pushchair but plenty of time left to save up and if dp isn't moving in and i dont get my money stopped then ill get the sure start maternity grant to buy things with which is what ive been counting on.

I cant drink coke anymore either, normally drink loads but around 5 weeks found myself feeling really anxious and getting very short of breath like i couldnt get enough air in my lungs and realised after a couple of days it was the caffeine in the coke. Although saying that ive been drinking alot of lucozade lately and ive been ok with that but then i have been having slight headaches so oh. Think i have to cut out lucozade now oh poo thats the only thing stops me being sick all morning. Will have to think about this one!

Have to go carve pumpkin faces now, still very tempted by the sledge hammer but dcs would never forgive me!

Tili · 31/10/2006 15:22

Afternoon ladies.

Sound like a lot of you are having an awful time at the moment hope things look up for you soon.

Emmymummy your daughter is just beautiful bless her

Pesha save the pumpkins till you see the woman who contacted the dss and throw them at her I dont usually condone violence but it may make you feel better, you can always blame the crazy pg hormones

Hope everyone else is ok its gonna take me ages to catch up fully so sorry theres not more personals.

Gonna go and check on dd she is going through all my make up to see if theres anything she can use for tonight she wants to be a "pretty witch not a scary one"
best of luck to all who are going to be dragged around for hours tonight lol xx

Bramshott · 31/10/2006 15:23

Pesha - it sounds like your day needs all the help it can get, so here's the soup recipie!

  • chop 1 onion & 2 garlic cloves and saute in oil
  • add 1.5kg of diced pumpkin flesh (or mangled if you have chopped it out to make a pumpkin face) along with 2 bay leaves, salt and pepper. Now I remembered wrong about the nutmeg, was thinking of a pumpkin pie recipie which has 1/2 tsp mixed spice, 100g brown sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp ginger to 500g pumpkin, but I'm sure you could add any/all of the above at this point. Cook for 15 mins until the pumpkin is soft.
  • put into a liquidiser with 1/2 pt milk and blend until smooth.
  • add 1/2 pt single cream and reheat slowly.
  • eat along with your lovely DCs and try to forget about crappy DSS man who knows nothing about your personal situation at all!

Glad your check went well GGF - LOVE hearing that little heartbeat galloping away. Should be seeing my m/w next wee - can't wait!

emmymummy - your DD is delicious - wow - do you have curly hair or is it your DH or some other member of the family??

pesha - Sorry stuff is so for you right now - [hugs]

Can't be v.long cos I'm at work, but just popping in to say "hi!", feeling ok, but v.tired. Went to see house we're buying this morning - just to make sure it is still there - it is!! It is lovely, can't wait to move in sooooooon!!!!!? Hopefully ..... !!!?

Potty training continues - no successful poos, but lots of successful wees, bless her!

Best go, but will pop by later, I'm sure!

WaspElly · 31/10/2006 15:39

Just a thought peeps - but the headaches could be caffiene withdrawal?
I always get terrrible headaches with that - and the other obvious one is dehydration - we've all got a lot of extra goo to produce these 6 more months you know! I know that I (subconciously) cut back on drinking in order to stop having to wee so bliddy often!
Better mood all round - a bit easier in the sunshine I find!
Hooray -I'm out of the easting trash phase too - been craving & stuffing myself on fruit & 'good' things this week - yay!
And it's pomegrante and clementine time of year _ I love the early acidic clementines not the sweet wishy-washy ones you get by Xmas...so eating bags of citrus fruit is going to put a smil on my face as will having ds at his second foreworks party on Sat - although he was entralled at the last one, I'm hoping for some really big reactions this time (16 months)

Greengirlforever · 31/10/2006 15:42

Mmm - that recipe for pumpkin soup sounds lovely, Bramshott. Too late for today but I bet I'll get a pumpkin tomorrow on the cheap AND I won't have to cut a face out of it first !

Mammyjo - still thinking of you, and hoping you are beginning to feel a little better. [[[hugs]]]

CornflakeKid · 31/10/2006 16:30

I have sucessfully made my first birthday cake ever for dh! (or anyone at all tbh!) Chocolate loaf cake out of the domestic goddess book. Boys kind of helped and licked the spoons and bowls - covered in choc! I have decided that I deserve a glass of red wine - to celebrate cake and to brace myself for trick or treating with the boys! I know there are lots of threads about drinking in pg but the odd glass occasionally is so nice - and esp now don't feel ill feels like a mega treat!

Must get cake out of oven anf fish pie in!

nuttygirl · 31/10/2006 16:48

Wow it's been so long since I last posted a new thread has started!

Having broke 4 bits of dinner set last Tuesday, DH broke his glasses on Friday. He tried superglueing (sp???) them but no luck. So he had to spend £200 on a new pair (they were about the cheapest frames in the shop). Poor thing was a bit upset cos he's a "dopey clumsy man" - his words not mine

Really annoyed cos he's going to London tomorrow for a conference. Thought he'd be getting the train (3hrs each way, but at least he could snooze!). Anyway, cos there's 4 of them going his company have said they have to car share. That means a much longer journey and rush hour traffic. He's having to leave at 4.45am and won't be back until about 8.30pm. It's so annoying and I know I'll worry all day about him (I don't like the idea of them driving when they're tired). Sorry to rant!

On a happier not I have my 20wk scan on 16th Nov. I can't wait I'm so excited about it. Don't think we'll find out what it is, DH def doesn't want to and I'd like a surprise too but not sure I can wait!!!

Mum and Dad are coming down that day too. They're coming for a week and dad's gonna build us a new patio (or at least he's gonna try!!!). All the stuff's been delivered so the garden looks a complete tip! It's really nice of him though...he's paid for it all and they've bought us loadsa stuff for the bean

1b3 - I think it's great you're having twins. They run in my family and everyone said maybe i was having twins when I looked so big so early. I was a bit disappointed when there was only 1 in there. A friend of DH hd twins last year and they are so cute!!! Do you know if they're identical or not? (Can they tell at this stage?)

Does anyone else have really sore chapped lips. Mine are so sore when I wake up in a morning even if I've drunk loads through night. My lips are covered in dry blood every morning (sorry if TMI). I've tried using vaseline, any other ideas?

CornflakeKid · 31/10/2006 16:57

hello nuttygirl

When my dh (or one of the boys!!) breaks his glasses he claims on the house insurance - doesn't effect claim/premium from what I can gather.

My wine was very yummy!

Boys getting very excited now as it is getting dark - have told them no halloween until have eaten full plate of mummys nice fish pie!

Am quite excited about pumpkins myself so may put them out anyway!! Still need to cut holes in sheet for ds1 ghost outfit!

Have been busy freecycling - does anyone else here freecycle? I love it - such good way to get rid of stuff/get stuff for free.

nuttygirl · 31/10/2006 17:11

I should check up on that CFK...not sure if they're covered on our policy cos we've just changed insurers. Thanx.

Just had our first trick or treaters!!! It's the first halloween we've lived here and there's a few kids around so we bought some sweets for them. Mind you if they don't come soon I might have eaten it all!!!! DH wouldn't let me buy decorations for the house!!!! I'm just a big kid at heart...and I'm even worse at xmas!

weeonion · 31/10/2006 17:23

CFK - what is freecycling??

well - happy haunted hallowen to oyu all. a bit at all u folsk taking little devils, witches and ghouls out trick / treating. i really hope some kids call to our door but as we are a 2nd floor flat - nit likely!

pesha - yr post made me . why cant some people just keep their bloody noses out of others business. too much of this "shop yr neighbour in" attitude around. GRRRRR. anything we can do to help - just say!

emmymummy - i want her! she looks a real lively one. hope my bean is like that

i am having a great day today. i feel fine, starting to look pg and cant help rubbing bump.

CornflakeKid · 31/10/2006 18:18

freecycle is a yahoo group and most towns have their own freecyle site - so I am part of the Bath Freecycle Group - search freecycle then add on a nearby town/city and it should come up with a site - you need to register but it is free. If you can't find a local one - contact them and they will help you find the nearest one or you can set up one for your own area for free. Basically you offer anything you don't want anymore and can also post wanted items - so today I have put on a headboard, sidetable and lamp which don't need anymore and anyone can take it for free - and you can take anyone elses for free - it is a good way of getting rid of stuff as they tend to collect and good source for finding stuff for free - and they post on just about anything! They don't like you posting on services such as plumbing -as it is designed to swap stuff for free. I have had a juicer so far - always lots of kids stuff too.

Long winded - will try to find web address and post again!

emned · 31/10/2006 18:19

Doghouse - Fantastic! on baby movements! Exciting stuff!I've had sort of pains moving around the baby area wondered if it might be a foot or hand? Could just be insides jiggling about to make room! Still had nothing like butterflies though!!!

Pesha - Interfering cow! Don't let 'em get you down!

Emmymummy - She is beautiful! Ever thought about kiddy modelling or sticking her on the stage!!

Looking forward to 20 wk scan on 15th Nov.
18weeks today!!! Yippee!
Indulged myself in a look around Mothercare World. All those little santa suits and pumpkin outfits!!! Sooo cute!!!!!

CornflakeKid · 31/10/2006 18:21

groups.yahoo.com/group/BathFreecycle/

this is my local site! Will need to search to get your local one.

ds2 failed miserably with the fish pie so only went to two houses t-o-t'ing - but enough sweets to make them hyper! School starts tomorrow ..phew!

liath · 31/10/2006 18:54

Happy Halloween,

Am afraid to report that I'm being a miserable git and am pretending I'm not in but I don't like opening the door after dark if DH isn't in. And I didn't get around to buying in any sweets. And I've got a headache. Hope all you trick or treaters have fun, though.

Emmy, your dd is gorgeous!

Pesha, like the idea of the sledgehammer to pumpkins! Sorry you've had a crap time at dss.

And a big Mumsnet slap to all rubbish/insensitive DHs and bosses ! Not to mention histrionic step-daughters!

Thanks so much for your kind words about my Grandma's death, that meant a lot. The funeral went OK, it was a humanist ceremony which was lovely and dd was really good and a reminder that life goes on.

Am of GGF's midwife visit - I was at mine today and it took HOURS (well, felt like hours) to find the heartbeat, which was a bit nervewracking. I've booked my 20 weeks scan (£150!!!) so that's 27th Novemebr. I think I will find out the sex, for practical reasons - if either of my sisters have a girl & I'm expecting a boy I can offload all dd's cast-offs.

oooggs · 31/10/2006 18:58

Hi girls - I'm back. Now 16+5 and I have been back at work 2 weeks after 9 weeks off sick. Have at last stopped being sick and blood pressure is sort of back to normal.

Still very tired and huge, someone has asked if I have long to go!!!!!! That's twins for you.

Hope you are all well and I will now try and keep up with the convo.

Have also heard that full term for twins is 37 weeks which makes me 22 March. We will see.

Bugmum · 31/10/2006 19:17

Hi all,
Emmymummy - Just to echo what everyone else has said: what a gorgeous child you have!

I was meant to begin my not-treating-myself-every-five-minutes thing today, but I met a friend for lunch and had pudding, and I bought M&S food for tonight, on the grounds that I was tired after work Oh, and at work I ate some choc as well. Have no probs eating fruit and so on, do it loads, but I have the treats as well. Sigh.

Hope those not having a great time are feeling better this evening xx

bubbaloo · 31/10/2006 20:00

Evening All,

Thought I'd show my face once again, before you forget who I am.Just can't keep up with all the posts.I was on an antenatal thread last year, which I thought moved fast, but this one wins...hands down, lol!

Hope you are all well.
I'm with Liath with the trick or treating.Dh refuses to open the door-he is such a grouch!
We have so far had only 2 people knock, accompanied by their parents and one lot looked so cute,I had to open the door and give them some sweets. We're now sitting in the dark, pretending we're out.

CFK-I'm a huge fan of freecycling.Have freecycled a huge bag of clothes today and have a fab single bed to put on there after christmas, which is currently in the spare room/nursery.Have got rid of lots of things and taken a few handy things too, like our stairgates.

Still feeling very tired and finding it very hard to get comfy in bed,but apart from that,I'm fine.Have a routine mw appointment next week where I'll be a whole 16 weeks pg!

Take care all.x

Sexonlegs · 31/10/2006 20:41

Hiya ladies, Pesha, I am am so sorry you had such a bad time at the DSS - people can't help themselves can they.
And hello to Oogs and Bubbaloo who have been away for sooo long!
Not much to report here. We had NO trick or treaters at all which I was amazed about. I had even planned in advance and bought some sweets - I'll just have to eat them myself!
Feeling knackered today. Dd is still on old hours, and keeps coming in at 6.30 (normally isn't in until 7.30) which is v annoying. I appreciate 6.30 is probably normal for some parents - we are quite lucky!
Hopefully she will settle in to the new hours soon.

Anyway, must fly. See you all tomorrow.

xx

emmymummy · 31/10/2006 20:41

CFK - am very you're in Bath - we love it there and given the chance would move there in a flash! We're staying in town for a couple of days in December to do some shopping at the Christmas market - lovely!

Sexonlegs · 31/10/2006 20:43

Emmy, are you in Southampton or have I made that up?

emmymummy · 31/10/2006 20:44

Opps forgot to say thank you for all the lovely comments about dd. I think she's gorgeous, but then I'm allowed to be totally biased.

I need to see some pics of all your LOs now, so share please!

EllieK · 31/10/2006 20:45

haven't read any of this thread yet, but,
HOW ON EARTH IS IT SO LONG ALREADY???!!!!!!

emmymummy · 31/10/2006 20:45

SoL, no, we're near Guildford, Surrey!

EllieK · 31/10/2006 20:53

EMENED - i'll chat to you on the suffolk thread about your hospital options but briefly, no, West Suffolk is not your only option!!!
