Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

OP posts:

She slept til 8 when I heard the reassuring "Kaitlin's awake mummy!"

Daddy rang to check how we are, she's eaten some breakfast, still a bit squeaky but not as bad. Seemed to manage to breathe the inhaler better this morning and off to pharmacy at 9 to get the new tablets then I will drop her at nursery. I am debating whether to give them her inhaler too... She's quite lively. She's not poorly as in not got a bug making her feel poorly, and she wants to go to nursery so... They can always ring me if they need to I'm only down the road (probably napping, lol!)

Sorry for all the carpal tunnel around, that's horrid!

daholster · 20/03/2015 08:44

PS you guys are lovely. I couldn't have slept before I did because she was coughing and wheezing so much but it was nice to have company Smile

RL20 · 20/03/2015 08:58

Daholster I suppose there's no harm in giving them her inhaler, at least it's there if they feel she needs it. Hope she has a nice non-poorly day at nursery!

Well I've decided I'm going to nip into town today (this not spending money thing is going really well Hmm). But I do need a jacket. When I was having money troubles through January and February, if some if you can remember I was selling a lot of my stuff. Well it turns out I must have sold every jacket I own - I don't have one! I have left myself with a parka coat that's still going strong at about 6/7 years old, and a duffle style coat which I have been wearing. Both are too bulky for this mild-ish weather though. But I feel so out of touch with fashion now that I have no idea what sort of jacket to get! I think I'll only be going to Primark though

Siarie · 20/03/2015 09:11

I'm knackered today, up in the night itching. I've noticed it seems to ease off in the mornings are build slowly in the evenings. So by the evening I'll be itching again and then at night it's constant, even my palms were itching last night.

I got up at 3am to put some moisturising cream in my arms because they were driving me crazy. It's everywhere though my legs, back, arms, hands surely it can't be normal.

I think I'll have to mention it again but should I call the midwife of book a GP appointment?

I used to suffer with itching before pregnancy and was given a cream wash to use, I am sure it would be safe in pregnancy to use maybe they can prescribe you something to wash in to help your skin to stop it itching Siarie

RL20 · 20/03/2015 09:23

I suffer with itching Siarie due to having eczema, dermatitis and general sensitive skin. But they do say to call the midwives if you get itchy palms if I remember rightly, so give them a call! x

Lauren82000 · 20/03/2015 09:30

I sympathise with the carpal tunnel. I don't actually have it but I seem to favour sleeping on my right wrist funny. (Think how a cat sleeps when it tucks its paws in. Me and DH call them bendy paws Grin) It wakes me several times a night and I can't seem to stop doing it. It leaves my wrist sore, tender and weak all morning sometimes it stays with me all day!

Had plenty more strong BH in the night but this morning seems to have settled down. So panic over for now.

Finally remembered to bring my notes in from the car and scan in my growth chart and other tit bits, in case I ever decided to have another baby, so I can do some comparisons. It's really annoyed me that I can't remember half of what happened during my first pregnancy and it's a right battle to be able to see your hospital notes, some even make you pay for the privilege.

Can't say I'm impressed with this elicpse, just looks like it's going to rain really hard. Hmm

smogsville · 20/03/2015 09:36

Yay chicken! Nipple shields are the business.

Bloody freezing walking DD to nursery in this solar eclipse.

We went JL pocket sprung for mattress. Not one of the la-di-da organic ones but not the cheapest either. Will be reusing for this baby as it's in perfect nick, no dip in the middle, DD was only sick once as a baby and obviously no one smokes or anything.

Congrats on the new gaff Brixton and I'm pleased that you seem to have been sensible and not over exerted yourself. Don't know about CTS. I thought I might have it a few weeks ago but it was just a weird deadened finger thing that lasted two days, like all my imaginary ailments Blush

RL I wouldn't put up with not knowing OH's plans for the evening, but then as we know I don't put up with much Angry

daholster I hope DD is at nursery and you are back in bed.

Siarie I would defo get it double checked, if you're near your hospital go to the day unit, if not harass the GP - mine saw me the same morning on Weds when I said I'm 35 wks preg with pelvic pain. But then I seem to be a bit of a hypochondriac! Better safe than sorry is my motto.

smogsville · 20/03/2015 09:37

Yes Lauren it would have cost me £50 to access my notes from first preg AngryAngryAngry

PenguinPoser · 20/03/2015 09:39

Siarie please call someone today that is EXACTLY how my cholestasis presented if it is that you need treatment. I know I might sound dramatic and hopefully it isn't that but it can affect the baby so it's not worth taking the chance. And due to treatment I have my daughter in my arms or on my boob and am no longer itching! Don't call your GP call maternity (unless they don't do anything then call your GP!)

Glad your dd is a bit better daholster Smile

Brixton so glad you are moved!

Had a better nights sleep decided to give some ebm to settle dd and then she fed from me then slept 4 hours. I then did the same at 4am she she slept from 6-8. This feels like an achievement although I would rather have her on boob all the time rather than expressing but I need to stay sane...!

What ever works for you Penguin, we don't judge round here. Grin Least you got some decent pockets of sleep.

Lauren82000 · 20/03/2015 09:44

We wouldn't have seen anything like that up here Squatting, the cloud cover was too thick and still a bit murky from early morning fog.

Siarie · 20/03/2015 09:50

Just called, they said I need to go to the hospital unit and get my blood checked. So going to get ready now and hopefully it's nothing but better safe than sorry I suppose.

Good Siarie I feel better knowing you're getting checked!

RL20 · 20/03/2015 10:08

Glad you are getting checked Siarie, better safe than sorry and all of that, glad you told us all, sometimes we need a little push or gentle advice to get things moving. (I know I have done). Good luck Thanks

It seems to have brightened up over here again, eclipse-wise. That was quick! No idea about how warm or cold it has been though as I haven't stepped outside yet!

When I lay on my left - which is most of the time - I always feel like baby's legs or arms all move over to the left too as all his weight goes into my side, getting some little jabs just above my hip that are making me go Confused eek.

ToutDeLeFruit · 20/03/2015 10:10

Hi all!i haven't posted in ages again, can't keep up with you all! I've been reading through the threads and can't believe all these impatient babies arriving!! Congratulations on all the new arrivals ladies :)

I'm after some advice, I'm wondering if I've been experiencing my first lot of Braxton Hicks? I was woken about 3am with quite intense period 'aches' which would ease a bit and then come back. It eased off for longer at about 6am and was then just left with the dull period type ache I get when on a period. The last couple of hours I've had episodes of the period ache increasing and I've noticed my bump getting hard at the same time before easing off and bump relaxes a bit.

Reading that yes it does sound like BHs but I guess I was just expecting something more obvious! The reason I doubt what it is is because for me, my period aches and pains have always been focused in my groin on my right side, and I imagined BH and contractions to be higher up all accross the bump and Back? The ache does travel across my lower tum but has always been worse in the right groin area. I have really bad back pain but that's usual for me with the SPD!

Mine is from mothercare Minstrelle here. It's a cot one as I have a toddler bed and like the extra space now. We went for the cheapest sprung one with the removable cover and they are great for washing when you have a sicky baby.

Congratulations on the house BrixtonBunny and sorry to hear about the carpel tunnel, no experience I'm afraid :(

Call the midwife Sairie and see what she says. Mine wouldn't see me for that until the next clinic which is Wednesday only but she may want you to get checked out at the antenatal ward. Glad you've called, hope it goes ok.

Not sure where the mild weather is RL20 but it's not where I live!!!! Good luck with the jacket search.

It's too cloudy here to see anything Lauren82000 so just got darker. Our hospital charge £50 per set to have your notes, I considered asking for a birthday present as id love to see my labour notes Grin

I would rather have an inhaler in case for a minded child daholster so take it, you may just need to fill in a form and they will probably want one to keep if the problem does become more permenant.

Dh had a horrible day with his boss wanting him to do the impossible between now and when we have te baby and during paternity leave. He's been asking for deputy for ages as his workload has grown massively and he knew he was going to off for the baby too so his boss may have sorted it by three days before Easter Confused so plenty of time to train him! And they gave him a new project to manage and be finished before Easter yesterday which in itself is two weeks of work without the rest of his job! He was so grumpy with the kids and hardly slept last night. He got up twice and wrote 6 pages of notes so is going to see his boss today with them all! Hoping he comes home happier and sleeps better tonight, I'm exhausted never mind him!! I ran this morning so was alarm was set for 5.30 anyway Sad had a lovely run but my bum/back is tight after it so may have to give parkrun a miss tomorrow. Minded parents have moved kids around this week so my nice quiet Friday is now really hectic and I have one who was supposed to be on holiday but his parents need a peaceful day so I have him.

cinnamongreyhound · 20/03/2015 10:19

My experience of bh is that they don't hurt at all ToutDeLeFruit, they are just tightenings but I know others have found differently.

RL20 · 20/03/2015 10:33

Cinnamon maybe the weather isn't actually that mild and it's just me! Confused I've started to feel very warm whereas my other half has been complaining he's cold when I've wanted to turn the heating off. My coat irritates me when I'm driving too, and I suppose it's actually not even that bulky, it just feels like it is at the minute!

ToutDeLeFruit - Sorry no experience of BH here either (getting more and more nervous as to when they decide to crop up though!) I've heard they don't hurt or aren't meant to hurt like real contractions, but I know some ladies on here have felt different. P.S. your name always reminds me of those Rowntrees Tootie Frootie sweets (if they still sell them!)

Wow £50 to see your old notes! I didn't even realise you didn't get to keep them! (Silly naive me Grin)

Can't believe you are still running Cinnamon! Hats off to you. I can barely be bothered to walk! I am starting to get cabin fever though Confused

Lauren82000 · 20/03/2015 10:35

ToutDeLeFruit only one way to know if they are BH or not. Wait for them to get worse or go away. It's always worth changing what your doing to see if that helps. Mine can be uncomfortable on the verge of painful and last quite a while but they do eventually stop.

FiRaffe · 20/03/2015 10:54

No eclipse here either, cloud is really thick.
RL - I can't even face a jacket any more and if it gets to 12 i'm barely able to stand a cardi. DH is there is in 2 jumpers whinging about turning the heating up. Hope your jacket search is successful!

Hope you're okay Sairie - glad you're getting checked out.

BananaToast · 20/03/2015 11:09

Struggling to keep up...

Brixton great news that you're finally in the new house! Carpal tunnel sounds horrible though, hope you find a way to get some relief.

Boo so exciting to have a date booked - baby soon, eek! Good luck!

Minstrelle we went for a sprung cot bed mattress from Amazon in the end - it had hundreds of great reviews and was about £40 including a spare washable cover. Obviously no idea if it's comfortable but it seems good quality so we're happy with it.

Squatting that picture is great - here in London all we saw was a slightly darker shade of grey... exciting times!

daholster sorry your DD had a difficult night, hope her breathing is better today.
