Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cinnamongreyhound · 25/03/2015 10:28

Loving the dreams, a baby with only a head who looks like Warwick Davies is great! Although probably not at the time.

RL20 · 25/03/2015 10:44

I just can't wake up properly Shock I've been back to sleep since I posted. I've been up and got a yoghurt (I did have beans on toast earlier this morning) and I've eaten that and could quite easily fall back to sleep! I haven't felt like this since the early/middle stages. Maybe these pillows are a bit too comfortable?

Brixton yep sounds very similar! The 'floating' pillow is the latest addition and that's what seems to be doing the trick!

Banana you're right we do have a few more weeks to go yet (hopefully!). I have had the odd mild cramp but I think thats more wind Blush and no stomach tightenings how some explain. But still time for all of that!

Oh no Cinnamon. Well you need to let it all out, even if it is at the MOT reception!

It's payday today and my last official monthly one from work. From now on it will be maternity allowance. So I feel less inclined to go shopping for bits and feel like I need to save it!

LadyNovember · 25/03/2015 10:49

Payday is friday for me, and I can't wait...still have a few bits to get. But I have 2 practically full months after this one until it drops dramatically! Maternity pay sucks!

I'm just getting out of bed..lazy! Going for carvery today with my friend though..win! Grin

Also wanted to say I haven't had any BH either..are we normal?! Hmm

35+6

Wineandchoccy · 25/03/2015 10:55

RL20 no braxton hicks here either and I am 37 + 1.

It's my last full payday as well today before I go on SMP, I'm sure the snuggles will make up for the lack if money!

RL20 · 25/03/2015 11:08

Yep, I'm hoping I'll feel like I won't need as much money anyway as won't be going shopping etc! (Am I mad?!! Nappies... milk.... Shock) Glad it will be the Summer and will be able to just go on free walks with pushchair Smile
The upside is that my car insurance was due for renewal this month and has gone down by I think £20 a month. But my phone bill this month is extortionate! Angry I absolutely begrudge paying it, but I can hardly walk round at 8 months pregnant without a working phone. Apparently it's from 08 numbers which include PayPal. So apparently next months bill is set to look 'normal'.

Lady, I'm still not out of bed either! Carvery sounds lovely, hmm may suggest going out for something to eat with my mum, if she can be bothered!

Wine (and Lady) suppose we should be glad that we haven't had any yet?! Although I feel like I want to be prepared for what contractions feel like!

FiRaffe · 25/03/2015 11:09

Ooh carvery sounds lovely Lady.

We get paid on Friday too. Can't wait, but as you all say last proper paycheck for some time and that is scary.

Lauren82000 · 25/03/2015 11:18

Aww poor you Fi. I hate it when people do that, there really is no need.

Siarie · 25/03/2015 11:39

I think it's great that those who have had their babies are able to talk about the negative sides openly. Reading that this morning has made me appreciate the last few weeks (days?) whatever I have left rather than be grumpy that I'm stuck in some kind of early pregnancy ground hog day.

I'm going to go play with my cats now and appreciate the fact I don't have a small person demanding my attention 24/7.

ChickenMe · 25/03/2015 11:52

Thanks all. Feeling good today as DD has regained her birth weight.
Penguin how are u doing? we are giving one bottle of ebm at night for my sanity! DD was grazing and that is soul destroying. MW said to let DD get a bit hungry and to try to stimulate her when at the breast to keep her going. The usual, take her clothes off, make her uncomfortable im sure u have been told this too! This seems to be working as she just fed for 45 min on one boob!

IvegotaCaveTroll · 25/03/2015 11:53

I had a really weird dream- one where my sister cut the cord but accident cut a testicle off! And one where baby was small and slippy and kept slipping through my hands!!

Cinnamon - I think u are a star the amount u are doing!

cinnamongreyhound · 25/03/2015 12:01

On the cat front, one of mine used to bite me if ds1 was crying and I was pacing with him. Even she got used to it very quickly though, they're not quite as understanding once they start moving though Wink. My old dog took ds1&2 in her stride but the ones we have now are younger and livelier so we'll see!

So the whole mot story: went to get car retested with two children only to find that Dh had left me last years mot certificate and not the failure test, their system was down so couldn't find the previous mot or have an appointment to fit in a full mot today at all. Phoned Dh, about to go into a very important meeting, super stressed and no idea where he put it. Searched everywhere and resorted to tipping blue bin out all over my drive, leading to lots of tears when it wasn't there either. Went back and she looked for appointment, while I explained my emotional response, at which point the tester from my original test remembered me and said they'd be able to find it in his personal log. They found it and retested and I was out 35mins later with legal car although they can't print a certificate and are going to send it to me when there system is up. All done and I can relax now thankfully!!!!

On a more cheerful note, I was holding a baby at toddlers yesterday when ds2 came over and said 'mummy is that your baby?' So I said 'no he's still in my tummy'. He looked dubious and said 'really?'. Had to move baby and show him my bump is still there before he believed that I hadn't had the baby and dressed him in a little red dress in the 5 mins he'd been playing on the trampoline, did make me chuckle!

smogsville · 25/03/2015 12:05

I don't think I've had BHs, don't remember any with DD either. Bump is sometimes harder and then goes soft again but that's not BH is it?

Have just spent an hour in the bath Grin but it'll soon be time to go and fetch DD from nursery again Shock. Am finding long baths with a magazine the ultimate mat leave indulgence ATM.

Me too re the last proper pay check on Friday. Beginning to see the sense in working for a multinational and getting 9 months full pay. Although you have to give some back if you don't return to work so it's not entirely simple.

Yes Penguin and Chicken you're doing great well done. I was furious some of the time in early weeks with DD when she woke me up crying (a newborn! how dare she!) in middle of night for a feed. I knew it was ridiculous to be cross but that was my honest instinctive reaction as a tired new mum getting used to EBF and the horrors of night sweats and I'm not ashamed of it. I never ticked the sainthood box when I signed up for motherhood.

Speaking of dear darling DD. We went to check on her last night before going to bed ourselves as usual. She was fast asleep in bed, pjs on floor, room a pigsty, sweating like a pig because she had changed into her tankini before falling asleep. Managed to get her changed and back to sleep without too much drama thank goodness.

smogsville · 25/03/2015 12:08

xposted cinnamon.

What a shocker re the MOT but how marvellous that it's sorted. Thank goodness for the dude with the memory and the personal log book! You're a v good woman to take any ownership of the car whatsoever. I barely consent to drive ours.

IvegotaCaveTroll · 25/03/2015 12:10

I'm really tearful today. I wake at 4am and am basically bedridden til lunch with sickness and vomiting. I know how lucky I am but I'm so worried I won't feel better after the birth. What if the sickness doesn't stop?

It has to b baby on my stomach pressure so it has to stop doesn't it?

StuntNun · 25/03/2015 12:15

I had my DS4 on Monday by c-section due to a placental abruption. He was five weeks early so he's a tiny thing at 4 lb 14 oz. It looks like we won't be getting out until tomorrow because his feeding isn't great. It's a shame because the maternity ward is packed and there are people waiting for beds so the midwives are all super busy.

RL20 · 25/03/2015 12:21

Wow StuntNun congratulations. You're in the best place until he is feeding properly though, as I'm sure you know, although I'm sure you just want to be in home comforts now. It won't be long!
What a shame, I take it there is no postnatal ward or another centre you could be transferred to for the time being

londonlivvy · 25/03/2015 12:21

congratulations stuntnun. sorry it's all so busy with the midwives and hope it calms down soon.

RL20 · 25/03/2015 12:22

And I should ask, how are you feeling? I've not heard of placental abruption before Thanks

BrixtonBunny · 25/03/2015 12:24

Congratulations stunt! I hope you're both doing ok, what a shock. Big hugs to you and your boys, I'm sure they are thrilled to meet the newest member of their gang. Take care of yourself, hope you get to go home soon.

Cinnamon you poor thing! As others have rightly said, you're an absolute hero juggling everything as it is, no wonder the MOT fiasco tipped you over the edge a bit.

I'm very very lucky in that I get six months mat leave at full pay. Which is useful as we basically have no savings left due to the new house and building work eating all our cash! So will have to be careful and save as much as possible for the following six months.

Am really enjoying being off work - have spent the morning in bed, just did a big ocado order of freezer / cupboard food and some stuff to do a bit of batch cooking, so that if baby turns up soon we're not completely stuck for food. Also took someone's advice on a batch cooking thread and stocked up on hand wash / laundry liquid / dishwasher tabs / shampoo etc.

I've got so much stuff I should be doing (ahem painting the baby room) but I'm finding it very hard to be motivated. Hoping the nesting urge kicks in soon Wink

In other news I'm very much enjoying having a bathroom floor...!!

StuntNun · 25/03/2015 12:25

Afaik placental abruptions are a pretty rare complication where the placenta starts to come away before the baby has been delivered. This is my third though so it looks like I just don't make reliable placentas! It always means an EMCS since any contractions would cause the placenta to detach entirely. I'm slightly more annoyed about the fact that I had an anterior placenta praevia entirely covering the cervix that hadn't been picked up on any of the scans including the one I had last Wednesday. How on earth did they miss that and tell me I had a posterior placenta?

BananaToast · 25/03/2015 12:27

Congratulations StuntNun!

Sorry you're still feeling so awful CaveTroll - I'm sure things will resolve when baby arrives, but it's miserable for you in the mean time.

Glad you got the car sorted cinnamon, think I would have had the same reaction as you!

smog I am adding long baths with magazines to my mat leave to do list! I have been saving up magazines from my subscription for the last few months for when I finish work.

I am very lucky and will be on full pay until middle of August but will be putting away money to cover later months of mat leave. Have been chasing HR today though as I should have received a letter months ago detailing my maternity pay and it has never materialised.

IvegotaCaveTroll · 25/03/2015 12:29

Wow Stuntnun congratulations! How did the abrupt ion present?

I hope u are both doing well xx

daholster · 25/03/2015 12:54

Yes congrats stuntnun ! How did you know you had an abruption? Bleeding or pain or just movements? You sound very calm about the whole thing! Though no idea how they missed that placenta position, that's very scary!

Have been to dd's 24 month check this am, forgot the red book Hmm The health visitor was v happy with everything and Gave me some useful tips about how to help dd with new baby. I think the one I hadn't thought of is a "feeding time bag" which is a very special bag with toys of her choice/books we can get that only comes out at feeding time and are things that don't need me to help with my hands, so she can do them herself or sit with me and I can talk with her. And it means feeding time is not boring for her and its a bit of a treat to play with these special toys. Need to get a few and rotate them. So that was handy. Had already thought of involving her and having a baby dolly she can do things too when she can't help.

She also said with the pushing over other children incident that dd probably knows she shouldn't do it but a) cannot yet control her emotions enough yet to stop the impulse when she's frustrated and b) doesn't have the empathy yet to understand the consequence. Knowing she shouldn't do it doesn't translate into not doing it when they are so young. Interesting stuff.

I have a pain right in the centre of my pubic bone. I know it could be strain on the symphysis... But it feels very like a big spot or something (there's nothing there...) anyone else experience pain this way?

We've also been to a playfyn with a bouncy castle, stuff to jump off etc at the leisure centre this morning. Now I am knackered! Think she will nap this pm before swimming? Hmmm.... I doubt it.....

StuntNun · 25/03/2015 13:01

That was my third abruption so it was, while not expected, not exactly a surprise either. I went to the loo Monday lunchtime and there was a teeny bit of bright red blood so I put a pad on. By the time I got to the hospital there was a tiny bit more and over the course of the next few hours it just kept coming. From the first sign of blood to the placenta abrupting was about seven hours so they had plenty of time to prep me for the section.

ChickenMe · 25/03/2015 13:02

Congrats Stunt hope you get the help you need with your tiny little one and his feeding. All the best.
