Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

OP posts:

Welcome alittleegg!
Check out the stats of our due dates etc (at the beginning of the thread) and see if you have an EDD buddy Grin. I'm due on the 20th so not far from you!
Enjoy the first day of your maternity leave!
Lots of ladies on here have already had their babies Shock but thankfully I think they are all doing well. TheBooMonster who does our threads for us also had her baby the other day!

mswibble · 23/03/2015 13:09

Thanks RL! I've just had my dinner, leftover burger roll with ham and plastic cheese Blush, which obviously met with Bambinos approval as he got all jiggy with it before I had even finished! I surprised myself this morning, ended up getting quite upset and panicky, only after OH had left though as I didn't want to panic him. Kind of a mini meltdown Confused
Will try annias suggestion of the birthing ball if he seems quiet again.

Tip for the day - don't bother trying to wash feather pillows at home. Mine was in the tumble dryer for nearly two hours and was still sopping wet. Its now in the wheelie bin and my tumble dryer smells like a farmyard!

daholster I definitely would want to return the mattress, for that price you want something of a high quality - not yellowing stock that has been lying around for 4yrs.

Siarie · 23/03/2015 13:12

RL20 I'm booked in for a check in type appointment with the biRth centre at 36 weeks but it's low risk only. So they only take pregnancies 37-41 weeks (no inductions, no early babies etc). So it just depends how things go as to whether I'll be able to go there.

Cinnamon it was the triage part of the delivery ward at my hospital. In the day you can go to the maternal and foetal monitoring unit which is on a different floor but after 6pm you have to go to the delivery ward. I think pregnant ladies who are less than 17 weeks are told to go to a&e.

BrixtonBunny · 23/03/2015 13:13

Nunkie I have been having that for weeks! I think it's baby's head bouncing on my bladder. It's not very fun is it - even short walks make me waddle now! Hmm

mswibble · 23/03/2015 13:19

nunkie I have that too, its a bloody nightmare! It basically means that once I surrender the car keys to OH I'll be housebound as I can't cope with buses or walks of over 15mins or so anymore! Sometimes it happens just as I walk out of the bathroom, my bladder will be truly empty but will feel like there is another gallon in there straight away!

AnniaFausta · 23/03/2015 13:19

Well, the most important thing for the hospital bag just arrived ;)

StuntNun · 23/03/2015 13:20

Was it the toads?

Nunkie · 23/03/2015 13:20

Ah Brixton thank goodness it isn't just me! Grin
I was confused that the head would cause a prickling feeling so want sure if it was something else!
No, it's not very fun - though clenching my pelvic floor sometimes seems to ward it off a bit.
(or maybe i just need to walk a bit slower...? Reluctant to admit defeat tho.. walking into town at a good old clip is helping keep me sane/ward off cabin fever..)

IvegotaCaveTroll · 23/03/2015 13:34

Buying the toads for the hospital bag made me laugh so much it hurt my bump!
Best autocorrect by far!!

alittleegglayonaleaf · 23/03/2015 13:39

Congratulations to everyone who has already given birth, some Aries babies in our midst! The fanny daggers are so PAINFUL! I had it with both my pregnancies now and they get so sharp it feels like my body is about to rip apart from the vagina... whoever said pregnancy was a beautiful, blissful time!? AnniaFausta, what a lovely bear Star

mswibble · 23/03/2015 13:39

AW! Cute bear annia!
My mum has gone mad and bought bambino a Steiff bear, a squidgy one with 2015 embroidered on his foot, so I think we'll be taking that with us. I really hope that we don't get too many soft toys though, I feel horrendously guilty if I get rid of any. Even my own, it was very traumatic choosing which would survive the cull I initiated when I left home. Confused had to keep reminding myself that they were just soft toys ... Bloody Toy Story! Grin

mswibble, I have exactly the same thing with a hardcore of soft toys from being a kid... actually, that's why the toy for the hospital bag is the thing that's been causing me the most angst for the last month. My parents have got a photograph of me in the hospital in my tiny crib with a rabbit which I have hugged and loved and held on to and love dearly (hem), and something all deep and primal was very insistent that we should have a similar photo of baby as soon as possible.

The bear is the small 'my first teddy bear' from John Lewis, if anyone's interested.

Lauren82000 · 23/03/2015 14:08

I still have my teddy bear from when I was a baby. My mum and dad stole it from my loft and used it in my dad's speech at my wedding! Very embarrassing and no one knew what was going on... Suffice to say 'Griz' the faded yellow teddy bear is back safely where he belongs in the loft with the other soft toys my mum insisted on handing over when I moved out.

PenguinPoser · 23/03/2015 14:38

Toads are definitely an essential. Still making me giggle. I would recommend ones that stick in place. My Lansinoh ones do but my mothercare ones don't and they are harder to keep put.
Sorry you're so sore Chicken hope it settles soon. My engorgement lasted 2 days, how long had yours been going on now? Get plenty of Lansinoh on your nipples. It works as lip balm too!

Welcome littleegg!

daholster I definitely wouldn't be happy with the mattress try and send it back!

Glad that baby had woken up mswibble. Sounds like it likes plastic cheese Grin

Going to try leaving house again after current feed... Wish us luck. DD feeding ok but was unofficially weighed again this morning by bf woman and she isn't really gaining back yet. Need to wait for midwife tomorrow for day 10 weight and see if she's worried or not. Bf woman suggested I could top up with ebm but I have achieved stopping that and don't really want to unless necessary. At least she isn't losing weight anymore. Her latch is apparently good but I'm a bit Hmm cos my nipple is getting mis shapen... Bf support didn't seen concerned but I am as it's still a bit sore too. Will ask mw tomorrow.

Having newborn photoshoot on wed looking forward to that with some trepidation also!

Underwood2013 · 23/03/2015 15:34

penguin very exciting about photo shoot... I did that with ds and can't wait to do it with baby 2.0

Re stuffed toys, I am really hoping baby 2.0 takes to them as we seem to have accumulated quite a collection for ds but he isn't bothered with any of them... But like many of you I couldn't get rid of any so they just take up space atm!

Heating guy back today... What do we think, will we finally have heating again?

Hope everyone is having a nice afternoon, sounds like a few of us were intent on spending it with feet up Grin. I'm watching supernanny for some entertainment tips

Lauren82000 · 23/03/2015 15:49

Have decided to buy DD's new bed and hope it can be delivered next week. I know your not supposed to introduce a big change this close to baby but she is in our bed every night saying she hates her bed and at least one of us can get in hers and get a proper kip. It's not like we are going to take her current bed away (It needs changing back to a cot but it'll stay in her room anyway.)

Ah, and you MsWibble? Another companion in bladder-thistles! :0D
Just sitting in Starbucks bracing self for the stingy walk back. Wondering if I can justify a second packet of stroopwaffels to set me on my way... (Turns out I can!)
Am fairly sure Peanut isn't engaged yet as I don't feel any more space up near the ribs. So Gawd only knows what is going to become of my bladder once they are! :0o

LOL at all the toads getting packed into the hospital bags (and bras!) :0D

Bah, getting slight headache now - hoping it's just a weather headache. (Come to think of it, it could well be a stroopwaffel-induced sugar headache :0) Guess the MV will reveal all tomorrow (gulp!)

cinnamongreyhound · 23/03/2015 16:20

Toads are breast pads from an autocorrected post earlier StuntNun. Tommee tippee ones were my favourite and I'm stocking up when Tesco have them on offer.

My sad news of the day is that my car is going to cost £1200 to fix Sad I kind of knew they would ha e to put in a new part and not adjust the existing as why would they when we wouldn't know either way but because of the problem the caliber is buggered so that's extra too. Good news Dh can collect it tomorrow when he's finished at the dr.

All sign of contractions/tightenings/discomfort have gone since about 10.30, so 5hrs of them and now nothing for
6hrs Sad

MoominMama22 · 23/03/2015 16:26

Mswibble and RL I posted a week or so ago about RFM and the problems mat units are having with so many women needlessly concerned. Obviously you know your body better than anyone and I'm not saying don't seek help, but movements peak at 32 weeks, you will feel less and they will be different as baby runs out of space. As long as you feel some movement you shouldn't worry about the type. This is advice from my very experienced Midwife MiL.
Warning signs to always be alert for is not noticing baby move in 24hrs, or lying still cold drink etc and feeling no movements within 2hrs, or feeling extreme jerky panicked movement. Other than those scenarios , you can relax! :)

daholster don't take no for an answer, take it back! Obviously you had to open to check it.

Underwood2013 · 23/03/2015 16:34

annia that thread is hilarious! Thanks for sharing!

Ouch cinnamon. Ours is going in tomorrow for a service. (Gulp)

RL20 · 23/03/2015 16:54

Thanks Moomin.

Annia I saw that thread last week on the 'active' page and had to read! It did make me laugh.

Well I don't know about 'fanny daggers' but I'm definitely getting hip daggers today! Mainly in my left hip. No idea what body part it could possibly be!

Well have been at my mums today, as I am most days, but think we were both getting a bit irritable. It's difficult as my pregnancy hormones can be everywhere and mums going through the menopause at the minute! So I think sometimes we can be a bit snappy with eachother. So I'm off home now to make a cottage pie, I think
