Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

Skyra I had my nesting this weekend I think, I actually did the ironing yesterday while everyone was out instead of being sat on my bum reading! and I cleaned the bathroom on Saturday. Speaking of bathroom had to rescue DH from a big spider last night, it was black with a big bum a little white flash on it and it was bold. (Ran at me so had to hop in the bath) Luckily DH went to get the handheld dyson so I sucked it up but it was still running around in the bottom so had to empty it outside in the bin. Hate spiders but they don't freak me out as much as DH so I have to catch them Hmm He's a proper girls blouse isn't he?

Got back left side pelvis ache and my right wrist is aching again. Bring on Friday 4pm...

Anyone else still working thinking like me, in the back of my mind working this late (will be 36+2 friday) I am wasting all my energy/mobility on being at work and I'll be stuck at home for weeks till I pop being a big round ball of no get up and go so my last little pottering bits won't get done?

There won't be any lie in's for me on maternity as I'll still have to take DD to preschool but at least I won't have to do it at 8am every morning. I'll have to rope DH into getting one child ready while I get the other ready instead of me doing DD and myself and DH getting extra time in bed with the ipad! Angry

I think it depends how much you do generally anyway SquattingNeville, my Dh often says he was going to do something when I've got annoyed about how I always have to do stuff and I just got there first so I think perhaps I have a lower threshold for how long we leave the kids before taking action. I also think that they don't neccessarily consider how much more tired we are during pregnancy particularly if you're a get and do kind of person. But having said that I'd have been p'd off at your scenario.

Was it the antenatal ward or a&e Sairie? They are very different places so if you were at a&e I don't think it will have a bearing on your birth experience. I don't think that hcp are always great at explaining themselves as they take a lot of knowledge for granted as they do it all the time. Did they tell you anything about your cervix? If it's still high, thick and not opening at all then I can see that they won't be worried. As far as I know BH aren't effective at actually moving the baby just the muscle kind of flexing itself but someone else might be along to say different.

Sorry your worried RL20, hope it's a one off and you've just irritated your throat.

Slightly Envy at the idea of being able to go to the cinema and for lunch in the daytime just because you fancy it kismac Grin, enjoy!!

Car is in and we are almost home, minded kids are both fast asleep either side of me and ds2 is chatting away to Dh in the front, it's very cute. I was woken at 5.30 with what felt like a mild contraction, had them all morning 5-10 mins apart but unless my pain threshold has massively increased they are not painful enough to do anything effective wrt labour but may be moving baby down so I'm quite excited! Dh is slightly panicking Wink

Lauren That Spider sounds creepy!! I have to get DH to rescue me! The big butt ones are the worst be careful with them false widows about don't they have white on there bum?

So Me and DH are gamers and we live 90% of the time at a large desk in our living room with 2 Screens each and the TV above our head with a recliner each, I can no longer get out of the recliner as it is to low! So had to dig out my old computer chair to sit at desk so I can actually get up so ended up changing living room round!!

Having a little rest lol moving stuff around is hard work when you are about to drop! DH is going to go mad when he see's I have moved stuff around Hmm

Cinnamon If I remember we are due on the same date glad your DH is panicking my DH seems to be way to calm for my liking!

DH has booked his time of after the Easter holiday as he is a teacher he told me if she comes early then his mum will come and help me Angry I am generally a calm person but I went a bit ape shit at this comment!

Lucyandpoppy · 23/03/2015 10:57

pops head in already updated the fb page but I'm now booked for a csec mid april @ 38weeks eeep!

daholster We did talk briefly but I have IBD too (crohns) and at my 34w consultant app last week Dr reccomended csec because I have total colitis (so inflammation goes all the way around my large colon down to rectum). Her exact words were something along the lines of 'youre a young girl, lets try and preserve your bottom half' lol! But she had some nasty stories of recto-vaginal fistulae (pooing out my vagina? Rather avoid that if poss!) and tearing and so on. Also the risk of a third degree tear or anything effecting my sphincter terrifys me - having a strong sphincter has saved my behind on many occassions! I think it is especially important when you have ibd to have those muscles in tip top condition to minimise the ever present risk of pooing yourself! X

AnniaFausta · 23/03/2015 10:57

Just out of interest, does anyone else find that sitting on the yoga/exercise/baby ball means you get more movement from baby? I've bought mine upstairs to the study to sit on (working from home today and better than the office chair for posture/fetal positioning, I think), and there seems to be a lot more activity going on!

kismac · 23/03/2015 11:01

He he, sorry cinnamon. I've been off for 2 weeks so feel pretty ready for baby now. Batching cooking is done and all clothes have been washed and put away. Cleaning company is coming on Wednesday as DH goes mental if I try and clean or move anything. He's stopped giving me cuddles as he's convinced that'll make the baby come!

cinnamongreyhound · 23/03/2015 11:08

Yes I think so skyra13, 6th april. Because my other two were two weeks overdue I think we've just been assuming this one would be the same so was a bit worried this morning. Sorry but your comment about Dh's mum just coming over did make me smile! I'm sure if baby did come early he's be there in a flash!!!

daholster · 23/03/2015 11:18

Lucy hello! Yes we did chat before. Yes to preserving your bottom half!!! Happily for me UC is much less likely to fistulate than Crohns (making abnormal connection while tissue is healing so yes you could if you tore get a hole and then poo from where you don't want to, eep!!!) and if I had Crohns I would defo be doing the same!!!

I had so many issues with continence and pain and absolute misery before my op that I am actually a bit terrified of having my reversal, since you lose your internal rectal sphincter and also your new "rectum" to store pooey stuff (poo is rather a loose term for it without the colon! Yes pun intended Wink ) is made out of small bowel and has to be "trained" into storing instead of constantly just moving stuff along. At least 6 months of feeling those urges of not being able to hold it in again fills me with dread... But all for a good cause I guess if I can get to going every few hours in a totally continent fashion! So... I now want nothing messing with my pelvic floor either... But equally with my odd anatomy now I don't really want an obstetrician who (with all due respect) has no clue about my bowel surgery really rummaging about in a similar place and scarring stuff up! So she said to try for NVD since I've done it before and we will see how I'm doing... If any problems then of course I'll have a section. I think I am more open to epidural this time because I am also frightened of prolapsing my stoma or worsening my hernia in a painful fashion while pushing, and if its very sore or I am worrying so much about it that it is affecting the birth then I would be open to epidural if its best for baby. Easier to progress to surgery if needed then too I suppose. We'll see. Nice to hear from you, hope your Crohns is behaving Smile . Stupid IBD.

daholster · 23/03/2015 11:21

PS I'm now panicking about fistulas! Rarer in UC right... Much much rarer... Confused

skyra13 · 23/03/2015 11:26

I bloody Hope he would be there, I have made him give me his school phone number just in case!!

I put him in his place saying I did not want mine or his mum there it is our first so I expect and want just him and me there! Well I got no choice she coming out of me not him Grin

daholster · 23/03/2015 11:35

Crib mattress just arrived! Hoorah! Hm, a bit disappointed. Got it from Amazon. Still in plastic sealed bag but looks kind of old... Yellowed bar code and foam of mattress slightly yellowed. Batch is 2011 though. Paid £74 instead of £90 from actual Sleepcurve website. Sure it's new but not sure if is an old model, looks like its been in storage a while... Hmm packaged, but old. Dunno if there us a newer model, maybe I'll ring...

ChickenMe · 23/03/2015 11:37

Toads-auto correct at its best. My boobs are hugely engorged, leaking and sore. I can't use the shop bought toads as they irritate my nipple. I've wrapped a scarf around them.

LadyNovember · 23/03/2015 11:51

First official day of maternity leave for me Grin haven't even gotten dressed yet!

Our crib mattress also arrived this morning, yay! As well as the changing mat for the changer.

Yesterday I made these super cute frame things for the nursery wall...stole the idea from Pinterest Shock

Going to get some non-bio powder in a bit so I can start on the baby clothes washing...really must get that hospital bag packed... Blush

daholster · 23/03/2015 11:59

Hm I rang sleepcurve, its the newest model but an old batch. She said if its yellowed then that's just the aging process of the foam but its worth thinking carefully in case mould has grown in it. Annoyingly I took the plastic cover off to check inside - now I don't think I can return it because I can't prove its faulty???

daholster · 23/03/2015 12:00

Love that toads is now the new name for breast pads!!! Grin

LadyNovember · 23/03/2015 12:04

I'd return it anyway daholster, £74 is a lot to pay for something you're not happy with!

mswibble · 23/03/2015 12:07

First day of mat leave for me (well I have two weeks of AL before mat begins on April 13), but the point is I'm not at work! Hurrah! So far I've had a stress about bambino not kicking me to bits as he usually does, washed a feather pillow (mmm, not my best idea), washed up, hoovered and put a towel wash on. Currently lay on the sofa after drinking two pints of cold icy water in an attempt to wake bambino up. He does move, there have been definite kicks this morning, rolls and squirms etc but I do think its not as much as normal. Will monitor it for the next hour or so and then make a decision to go into ANDU or not.

daholster · 23/03/2015 12:10

I am leaning that way but don't think I'll get my money back... Best not tell dh don't you think... He wasn't up for buying a new one anyway!!! Angry

skyra13 · 23/03/2015 12:21

daholster I would not be happy paying £74 for it to turn up yellow! to be honest I spent £12 on mine as it will be replaced when have another baby so don't see point in spending loads was really surprised with the quality for £12 from kiddiecare really nice and waterproof! and ofc free delivery always a bonus!

The pics and frames are lovely Lady

RL20 · 23/03/2015 12:28

Skyra another calm other half here. Like I keep saying, I think he thinks my due date is actually further away than it is. I keep trying to explain to him that although I have a due date, baby will come whenever he wants to!

Lauren I'm usually the spider catcher too. Although I'll give the cat more credit as we barely ever have any bugs in here because of him! Grin

LucyandPoppy yay for the date! Good luck.

Kismac this is the first day of my 4th week of maternity leave now Blush it's gone by fast so far but with 4 weeks potentially left to go (or 5 or 6!) I have a feeling it's going to go slow now, especially as it's my last antenatal class this week.

Mswibble keep us updated on baby movements. I've been in for reduced movements three times now, (well the first time a community midwife came out to me at home). I'm a worrier but always want to be safe rather than sorry. I was worried on Saturday morning as there wasn't move movement, and I had panicked myself in the night when I woke up lying on my right side. I had something to eat and a couple of glasses of drink, monitored silently for an hour or so (as I didn't want to worry my other half) and eventually he woke up properly, it just took a little bit longer than normal.

Daholster definitely make a complaint - even if it's old stock, should they be allowed to sell it on if it's yellowed? Obviously I'm not a mattress expert but I don't think I'd be happy with that

skyra13 · 23/03/2015 12:39

RL I am the same with my DH I'm like you might have the time booked of but she will come when she wants to!! Grin

Getting abit pissed at my news feed on Facebook coming up with horrible stories to do with babies or pregnant women the other day a women had gone to buy some 2nd hand cloths from a women and the women stabbed her and took out her 7 month baby from her tummy! Shock Dh declared after reading it that I am to not leave the house! lol

I want to read some lovely stories not these horrific things!

alittleegglayonaleaf · 23/03/2015 12:47

Hi ladies, I would love to join your group - I'm due on April 26 (2nd baby) and started maternity leave today - the sweet relief, I forgot how much energy it took me to work at this stage! I haven't been able to read through the chat in it's entirety so forgive if I repeat anything previously asked. Daholster, if I can just join in directly, you should 100% send your package back and explain you had called them regarding the product quality and they told you to check for mould so you opened the packaging. They should give you a full refund for that as product is below paar for something bought and paid for as new.
Thanks ladies!

skyra13 · 23/03/2015 13:04

Welcome to the chatterboxes alittleegglayonaleaf Grin Start enjoying that Maternity leave while you can :)

Nunkie · 23/03/2015 13:07

Welcome egg! :0)

Blimey - walking into town is getting harder. After the first ten minutes it felt like someone was intermittently irritating my bladder with a thistle! I don't mean cystitis, its a different sort of more 'on and off', sudden and stabby sensation that moves around a bit, alomost like a really unpleasant tickle! I've been getting it for a while, but its definitely getting worse now.

Is that what people are talking about when they mention fanny daggers? :0D

I'm pretty confident it isnt a UTI, as they check me carefully for those due to me being cystitis-prone anyway, and i routinely drink loads of water also.

Just wondering if anyone else is getting something similar during longer walks? (it stops right away once i stop/ sit down)
