Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ChickenMe · 23/03/2015 17:10

Two actual cold wet toads placed in the bra would be perfect for breast relief.
I'm like u Penguin I don't want to express either. That's what caused the engorgement-I was exp 60ml x 8 a day to clear DD's jaundice but now we are feeding on demand. So the boob is making too much milk!
Short term tho ebm and even formula haven't harmed DD cos she still prefers the breast and its early days still so if you have to do it again short term your Mw should be able to advise you. Mine says im to hand express a small amount just to clear the boob and encourage DD to take longer feeds. What's your DD's feeding pattern like? Mines a grazer!

roastpots · 23/03/2015 17:15

Phew - just spent most of the afternoon catching up on this thread! Great to hear everyone's news and I love the idea of a fanny dagger - I know exactly what you mean. I am 38+5 and am definitely in the camp of being happy for the baby to stay put for a little longer. I still have 4 days of work left (I know - it was a crazy decision taken in a moment of optimism) and would love to have a few days of relaxing/solo coffees/cinema trips before baby arrives. This is my second but we're carrying on with DD's childcare so there's a chance I might get a few days 'off'.... Lovely to hear news of the babies arriving already.

Massive congratulations on the progress you've made with BF, penguin. I had to give formula top ups to DD and know how hard it can be to pull back to EBF from that point. It sounds like it is going really well though. Totally exhausting at the beginning though, hey?!

PenguinPoser · 23/03/2015 17:36

Yup roastpots exhausting! I did 2 days of formula top ups for jaundice before my milk came in. At least now if I need to I can use ebm.
Chicken not quite sure if she has a pattern yet! Seems to be a few big feeds maybe 3-4 then grazing in between. Still anxious about her getting enough. I need a boob full/empty gauge!!!

Annia that thread is funny Grin

Ah RL hope things are ok with your mum and I'm jealous of your cottage pie!
I personally would still err on the side of caution regarding fetal movements. I don't disagree with moomins mil however the individual pregnancy circumstances must be taken into account too for example if it's already a higher risk pregnancy. If in doubt I wouldn't date risk it although I do accept most people are fine. Smile

smogsville · 23/03/2015 18:02

Lauren that spider! You are brave. I'd love to have you next door for emergencies when DH not here. I went on the London Zoo arachnophobia course and even held a tarantula but then went back to living in a flat in zone 2 with zero exposure to wildlife and the phobia came back. I had to deal with a large house spider I found in DD's room fairly recently by hoovering it up and trying to do it without freaking out in front of her, that was a challenge.

Am so tired today even though have spent day with Mum and DD at nursery this morning. Was going to cook something but it'll be gourmet beans on toast for one of DH's fast day meals. Fortunately he knows better than to pass comment.

Skyra is your DH not allowed to take pat leave early if baby comes early? I know it's a bit different for teachers but surely a baby is an exceptional event?

Hooray for everyone now on AL/ mat leave and BrewBrewBrew to everyone still working

Daholster you won't be surprised to hear I wouldn't put up with the yellow scenario (see Brixton's post Wink).

Nunkie I reckon what you're feeling is what I rushed to the doc with last week. Went away after two days. I'm now back to normal walking speed.

Cinnamon, sorry to hear about the car.

RL20 · 23/03/2015 18:52

Yes penguin I agree. I will always be a worrier anyway! Just grateful that we are lucky in the way that we can just phone up the midwives office for advice or to sort of self-refer incase of reduced movements. I definitely feel more grateful for the NHS now I'm pregnant.
Hope things with your new baby are going well Smile

Daholster what's the latest on the mattress situation?

So pissed off that other half has decided he will be going for the 2 nights on the stag do this weekend. It's in this country, but if anything was to happen it's not like he's going to be in any state to come back quickly. Angry

daholster · 23/03/2015 18:53

This baby had dropped and has popped back up again! So sore!!!

Return has been accepted (though I didn't tell them I had opened the packet - its irrelevant in my opinion because it's not fit for purpose) so now just have to organise myself to get the printer plugged in and print the returns labels Hmm

siarie the hospital thing sounds rubbish. Nope that's not normal. You might have to wait lots in triage but you shouldn't be ignored and people should communicate.

Although it feels like the baby has come up quite high this evening I've had a lot of "wet" down there this afternoon... And bits of plug as I did in 2nd trimester. Was at a friends and kept checking my trousers and her sofa... Also like I couldn't almost control my wee and I wondered if my waters were about to go! They haven't yet. And now he is up by my boob!!! Still got the wee thing and the wet thing though...

37 weeks tomorrow!

Oh and I washed the baby clothes including a new cotton short babygrow in case it is v hot in hospital. The blooming thing needs IRONING!!! Who designs baby clothes that need ironing for goodness sake?! My iron is almost bigger than the whole suit...

And dh got a promotion Grin Clever old stick Star and I can't sit here and drink a bottle of that lovely Wine that is waiting for him to get home!!!

daholster · 23/03/2015 18:55

Oh, no panicking btw, there's no blood in the plug!

ChickenMe · 23/03/2015 19:12

I know Penguin it's hard to have confidence in breast feeding when you've had a bit of a scare. We have kept a chart of all her nappy changes and of her feeds to show the HV. It's so hard to move on from the security of the bottle.

skyra13 · 23/03/2015 19:17

Smog Lol DH he can go whenever it happens but he would prefer it if he got 2 weeks Easter hol then 2 weeks of for maternity, I did say when he came home today I hope she comes early and ruins his plans lol cus he was pissing me off :)

Lauren82000 · 23/03/2015 20:10

Oh dear one of our frogs has some sort of fungus growing out of its mouth. Shock DH has had to go out for a little bottle of vodka so he can euthanise the poor thing before it spreads to our other frog. Going to have to hold his hand while he does it. Not because he is sad but because he can't do anything by himself. Grin

smogsville · 23/03/2015 20:13

LOL skyra I see what he means.

daholster that's great news, you both deserve it, champagne for everyone (although when I had some on v day I thought I was going to vom, so maybe not for you Blush).

FiRaffe · 23/03/2015 20:25

Blimey chatterboxes, just took me half an hour to catch up! New lady started today so couldn't check up at work.

Have packed the hospital bag incase things happen tomorrow and we have to stay in. Unlikely but nice to know we have enough to cover an emergency

daholster · 23/03/2015 20:46

Lauren Shock poor frog!!! What sort of frig is it? Not like my toads! Frig. Seriously? FROG!!! I'm doing well today Grin

And how do you euthanase a frog with vodka? Force feed it or wrap it in it? A bit morbid but I'm intrigued, sorry!

Sounds like a false widow spider you chucked out, we had one too. Evil shiny black and big, just looked baaaaad... V unpleasant bite apparently.

Thanks smogs Smile

dd's new tablets seem to be working for her chest along with the extra inhalers but they are giving her dreadful diarrhoea and nappy rash... What to do what to do? They do finish Thursday but still, her poor skin! And I doubt nursery will be too happy... But I'll give it a go since I know its the tablets, not a tummy bug. Hmm. Again.

daholster · 23/03/2015 20:47

Oh, and good luck tomorrow FiRaffe!

AnniaFausta · 23/03/2015 21:10

Mutterings of frustration coming from this quarter this evening... DH's family and my family have very different attitudes to diary management and scheduling. DH and I have, over the years, adapted to each other, but every so often we run up into the other culture and exasperation ensues.

Today's exhibit - BiL is moving to take up a new job at the end of the month. We knew he was coming to town for a bit to see his parents and catch up. DH got an e-mail today from FiL asking if we wanted to see BiL, so we phoned to get some details as obviously I'm staying at work Wed-Fri and it would be nice if both of us could be there.

There are currently no plans.

Given I come from a family where this sort of thing would have been in the diary months ago, not still up in the air the week of the potential event, I am taking deep breaths. Doesn't help that I'm extra nervous about passing 37 weeks and being fully baked, so want to have a firm grasp of my calendar for the next few weeks!

AnniaFausta · 23/03/2015 21:33

Oh dear, and now I'm all tearful and confessing to DH that I'm a terrible human being for venting on here! Bloody hormones.

Lauren82000 · 23/03/2015 21:39

Daholster apparently you put 25ml of vodka in 175ml of water and it should go to sleep, then you put more vodka in to kill it.

Didn't quite work for ours though stubborn thing obviously didn't want to go. Sad We ended up sticking the pot the frog was in in a bowl of ice water and that put it to sleep then plopped some more vodka in just to make sure. DH is going to stick it in the bin before he goes to bed.

It was an african dwarf frog about an inch long, not to be confused with the African clawed frog which are gross. Anyway poor Froggy is no more and One Eyed Willy is all by himself. Confused

MoominMama22 · 23/03/2015 21:58

Brew Cake Annia, it doesn't take anything for me to cry these days. Good/bad/real/fictional... Normal to feel edgy when people seem so relaxed about dates and you are thinking any one of these days you may pop!
I couldn't believe all of this baby's grandparents were out of the country this week. Some without telling me! Grrrr Communication never killed anyone!

Poor froggy Lauren Sad will you get a new friend for the lonely froggy that's left?

cinnamongreyhound · 23/03/2015 21:58

Lots of time with nappy off daholster, wait rose bottom butter is great and I always go back to good old sudocrem! Better to take the full course and then go back to Dr about another maintenance drug perhaps? Is it just a case of getting over a bug and the breathing getting better or is it going to be an ongoing breathing issue? Congrats to your dh btw.

Sorry you're feeling frustrated AnniaFausta, dh and I are the opposite! If something hasn't been planned to the nth degree he won't even consider doing it, no spontaneity here unless I want an incredibly stressed hubby! Just think it'll be nice to see bil but if you don't make it then you will see him at some point in the future Flowers

Lauren82000 · 23/03/2015 22:05

Moomin we were running the tank down, so no new friend for One Eye. He does have a neon tetra in there with him and he is the last of his kind too. We joke that it'll survive a nuclear blast as all it's friends have died but 6 months later he's still swimming away. We thought he would pine for his fellow fishes as they are schooling fish but nope he is a loner and now he just has his frog friend left.

daholster · 23/03/2015 22:10

Yep cinnamon think I will crack open the Metanium! I use Bepanthen every change even normally because she is a sensitive soul but the spots are out!!! For some reason sudocrem doesn't seem to help her at all.

It's only a week course. Then see. Missed her inhaler this pm because we were out and I forgot to bring it with me and she was wheezing this evening so maybe it's the ipratropium inhaler (which she HATES) which is helping the most? Will know when the tablet stops I suppose. I think it's a seasonal allergy triggering the problem plus possibly last week's smog since Thurs/Fri she was much worse. In which case it will possibly end up taking meds over the particular trigger times in the year or something... Wait and see what the dr thinks I suppose. She had the same last year less severely at exactly the same time for 2-3 months Sad and then was a bit wheezy in winter too (more likely viruses I reckon). The GP did say if the tablets work she can use them for a week at a time when she is bad and if it's not enough we could consider long term. But given the bum I doubt that will be an option!!!

FiRaffe · 24/03/2015 07:17

Hope she is better and they can get to the bottom of the problem daholster. Tree pollen is definitely just hitting so it could be that - hayfever doesn't always show as sneezing in asthmatics.

Growth scan this afternoon - hopefully we have a consistently small baby with better blood flow to the brain today. 3pm is a great scan time in terms of not having to go back to work, but work today is going to be painful! At least the new lady is only part time so I might be able to keep up today!

skyra13 · 24/03/2015 07:33

Morning All Brew

Lauren One Eyed Willy is all by himself Made me feel really sad and a little teary! omg pregnancy hormones!!

Fi Good luck with the growth scan fingers crossed for you hope all is ok.

Hooray DH has gone to work I do feel sorry for him he has been suffering with a cold a sinuses for around 4 weeks and now a cough on top of that but I am a bit sick of hearing about it! Sad I wish I could magicly get rid of it for him he really is suffering and the doctor refused to give him any antibiotics and it has moved to his chest really think he needs something! Yet they were happy to give me a pregnant women antibiotics for sinus issues!!

This weekend he has declared he is not doing anything to try an get rid of his cold seems fair!

Now going to make a sausage sarnie craving meat so much its stupid!! :)

Heyitsholly · 24/03/2015 07:44

Im also having a growth scan today Firaffe! And renal clinic which i hate. Had weird dreams about being induced which is silly as everythings been fine the last couple of checks

Had the worst night sleep up nearly hourly and when i finally slept four police cars turned up and smashed next doors front door in ( nobhead neighbour hence the move!)

However im up and feeling good, moved my last work day to tomorrow only six days difference but have been feeling so relaxed since i made the decision and bp dropped even further when checked on the day that i made the decision. Cheeky gits tried to encourage me to stay longer as they havent got a replacement ......erm no youve had enough notice!

Sending happy and positive rays to you all lovely ladies! Were on the home straight now! Flowers

Dying to know how you got on boo! Hope alls well

smogsville · 24/03/2015 07:54

Good luck on scans today ladies.

Skyra my DH is in a similar state to yours and I too am a bit bored of hearing it Shock but he brought me tea in bed and did DD's breakfast so I really am the bitch queen from hell for harbouring mean thoughts!
