Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

OP posts:

WooHoo, congrats boo!!!

nunkie sounds normal to me. I too have had a fairly textbook straight forward pregnancy (ongoing morning sickness and iron deficiency aside), but I understand what you mean! I don't think i've actually made the link that this bump on my belly is actually going to be a human being i have to take care off.

brixton i'm having a homebirth but no one is bothering coming to the house before hand :/ how do they know I don't live in a hovel? Pool is coming next week, maybe it will seem more real then that im actually having a baby!

I agreed with that OBEM link from friday too. I really wish they would show more NATURAL births, but i guess that wouldn't make good TV would it. I watched some brill ones last night on you tube, i think they were from a natel hypnotherapy site but were all bril. Maybe i'll film mine to watch back and see how I actually coped. Or is that just a bit weird??

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 22/03/2015 12:07

Wow so much has happened since I last checked in - congrats on all the babies! Was waiting 'till mat leave to catch up (it's finally here - yay!!), but there's been loads of threads so I think I'll just lurk for a bit and work out what's going on!

MoominMama22 · 22/03/2015 12:25

Congratulations Boo!!!!StarFlowers

siarie Glad you made that trip and got home without any dramas.

Hugs daholster, think you've already had lots of good advice , hope you can get somewhere with it

Brewnunkie at times I feel exactly the same. People mention fear and they are always talking about labour.... And I'm like Hell no I'm scared of looking after a newborn, a baby, a toddler, a child for the rest of my life with no idea what I'm doing.
But now labour is approaching I am getting fretful about that too which is taking my mind off the real wobbles about my lack of competence as a mother/generally as an adult.

Try not to worry about the swelling, none of my shoes fit, my hands are sausages, my face is puffy and the docs at hospital didn't think I had severe oedema so who knows what is! Keep an eye on it of course

Welcome back littlegreycat happy lurking..

Yay congrats Boo and Misty.
We are being discharged today. Penguin it sounds like we have had a very similar experience as my DD has jaundice. I'm also worried about her getting enough milk. I've told OH as soon as we get home it's operation boob. I'm just gonna spend all my time with her, feet up, cup of tea just helping her and I to gain confidence because she is still a little shaky. She latches on, convinces herself she hasn't and cries. It certainly is an art!
Did you have forceps too? Shock

FiRaffe · 22/03/2015 12:38

Great news Chicken.

Just put all the baby clothes, blankets and sheets in the wash. Once they have dried it's packing time! Want to have the bags ready for Tuesday's rescan just incase.

smogsville · 22/03/2015 12:42

Congrats Boo! Hope you're start in to recover.

Yes daholster I second the nap suggestion for you. How much does your DH need to lose? In an ideal world mine would drop 2 stone. Realistically I would be happyish with just the one. Like you it's health issues not vanity that concerns me - I always emphasise this with DH so he knows it's bc I want him around for a good long time!

Penguin/ River hour long feeds at the beginning are v normal. As they get used to it they become more efficient. I remember ringing community mvs in a panic a few weeks in saying that DD wasn't feeding properly and they patiently explained she was just getting better at it and therefore faster.

Nunkie that anticoagulants thing following a section must be new since 2011. I must say my consultant didn't mention it when booking my date.. I do remember having the wear the anti DVT socks afterward and being naughty as ditching them early as i hated them so much.

Glad things are going well minipie.

Lauren82000 · 22/03/2015 12:43

Woohoo I knew it was worth coming to MiLs with DH and DD. Got a bacon toasty, 2 brews and my hair cut. Best bit is she told me she was taking DD for an hour or two this afternoon! Grin No stroppy child for me till later on.

smogsville · 22/03/2015 12:51

Lauren I'm always so jel of your Sunday bacon toastie when I haven't had one myself. Our local bakery sells hot bacon and cheese pastry slice thingys I might have to get one en route back from nursery drop off tomorrow morning...

LadyNovember · 22/03/2015 12:53

Also agree with everything you said nunkie, as well as everyone else's input. Definitely more scared of the first few weeks than actual labour. Actually, scared about the rest of my life right now! I feel so ungrateful and silly because this is a planned baby, and it's been so easy to conceive/be pregnant etc. DH and I consider ourselves "ready" but how ready can you ever be!?

I've finished work now, yay! Means I can actually log on here and see how everyone's doing..so far, if I miss a few days it seems like there's 50 pages to read and a few births in the mix! Shock

I'm due April 23rd, definitely gonna be one of the last ones here Grin

Nunkie · 22/03/2015 13:04

Guys, you are awesome! I feel so much better reading your responses and realising it's normal to feel this way.
(Thanks too for the reassurance on the swelling - I'll definitely keep an eye on it but that has helped calm my nerves, which is probably good for blood pressure, etc)

We have decided to spend some time just sorting the last few things today (yes Firaffe good idea - clothes, playlists, DP is taking the car for a last clean once he's reattached the child seat :0) so we're all physically ready for Peanut, then I focus on mentally preparing to welcome them whenever they're ready. So thanks again, guys! That really helped, feels like a weight has been lifted off my mind (tho I suspect it might have been added to my tummy instead - ha!)

Looks like I may have missed a few things... Has TheBooMonster had a baby??

And RL20 do you have Reuben on your names list? Cos we also do if Peanut is a boy! :0D [high five!] (Tho not sure whether with or without the 'e' for us, and must also prep for everyone assuming they're Jewish for evermore Smile). Vincent/Vinnie and Henry are the others in the running. I quite like Sandy too, tho not sure it sounds so good with DPs surname.
I'm also a bit partial to Gabriel tho I think more as a middle name, if I can get it past DP. (He is Irish, so it's a good fit! :0)

Girl-wise we are spoilt for choice on ones we like: Rosie, Rowan, Isla, Iona, Frankie, Nina, Eva ... I could go on... Haven't dared think about it too much as the time approaches...

Daholster met someone else who is considering Monty yesterday. It's an awesome name!

PenguinPoser · 22/03/2015 13:34

Chicken glad you're getting home. Yes sounds like we are having very similar experience although I had ventouse rather than forceps. Thankfully dd didn't need admission for her jaundice (well I thought she did but mw didn't!). It's slowly improving now. Once we have a postnatal thread will post birth story.

Nunkie yes Boo has delivered! Glad you feel a bit better.
LadyNov yes I'm scared for the rest of my life too. One day at a time at the moment!

Nunkie · 22/03/2015 14:02

Congratulations, Boo! Grin

RL20 · 22/03/2015 14:11

Nunkie I totally agree and can relate with most things you have said! And also the replies that everyone's given you. It makes it a tiny bit easier knowing that you're not the only one feeling like that!
RE names - loving your girls choices. I love the name Isla. I had very marmite choices for girls names, my number 1 was Dolly. If I'm being honey I can't even remember many others! Have been focusing on boys names, obviously, for longer now so all the girls names are no longer in my brain! I had a whole list of girls names that could of gone on and on, as I feel like you can be a bit more adventurous with girls names, but definitely makes the boys name I choice feel more special, as I've been so picky! Yep my number one name at the minute is Ruben! high fives back Grin

Love that name, Wine!

LittleGreyCat don't think we have spoken before but yay for the start of mat leave Grin

Chicken you can have a lovely rest at home now Smile Well, resting as much as you can with a newborn, but at least you'll have your home comforts now Smile

Ooh FiRaffe exciting Grin I must finish my hospital bag! Confused

LadyNovember I second being scared about the rest of my life! Shock But I'd say that's pretty natural (hopefully!). I think it's just being scared of the unknown.

Well, never again am I going food shopping at Asda on my own on a Sunday again! I can't believe how busy it was. My normal day to go is Monday, I think I'll stick to that!
Now sat down with a bag of Milkybar Mini Eggs. Oh wait...they've nearly gone...

daholster · 22/03/2015 14:33

Just back from the park. Smile Dd had fun, liked the farm animals and little train and feeding the ducks. She has been singing "Grandpa's little train goes choo choo choo" all the way home (Peppa Pig episode...) Now she is in bed not napping...

Dh has agreed to try to lose 2kg this week. He says he needs nagging cos it works for him... Nagging will be unleashed!!! Grin He's a big chap so this isn't too much too fast - he's 6'3" with about 4 or 5 stone to lose. Fingers crossed. We both have to try to be the role models we want to be to our kids - I am going to be working hard with my weight and figure too after D's arrives and aim for a half marathon this time next year.

Going to have a big drink and a snooze myself... If dd will stop warbling!!!

daholster · 22/03/2015 14:41

Oh and we have been invited down to Peppa Pig World on Tuesday 31st March by my cousin and his wife and one year old, they will be visiting the south from Sheffield. Sounds fun, planning on going - but dh will be working. Its about 1hr 10mins ish drive which I will do. I'll be 38 weeks exactly. Should be OK right? Or do people think I am stupid considering it?

cinnamongreyhound · 22/03/2015 14:55

There will be a lot of standing around daholster, I wouldn't worry about the distance from home personally but it will be a long tiring day for you especially when you're struggling sometimes anyway. I've only been once and not was summer hols rather than Easter but we didn't even manage to get on all the rides because of the queues and there are only 8 I think.

Daholster we loved peppa pig world, planning to visit it again this summer. (Before DD grows and isn't free anymore. Currently 96cm) Like cinnamon said we queued average 45 mins per ride during the summer holidays. Only managed 4 rides as DD was a bit too small for all of them and it took so long for each one. There are plenty of benches if I remember rightly, so take a book and park yourself for each ride. I'm sure being heavily pregnant people will give you a seat. (There's a really cool mummy pig tshirt in the shop I'm going back for one this time if it's still there!)

The toilets made me chuckle though as they had those seats for small bottoms so it felt like having to aim into your pee pot for the mw. Grin

RL20 · 22/03/2015 16:34

We've never been to Peppa Pig world Daholster, despite my partners daughter still being a fan at the age of almost 6. I think it's because it's quite a way from us, but we have always had it in mind. Looking at the others comments I'd have to agree with the things like queues, unless there will be seats. I just know that I get a tight feeling around my belly (BH's that I'm unaware of?) if I've just been walking around Asda for half an hour - and that's without a toddler, too! But you're probably fitter than me, and you'll have company that could take care of your little one if you needed a break? If you choose to go remember to carry round a couple of bottles of water around with you!

Nunkie · 22/03/2015 16:40

Oooo, I like Dolly, RL20. (Molly was in discussion tho we can't do that as it kind of rhymes with his surname)
I also like Kitty and Queenie a lot (tho DP wasn't so keen on those. I generally seem to be stuck in a Jeeves and Wooster timewarp where name choices are concerned :0).

Know what you mean about going a bit more 'sensible' with boy's names - I like the ones that abbreviate lots of ways so the child can decide which he prefers as he gets older (Ruben could become a Ben for instance as well as a 'Roo' :0D) Albert is good value there too: Al /Bertie/ Albie.

DaHolster, I would go for it with Peppa Pig if its only about an hour away.

Just sorted some baby clothes and did some sewing (unheard of! Must be about to go into labour). Now feeling a bit more prepped should the midwife pack me off to hospital with PreEclampsia come Tuesday.. :0P

Hope everyone's enjoying the sun :0) And thanks again for the support today

BananaToast · 22/03/2015 17:16

Eeek congratulations Boo!

MoominMama22 · 22/03/2015 18:12

I used to wear a size 5 and a half shoe.... And I just had to buy some pumps in ASDA that are a 42 Shock that's what, an 8? Or 9!!!!
I just can't get any shoes on anymore and that's even with keeping my feet up. A friend of mine never fitted into her old shoes again... SOB! Even once the swelling goes down the relaxed ligaments mean your feet can be a size bigger.
I'm feeling pathetic being upset about these changes to my body. My boobs were always biggish but they had pretty good stay-up power, now they are UDDERS and my tummy is now ravaged with stretch marks and I've noticed a big clump of grey hairs today and have huge floaters in my eyes which the optician says will never go away but my brain will stop noticing them so much Hmm

I feel so self absorbed and vain being upset by all this but I'm 28... I feel like this pregnancy has made me feel so OLD and there is no turning the clock back on any of these changes.

How stupid is this I should be embracing the changes as they are bringing me a baby soon... Urgh annoyed at myself.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 22/03/2015 18:33

It's scary what it can do to you Moomin! I've been so worried about my feet (they were a size 10 before I started!). luckily they seem to be behaving because they are already too big for shoes! Grin
Just been lugging furniture about to make room for a nursing chair and the crib in our bedroom... really regretting that now... can hardly move!

Lauren82000 · 22/03/2015 18:35

Aww poor Moomin. I understand how you feel, I'm not quite convinced my body is going to bounce back as fast as my younger self did after DD. I'm 4 years older and I have plenty of old age aches and pains.

My friend at work has gone up 3 back sizes and she is now officially broad backed. She is very upset about it and hopes it goes back down. I'm not convinced as she seems to have the build that will keep it, but being the friend that I am I keep my mouth shut and just smile and nod. Wink
