Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 23rd grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 40th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

The stats sheet is here

So, roll call below please, viroids!

I agree fatty I am still trying to convince my MIL who is insisting that the cot at her house (where we will stay at least 1 weekend per month) will be fine with my 8 year old niece's mattress that has been stored in a garage Hmm for the past 7 years.

She hates throwing anything away as it's a "wicked waste"

I have told DH if there isn't a new mattress, the baby isn't staying.

willywallace · 10/03/2015 12:41

Ah well Fatty I can be the first person you know Grin .

TheBooMonster · 10/03/2015 13:53

lauren he is super gorgeous!! sends mental snuggles

la shh! shh! I'm barely keeping the panic at bay today, I don't want to give birth and I really miss sleep :( Though that said... can't wait to try a teeny newborn in my new sling... maybe I could borrow one...

We've got a new mattress for the crib, MiL was dead set against the idea as DD had only used the crib for a few months, but I wanted the peace of mind...

gaggiagirl · 10/03/2015 14:10

I have an appt to be booked in by the midwife! 20th march. I'll be 11+1 then. Watch me be the poor begger who doesn't get the 12wk scan til I'm 14wks.

Pisghetti · 10/03/2015 14:34

I think the new mattress for every child advice is relatively recent too - it wasn't a thing when DS was born so his cot mattress had been through two children before him (albeit he was the only one who actually spent any significant time sleeping in the cot as the others ended up co-sleeping). As far as I can tell from reading into it, no one is actually sure why there is this link between reusing mattresses and cot death (there are plenty of internet theories from goverment conspiracies to FSIDS covering up research Hmm but little actual scientific proof). There is some evidence that mattress protectors can reduce the risk. I think a mattress that's been kept in a garage for 7 years is beyond the pale though!! I wouldn't want to sleep on that mattress

That's a long wait you've had Ga Confused do they know how far along you are?

Fattycow · 10/03/2015 15:11

For me personally I would buy a new mattress for every baby, just because I want stuff like that to be clean and fresh. I cannot imagine the dirt that will be in a mattress that has been in a garage for 7 years, yuck! And it is not as if you can easily wash a mattress...
Also, you need a new mattress for your own bed every couple of years as well. It might still look fine, but once you buy a new one, suddenly you sleep so much better. So for me personally, every baby a new mattress is the easiest way to ensure they have a clean and sturdy one. Smile

LaLaLaaaa · 10/03/2015 15:37

Get well soon gaggia!

I've got a 2nd hand cot/bed but going to buy new mattress as I don't trust where I bought it from to have been clean or smoke free. But I don't think I'd buy a new one for a second baby, particularly as it's likely we will have another pretty soon after this one. Is that really the advice? Sounds odd. What - even if it's not been stored anywhere so had opportunity to get damp, or be anywhere with smoke?

I've had an embarrassing day. Had to come home. I've been finding now I'm getting bigger I sweat more and also I'm getting lots of moisture in foof area. I forgot to put in a liner today and also wore tights. Two hours into work I was sweaty and uncomfortable, had wet pants and was starting to chafe. Took tights off but it just got worse and I didn't have any moisturiser. Had to ask if anyone minded if I went home, so I could get into loose cotton clothing. How embarrassing! I've got welts on my thighs and it's bleeding :(

Fleurchamp · 10/03/2015 15:56

Eeek la that sounds painful!

So much advice changes, even from speaking to my DSis who has a one yr old - the food advice is all different already!

I am "wfh" this pm too. I am finding it really hard to concentrate in a noisy office, I have my heartbeat in one ear and the other is bunged up and so find talking on the phone etc. really hard Confused

Pisghetti · 10/03/2015 17:21

Check out the lullaby trust website La - it's not the official advice to change mattresses between siblings if you're happy with how it was used/ stored. But as with anything it's personal choice and what you're comfortable with. I'm using a second hand mattress with a cover personally (it came from a friend who doesn't smoke and I happen to know she cosleeps too). I've read in several places that bumpers are not recommended but it's near impossible to find cot bedding without Hmm I'm just going to stick with blankets I think.

Sounds like an unpleasant experience with your thighs - hope they're ok :-/

mountaingirl01 · 10/03/2015 18:00

gaggia that sounds awful! Hope you and mini-g are feeling better. Likewise la pretty rubbish day all round Flowers

Lauren what a gorgeous little bundle, I'm so glad you've got to hold him.

lemon not really the remit of the epu, especially as I'm only technically early p for the next 2days (woohoo! End of first tri!)

teejayem · 10/03/2015 18:16

owwww la yowchy. Swamp foof is horrid, I get it at night sometimes, and I sleep nekkid, although don't have the thigh chafe thank god for hareem pants
I found shaving irritated it more, the itch of regrowth and ingrowing plus sweat was horrid.

Marks and sparks have a mid season sale on with lots of nice baby bits for any bargain hunters....

work called earlier to ask if I'd had my Mat b1 yet. (we don't get them in our trust until 28 wks, and I get it tomorrow) but moreover they wanted to know 'my plans' and if I would be coming back next week, and that they were expecting me to not come back. I've said I'm not making any decision until I get the advice from the consultant tomorrow.

Had Tonis all afternoon and they've squeezed me so hard it's made me feel sick :(

gaggiagirl · 10/03/2015 18:23

pis yeah the midwife knows my LMP. I think they like to see you quite late on in these parts. Once my scan is booked in though I'll be able to relax.
DD is 100% recovered and has stuffed her face. I've stopped exploding out of both ends but I feel like shite. On the plus side the only way is up!.

gaggiagirl · 10/03/2015 18:28

Ouch la might I recommend lancane anti chafe gel? You may also be interested to know that it doubles up as an excellent primer, same as smashbox primer but a fraction of the price.

Fleurchamp · 10/03/2015 18:29

gaggia I was seen "early" in my trust at 10 weeks because of Xmas. It was so frustrating when everyone on my due date Fred had their booking appts weeks before me.
I managed to get a scan appt anyway, which was bang on 12 weeks Grin

willywallace · 10/03/2015 18:35

Ooh yes I saw those Mr Men bodysuits were online in m&s sale section for whoever was talking about them. They have Little Miss ones too.

Lemondrizzletwunt · 10/03/2015 18:41

Congrats on end of 1st trip mountain!

la ouch! Sadly I get that in the summer in hot countries Sad boo, so I know how much it fucking hurts.

Well, I am not calm or regal at all today, I am worrying now because I was semi awake this morning in bed and stretched and had a stabby uterus pain where I have been having my stretchy feelings over the last week. I've had increased CM and very few stretchy pains since, and am now worrying that I'm going to MC. I am 4+5. Gah, I hate all this drama.

teejayem · 10/03/2015 18:43

I got them wil :) I got two sets, one in a wee size and one in 3-6 months :) Seemed rude not to, given they were on offer and I've been trying to get hold of them for ages.
(and I put it on Mr Tee's card n revenge for mouse episode earlier.)

mountaingirl01 · 10/03/2015 19:05

lemon I had those stabby pains right up till about last week, especially if I moved suddenly or really needed a wee - all part of the fun!

teejayem · 10/03/2015 19:15

don't panic lemon! I had the stretchy & stabby pain in the same place, mine went on until at least 12 weeks I think, MW said it's where your little bean is burrowing in, and lo and hold on the scan she could see where he'd attached and it was pretty much where I'd had the pain.
Re: CM... yeeeeeah..... nobody tells you about the litres of pant snot you get while upduffed. I recommend stockpiling liners..! I know it's really easy for everyone to say not to worry, but try not to. :)

Lemondrizzletwunt · 10/03/2015 19:20

Thanks viroids for the reassuring words. I think I am extra anxious as my longest cycle since TTC was 35 days, and today is CD34...so I'm still not technically late- yikes.

Honestly, the CM is unbelievable! I could open a fucking wholesale warehouse.

Indigoblue2 · 10/03/2015 19:21

lemon I had the exact same thing! It was stabby when I peed or stretched etc, and if I dared to sneeze it was a killer! I found I had to bend over before sneezing or lift my knees towards my chest to make it not hurt

Purpleball · 10/03/2015 19:42

Evening viroids. We got the all clear from the NIFTY test Grin
Feeling very relieved now but still not ready to announce just yet.

Gaggia hope the arse rain stops soon.

Lauren, Isaac is gorgeous and well done you. I'm sure he'll be home soon. My friends baby was born at 34 and weighed 4lbs. He was home 2 weeks later Smile

I'm glad it's not just me that needs liners. La your day sounds horrendous though. I'd recommend sudocreme

DulcetMoans · 10/03/2015 19:43

No one is gonna buy that lemon... Don't panic though, and get used to damp knickers!

Sounds pretty awful gaggia. At least DD is better and just think of the weight loss... Hope you can rest now it's calmed down.

Did work seem ok about it tee? Does it make you feel better that they are half expecting you not to be there?

Well now you have all said things about mattresses I will have to get a new one! Can't have that playing on the back of my mind. Why are so many things out to kill babies?! All these unexpected household items I didn't account for. Got a hexagon table with all the corners I need to think about too now!

Purpleball · 10/03/2015 19:43

Sorry...Lemon I meant to say I get stabby pains if I stretch or bed or twist and its getting worse

willywallace · 10/03/2015 20:06

Hahaha Dulcet. You could scare yourself silly reading everything. I think now they have washable covers and they changed the type of fillings it's not as bad but yeah if you don't know the house it came from it might be wise. We have a natural fibre one for the crib which dust mites shouldn't be able to live in apparently which in my head makes me feel better about it. Confused
