We are already nearing the halfway point! Some of us have already reached the 20 weeks, the rest will follow suit. Let the countdowns begin!

Here is the stats list, please update them with your scan dates and the sex of you baby (if you know it):

I was having lessons, started in October, gave up when the morning sickness all day sickness was bad.

Now don't feel like starting up again Sad

Stinkylinky · 20/02/2015 13:36

Do it number3 driving is the best thing you can do! I was without a car over the summer and I actually started to feel depressed, like I had lost all independence! My house is a a bit out the way though so if I lived in town, it wouldn't have been so bad

Number3cometome · 20/02/2015 13:38

I lived in Central London all of my adult life, so never needed to really, then moved to Essex 18 months ago and it's at least 2 miles to the nearest Tesco.

I should learn, I know I should.

Stinkylinky · 20/02/2015 13:39

Do they still do intensive courses Might be worth booking on to one of those when your mat leave starts

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 20/02/2015 13:40

I'm so glad I learnt when I was 17 as I don't think id have the patience or energy to learn now!

Number3cometome · 20/02/2015 13:42

If I get a bonus at work I will book one, but I am going off work the day before my C-section so not much time!

Fleurchamp · 20/02/2015 13:53

Same here, I failed my test twice at 17 and then sort of have up as I was nearing my a level exams. One morning my mum woke me up to tell me she had booked me another test, I passed! So pleased I did as, although I don't drive much, it is so handy to be able to jump into the car if/ when I need to.
My MIL doesn't drive and it really stops her from doing things.

twinky12 · 20/02/2015 15:52

I passed my driving test about 2 month before conceiving. The waiting time was what made mine take longer as summer is the busiest time with school leavers ect. Waiting times to take test between April and September were roughly 6 weeks here.

Zampa · 20/02/2015 17:55

I passed my theory in January (not difficult providing you revise) and have my practical booked for mid March. I'm not feeling very confident (DP made me cry last weekend when he said I wasn't driving as well as a month ago) but HAVE to learn.

I'm also a Londoner so have had no previous need for a licence but public transport in the NW is so poor, I have to learn or will be isolated when DP is at work.

Good luck to everyone else learning or thinking of learning. Flowers

jmojo · 20/02/2015 18:17

So worth doing, I learnt before uni and then did my test after uni when I had a job and some money! I hated every minute but it was the best thing I ever did even though I didn't need to drive in London at first. Do it do it do it! Tbh driving in the UK is easy, since I Moved to Panama I really know what seat of the pants hair raising driving is!! Shock

ohlordyplordy · 20/02/2015 18:23

twinkly have you seen this www.babyandchildrensmarket.co.uk/Events.aspx?CountyID=40

broodylicious · 20/02/2015 19:21

Not been to panama but if it's anything like the driving in Bali or Bangkok, I'd be petrified! We saw a whole family (two adults, two infants between two and five, and a baby in a sling) all on the back of a moped in Bali - no helmets or anything, they're just not into that safety thingShock Bangkok drivers are just crazy frightening fast, bobbing across lanes and beeping all over the place. And those tuk tuks...eek! So, I'm quite happy to leave the foreign driving to dh in Europe or taxi drivers further afield.

fattymcfatfat · 20/02/2015 20:01

I dont drive so.i just have to walk limp everywhere...my poor back and hips Sad

twinky12 · 20/02/2015 21:07

lordy I hadn't, thanks for the link might have to drive down and see what's about. Might be able to grab a bargain Smile

Luckystar82 · 21/02/2015 10:37

I'm planning to learn to drive on mat leave too! Everyone I've told thinks it is unrealistic with baby but I would like to achieve something in time I'm off.

I've never felt the need to drive as I've always lived in the city and travel for work by train, my DH drives only once a week (shopping) and rarely to see family who live further away. But now we are moving slightly out of town can see it would be useful.

I haven't driven for so long that I think my provisional license has run out!

The back pain has started! Knew it wouldn't be long - in agony!! Bump getting bigger by the day and sleeping starting to get uncomfortable, probably need to invest in a pillow soon.

Congrats to all the ladies with positive scams. What a relief that must be! Seem to be a lot of boys on the thread now after a lot of girl announcements to begin with. I'm expecting mine to be a girl, but it is prob a boy! Will find out Wednesday!

Luckystar82 · 21/02/2015 10:38

*scans not scams

Fattycow · 21/02/2015 10:59

I am very happy to have gotten my license last year. It gives you so much freedom and it is so much better than having to ride my bike through the rain everywhere!

Naturegirl82 · 21/02/2015 11:26

I got my license when I was 17 and was so glad I did. I grew up in London but still used the car loads. Couldn't cope without one now. Good luck to everyone learning.

Having a sneaky lie down before DD1 wakes up. I should probably finish the hoovering but I cba!

Butler4 · 21/02/2015 11:37

Happy scan today at 21+1, woman doing it was amazing. All well with baby and given 6 photos even though it should have been one. Can't believe the details you can see on scan. One really active baby! So happy all is well!

Aretepetite · 21/02/2015 13:29

Congrats on all the happy scan news :)

We had to cancel spa break for this weekend. I am bunged up - ears nose & throat and head cold :( dh has it worse and has swollen tongue which is making his breathing bad and v high temp so he is on antibiotics as well as paracetamol lozenges etc and I have mental crystals !!! + paracetamol of course !

Just really want it to clear up. I want to get out :(

Others than that, I've been keeping up with you ladies when I can. It's lovely to hear all the Los sexes coming through. Hard to believe we are all past/nearing the halfway point. So excited. I'm feeling regular movement now and think lo is responding to certain sounds - it's amazing. The Doppler is a lifesaver for me at this point I must say. It really has helped ease my worries.

I'm 21+4 today and really have popped over past week. It's all so real now and I am already desperate to meet her Grin

Hope you all have a great weekend xx

Aretepetite · 21/02/2015 13:31

Menthol crystals. I really should check before I post.
Have had a few incidents which I have put down to 'baby brain' Hmm

Sherbet38 · 21/02/2015 13:48

I am half way today! Scan is on Tuesday. Off to look at buggys today Smile

Jenbird5891 · 21/02/2015 21:56

Following my scan this week we're having a boy and a girl! So excited!! Finally allowed myself to make a baby purchase today-just some plain white bodysuits, changing mat and bath cos they were cheap. Was getting overwhelmed with all the things needed so starting now makes me feel better. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend x

Raines100 · 22/02/2015 10:17

Congrats on all the lovely scan news. A boy and a girl Jen- how exciting!

I've had that miserable cold this week, Arete. DSs have a bit of it now- the annoying bit where they cough all night long.

Lucky I learnt to drive on mat leave with DS1. Had lessons at 17 and was rubbish. DH taught me in fits and starts before I fell pg, and then I did my theory before I left work. Started proper lessons (to learn manoeuvres, etc) when DS1 was 3 months old and passed 3 months later. Best thing I ever did, especially as when I went back to work, I suddenly had a nursery run to do every day, so just hopping on the train was no longer an option. Also, Mat leave with DS2 was far more enjoyable because I had freedom, and it gives you more options later when they're older in terms of schools, playdates, clubs, etc.

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 22/02/2015 10:47

Thanks for the new thread fatty! Had my scan on Friday and all well. The placenta is anterior which I expected as I haven't had as much movement as with DS (plenty in the last few days though!). I am slightly nervous about it though as I've read it makes it much more likely baby will be back to back, therefore longer more painful labour Confused not ideal if I'm planning to do it at home without pain relief! I guess there are so many variables anyway, will just have to wait and see how it goes.
Congratulations to everyone else on all the good scan news and sex reveals! We decided to keep it a surprise in the end.
