We are already nearing the halfway point! Some of us have already reached the 20 weeks, the rest will follow suit. Let the countdowns begin!

Here is the stats list, please update them with your scan dates and the sex of you baby (if you know it):

Scan went well, all bits in the right place Smile
It's a girl! Just happy though that all looked well
I've been getting very breathless too, can't remember feeling it this early before

JoY007 · 18/02/2015 16:18

Hello Everyone, found you! Weekend away was great, it was nice to dress up and be treated. High tea, dinner and breakfast in bed, I could get use to it Grin

Now back to reality.... DP annoyed me over choice of names, argh always the way!

Scan was yesterday, my baby was not co-operating for sonog and consultant, at the 3rd attempt after long walks and plenty of water finally managed to take the heart measurement. All is well.

My predictions were right, it's a boy but we are not telling the family, and I hope I can keep my mouth shut! Not sure what it is but was hoping to be super excited but I'm not perhaps it was the long wait that zapped the excitement.

How is everyone doing? I can definitely feel movements, for me it feels like something moving slowly inside me, weird! not butterfly, and definitely not bubbles. Think I can feel some kicks, but will wait till I am sure, before I record first kick in my belly book Smile which was my valentines day gift Smile

Oh and I get itchy skin now and again Sad

Naty1 · 18/02/2015 17:45

Scan tomorrow, getting rather nervous.
Dd has to wear glasses :( only 2.7 yo. Its really strange as we had been going to eye hospital for family history of issues and a possible squint. From under 1 yo. Last appt they said it was fine and this would be last appt before sign off. As although she had slight LS this was normal at 2. Now she suddenly has 1 eye worse than other. Also with test she failed last 3 pics on each eye at a distance, which would suggest SS.
Just very confused (as she has previously had them dilated - at about 1.5 and that was 'fine'). Feel like i want to see here notes in case i misunderstood. But dont feel i trust this prescription as it doesnt fit with 2/3 previous tests.
It felt like the first person just said oh she's worse on the distance test with left eye, when it seemed she answered both eyes almost the same. Then we saw the person after dilation who i think just looked at left eye (maybe).
Family history is SS though may need to check with mil.
I think the glasses are more to correct the difference between the eyes as by itself the prescription even for bad eye isnt high +3.5.

Zampa · 18/02/2015 18:00

Naty Doesn't a plus figure mean long sighted?

I'm -3.5 in one eye and -4.25 in the other which is pretty blind! I got contacts at 18 and didn't look back. DP also a glasses wearer so expecting lo to be in glasses at some point.

Naty1 · 18/02/2015 18:09

Yes its LS. Its odd as neither dp or i wear glasses and only dsis has since young and has SS. All gp do but (excl mil) not until 40+. So unexpected. Also DD will never keep them on, she wont wear hats or sunglasses.
It doesnt help im worrying its to do with her having a flat spot on her head.
Apparently LS can make both near and far blurry ? And children can correct a bit as their muscles are strong but say when you dilate the eye they cant do that.

broodylicious · 18/02/2015 21:12

Ladies, just wanted to share this with you, in case you've not seen it in your local press. This relates to England, apparently Wales has seen no increase in cases, but still worth being aware just in case you have a little one or are around littlies.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 18/02/2015 21:19

Thanks broody, big outbreak in Bristol apparently.

fattymcfatfat · 18/02/2015 21:24

my ex was diagnosed with scarlet fever... when I spoke to mw she said I dont need to worry Confused

Fattycow · 18/02/2015 21:24

To those who have found out the sex of their baby: please update your entry in the stats list which can be found in the first post!

naty1 good luck with your scan.

Re your DD, not quite similar but thought I share, perhaps make you less worried Smile
My Dsis was diagnosed with SS at age 16! prescription was -5 or -6, poor thing wondered how she had coped all those years. Both dad and mum never wore glasses so my mum investigated further and discovered my dad's senior sis wore glasses when she was really young, but with a 10 year gap there was was no way dad could remember. The point of my story is she will be more than fine, try not to worry, best it is diagnosed now and something is being done. Re glasses, have you tried does spectacle chains for kids to try and keep it on? I have seen them on some young kids.

All the best with the scan today and to others having scans xx

JoY007 · 19/02/2015 07:00

*those spectacle chains I meant.

broodylicious · 19/02/2015 07:57

fattymc, at least your mw had some response - I asked mine the other day if I needed to be concerned and she said "I have no idea". Honestly, I wonder what she does know! She spent five minutes googling how accurate the quad blood test was the other week because she didn't know that either!Confused

fattymcfatfat · 19/02/2015 08:25

apparently scarlet fever isnt a major deal unless your due to give birth. as long as baba is inside you it is safe. when I had my DD no one knew what the hell was going on with my iron levels and even when I gave birth when i got transfered to the ward they didnt send the correct notes etc which meant I couldn't have pain killers because they didn't know what I had had already or when

Zampa · 19/02/2015 09:45

HALFWAY TODAY!

Just had my 20 week scan and all is NORMAL! It was such a relief.

We did ask to find out the sex but the sonographer didn't tell us and we forgot to remind her. Fortunately we know from our Harmony scan, which is accurate.

Stinkylinky · 19/02/2015 10:29

Great news Zampa Grin

smallgreenbanana · 19/02/2015 11:01

Scan done for me today too. Really enjoyed going on the tour, and everything is normal. I've been convinced for weeks it's a girl, so when the 3 little lines appeared it was no surprise to me! Grin

This scan seems to have changed things for DH all of a sudden! Now he wants to organise picking names and buying things etc.

Jenbird5891 · 19/02/2015 12:23

Another scan here! Both babies absolutely fine-what a relief! I got myself so worked up I nearly fainted in the ultrasound room such a wimp! DH is away so got her to write the sexes down for us to open tomorrow together. She said she was pretty sure they were right but never 100% I feel I can breathe again now. Good luck to the rest of u waiting for scans. Hope I can pull myself together for 24week scan... Xx

Fattycow · 19/02/2015 12:38

Great to hear about all the good scans!

Naturegirl82 · 19/02/2015 15:00

Another one with a good scan today. I was so nervous I was shaking but my Midwife explained about what happened last time and the sonographer was brilliant. Baby has everything present and correct. We were given 8 pics as well! Smile

beakerandburette · 19/02/2015 17:02

I've been having palpitations all day again, spoke to MW at 16w and she said it's 'normal' doesn't feel normal. DD is being a madam and I am so knackered. I'm really nervous for our scan on Sunday, no reason other than I'm a worrier. I've got an appointment with the consultant on the 12th to discuss my birth plan but I've no idea which route to go down!

18+1

Zampa · 19/02/2015 17:12

Good luck beaker - I was quite anxious too so in the end the scan was a bit of an anti-climax after all that worrying!

Congrats to all on good scan news. I am quite envious of your additional scans Jen but perhaps ignorance is bliss?!

Quite pleased with today's eBay purchase - a John Lewis cot and M&P changing table and wardrobe, all in beech for £102!

Thepurplegiraffe · 19/02/2015 17:46

What are your options Beaker? I have the same issue.

Great news on all the scans, I am 20 weeks on Saturday but don't have my scan until the following Friday. I am completely shattered at the moment and finding it all really difficult. Maybe I just need the weather to improve.

TouchPauseEngage · 19/02/2015 20:16

Evening all, just checking in from the snowy Alps to say the scan went well and it's a boy! We had a trainee so had every single detail explained which was fascinating. Baby was lazy and awkward so the trainee has to hand over to her teacher in the end to get the final details. Placenta is a bit low so back for another scan at 28 weeks. Hope everyone is well. We have the chalet to ourselves tonight before our friends descend with babies and toddlers tomorrow so enjoying the peace and quiet!!
