Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 22nd grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 39th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Cheeky baby La. Yes pg massages are fine. When is Easter? Too lazy to google or work out.

DulcetMoans · 24/02/2015 18:55

My cat asked DH for some mini eggs on his way home from work la. this baby ate the ones in this house.

45mins the guy was here. Not too bad actually.

Toast85 · 24/02/2015 19:05

Haha just checked the Fred after my bean has just polished off TWO small packs of mini-eggs in one go. It's a hungry little thing!

ChatEnOeuf · 24/02/2015 19:11

Vaginal steaming... Shock here too!

Our AN teacher recommended asking for a wax if you had an epidural Confused - because that would be at the forefront of your mind, of course!

Pregnancy massages are excellent - had two last time, one so far this time. Really wakes the baby up :)

laurenamium · 24/02/2015 19:25

Me and DP are officially not talking. Words have been had Hmm

So on the plus side I have the full control of the telly as he's lurking in the bedroom on his xbox Wink

LaLaLaaaa · 24/02/2015 19:43

I've been subjected to ridicule this evening. Pic on Facebook page

Lauren boo to men!

willywallace · 24/02/2015 19:53

Ha I would have freaked out at that La. Can't bear people drawing on me.

What's happened Lauren?

Aargh someone at playgroup has chicken pox. I hope to God we don't get them, it'll push me over the edge.

laurenamium · 24/02/2015 20:07

After I took my stand about not making tea, he came in from the gym and complained so I told him I wanted help with meal planning and I want him to start cooking the evening meal as I do EVERYTHING else. He didn't like it but didn't say anything and is now stewing in silence

gaggiagirl · 24/02/2015 20:18

la I do my own nails all the time too salon manicures are mostly fine. Its the high levels of nasties in some treatments such as acrylics that are troublesome. Lots of formaldehyde and stuff is bad.
Seche vite top coat actually says on the bottle that it can cause birth defects. I was horrified at that.

deeplybaffled · 24/02/2015 20:22

Help, please, viroids - had a call from my midwife today to say that my combined downs test had come back high risk at 1:85. Stupidly shellshocked, as despite being old -37 - i hadn't really let myself think about a high risk result. Have booked a private Harmony test asap, but the results will take 2 weeks to come, so does anyone have any cheering thoughts / stories to get me through the wait?
Currently thinking we'll keep the baby regardless, but still so hard to deal with the uncertainty.
sorry for the wail.

TheBooMonster · 24/02/2015 20:35

deeply a high risk result isn't a definite yes, just as a low risk result isn't a defiant no, there's always a chance, there's a lady living near me who had an insanely low risk result and her baby has downs syndrome, whereas I've known people with high risk results to have babies that don't have downs syndrome, so I guess it's a matter of waiting for the harmony test results, but even so, downs syndrome comes in different severities Flowers

willywallace · 24/02/2015 20:44

Although it's in the high risk category Deeply, you still have a 98.8% chance of it being a negative result. (Is that right maths geeks)? Good idea to get the Harmony to stop you worrying but it is likely to be fine. Cross bridges as you come to them, don't stress about them beforehand.

ZylaB · 24/02/2015 20:49

deeply we ha d nifty test (same as harmony) and it only took a week to come back so you may not have to wait that long, if it helps x

DulcetMoans · 24/02/2015 20:53

Understandably a worry deeply but still more chance it's not DS and you have the extra test booked in to find out. You can make and decisions you need to then, and get all the info. Did midwife give you any more info about what to do?

How long can you keep the silence up lauren? Or, who is more stubborn?!

laurenamium · 24/02/2015 20:58

He's written I

Indigoblue2 · 24/02/2015 21:14

Yeah deeply I agree with the other viroids. When you think about it, you've still only a 1 in 85 chance. Even though it's not classed as low risk, it's still insanely low really when you think about it. Still really good odds. It's great you've booked your harmony test so that can put your mind at rest x

RPopz · 24/02/2015 21:19

I'm sorry about your result deeply. As others have said - the NHS definition of high risk is still a relatively low chance.... And it is just a risk. Even someone with a risk of one in a million could end up being the unlucky one. It's good you've got your harmony test booked so you don't have to wait around for the riskier cvs procedures. If its any consolation at all, the consultants I work with rarely worry particularly unless the risk is 1 in 5 or more x

Indigoblue2 · 24/02/2015 21:28

I've just reread back through the Isofix posts, some good info thee ladies! It is tempting to have something that easy but good to know Isofix isn't the only type of easy base you can have.

pis I did some more digging and saw there's a "family fix" which sounds similar to the one you are talking about, does 0-4yo. I was thinking of going for the maxi cosi pebble which would be compatible with that. Don't know how dodgy it is getting this stuff on eBay? Is it a bit like riding hats which you shouldn't buy second hand?!

willywallace · 24/02/2015 21:32

Car seats do you mean Indigo? They say not to buy them second hand in case they've been involved in a crash and therefore aren't safe anymore. Sure that doesn't happen often though.

Indigoblue2 · 24/02/2015 21:37

Good point wil, I did mean car seats but suppose it applies to the bases as well! You can get much reduced seats and bases on eBay, it's tempting but maybe not worth the risk..

townsender · 24/02/2015 21:39

deeply I had almost exactly the same with my last pregnancy - and at 33 it was a horrible shock, especially as the nuchal scan had looked fine so my bloods must have been awful. I remember the wait for results seemed forever, but 2 weeks is the longest it'll take and likely it'll be less. And of course it was all fine and came back negative, as it's very very likely to do in your case.
This might not make you feel any better (of any of us, mind you!!) but your risk of mc is still higher than a downs risk of 1 in 85. Just trying to put in context how unlikely it is.

ChatEnOeuf · 24/02/2015 22:11

Deeply 1 in 85 is still pretty good odds, given your age-alone risk is about 1 in 200. Remember 84 of women with those numbers will have normal babies - not that it matters a jot what your risk was once you have an affected baby, but that's by the by. At least you can do harmony, and not have to go through an amnio, such a huge step forwards. Remember these risk scores can be affected by other things, not just the baby itself - some are markers of placental function (and would trigger extra scans to watch for growth and blood flow etc.).

Not wanting to be in this position was one of the reasons I didn't take the test. The knowledge (as far as it is knowledge) wouldn't change my approach to the pregnancy, and if the detail scan had any abnormalities on it, I know I can get a 36w+ amnio at that point if I wanted to. Though it's worth knowing that you can have a normal karyotype and still have problems...no easy answers in this game.

Keeping everything crossed for a healthy one :)

deeplybaffled · 24/02/2015 22:33

Thanks, everyone - feeling as if i have got it a bit more in perspective now. I am very glad that there is the option of harmony, and that we can afford to pay for it. And hoping that the two weeks that they say is really a worst case scenario - patience and putting things out of my mind not being two of my stronger features!
DH has been fantastic tonight as well, which i will do my best to remember the next time his snoring wakes me up ;)
and thank you all for the helpful stats and comparisons and well wishes. Scan on Saturday, thank goodness, and will let you know. Gx for good news!

Pisghetti · 24/02/2015 22:34

Family fix does take both stage car seats but forward facing for the stage 1 and I wanted extended rear facing hence why I was planning to get the 2way fix. As far as I could see (and I did a fair bit of research), there wasn't any advice about second hand bases only seats.... I'd maybe use gumtree or freeads rather than ebay so you can see the base and check it's all intact and undamaged before you part with any cash.

Chuckling at Lauren's damaged banjo Grin gotta love autocorrect!.

Had a call from the antenatal clinic earlier (although the message wasn't clear and DP and I were scratching our heads over who Anthony Clinic was Hmm) as my iron has dropped again and I've been pretty poor at remembering to take my tablets. Might explain why I'm so breathless despite the baby dropping though!

Nursery is almost finished! Had a mega day of touching up paint, relaying the carpet and putting all the furniture together. Tomorrow the wall stickers will be going up and all the baby stuff will relocate. Still need to get blinds/curtains but relieved I can tick the big jobs off the to-do list.

I'm booked in for a pg massage on Thursday. Really looking forward to it! My lower back is playing up today and I did a very shuffly supermarket shop.

Hmm I was about to put out a request for a loan of a steam cleaner on FB - it's for the mattresses but sounds like I should be specific! With the waxing and the perineal massages my fanjo is probably pampered enough.....
