Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 21st grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 38th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Lol Tee at not going shopping unsupervised Smile

I've not been that hungry so far as I seem to feel sick during daylight hours

Indigoblue2 · 13/02/2015 22:37

Yes lil I've just had one. And they measure something around the spine, want to say nuchal something but all I know is nuchal ligament and it's not that! It's fluid I think. Mine was 1.6mm and she said >3 is more what you would see with Downs. They combine the two, blood test and measurement, and give you a percentage chance. If it's less than 1 in 150 you can have further screening like amnio.

gaggiagirl · 13/02/2015 22:38

dulcet the garlic bread was saved, very swiftly. She still ate it but clearly wanted to take it on an adventure first.

townsender · 13/02/2015 22:40

Book it purple

There's a chance they won't get enough DNA first time round (especially if you have the test early), but if that happens then the clinic will test again for no extra charge - make sure your clinic is the same.

From memory they took 1 or 2 vials for the Harmony test.

TheBooMonster · 13/02/2015 22:55

deeply My tiredness lifted at about 18 weeks. The sickness was under control by 22 for the most part. by 28 weeks the tiredness was back, but I think it's more to do with chasing round a toddler, I don't remember being this exhausted first time round!

tee I buy so much crap when we go food shopping, that's why I've had to swap to online shopping, only the things on the recipe lists for the week can go on the list, and the things on the 'crap it's running out' list. It's far too stressful to find anything other than the things I absolutely need on the supermarket websites! plus I can put the whole list on 2 sites and then go with whichever is cheapest which is fab!

willywallace · 13/02/2015 23:23

Lil the NHS combined test - blood test and nuchal fold measurement - just gives you the likelihood of your baby having the three previously mentioned syndromes based on data of those with similar results. So you may get e.g. a 1 in 10,000 chance or a 1 in 4 chance or whatever. Thing is, you could always be that one and you wouldn't know without either invasive testing or Harmony/nifty. You just need to decide if you think it's worth the risk.

Indigoblue2 · 13/02/2015 23:38

Nuchal fold!

What she said lil

LaLaLaaaa · 13/02/2015 23:56

gaggia your dd made me laugh! Soggy garlic bread - yuck!

purple you've made me want cake! In answer to your question a few people on the July thread went for harmony test. For some reason my mind says fleur did it, so might be worth asking her? From what I understand all had positive things to say (apart from the cost of it).

lil towns has already explained benefit of harmony ie no risk. It's expensive because there's only one lab that does it in uk so they all need to go through there, but they plan to roll it out soon across country so it'll get cheaper.

I didn't go for it. My combined test came back 1:2000 so I didn't go any further down test route.

Lil my mw said you generally only go cvs amnio following high result on combined. But yes there is risk of mc with amnio. If you're concerned the harmony test seems to be the best to do. But I would discuss with your mw and dh. We went just for combined test - bloods plus nuchal measurement. Gives you overall score. Nuchal measurement is measuring skin folds at back of neck at 12 weeks.

Just been to friends house for pear crumble and coyote ugly. Loved that film when i was younger - now I realise how terrible it is!

wil nope it makes you sound normal! I can imagine it's knackering and you just want some time away.

deeply yes! Don't lose heart, my energy started to come back around 14 weeks and by 16 I felt great. It will pass. Small meals and naps were my saviour. Try to fit a nap in if you can.

lildottie · 13/02/2015 23:58

purple don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should go for it, I just didn't realise there was that option and trying to understand the difference. I googled harmony and even that seemed to say it wasn't a guarantee, you either did have a ds baby, or you had a 1 in 10000 chance of it - so you could still be the 1 in 10000 like wil says with the nuchal fold test. how late on can you have the harmony test? like, would it be possible to get your NHS tests done at 12weeks then decide to have harmony if they were higher than you'd expected/ in the high risk range? my mum was high risk when she had dbs as she was 39/41 when she had them but she had the nuchal fold/blood test done. don't think NHS did it then, think she went private but could be wrong. (14 yrs ago)

lildottie · 14/02/2015 00:00

not saying you shouldn't go for it purple damn auto correct!
lots to think about with this pg malarkey isn't there!

willywallace · 14/02/2015 00:44

Yeah I think the combined test is maybe a more recent thing, not sure though. I chose not to get it done first pg but for some reason did with this one. Got a really low risk result thankfully.

Fuck I put her down in the crib before she was in a deep enough sleep so she writhed about and woke up half an hour later. Now having to do it all again. So 12.40 and no fucking sleep for me yet. Plus MrWil stole my one nap opportunity in the day by pissing off for a sleep without telling me and velcro baby refused to be put down. I have the rage. He sleeps in the spare room ffs why does he need a nap in the daytime?! Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

DulcetMoans · 14/02/2015 04:21

Here is the evidence that disturbed sleep and early rising is normal in pregnancy - 4am wake up call. Have a tooth ache so that might be why but then I start to over think. On the sofa now.

You can have the harmony test done later lil. Not sure exact time scales but many people use it in the way you said - have normal NHS 12 week tests and if high risk then go for harmony. There is still that chance, like you say, but it is much more definitive and had had excellent results in testing of being accurate. People treat it as a yes or no which you don't get with NHS testing. I am sure they do caveat it all though.

Pear crumble sounds good la, love a crumble! Not something we have often.

deeply, it will differ I think. I could t eat much of a meal in the early weeks and I still struggle but can eat more. Probably is the tipping point between full and not full. Being full means feel uncomfortable all evening. I probably stopped falling asleep on the sofa at about 14 weeks but still get sleepy if I don't keep my brain active!

ZylaB · 14/02/2015 05:47

purple we had the nifty test done at 10 weeks. It's the same as the harmony test but a different lab so a different name. I'd do it again, we got a scan, then blood test and results were less than 2 weeks so I got them before nuchal fold scan. It really put my mind at ease tbh, and we found out the sex as I have no patience! Grin

Fleurchamp · 14/02/2015 08:36

Yep I had the Harmony test. It was £400 as part of a package at FMC London.

Basically, I saw it as being a superior test to the NHS one and used it instead of. I didn't want to go down the amnio/ CVS route.

It's something like 99% accurate (don't quote me in that).

TBH I am so pleased I went to FMC, my treatment there was so much better than my 12 week scan at my hospital. I think I was just unlucky with my radiographer- she was mute and didn't answer any of my questions. At FMC I had a 10 week and a 12 week scan, both were around 45 mins long and very detailed. The Harmony test was explained in full and what would/ could happen next set out.

Fleurchamp · 14/02/2015 08:37

Oh yeah and you can find out the sex! We didn't opt for that.

Purplecircle · 14/02/2015 08:43

Thanks everyone. I've done a booking request for a nifty.

I don't see the point in the nuchal test because I'm high risk due to age. I don't need telling I'm high risk as I'll just worry for the next 7 months, I need to know if my baby is ok. I will still have my 12 week scan at the hospital though.

minimooo · 14/02/2015 08:52

purple I would have had the harmony test if my nhs tests had come back as high risk (thankfully they were low risk so there was no need). If it puts your mind at rest, I'd say do it. There's so much worry that comes with being pg, and if it's one thing you can remove from the worry list then it's worth doing.

wil bf sounds relentless and really hard work, but it sounds like you're doing brilliantly. Especially when you've got miniwil to look after at the same time. Wish I could give some advice, but I haven't had any experience of it yet

Hi zyla! how's it going with minizyla?

la pear crumble sounds amazing! As does that chocolate cake purple! I made chocolate and vanilla cookies last night - yum

Urgh, my back hurts. Trying to have a lie in but I'm really uncomfortable. Might get up and do some work.

minimooo · 14/02/2015 08:54

Took me ages to write that post, so cross-posted with you there purple! Glad you've booked it Smile

lildottie · 14/02/2015 08:55

I might mention the harmony test to dh as he's really worried about downs even though I'm low risk based on age. thanks for the info everyone, and thanks for bringing it up purple. when are you booked in for nifty?

LaLaLaaaa · 14/02/2015 08:57

Morning! Good on you purple for booking it, I think if you were going to worry then it will help to give you one less thing to worry about.

I'm lying in bed with cat on my head. Need to get up and go feed my friends bunnies. I made dh a v card last night but I don't think he's got me one. Working at the bar tonight with him, woo romantic! Grin

Cat has cold ears

Purplecircle · 14/02/2015 09:05

Is that famous cat La?

I think it will be in a couple of weeks time when I'm 10 weeks

I'm off to get my nails done later. Then we are off to mamas and papas and ikea to look at baby stuff.

DH gave me a Valentine's card and I had to say yours in the car, I'll get it when I'm dressed! Poor bloke Smile

LaLaLaaaa · 14/02/2015 09:11

No this one is his cross eyed brother - unfortunately rejected from modelling due to his look of confusion!

DulcetMoans · 14/02/2015 09:12

Friend linked to a Facebook comp to with a snuzpod but can't enter without people seeing! Wanted to share with you lot but scared it will be seen again! She speaks very highly of it though which is good.

My cat normally has hot ears la! They aren't allowed upstairs though, I a have to go visit them in he mornings.

willywallace · 14/02/2015 09:43

You might be able to change your settings so you just share privately or with certain people Dulcet?

Doesn't necessarily work like that Purple. It tells you what your risk due to age is, think mine was something like 1 in 200, but might have made that up, but my actual risk was 1 in 10000 so even though I'm an old fart mid thirties, the risk was still really low. So you don't get a high risk just because of your age.

Totally good idea to get test though if you have the cash and if the outcome will affect any decisions you make.

So I've been up Aaalllllllll night. Feeling fresh! Confused

laurenamium · 14/02/2015 10:18

Morning viroids! Me and DP had date night last night as DD was sleeping out, it was quite nice Smile we went round the pubs and I drank lemonade while he had a few pints. It was nice to feel a bit normal again!

deeply it does pass! I picked up in the second trimester and I'm only just starting to feel quite tired again now at 30 weeks

I didn't get the Extra tests either, I think I was low risk but at 1 in 295 because of the PAPP-A thing
