Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 21st grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 38th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Lauren I put a picture of the pump on the fb page for you. I think it was you who asked about the Ardo?

RPopz · 14/02/2015 11:12

Happy VD viroids! Grin Thanks Thanks Thanks

Calculating Downs risks is part of my job (the nhs ones) ... so any burning questions, fire away Wink Hmm

Indigoblue2 · 14/02/2015 11:50

Oh popz that's great! I've got questions!

I had the blood test two weeks ago this coming weds. Dunno if you saw my previous post but my nuchal fold measurement was 1.6mm. The sonographer seemed happy with that and said >3 was more common for Downs. They said if my blood test showed a high risk I'd be contacted quickly, if not then around two weeks. So far haven't heard so hopefully means low risk.

I've not really been worrying about the risk since the 1.6 measurement and the fact I'm 29 (I know not always as simple as that)... But now I'm starting to think maybe this Harmony thing would be the way to go as hadn't realised so many other folk don't just rely on nhs tests. Help!

I know wil said her actual risk was much lower (was it nearer 1 in 10000?) so just wondering how that works? Is it not as simple as if I get a letter saying 1 in 750, is that my actual risk or is my actual risk lower? Hope that makes sense.

Downs is something which would affect my choices so now I'm starting to worry a bit!

Indigoblue2 · 14/02/2015 11:56

And happy Valentines viroids! ThanksThanksWineWineEnvyEnvy

laurenamium · 14/02/2015 11:57

It was yes thank you wil Smile ill have a look when I'm home from the stables (my FB phone app doesn't work for some reason)

Just having a biscuit break part way through sorting the horses Smile I love having them at my mums house for this very reason!

willywallace · 14/02/2015 12:35

Sorry Indigo, I'm not being clear as I'm so knackered. Your risk will be whatever it tells you on the letter. But it will also say something about the risk/incidence of those people the same age as you (or mine did anyway). So I'm making up numbers here but it said something like 'Incidence of positive result in women your age is 1 in 250'.
Incidence of positive result based on your combined tests is 1 in 10,000'.

I also have completely paraphrased. I've no idea what the actual terminology was. Popz will know.

willywallace · 14/02/2015 12:43

Also, I don't know anyone in real life who has had Harmony/Nifty. I don't think it's that common really. If you don't have spare cash lying about, it makes sense to wait for NHS results and then get other if you're high risk and don't want amnio. A lot of soft markers for T18 & T13 (and I guess probably DS) show up on scan anyway.

RPopz · 14/02/2015 13:37

Indigo If you were high risk I'd have thought you'd have heard within a couple of days so they can get you back in to discuss your options. These tests are turned around pretty quickly.

The risk in your letter is your actual list based on several factors including NT measurement. Your age related risk is a risk based on your age alone - based on this all 29 year old women would have an identical risk despite different BMIs, smoking status etc etc... So a bit of a blunt instrument iyswim! I don't know if they actually tell both, probably depends on the trust.

It is a completely personal decision but I personally wouldn't bother with harmony at your age and in the absence of any other risk factors (prev Downs pregnancies, soft markers on ultrasound scan etc). The NHS test is well regulated and has a decent specficity rate. But it is still JUST a risk factor.... your risk could come back as one in a million but you could still be that one...

Food for thought x

LaLaLaaaa · 14/02/2015 13:38

Well jealous Lauren! I miss hanging at the stables on a Saturday. Loved our tea breaks :) I never feed rich tea biscuits to ponies oh no

Indigo it's up to you but I went for combined test and was considered low risk so didn't go for further testing. If you've not heard about test result that's a good sign, but 2 weeks is a long time to wait for the results! Mine was 4 days. They would have phoned if you were high risk.

Went out and bought dh some hot roasted chicken, craft beers and cupcakes for v day. Made him a card. He gave me some chocolates and he's taking me out dancing on Monday to a swing jazz gig. We don't normally do v day, I think the gig date was just coincidence.

Can anyone recommend a website to buy interesting baby gifts from? Cym you had some good ones didn't you?

willywallace · 14/02/2015 14:11

What kind of thing are you looking for La? Not on the High st sometimes have some interesting stuff.

lildottie · 14/02/2015 15:24

your ss is ace la Smile

indigo I'm also 29 and I don't think in going to bother with harmony unless I get high risk on nhs combined test. this is a useful website for age risk.
I read NHS considers high risk 1 in 150 or less. so at 30yo at scan I'm 1 in 940 based on age.

oh and we bought a house today

Pisghetti · 14/02/2015 15:32

Wait no news from Red and yet I get bumped up?! Arggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Lil I had nuchal thickness with DS in 2000 so I guess about the same time as your mum? Probably depended on trust though. My trust weren't offering it this time just a Quad test (a blood test at 16weeks) however when I had my 12wk scan the sonographer was collecting data ahead of reintroducing it and said off the record that the NT was in normal range. My blood test came back v low risk compared to age.

Pisghetti · 14/02/2015 15:34

Oh x-post - congrats Lil! Big week for you Grin

LaLaLaaaa · 14/02/2015 15:35
